GPB Sports is also excited to announce five different broadcasting teams for the games. The Class AA 4:30 p.m. game on Friday will be handled by Matt Stewart and Chuck Oliver of Comcast Sports Southeast while Noto will be on the sidelines. The Class AAAA game at 8 will be done by state championship broadcast veterans Charles Ward and Jeff Van Note with Nelson on the sidelines. Saturday’s lineup will begin at 1 p.m. with the Class A game handled by WSB-TV’s Zach Klein, Score Atlanta’s Fletcher Proctor and Nelson on the sidelines, followed by the Class AAA game at 4:30 by Ken Rodriguez and Buck Lanford of FOX 5 with Noto on the sidelines. The Class AAAAA finale will be done by veteran play-by-play man Dave Garner and former NFL player Harper Lebel with Nelson on the sidelines.
GPB will have a special edition of Sports Central XL on Thursday, Dec. 9, from 7-8 p.m.. Sports Central XL is a live video chat and will feature interviews with coaches from the state championship teams mixing it up with bloggers, writers and fans.
All games will be broadcasted in hi-definition live on Georgia Public Broadcasting and webcasted live at GPB.org/sports and GHSA.tv. GPB has nine television stations across Georgia and is in more than 98 percent of the homes in the state.
Complete coverage of the championships will be available live and on demand at GPB.org/sports. GHSA.tv will also have the games available for on demand viewing and DVD orders. The games will be rebroadcasted on GPB Knowledge, one of GPB’s digital channels, from Dec. 13-17. Each night will feature a game at 8 p.m. with the Class A game on Monday, Dec. 13, followed by the Class AA game on Tuesday, Class AAA on Wednesday, Class AAAA on Thursday and Class AAAAA on Friday. The game will also be available on Comcast On Demand on the GPB Sport Central tab and condensed games on Charter and Comcast on Demand in the Get Local and High School Sports section. Comcast Sports Southeast will also begin rearing the games on Dec. 17 with the dates and times to be announced.
In addition to televising and webcasting all five games live, GPB Sports will produce a live one-hour GPB Sports Central special on the championship games from the Dome on Thursday, Dec. 9, from 7-8 p.m. on GPB. Also, GPB Sports will be doing shows live from the Dome between games. Those shows will be anchored by Gil Tyree of GPB Sports Central and include the entire Sports Central team of Niki Noto, Mark Harmon and Jon Nelson. A group of high school experts will join the GPB Sports team for the championships including former Brookwood coach and athletics director Dave Hunter, Tommy Palmer, the host of the Georgia High School Scoreboard Show, and Chip Towers of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
Georgia Public Broadcasting is pleased to announce expanded coverage of the 2010 GHSA State Football Championships on Dec. 10-11 at the Georgia Dome. Also for the first time, the games will be broadcast in hi-definition.
