SouthGARules – It might be better for Lowndes if Grayson wins. The Vikings want to beat Grayson more than any other team in the State. Getting to play them in front of a state wide audience and the GHSA on TV with the state’s best referees would be an awesome opportunity to even the score with them. Sideline Observer said it first, but it makes sense to me. Course we have to take care of business on our end first. And that starts with a very good Collins Hill team Friday.

Dutchtown should not be overlooked considering their 5 shutouts and 11-1 record, but can anyone shutdown the Hooch? I think to beat Hooch you need to win a shoot out, and I am not sure that Dutchtowns offense has 30 points in them.

oldtimer – Son, Im probably older than you. But that loss still hurts. We think of Gayson as a very good up and coming program. They beat us in 08 fair and square, but we want another shot at’em to even the record. This time it would be on TV and no one could squabble about the refs or anything else. it would be a great game, and the hype would be enormous. Course it ain’t gonna happen. Valdosta is ending your season this Friday in Valdosta. In fact, there’s a very good chance both of the semi final AAAAA playoff games will be held the same night in Valdosta, GA! Wouldn’t that be a treat to the lcoal restaurants and motels!

one thing that cant be taken away from lowdnes is that it is a great program that travels well… and takes care of business in the reg. season so they dont have to travel… i went to the mceachern vs.lowdnes game this season and was impressed with all the fans that came up for a reg. season game but not impressed when they left… no one would admit that lowdnes got beat it was someone else’s fault… bad calls have happened to everyone you still have to play and overcome those calls…

EastsideGuy – you are correct about Lowndes’ travel record in the recent past. But it hasn’t always been that way. We beat an undefeated Southwest Dekalb team 12-0) in their place one year, and an undefeated Lovejoy team at their place the same year. We beat an Undefeated Northside team on the road in 1999. We beat Camden twice on the road and Stephenson once. And we beat Parkview at their place for the title in 2004. How many big playoff games has your team won on the road? I seem to remember Grayson beating East Pauldin the week before they beat us in 2008 and your guys cried all week about the refs. How many state Titles has your team won? Or Grayson? or North Gwinnett? Or McEachern? Or Newnan? Or Hiram? Or Stephenson? or MLK? Or Walton? Or Lasseter?

A bit more on STARR’S MILL…vs…EAST PAULDING!!!

The RAIDER NATION is heading south to STARR’S MILL this friday and on paper STARR’S MILL seems LOADED…they scored 338 points during the regular season for an average of 33.8 points per game while giving up a VERY stingy 79 points only 7.9 pts per game…this seems impressive, then again, Hmmmmm!:

They are another undefeated team at 12 / 0…BUT they play in Region 3 AAAA a VERY weak region and of their 10 regular season wins 1 came against a 5/5 AA team, another 7 of the wins came against AAAA teams…one that went 1/9, two that went 2/8, three that went 3/7 and one that went 5/5 on the year! Of the 10 regular season wins STARR’S MILL only played 2 teams with winning records ALL YEAR…WHITEWATER who finished 9/3 (they BARELY beat 21/14) and GRIFFIN who finished 10/2!

Even in the playoff rounds they got HARDAWAY a 5/5 team in the 1st round and BRUNSWICK at 8/3 in the 2nd round…So a BIG question is HAVE THEY BEEN TESTED YET?????

EAST PAULDING PLAYS in REGION 5 AAAA arguably the toughest region in AAAA…with KELL, EAST, HIRAM & POPE stacked in 5N (we have to play the split region) and SOUTH PAULDING, VILLA RICA & DOUGLAS COUNTY at the top of the SOUTH side!

EAST PAULDING also scored an impressive 332 points during the regular season to average 33.2 points per game while only allowing 117 points or 11.7 per game! The difference is the teams they did this against!

Finally while STARR’S MILL played a 5/5 HARDAWAY & a 8/3 BRUNSWICK to advance to the 3rd round friday night…EAST PAULDING’S RAIDERS just beat the #2 TEAM in the STATE…CLARKE CENTRAL in ATHENS on the road!

Just a few FACTS for thought and discussion while we eat the Turkey…

Cook and Buford …should be a great game..but I actually think Cook’s spread offense will be too much for Buford’s defense. Cook has nearly 3000 yards passing and the same rushing, so they are a well balanced offense with some explosive players. Should be a good game.

@ CANNON RULES. I definitely have to respect all of the information that u posted about Stars and EP. A couple weeks a go nobody gave u guys a chance now u are playing like one of the best teams in the state. I honestly thought CC would crush u but boy was I wrong.

I think our teams are similar in a lot of ways. We are both scrappy teams that fight hard. Both defenses are dominating and both offenses can be explosive when need be. I think losing our WR will definitely set us back but I still believe we’ll be able to pound the ball and run in ‘the trenches”. It should be a cold, rainy, sloppy game so whoever can win the turnover battle will ultimately win the game. With our home field advantage and EP coming off a major win last week I think they will fold against us.

My prediction – 13 to 10…..On to the Final Four to play Tucker. GO PANTHERS

Two quick facts…10 Regular season games, EAST “D” allowed an average of 11 points per game!…The 2 Playoff games to date…ROME scored “0″ and CLARKE CENTRAL (The # 2 ranked team in the STATE) scored 10!!…You do the math…that’s an average IN THE PLAYOFFS of 5 POINTS PER GAME!!! and YOU think STARR’S MILL is going to put 37 on the scoreboard?!?!?

CLARKE CENTRAL moved “up and down the field” but it’s those last 20 yards you gotta be able to make and if the #2 team in the state couldn’t do it why do you think STARR’S MILL WILL?

First, what I said was the REGION (3) was a WEAK Region overall…AND IT IS!!! The game stats I posted for STARR’S MILL reflect it…You played ONLY 2 teams (Whitewater & Griffin) during the season with winning records and granted went UNDEFEATED but my COMMENT was overall STARR’S MILL has yet to be tested! I stand by that comment still!!!

But I can promise you one thing…come friday night you WILL GET TESTED…you have not been on the field with a team that hits as hard or plays as physical as this RAIDER team!!! I’m not going to get on here and say EAST is going to put 37 points up on STARR’S MILL like ole’ “EP Bow Down ”
because on paper this looks to be a hard fought defensive game. It could VERY well come down to an interception or a fumble or maybe a special team play that decides the game.

JIMB you keep saying your boy is commited to Maryland. Yea he’s a good fullback and we will see how the Pack’s D handles him but we got a hause of our own. Xzavier Ward who has offers from FSU,UGA,GT,Notre Dame,UF,Alabama,Auburn and Clemson.There are others I missed. I know you had to see #22 on film. King who ran up 367 on MLK last week and his partner #23 Ridley. You hope your ends get a glimpse of them when they flash right by them on their way to put the moves on the DB’s going into the endzone. I also know you saw the presision passing by our QB Tyler Brown and the amazing catches by #8 Tommy Hudson and #80 Smith. Our Defense is very young but they have come a long way and have a long way to go.

BKSMITH14-Believe me, I have all the respect in the world for Lowndes and your tradition. We have very little football tradition, as I am one of only 4 people that will be traveling to the game that was there in ‘01 for what is still the biggest victory in our 15 year history. Maya Moore put our school on the map with 3 straight girls bb championships, along with 5 wrestling championships in 9 years. We won 2 Governor’s cups, but be assured it wasn’t because of football. I know the major task that is ahead for our football team, just hope the rain pushes through in time and we can stay on the field with you.

JimB….you are correct about Colquitt defense. As a viking fan and having kept up with the 1-aaaaa teams this year , I admit I am surprised they have come this far in the playoffs. Rarely can a team advance to the quarterfinals on offense alone. But I will tell you, like Prost or not, the man knows how to make adjustments during the game and put points on board. It should be a real shoot out Friday night. Good luck to the Packers…………

Adding my two cents on the EP VS Starrs game. I agree with many post that I have read as this is two evenly matched teams and will be a heck of a game. Whether you are 12-0 or 10-2, you did not make it this far unless you can play with the “big boys”! East has played much better than I gave them credit for all year in many games. (believe me as I have been tarred and feather for thinking they would lose to but only to Kell, North Paulding, Sprayberry, Hiram, Pope and Clarke Central but they won three of them) I don’t know much about Starrs as the AJC publishes as much on them as they did East this year. I do believe that this game will be a trench fighting game with a solid running attack by both sides. It will be won by a small margin of points as it will not be blow out by either team. East has a good LB core and yes one of the safety’s is a freshman but to say he is “mistake prone” is inaccurate as he has not been a big part of the defense to make that judgement. The defensive line and LB core have done the job for East thus the safety had has no part in the game…which is the way it should be. He is not a star player and the thing about East is that Reid coaches teamwork to the players thus not one player is or has been the game decision maker…offense or defense. If you look at the depth chart for East you will notice that not many seniors are starters or in the core of the game plan. So, if East does go down to Fayetteville and get beat by a powerful Starrs Mill team then this group of guys will have this intense game experience to led them to next year and return again. I hope that East does come home with a victory on Friday night as it will make the drive home much better for me within a group of strong believers. I am not sure what is wrong with Starr’s WR that was posted and hope that everything is ok for him and he is able to return to play. SM and their fans are very friendly and respectful and rank at the top for this qualities. I have no doubt that their hospitality on Friday will be second to none and I look forward to enjoying the game with two sets of passionate players and fans. So let the boys strap it up and leave it on the field and the best on the night will walk away the winner! Like many post have said…everyone drive careful to and from the games. See you at the game!

Grayson is better at the end of the season after losing some 8AAAAA rivals that chipped away at their weaknesses. Grayson has the best 11 playing both sides of the ball and you can tell the difference. I am not predicting they win or lose, depends if the young rebuilding Grayson players can handle that long trip. What helps Grayson players is no one giving them a chance to win….keep it up, they need it to win.

Collins hill fans there are no bad seats in the concrete palace. And it doesn’t matter that ya”ll are sitting on the visators side because Viking fans make as much noise on the visators side as the home side.Ilove sitting on the visators side because we generally are taunting and having a ball.The atmosphere is hostile but friendly. We are proud of our Vikings and let everyone know that they have been to Martin Stadium, home of champions.The stadium is built right on top the field, no tracks or borders,just playing field.What a place to watch afootball game.

Would have bet a million bucks the AJC would pick Buford to beat Cook Co. A note to those guys: You know you could save face by saying it was a mistake and going in and calling it a “correction”. This is your last opportunity to do so. Buford does not win every game just by walking on the field, even at home. Cook is unbeaten and did beat Colquitt Co. IN MOULTRIE, so that’s enough for me. I’m hopeful that you are just a fired up student wanting the best for your team I think that over time you will learn it is better to build up you own team and confidence then it is to try and teardown the opposition.

EP does have a free safety. If memory serves me right he got his first start in the 4th or 5th game of the season and he ended up toe for to with Kell and North Pauldings AJC Top 11 player in WR Chris Conley of NPs high flying passing attack (512 passing yds against Kell). Result is that he was contained well all night by the D and the new freshman safety.

Has he been out of position or beaten on occasion … Sure….. But if you give me the number and year of any of the Stars Mill DBs who have not been out of position or beaten this year I’ll be sure to keep an eye out for the type of talent.

This is a 15 tr old young man that is starting for a pretty darn good defense and a defense that had stood up well all year against some pretty good competition. I for one feel great with him back there.. As he’s physical, has a nose for the football, runs pretty good, great size for a freshman and bottom line… He has the trust of Coach Reid, the rest of the coaches and his teammates. He’s quickly gaining experience and the nuances of the position. He has the instincts and the passion and that is not some that can be exploited.

Go light with calling out individuals. They are just young men.

During 5th overtime Probst decides it is time to go for the win and goes for 2 and gets it.

Valdosta 24 Grayson 17 (More defense in this game than many are expecting)

Statesboro lost to a 6-4 team and a 2-8 team, Yes thats 2 wins and eight losses. I watch them against Griffen, Tri Cities, Brunswick, Greenbriar, Evans, and S Effingham. They are extremely one dementional wishbone offence. Which plays right into our strength just ask both Flowery Branches 1,000+ yard rushers. If their combined team offense is over 100 yards i will be shocked. Their defense is marginal at best and have not played a team with the stable of backs Kell has, the shut down defense Kell has, and we’ll throw in 150+ yards passing just for good measure.

Kell puts up 35 in the first half then shuts it down and plays 2nd and 3rd string in the 2nd half.

EP is one of the toughest teams we played all year, and will be the best defense Starr’s Mill has played all year. EP’s offense will pound the ball down the fieldand run off huge chunks of clock.

EP over Starr”s Mill 21-7

Hooch has put up big number’s against the weakest region in the AAAA. Dutchtown has been stingy with point this year. Hooch wins because Dutchtown has no offense but it will be interesting to see what hooch can do against thier defense. I think this game will show some true colors.

Hooch over Dutchtown 21-3 Maybe.

Tucker and Ware should be the dog fight of the night. Tucker’s strength is it’s offense matched up against Ware’s strength it’s defense. Ware’s offense should put up some good numbers on Tucker’s defense. Ware should put up more point on Tucker’s defense than Tucker can on Ware’s defense. On a cold wet night I have to give it to the better defense.

plowboy – I’ll take an overrated Nick Marshall, who now has four wins in this and last year’s playoffs against undefeated teams, as opposed to a “rated” quarterback.. The undefeated teams before Marshall faced them; Wesleyan, Greenville. and Savannah Christian from last year and Johnson County so far this year. Wilcox lost the coin flip for this weekend home field advantage against Wesleyan, so Marshall will be on the road again. Some of those other teams he has beaten on the road that were not undefeated, were not so bad either, like Clinch County in last years playoffs, and this year’s number one in class A.

IDK guys, I think the close call last week vs Glynn is something that could wake that Dutchtown Offense UP. If they are a serious playoff team, their offense is due for an explosion. I Think DT comes out early and makes Hooch punt a couple of times. The Hooch might have a lot of Athletes but Dtown has just as much speed as them on Defense. I Think Dutchtown, on a cold and rainy night, sticks to their meal ticket of running the ball, controlling the clock and playing great defense pulls i out. Dutchtown to the semis by 13. B-TownWolves–I was at that game, Buford was NOT the better team, otherwise they would have won the game..and what I saw out of Buford was a lot of late hits out of bounds, dropped passes and a million holding calls..not to mention it had probably been a while since Buford had been hit in the mouth like Carver did..But I dont understand why your coach didnt keep throwing the ball because recievers were constantly open, but he kept running into that massive defensive line of Carvers.

I find it difficult to make predictions at this stage. In round 1 and to a lesser extent round 2, there are some pretty much sure things. By the time we get here, I personally think all bets are off. I really think Grayson can win Friday but I also know Valdosta is a great team as well and it could go their way. I am sure that it should be a GREAT game! There are so many real factors and intangibles that you just have to roll the dice and take your chances.

I know I am very thankful this day that we live in a country where we can have the opportunity to participate in events such as this and have the opportunity to speak our minds in a forum such as this. Yes, there are a few posters that I don’t particularly care for but they certainly have their opinions and have as much right as I to state their case.

I am most thankful for my two nephews that are working to ensure that we continue to have these opportunities. One is in Iraq now and one is going back next year for his 8th tour between Afghanistan and Iraq. Thanks to them and others like them, we get to live, eat and breath high school football and I am grateful.

Sgt: I, too, was at C-C vs Buford and evidently saw diff games… CC scored on a pass deflection that sailed 20 yards right into a CC players hand on the 25 and he could have walked into the ez, Crowell did have a pretty run (+-85 yds) Buford did shoot themselves in the foot two to many times that night but it will be like when Lovett beat Buford last year and even Fitzgerald and their Cool Breeze thought they had it figured out..1AA and 6AA have had some great in the past and Cook/Buford this year will be the same….it is who wants it the most…Woof Woof

PackerAlumni66 – Schedules are made for two yars at a time in GHFB. If a team chose to play in the Corky Kell Classic for one year, it may not have a full schedule the next year. We have tried to contract Berns SC and Hoover to two years deals, at Lowndes one year and at their place the next. But both of’em only wanted one year deals, and wanted us to go there. For us to go to the Corky Kell Classic it would have to be a two year deal. It’s hard enough as it is to get metro teams to come to S. GA to fill out our non region schedule. Same thing for Valdosta, Camden, and Colquitt. Soooo glad McEachern and South Gwinnett signed to play us for two years this year. We went to McEachern this year and next year they come to us. S. Gwinnett came to Lowndes this year, and next year we go up there.

I don’t know the details but I think when we sighned South Panola and Carver Alabama they were one year deals. I maybe mistaken! We would love to see Hoover come to Moultrie. Win or lose

Yeah, but they don’t want to go to Moultrie. Ya’ll may end up either having only 9 games next year, or scheduling a brand new team for one year. Either way’s not good. It has to be “home and home” (once at their place and once at ours) or we won’t schedule’em.

Propst when he schedules teams he just don’t schedule a team because they are available. He wants a top notch program to play to get ready for the region and playoffs.As we seen on our schedule Cook top notch in AA, South Panola top notch everywhere, TCC-AAAA, Warner Robins usually every year, Westlake don’t know why, Carver of Ala top notch in Alabama and then the region

Yep that was a close one. We called timeout with 6 seconds to go and they was on our 1 yard line. They has a 300 pound short yard fullback that we had to stop so out Defensive Coordinator called timeout. He noticed that the center had injured his non snapping hand and we took advantage of it. Our two interior DL hit the center on the snap and two middle LB’s hit the middle too. They gave it off to him and he went nowhere. Brillient call!

PackerAlumni66: Nick Hyder died in the spring of 1996. I remembered he was supposed to be a torch bearer for the Olympic games when the torch passed thru Valdosta.
As far as the North GA vs South GA debate, we’ll find out Friday night. Having lived in South Ga & Metro Atlanta, there are pros & cons to living in both areas. Good luck to all teams & fans traveling & a Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!

ajc november 25 2010— It appears that everyone that will be traveling south to watch north ga play south ga fri night in high school football have completely ran every store out of kleenex and tissue. One lady, Ms Stacy kimble is highly upset about the situation. ” I am just so pissed at these people and i live in the area and go to a lot of the games, but even i have enough since to know that it would be wise to stay home and not waste my time watching them south ga boys cream our na ga kids” ” Now i cant even get me a box of kleenex til next week” As for the fans that are going, we asked one lady why everyone is buying a box of kleenex? Response, “Why ask a dumb question?, we are preparing for the long sad ride home” People down south, from the ajc hearts to yours, please be kind to us north georgians before and after game, please!!

It’s always fun to post in here and I will also miss the friday nights in “THE BONEYARD” once the season ends…this year’s team is peaking at just the right time and they played all but FLAWLESS football last week at CLARKE CENTRAL.

Paulding County is excited about the RAIDERS making it this far into the playoffs and you can look for a HUGE crowd tomorrow night at STARR’S MILL…We will take over the visitor’s side and create a great advantage for the RAIDER’S by creating a “HOME AWAY FROM HOME” atmosphere!!! With our BELLS & HORNS and LOUD cheering fans the PANTHERS will know EAST PAULDING has come to Fayetteville!!!!

Good Fan Hes supposed to be fine, he injured his thumb before last weeks game and reinjured it right before the game this week. When I went to the coaches show thats what everyone told me. All of our boys seem to be relaxed and upbeat. One of my fellow bloggers made sure I got to meet the boys and the coaches. Thanks for all your hospitality at the coaches show…you know who you are.

Cane fan right on it smells good here too.

I do not think anyone can count Hillgrove out. They are very good on offense and their defense can stop anyone in the State. One of their biggest assests is they are balanced on offense. Their offensive line is very good. Theri linebackers are as good as any in the State. It would not surprise me if they won the State Championship. Hillgrove beat my Camden team fair and square. They are a team to be reconed with. Good luck to Hillgrove and the rest of the teams still fighting to play another round.

@observer, you must not have observed a whole lot lately. collins hill 21-20 over lowndes and colquitt only scoring 20 on mill creek, we can tell you are a n ga guy. i feel lowndes will win , i also feel hillgrove will beat brookwood and that valdosta will win although it wdnt suprise me if grayson finds a way to upset the cats bc of the d they have.

You are right Grayson has no state Titles in Football. Grayson Opened in 2000.
Lowndes 1st 10 years they went
31-66 with no playoff appearances.
Grayson 1st 10 years
79-30 with 6 playoff appearances including 2 quarterfinals and 1 semi finals.

if you look at collins hill and their body of work, they have given up points in bunches to good teams. gace up 45 to brookwood, 24 to roswell, 33 to n gwinnett, 43 to mlk ,34 to mill creek. i wasnt really paying attention to that earlier but i think defense will be their doom against lowndes. they want put up more than 17 to 20 on lowndes and lowndes will score more than that. i wd b shocked if the opposite happens. the teams they have held in check towards the end of year were not that good.

@squirrell let me remind you that lowndes beat you by 10 yes, but the game was over!!! it was 37-20 with 30 sec left. Lowndes let you guys score or wasnt playind defense on their toes. I was at game. Lowndes dominated most of that game except for the run yall put together to get back in it. i am not doubting colquitt at all as you guys are pretty darn good and have a good offense but 37-27 was nit idicitive of what the game was actually like.

East is ready, I have spent time around these boys this week and I am telling you they are prepared. Metally they are focused, all business and know what needs to be done. They are physically prepared, great practices. Coaches will push them hard, they will push each other. They have the heart, they have the drive, they will not quit it’s not in them. These boys are special, they want this and they are gonna bring it all to Star’s Mill. Better eat your Wheaties tomorrow SM, strap that chinstrap tight and say your prayers. The Mighty Raiders blow into town tomorrow and it’s gonna be a battle!! I’ll see all my Raider people in the stands, LOUD AND PROUD!! GO EAST!!

to any teams who season ends fri night, you have nothing to hang your heads about. anyone playing tommorow night has made it further than camden, the defending champs !!! To be playing in the 3rd round means no matter what you have had a good year and are a good team.

The team i feel has the best chance of getting upset tomorrow is valdosta. Graysons defense is no joke and if they can keep it close then look out cats!!!

Under 45 degrees tomorrow at kickoff. By 9 pm the wind chill will be a 32 degrees. Wind around 12 mph or less. The worse conditions of the season. Who can play in bad weather here at Brookwood tomorrow? Who knows? We’ll find out. Cold ball, cold hands. No rain. Maybe rain south of here. Good luck to Hillgrove, but you know I’m rooting for Brookwood. And in a spirit of Thanksgiving, I will not look for other posters here until tomorrow, since I wish to remain in a spirit of the day.

Tucker runs the Wing T. Ware’s defense is very fast and physical. They can stop the Wing T. They held Lowndes to 3 points. They can beat Tucker. East Paulding and Kell may be the biggest and baddest AAAA dogs standing after tomorrow night.

@rancher, I guess you missed the earlier discussions. Due to the way the brackets are set up this year, it is mathematically impossible for Gwinnett to have more than 4 teams in the quarterfinals as we had to play each other in the round of 16. So looking at it from that perspective, Gwinnett is 100% at this point as opposed to 1-AAAAA which is 75%. But the truth is all of this is just numbers. At this stage, any team can go the distance. It all will depend on who shows up.

Lowndes put a quick #15 on the Pack in the first quarter. The first was after a good kick coverage and saftey. Lowndes got the ball again in good field position and Parker finished with an 8 yard run. Then Lowndes drove again and scored on a 1 yard run. Packers were “dazed” in the first quarter. Second quarter Lowndes put up one more score then the Packers got rolling and put up two quick scores to make it 23-13 at the half.

Second half Packers came out and scored to make it 23-20. Forth Quarter, Packers had been moving the ball and holding Lowndes when we started a drive around the twenty, we threw a pick-6 (by 6′5″ “bad” linebacker) and made it 30-20 (Propst admitted it was a bad call). All the wind came out of our sail. Lowndes scored again , 37-20. We scored with 39 seconds left , 37-27.

Without the “dazed” first quarter and interception by the best player in the State, it would have been a whole lot closer and ya’ll know it. Lowndes is better than the Packers but we would love to play you again.

To tell the truth Valdosta looked better than ya’ll and they only beat us by #7.

Hope Lowndes, Valdosta and Packers win so we might return to “Title-Town” and maybe tangile in the Dome.

It looks like Ware County fans are drinking the same koolaid as Hiram was last week before their beatdown. Defense will rule the night tomorrow just because of the cold and wet weather. Tucker runs the ball very well with two TBs and will wear down Ware Co (no pun intended). I believe it will be close in the first half with Tucker pulling away late 3rd and into the 4th quarter. I truly believe this is Tucker’s year with NSWR out. NSWR was the only team that really matched up well for Tucker with their speed. Well, good luck to both teams and Happy Thanksgiving.

Fred, good post on the teams playing tonight, having nothing to do with the past. I also like your idea on the punishment for the person that stole the Peach Co ticket revenue. All the kids, coaches and teams playing tonight deserve our respect for making it this far. There are no teams left because of weak regions, bad calls, unlucky fumbles ect ect . All 40 teams playing tonight have earned the right to do so …. Good luck to everyone , especially THE LOWNDES VIKINGS.

YO I am parked next to I-75 in front of the gate opening to the Silver Viking Parking Lot. Hope to meet you and your son. Lowndes 96, glad your son is coming too. Both of my sons will be there tonight also. Rancher, hope to see you too. And Viking 68! Bring your megaphone! One graduated from Lowndes in 92 and one in 96. I played at the old Lowndes County High, which is now Lowndes Middle School. Yeah, admitting my age! But I have had the SAME season tickets at Lowndes for over 40 years. And am one of the ORIGINAL Silver Vikings.

CH folks, drive safely on the wet roads! Come early, the restaurants will be packed with shoppers. And Grayson folks will be coming too. Hope EVERYONE , including Lowndes & Dosta fans and all ya’ll traveling gets home safely.

FRED – Two years ago late in the Grayson game we turned to a sophmore defensive back to hopefully bring us back against Grayson. His name is Tyler Hunter. Number 15. Last week our starting QB, Cole Parker, was injured and could not play. At 4 pm on Friday, Coach told that same defensive back he had to start for us against Newnan. The rest is history. He was awesome. Ask the Newnan fans. As a senior, he has committed to FSU. He was injured late last year and missed the last regular season game and all of the playoffs. Initially diagnosed as never being able to play again. Later given the green light to play by top neurosurgens. His dad, Brice Hunter, starred at Valdosta High, UGA, and Tampa Bay. We have several others who also played against Grayson, and yes they remember that awful feeling and long ride home. They DO hope to see Grayson in the Dome this year. Most Lowndes fans, being loyal to our cross town neighbors are pulling for the Cats to win tonight. I just hope we get to play either!

It’s no fluke there are 4 Gwinnett County Teams still in the 5A playoffs, and three of those teams had to beat other Gwinnett county teams last week to advance. Otherwise there would be seven Gwinnett County Teams in the playoffs. The math is simple. You have Gwinnett County football, and then the rest of the state!

I think what Coach Conn was referring to is that Gwinnett County Schools spend an entire season beating up on each other so by the time the playoffs arrive these teams are pretty beat up. It would be good to play some South Georgia teams early in the year while both teams are still healthy. Reference Grayson beating Camden County in the dome last year the first game of the season, yet Camden won the state.

Well haven’t got a dog left in this fight but did go up 92 a bit and grab a “bone” from the “yard” to chew on for tonight. East just to let you know the HIram family is behind you. Take it all the way. As for the poster about EP’s linebackers, they are not superstars, but they way better than average and will get the job done by hitting you hard and in the mouth all night. What I said about Mickey Conn at Grayson goes double for Shannon Jarvis at Mill Creek – class act, suffered through several also-ran seasons and the Hawks have finally put it all together!! Best of luck tonight against Colquitt!!

But forget the big boys….the best game anywhere in the state tonight ought to be Wilcox County and Wesleyan. Irresistible force meets immovable object!! THAT should be a game for the books!

In AAAAA, look for Brookwood, Grayson, Lowndes and Colquitt to advance. After that, it’s anybody’s game…..

AAAA: Nobody can top Tucker Period. Tigers have been there, done that, got a closet full of the t-shirts. Nice seasons, everybody else, but get ready to take inventory.

AAA: Peach County.will repeat. I really, really am hoping for my Hurricanes to pull it out against Sandy Creek, but we’ve got a big row to hoe tonight…..

AA- Buford is itching for another shot at Carver-Columbus (damn, man, that just doesn’t sound right, Buford wanting payback against ANYBODY) – and the Wolves will get their chance. Carver proves the first time wasn’t a fluke, though, and in a couple of weeks takes the AA crown in a blowout.

A – If Wilcox gets past Wesleyan tonight, no one in Class A, Lincoln County included, will be able to come close. The winner of Wesleyan-Wilcox takes the Class A cheese. ELCA-Clinch ought to be another great war tonight, but the title will be Wilcox’s to lose.

Having watched HS football for a long time, I can tell you that this Starr’s Mill team is really something special. Great senior leadership and great coaching is driving this classy program and this team has it all. Great running and passing game, a hard nosed defense and the best special teams in the state. Someone help me out here, is 4.4 speed the same in 1a as it is in 5a? 300 lbs is the same in all classifications? The only difference is depth, 2 deep in 285-300 lb vs 285-300 lb starters and some 250lb 2nd string. These 2a schools have made impressive showings against the 5a schools and I’d say all classifications have a couple of teams that will match up pretty good.
Now let me say that if someone without depth had to play those big buys all year they’d probably not be as healthy come playoff time.

You are correct. 100% Ware County: I watched their first two games and their last two games. You can tell how well coached and prepared a team is by asking these 2 simple questions while watching film.

1.) Are the same players making the same mistakes 6 weeks down the line?
2.) Have the coaches made any adjustments, from 1 half to next and from game to game?

Answers to questions

1.) YES!! On offense the same players are still missing the same blocking assignments, causing anemic offensive drives. When offense is shown different defensive fronts the offensive line look confused and often miss easy blocks.
They have great field position due to good defense but can’t consistently put points on the board.
On defense they’re very fast but often over pursue and their secondary is weak. There linebackers take a lot of false read steps, but due to there speed can usually recover.

2.) NO!!! Their coaches have not adjusted their play calling or schemes, they continue running the same plays hoping they will work from half to half and from game to game.

We are within 5 hours of kickoff at The Arena where the Dutchtown Bulldogs will battle with the Cougars of Chattahoochee. Next to “December in the Dome” I would have to say that spending Thanksgiving in town and watching Hooch in The Arena is the next best thing.

Dutchtown, I hope that you all have a safe drive up to Johns Creek from Hampton and that you had a wonderful Thanksgiving with family and friends. I would also like to advise you that our parking lot is a nightmare to get out of so it is going to be a long LONG LONG ride home when after tonight once the Cougars are finshed. You will have plenty of time to play relive the game and what you could have done differnetly and plan arrangements for inventory checks on Monday afternoon.

We have all seen that the Bulldogs have a good defense and tonight it will get a chance to show its stuff as the Cougar offense is ready to run!!

Speaking of defenses, the Cougar’s defense is also ready tonight with the return of Dixon to the D-line and believe me they will all be ready to pounce!!

It is going to be cold tonight but the Hooch fans are going to be on FIRE as they cheer our boys onto another victory and one step closer to December in the Dome!!

Fans of GA 4A football, isn’t time to represent. Game time is just a couple of hours away. Dress warm it will be cool in the ATL area.

The fans of region 6, welcome the Gators of Ware County and their supports to the TIGER DEN. Hope our trip was pleasurable and safe. Visitor side is on the left of the stadium, up a small hill. Hopefully you brought your stadium chairs; we do allow this type of seating. BTW, the tigers have overlooked their jungle and in search of tonight’s dinner (Gator). The tigers are focus on one opponent and one opponent only, as they move forward to the goal, GA 4A STATE CHAMPION.
Remember, you are not facing your region teams, or North Clayton, or Whitewater.

There is 17 Gwinnett teams and it takes 2 regions to include them? Our region covers a larger land area, but we only have 5 AAAAA teams, really 4, because Valdosta is playing up. I think Gwinnett has great football. But, why does everyone keep saying Gwinnett has 4 teams left? We are not dealing with counties, we are dealing with regions. If we are counting counties then Colquitt and Lowndes are at 100% because Colquitt has 1 high school and Lowndes has 2. Gwinnett has 17 and 4 are in the quarterfinals. That’s 23.5%.

The key for Tucker tonight is protect the ball. Ware has tough fast defense and turnovers have a way of energizing a team. May be a relatively low scoring game. Tucker has the more expolsive offense, if they protect the ball should be a hard fought victory for Tucker.
