Yeah, but the term “top ten” is relavant. It always has a lot of Gwinnett County over-rated teams because they buy a lot of AJC fish wrappers. Go outside of the metro to play some quality teams.

I find it difficult to make predictions at this stage. In round 1 and to a lesser extent round 2, there are some pretty much sure things. By the time we get here, I personally think all bets are off. I really think Grayson can win Friday but I also know Valdosta is a great team as well and it could go their way. I am sure that it should be a GREAT game! There are so many real factors and intangibles that you just have to roll the dice and take your chances.

I know I am very thankful this day that we live in a country where we can have the opportunity to participate in events such as this and have the opportunity to speak our minds in a forum such as this. Yes, there are a few posters that I don’t particularly care for but they certainly have their opinions and have as much right as I to state their case.

I am most thankful for my two nephews that are working to ensure that we continue to have these opportunities. One is in Iraq now and one is going back next year for his 8th tour between Afghanistan and Iraq. Thanks to them and others like them, we get to live, eat and breath high school football and I am grateful.

Is it Friday yet? :)

Norcross, North Gwinnett, Collins Hill, Peachtree Ridge, Etowah, Dacula all were ranked in the ajc during the year. I guess I could Include Colquitt butt thats not true.

Sgt: I, too, was at C-C vs Buford and evidently saw diff games… CC scored on a pass deflection that sailed 20 yards right into a CC players hand on the 25 and he could have walked into the ez, Crowell did have a pretty run (+-85 yds) Buford did shoot themselves in the foot two to many times that night but it will be like when Lovett beat Buford last year and even Fitzgerald and their Cool Breeze thought they had it figured out..1AA and 6AA have had some great in the past and Cook/Buford this year will be the same….it is who wants it the most…Woof Woof

Hey PackerAlumni66 I like your idea of expanding the Kell and bringing in out of state teams but where’s the love man? You left my team out! It won’t qualify as a classic without us! ;)

Off to baste the turkey……yum yum!

PackerAlumni66 – Schedules are made for two yars at a time in GHFB. If a team chose to play in the Corky Kell Classic for one year, it may not have a full schedule the next year. We have tried to contract Berns SC and Hoover to two years deals, at Lowndes one year and at their place the next. But both of’em only wanted one year deals, and wanted us to go there. For us to go to the Corky Kell Classic it would have to be a two year deal. It’s hard enough as it is to get metro teams to come to S. GA to fill out our non region schedule. Same thing for Valdosta, Camden, and Colquitt. Soooo glad McEachern and South Gwinnett signed to play us for two years this year. We went to McEachern this year and next year they come to us. S. Gwinnett came to Lowndes this year, and next year we go up there.

GO UG!

Panther Fan, what do you predict the score to be between Clinch and ELCA? Why do you think Clinch will win this game? I am just curious what you base this on. I know the AJC is picking Clinch but of course they have bet against ELCA all year long.

PackerAlumni66

I don’t know the details but I think when we sighned South Panola and Carver Alabama they were one year deals. I maybe mistaken! We would love to see Hoover come to Moultrie. Win or lose

jimb — Gwinnett had 8 teams to start with in the ajc fish wrapper playoffs. Two regions are only Gwinnett teams. Let’s see how many are left playing after this Friday. I believe it will be down to one Cobb and three 1-AAAAA teams. Even if one Gwinnett team wins, it’s still an embarrassment to them when they started out with so many. Trouble was, the brackets put them playing each other. ENR called it a balancing act.

AVikingFan

November 25th, 2010
9:16 am

Yeah, but they don’t want to go to Moultrie. Ya’ll may end up either having only 9 games next year, or scheduling a brand new team for one year. Either way’s not good. It has to be “home and home” (once at their place and once at ours) or we won’t schedule’em.

jimb

actually 7 of the eight won and had to play each other in the second round so it would only be four. Gwinnett beat Gwinnett AVingFan has math problems

Propst when he schedules teams he just don’t schedule a team because they are available. He wants a top notch program to play to get ready for the region and playoffs. As we seen on our schedule Cook top notch in AA, South Panola top notch everywhere, TCC-AAAA, Warner Robins usually every year, Westlake don’t know why, Carver of Ala top notch in Alabama and then the region

jimb at least Colquit had the nerve to play a good AA school unlike those power houses in Gwinnett who say they can’t win by playing Buford even if they win. Where are the kahunas dude?

Its Carver of Mongomery Alabama!!!If you know anything about high school football Warner Robins has been a power for along time. They have their down years like everyone else. When you guys start playing real football teams outside of the city of atlanta then you can talk.

@JIMB – You are just pissing in the wind debating with these south GA guys or what ever they are, probably kids from the sounds of it. It doesn’t matter how much you respect their brand of football, they are just so jealous of north GA that it cracks me up. They aren’t jealous of the football, that’s obvious. I think it’s more that they know we have a life outside of following highschool football and they don’t. Festivals? don’t ya’ll mean hoedowns?

I really do believe you will see another south panola type team in size and speed in Millcreek they really are big and fast. If you like players cierski at 6′1′ 260lbMARYLAND COMMITTMENT 4.65 40 6′1 215 speed qb 6′6′ tackle 275 6′4′ 275 nose tackle LSU OFFER AS A SOPH. 6′3′ WIDE OUT DOUBLE FOOTBALL AND BASKETBALL D1 YOU WILL LIKE THIS TEAM

The thing about that team is we really didn’t have any superstars. Most of us went to small local colleges except Polite (Clemson) Clif Henry went to Davidson and became a lawyer. Oh JIMB it was 1994 15-0 #3 in USA Today Rankings and #7 in National Prep Poll. #1 AJC and had Georgia Defensive Player of the Year (Jerry Jones) 5 First team all-state players and 4 2nd team

Yep that was a close one. We called timeout with 6 seconds to go and they was on our 1 yard line. They has a 300 pound short yard fullback that we had to stop so out Defensive Coordinator called timeout. He noticed that the center had injured his non snapping hand and we took advantage of it. Our two interior DL hit the center on the snap and two middle LB’s hit the middle too. They gave it off to him and he went nowhere. Brillient call!

PackerAlumni66: Nick Hyder died in the spring of 1996. I remembered he was supposed to be a torch bearer for the Olympic games when the torch passed thru Valdosta.
As far as the North GA vs South GA debate, we’ll find out Friday night. Having lived in South Ga & Metro Atlanta, there are pros & cons to living in both areas. Good luck to all teams & fans traveling & a Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!
To Cannon & cane fan: I love the way you bring the passion for your schools. I know I will miss Tick, Tick, Boom! once EP’s season is over-hopefully with a state title!

THIS JUST IN—-

ajc november 25 2010— It appears that everyone that will be traveling south to watch north ga play south ga fri night in high school football have completely ran every store out of kleenex and tissue. One lady, Ms Stacy kimble is highly upset about the situation. ” I am just so pissed at these people and i live in the area and go to a lot of the games, but even i have enough since to know that it would be wise to stay home and not waste my time watching them south ga boys cream our na ga kids” ” Now i cant even get me a box of kleenex til next week” As for the fans that are going, we asked one lady why everyone is buying a box of kleenex? Response, “Why ask a dumb question?, we are preparing for the long sad ride home” People down south, from the ajc hearts to yours, please be kind to us north georgians before and after game, please!!

Everytime jackets have met these guys, they’ve came out on top. Remember Brooks County? Way down on the Ga-Fla line. Jackets had to have a police escort out of the parking lot, rocks thrown at the bus…talking about sore losers. Fitz in 05, 48-20 I think it was. Even if Fitz wins, 1aa is still behind.
