cchs57 and squirrell – - given that the meat packing industry in Colquitt County has transformed mainly into chickens (with Sanderson), is the school considering changing its name to the Colquitt County Pluckers?
Seriously, though, congratulations on making it this far in the playoffs.

Valdosta had scored thirty points or more 9 times this year. In two other games, the scored 19 and 21 in victories. In their loss to Lowndes, they scored 17. Against Grayson, they scored 0. Grayson has only given up as many as 27 points once (won) and 24 points twice (1-1) in three years.

Colquitt County lost three games to start the season, but has gone 8-2 since. And in those two losses, they scored 27 against Lowndes and 29 against Valdosta. A lot of offense meeting a lot of defense.

Grayson (12-1) lost last year in the quarters and only scored 7. They lost in 2008 (13-1) in the semi-finals and only scored 10.

Grayson is playing at home, but Colquitt County has been winning on the road. Should be quite a contest, and anybody that can predict a final score has either a crystal ball or a lot more ability to fortell the future than I do.

Colquitt County beat us fair and square but I was not overly impressed with their offense. They did have a big OL and a couple of small speedy backs. But I have to assume the playing conditions affected both offenses as it certainly wasn’t the shootout I expected and both of those offenses had been scoring tons of points. Now their defense did step up and stopped us on more than one occassion, they are fast and tough. Haven’t seen Grayson play this year so I don’t know much about them.

At this point in the playoffs there are no easy games so I expect this one will be a tough one as well. Here’s to the best team winning, I could care less about this North South crap everyone else is talking about.

to hawk fan…yes the weather did play a factor in the 1st half.it was raining all the 1st half..the packers had 3interception in the 1st half..mc couldnt captialize mainly bc our defense played its best game of the season..2nd half the rain had stopped…thats when our offense got 2 rolling..it was just 7-0 halftime…the final score was 27-14..plus they called a td back on us..if we could of had the 3 to that mc had…the score would of probably been a lot worse..we won the game..thats all that matters

GR82BAG8R…now that is funny…CC Pluckers!! But, no I think we will stay the CC Packers!

Hawk Fan..Our offense has been awesome this year. I think the rain caused a lot of problems for them Friday nite. I can see where you would think they weren’t all that impressive because they didn’t put on the show they normally do. But…they were “good enough.” Too bad, you can’t come see the game this week cause I am hoping that they will “strut their stuff.” Speaking of strutting….chickens strut…maybe there is something to the name “Pluckers.”

Maddball, you’re right, you guys won and that’s all that matters. I wasn’t trying to be negative towards your team, just saying the offense didn’t look anything special that night. But hell neither did ours and we’d been putting up points. That last touchdown kind of iced the game but I wouldn’t agree with you that the score could have been much worse. It was close for most of the game but you guys pulled away late. My point was I think the weather affected both teams so I don’t think either of us had our best showing.

@ Kenny

I assume when you asked PatriotPower if the visitor side is big you are refering to Sandy Creek. Unfornately no the visitor’s side is not big. I know last year after we won the coin toss with Griffin we were not able to host the home playoff game because of the stadium’s overall size did not meet GHSA minimium size of 4,000 seats. Last year we were in AAAA. I don’t know if that is the minimium for A all the way up to AAAAA or if the stadium capacity varies from class to class.

@Camden74 – A big reason that metro area teams especially in Gwinnett haven’t remained strong over multiple years is that some of the players are being rezoned to new schools every few years, so it’s hard to build continuity and have a strong foundation like Camden, Lowndes and Valdosta. Schools like Grayson, Collins Hill, North Gwinnett, Mill Creek and Dacula have been divided at least once, Dacula, Collins Hill and I think N.Gwinnett, maybe others, have been divided a couple of times each. Dacula has been hit 3 times in Ten years if I’m not mistaken. When the growth slows and new schools stop being built, the real strength of the metro teams will really start to show. Until then I believe it’s going to be up and down.

Pete

November 28th, 2010
4:42 pm

I think Dacula has had 4 new schools pull from their base in ten years, with Grayson 2000, Mill creek 2005, Mt. View and Archer in 2009.

If you have twice as many teams in the playoffs to start, it should only stand to reason that you’ll probably have more teams make it to the semi finals or finals!

Come on man- Gwinnett teams beat each other up all year long. We don’t play our 2nd & 3rd string in the 2nd have of most of our games like a lot of South GA teams can. 1AAAAA has on 4 region games and then they can schedule 3A & 4A teams for virtual bye weeks. CH’s 1st 4 games were against 4 of the 8 Region champs.

If you want to play us early in the year them come on up…it will only makes us stronger for the playoffs!!!
