Don’t even talk about ’stacked decks’. Camden has been given (yes given) a play-off waltz each year since they are realisitically playing in a AAA/AA region and are given (yes given) home games because of this. Play a full season with the big boys for a few years (which will eliminate Camden from grooming younger players) and pop-off. The Florida school could have put 90+ on Camden but called the dogs off to spare Camden the embarassment.

Packers were 5-5 at beginning of playoffs.
We beat Lassiter in a scrimmage then we lost the first three:
1- Cook – we play horrible, had 15 penalties, young inexperienced defense.
2- South Panola (MS)….Numder #1 in some national polls
3- Thomas County Central …..Big Rival we lost to in OT
Then we went 5-2, defeating Westlake, Warner Robins, Carver (AL), Tift Co., Coffee Co.,
then lost two:
4. Lowndes…37-27
5. Valdosta….36-29
Now in the playoffs we have defeated Jenkins, MLK, Mill Creek….8-5
We were ranked pretty accurate in the polls at #5 in the beginning of the season. Where we are now is not just a “fluke”. We’ve been playing hard and improving all year and the “Pack” is ready!

The squirrell post @ 7:58 is a great example of my point. there are 3 or 4 AAA/AAAA teams on their schedule and they still were 5-5 going into the playoffs. Never would have made the playoffs up here. They are playing well now but not being challenged week in and week out I’m sure they are very healthy. Most AAAAA teams are banged up this time of season with player barley practicing just so the can get ready for the next game.

First let me say that I am very proud of my son’s school: Brookwood! Way to go Broncos. Now since that’s out of the way, I’d like to also say congratulations to the rest of Gwinnett (almost every game is a war in our county with regions 8 and 7), yet also Hillgrove. I had never heard of you but to defeat Stephenson and Camden with just being five years old is beyond impressive. I also was told that your crowd and fans had great sportsmanship over at Broowood Stadium. I will definitely be watching how you perform in the future and wishing you well. I know that us in Metro Atlanta jump on Lowndes and Camden but I am glad that you all are out of the playoffs cause you are very tough programs every year. So you always get respect from me as powerhouses. As someone said earlier: Valdosta has a history that no one can deny. Anyone in Georgia (North or South) should be proud of Valdosta’s accomplishments and this is coming from someone who has lived above the Mason-Dixon almost half of my life! A few more points before I close: great season for Kell! You defeated some great schools even in our classification (AAAAA) and had a great year. Also, Carver-Columbus proved me wrong in handling Buford earlier in the year (that running back is the real deal!!!). Finally, I never paid much attention to Tucker, but every year, you all are consistently tough. I wish everyone left in the playoffs the best of luck and safe travels.

Camden has three state championships—Lowndes five—Parkview three I think—Brookwood several—Valdosta over twenty—The point is, until your team wins it all, you are a major topic of discussion. Please stop the bashing of all teams. Camden was beaten by Hillgrove this year and we give them ALL the credit—Regardless of what region a team plays in has nothing to do with winning rings—All teams that win a state championship must win five playoff games—It is proven every year that all teams (who reach the second round) in the play offs are very good—That is why they call it the play offs. I personally believe that Brookwood will win it all this year.

CHEAGLE…I guarntee Cook AA, Thomas Co. Central AAAA and Warner Robins AAAA are tough teams and could beat five out of ten teams in those large Atlanta Area AAAAA Regions. So, these three opponents in no way weakened the Packers schedule.

We were taking care of business. No need to look at this bog during the regular season. Way to much going on in Region 7AAAAA play to worry about the rest of the state. Collins Hill has had what amounts to 9 straight playoff since our 1-3 start against the Region Champs Roswell, Brookwood, MLK & North Gwinnett.
THE COMMENT AT 7:24 WAS NOT FROM ME. That is not what I’m about.
Camden has a very good program and Coach Herron’s record speaks for itself. We have the playoffs to see who the best team is but not very team is challenged week in and week out like we are in Gwinnett. It has a big impact on how healthy a team is going into the playoffs. If you can get your young players varsity experience on a regular basis, that is a huge advantage to building for the future. It is very difficult for a sophomore to see the field unless they are a stud or on special teams.
I Love the fact that we played the toughest schedule in the state. We would not be where we are without it. Case in point 2008 & 2009 schedules were easy early 6-0 and lost in 1st round both years and ended up 8-3.

CHEAGLE us AAAAA schools below Atlanta area sometimes don’t have much choice about trying to find teams to playon our schedule every year. You guys up north have 6 regions of AAAAA to choose from while we have 2. We schedule who we can and fortunatley we got a power in AA and rival TCC and a storied WR.

Again, I’m not saying it is your fault. Having only 5 teams in a region with 4 playoff spots is hard to look at from up here. Again, not your fault, but only really having to get up for 4 games is a big advantage. I know some of the other games are rivals but when push comes to shove the don’t count.
The Packers are much like our Collins Hill team. Spread offense that can score a lot of point and an improving defense. You should give Grayson a run for the DOME..Good Luck.

@CHEAGLE – I was at the 45-38 game earlier in the season and Collins Hill really impressed me then. And when the game went into overtime, I thought Brookwood was a goner. No deck was stacked. Each team that entered the AAAAA playoffs has to win 5 games to win the State, regardless of where they’re from. Turns out this year three are from Gwinnett. We had another region glowing about their three teams winning the previous two weeks, and now only one is left. Last year, three teams came to Gwinnett and all beat the home teams in the quarters. Oh well, what goes around, comes around. Whatever, the winners prove themselves winners regardless of the score, and the losers can help but being losers even when their team scores more points than their opponents.

As much as I hate to see my team lose, I can at least see the big picture and realize that it is actually better for Georgia HS football overall when the power shifts throughout the state from the coast to the south to metro areas….so good luck to whoever is the best in 2010 and next year we can come back and do it again!
However, I am sure all the Gwinnett fans would feel much better if Colquitt was not lurking, the mere thought of the title coming to Moultrie and Region1 has to be Elm Street type-action. I have seen both teams and would give the edge to Grayson, because of the their stout D, but Colquitt can move the ball without panic.
It seems to some that making predictions are a sin, but last time I checked a prediction is just that…a prediction and not an assumption of providing a true and correct result…..my preduction is Grayson v. Brookwood in the 5A final.

The 94 Moltrie team was the best team I have ever seen. They wooped the pants off of my Wildcats. Lavaski King ran wild and the defense from Moltrie was unbelievable. You have a great program. As long as Camden has Coach Herron and Slattery, we will always be competitive. All of our coaches do a great job. We will have two games to schedule next season. I would love to play two teams from region 1 or metro Atlanta schools. I am not certain how good we will be but I know our kids will work their rears off to get better. This years loss to Hillgrove was a big eye opener. I think the hunger will return to our Camden players. Hillgrove did an excellent job . They deserve all the credit. We will regroup and be ready for another run at the State Championship. One good thing for Camden is we have eight players returning on defense. After the State championship seasons in 2008 and 09 we lost a total of 18 starters (08) and 17 (09). Our quarterback next season is a very talented player. We will have to work hard to replace the offensive line. I think we will be ok though. Good luck to all teams in the final four. All of you deserve to be there.

@CHEAGLE…….What proof do you have that Gwinnett teams play better competition than South Georgia teams? How many championships has your team won?
You just need to re-read my post to see who we played this year. Rated the toughest schedule in the state and it is paying off.
The only Championship that matters to me is THIS YEAR and we are still playing!!
I was born in ATL but moved away when I was very young and heard stories from my oldest brother who would have played at Marist and was 4 year all stste in NH. He was the best player that state had seen. I moved back down here in 1993 and totally respect the history of South GA football. But these boys today are not at all intimidated by that history and it showed this past Friday in Valdosta!!
@CHEAGLE…….What proof do you have that Gwinnett teams play better competition than South Georgia teams? How many championships has your team won?
Not bad for one county. A county that has been growing so fast that the boys the are playing in your youth program are not the same that ones that end up on your HS team due to redistricting. Brookwood and Paekview are the 2 schools that have been least affected by splits until very recently with Archer opening. Duluth, Dacula, Collins Hill have been affected the most from these splits with Peachtree Ridge & Mill Creek doing most of the damage. Mt. View and Archer will again dilute the young talent over the next couple of years. Many of the players at Peachtree Ridge this year grew up playing in the Collins Hill program until they were in 8th grade Many of the players on the PTR team that tied Roswell were from a very talented Duluth youth team.
Who many times have your school been divided over the last 5 years, ok the last 20 years?? Then we have to worry about Buford enticing our young talent to play for them. They use the GFL (our youth league) to recruit. there are 2 or 3 starters on their team this year that played with our boys growing up. It easy to win AA titles with AAAAA players.
Again, all we care about is the challenge in front of us and that is Brookwood this Friday!!
