@Wildcat12 – here is a very brief list of a little bit of the trash talk that came from Valdosta. This is the real example of what YOU whined about us Gwinettians saying, but you made it all up. Every word. Face facts. I called you for lying then. I say were dishonest from the start.
SportsFan31313 November 20th, 2010 4:13 pm I really believe that Valdosta will be ready this time when Valdosta and Lowndes meet this week. This game should be on ESPN This game is worth the price of admission. Can we say Clash Of The Champions?
BKSMITH14 November 20th, 2010 9:36 pm lowndes will have to earn a title and if they do it will just add to the souths dominace. i can assure you a n ga team will not win it all.
iSoar11 November 20th, 2010 10:07 pm Grayson fluked a pretty good NG team. That same thing won’t happen to Valdosta (especially IN Valdosta).
Valdosta_Wildcat_Fan November 22nd, 2010 3:53 pm As far as Grayson, I watched them play N. Gwinnette on television in Lithonia late Friday night and I am not impressed at all. Cats are going to the Dome December 2010.

BKSMITH14 November 23rd, 2010 12:14 am i was watching some youtube videos of lowndes and i came across some comments of people saying the refs in the camden and lowndes game from last year were paid off. . . . i have heard so much about this that i now beleive there must be something behind it bc honestly they were horrible.

From Where I Sit November 23rd, 2010 11:57 am Not so fast my friends!!! Valdosta and Lowndes will be big winners this weekend as Region 1 is the hardest region to play in. Enough Said!
yo November 23rd, 2010 2:38 pm So lets see the last time Lowndes lost a home playoff game was to Collins Hill. Hmmmmmmm! I’m thinking these kids will know all about that and C. H. will stand for Considerably Humbled when the Eagles make their way back to Gwinnet.
BKSMITH14 November 23rd, 2010 3:50 pm @ AFAN, you are an idiot !!!! your living in the past. 2001? please, things have changed at lowndes since then. that team went 6-4. not even the same team or same offense. grow up!!!

Yeah, now that 3 of 4 Gwinnett teams won, there’s some Gwinnett loud mouths on this blog. ‘A Fan’ I believe was a Lowndes or Valdosta fan until we caught on. And fortunately, there are a lot of classy Lowndes, Valdosta, and Camden County fans here. We met three from Camden County last night. I wish those type of people populated this blog. We’d never have this kind of conversation.

The Hooch offense looked more like itself last night as the Cougars rolled over Dutchtown 37-14 last night.
Congrats to the Dutchtown Bulldogs on a great season.
Next stop for Hooch is Statesboro and it is time for the Cougars to head down south and play the Blue Devils. Fitting that we are going south to play a group of devils……I know that Statesboro has a really good team and on top of that, they are a program that has been fortunate enought to hoist a state championship so our boys will have their work cut out for them.
I AM CALLING ALL ALUMNI OF CHATTAHOOCHEE WHO ARE IN SOUTH GEORGIA (ESPECIALLY AT GEORGIA SOUTHERN) TO COME OUT TO THE GAME AT STATESBORO HIGH SCHOOL ON FRIDAY 3 DECEMBER 2010 AT 730PM!!
I am looking forward to a good game and looking forward to the drive back to Johns Creek with another Cougar win and a trip to downtown to the Dome!!

@Kell Dad you must not have been reading the same posts I have since the playoffs started. It was NOTHING but Kell posters (perhaps imposters?) talking trash along with East Paulding about how that was the definite match up. No one could score on those defenses yadda yadda yadda. Tout your team, fine. But when you lose and get called on it don’t pretend it wasn’t there.
I have no idea what the out come of Tucker vs. Starr’s Mill will be other than to say a lot of teams are SHOCKED at Tucker’s team speed when they actually get on the field with them.

Good Fan, Hallford Stadium is closer than Adams Stadium is to Tucker. About 4-5 miles I guess. Adams is about 6-7 miles away. Much easier to get to Hallford from Tucker. Hallford was Tucker’s “home” stadium for many years. Sharing with Clarkston, Redan and Stone Mountain. Redan used to beat Tucker good back in the day!
Throughout this year it was hard to tell if Tucker’s division was weak or if Tucker was strong. I guess they are pretty strong. The kids are really hard workers in the offseason. Football is important to them and the Fitzgerald Field Little League program prepares the kids coming up pretty good. They learn to hit at prcatice at a young age there. They say that is one of the most helpful things. Fitzgerald also feeds many of the Gwinnett schools.
I was suprised that Ware Co. did not match up better with Tucker. Tucker’s D is loaded and those kids are STRONG. Many of the Tucker kids work out at Rock Hard Fitness in Tucker. Lots of kids from other schools there too. They are actually pretty good kids and all seem to get along well together no matter the school. They really push and support each other in the offseason lifting weights and running in the parking lot and jumping. You should see them jump. Like cats! It is good to see the hard work they put in January-July pay off. Go Tigers!

@Wildcat12 – actually, I sort of apologize for coming dowsn too hard on you. You’re not the postal sort that BKSMITH14 has been, and going back through the blogs, I now see that.
However, here’s your posts that got my attention:
Wildcat12 November 24th, 2010 3:45 pm Now to everyone else, can we please stop downgrading Lowdnes? You have to give them some kind of respect, They play with heart and emotion. Valdosta as well.
Wildcat12 November 24th, 2010 4:13 pm Now everyone on here says Gwinnett county will beat all the South Georgia teams.
Now, all you have to do is document who those people were prior to November 24th around 4 pm. The facts are, however, is Lowndes and Valdosta WERE being treated with respect, and with very little of the trash talk I’ve already documented here. Remember, A Fan, I believe, wasn’t from Gwinnett, and very well was a set up. I have shown that the majority of trash talkers here weren’t from Gwinnett, and that the majority were predicting that the south GA teams would trounce “the soccer mom teams” from Gwinnett.

@Gwinnettdad: Not sure what you mean? I wasn’t making any prediction. Just stating what Grayon’s record is now against teams from Mid/South GA. And maybe teasing some of our friends from reg 1 a little.
Valdosta was interesting in that they have some of their fans seated on the visitors side. They were really quiet all night. I think a little shocked. It was a fun place to be for a game great people overall.

Clinch won the game. The GHSA site is incorrect. Clinch was down 27-20 late in the 4th. They scored but missed the 2-point conversion making it 27-26. With about 3 minutes left they held the ELCA defense then marched down the field and scored a TD and the 2 pnt conversion with about 1:20 left. Clinch then intercepted the ball to seal the game…and a VERY good game it was.

You can take that to the bank.
There can’t possibly be two posters in Georgia who post exactly the same way. Same exact lack of grammer, complete with misspelling, run-on sentences and lack of punctuation.
“BKSmith14″ is not showing is face in here and now an ID is created for “down south fan” who has not posted before today. Coincidence? I think not.
While I pretty much don’t give a darn about much of the trash talk BKSmith14 did, I DO find cowardice via creation of another ID to post rather irksome.
Show your face. Eat a bit of crow and move on. You’ll at least earn some respect from your peers and be able to remain a poster of (somewhat) good standing on this blog.

Enough of the talk about, teams made too many mistakes. That they lost because they beat themselves. It’s football, and if you go back through the season, everyone of these teams were here beacause: 1. they played hard 2. they had great coaching 3. a little bit of luck here and there. I’m pretty sure if you analize each team, each team won a few games due to a lucky break, IT’S FOOTBALL. It’s suppose to happen. No team goes through the year without a fumble, or interception, a fluubed put, and so on. Prime example: Boise hits the FG and they win, Alabama doesn’t fumble after a great gain, they win the game. As I said it’s part of the game. I’m tired of all the whining about you didn’t beat us, we gave you the game. One team has 5 turnovers yesterday, and a few write the game was a present. Another team has 7 Turnovers and still wins the game, go figure. Footbal is not just offense and defense, it’s about execution and if you score after a turnover, it’s good execution and taking advantage of the situation. So get over it, if your team lost the better team deserved to win, it wasn’t a gift.

Congratulations to The Stars Mill Panthers for playing a flawless game against East Paulding. It was a great atmosphere at Panther Stadium as both sides were packed out. Stars Mill really took it to the raiders last night. EP just couldn’t get anything going all night long. Stars Mill is by far the best team the Raiders have faced all year, they are very physical and I thought I would never say this but they were more physical that EP was last night. The Panthers defensive front 7 are very good, very tough to run straight into the teeth of their defense. We had trouble getting their linebackers blocked all night, which was keeping us from having success in the running game. Last night just wasn’t the Raiders night. Stars Mill had a game plan and stuck with it all night long.
Congratulations the Raiders on a fine season. Not many folks would of predicted that an 8-2 EP team make it all the way to the elite 8. You guys played with a lot of heart all year long. To the Seniors this year, you have nothing to be ashamed of. You guys lead the team in the very best possible way you could, you have shown the underclassmen what leadership is all about. I wish you all the best of luck in your future careers. As for all the underclassmen, next season starts now. You guys have some big shoes to fill and follow, I’m really excited about next season. EP will be just as talented if not more talented. Coach Reid and the assistant coaches have really got something going at EP. For the ones in the stands that want to sit there and cuss the coaches and think they seem to know more than them. Then I challenge you all to apply for a coaching job and get your butts out there on the sidelines and see if you can do any better. Those guys have been around football their entire lives, they have played the game and they have been coaching for many years. So if you all in the stands think you know whats going on then get a coaching job if you think you could do better. Because I don’t see it happening. It makes me sick to sit in the stands and listen to a bunch of folks who think they know whats going on or think they know how to coach. I was so mad at one point last night , I had to get up and walk down to the fence to watch the rest of the game before I turned around and said something I knew was gonna start something and cause trouble. So for those of you who have opinions on the coaches keep them to yourselves at the games, don’t yell out stuff. None of you seem to have a problem with the way the plays are called when EP is winning, but God Save the queen when something goes wrong you are quick to put the blame on the coaches. Again congratulations to Stars Mill on a fine win last night, and congrats to EP on a well done season. The Cowbellman isn’t ashamed one bit to say I am an EP Raider Fan. GOOOO RAIDERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

@ Score? – I can confirm that Clinch County did beat ELCA last night by a score of 34-27. I just read the game recap at the Henry Daily Herald website. Sounds like ELCA lost a heartbreaking game. Unfortunate that the AJC did not provide a recap of that game in their on-line coverage (ELCA IS a metro Atlanta team). Also, the hard copy of the Saturday AJC that I purchased this morning had NO high school football coverage of any kind -they normally do (maybe it was a late edition?). Did any home subscribers of the AJC get any coveage of the Friday night games? Also, you are correct in that the GHSA.net website incorrectly shows ELCA as the winner and advancing in the Class A bracket. Someone made a very big mistake with that goof and needs to make the correction pronto. Very disappointed in both the AJC in their lack of content coverage and in the GHSA for posting faulty information. I would expect better from both.

Colquitt County Packers!! Way to go!!!! No one can say anything bad about our defense today. Our own fans have talked against them. Anyway….defense strutted their stuff last night. They played their best game of the season. I see them getting better each week of the playoffs. I guess getting rid of the DC was a good idea, afterall. Definitely a lot of turnovers last night, but that doesn’t necessarily mean next week will be the same nor that turnovers will be the key to wins in the next round.
Many of the turnovers were self-induced fumbles and were not forced by defenses. There were fumbles on snaps, punts, etc., and you can often attribute a lot of that to the wet/drizzly conditions on many of the fields. If the weather is dry next week, many of those turnovers are eliminated.

Would have liked to have played that one without the rain and wet field but I won’t sit here and say you guys weren’t the better team last night and that’s all that counts. I was glad we had a good following of fans that made a lot of noise for our boys. That was a long wet drive home but wouldn’t have missed it for anything.

Ok, so Cedar Grove’s magical season came to an end last night at the hands of a good Burke County team. I’m not gonna say great because three fumbles on the five yard linem should be picked up and scored by the team who recovers it. We lost with a lot of silly mistakes and no calls. But, I will not detract from Burkes win. Congrats Burke County. However, make no mistake CGHS is a force that is sure to be reckoned with and no longer taken as lightweight in 3A. I agree totally with COWBELLMAN. Just support and cheer the team on. The coaches really do know best. We are a running team and if we fall behind in a game we stick with what has gotten us there and that is the running. Hearing fans yelling to throw the ball need to remember that is riskier for our team and is predicated on a consistent ground game and the play action pass. Simply dropping back and throwing the ball is not our strength. The interception near the end is a prime example of the risk.
Let the coaches coach. Us fans need to support out team in times of adversity and not just when all is going good. We need to be a hood example.
Thank you Coach Reid and all the coaches for your hard work and dedication to these young men.

Still have a few cobwebs from the long day/night but here we go.
Valdosta – The stadium and field are very nice. But what is with not allowing noisemakers? I don’t get that. I can see the no umbrella rule as excited fans could use them as a weapon (en guard Zorro!) but no shakers or cowbells or anything? We brought a pretty good crowd last night considering the distance and the weather predictions. We had a big tailgate (300 or so) before the game and then moved into the stadium to find Valdosta fans in a clump in the middle of our fans. We were spread over 4 or 5 sections and could group not up together. I guess I can understand for regular season games when there are more fans there (!) but for the playoffs where teams and fans are traveling so far it would be nice to be able to sit closer together. Speaking of fans, I was expecting to see the stadium full and it was a looooong way from it. The home side had at least 2 full sections with no one in them and if you are going to sell tickets on the visitor side you would think there would be more fans. I was also surprised that your fans were not a part of the game for almost the entire game. They weren’t on their feet and I couldn’t hear much noise at all even from the cluster in the middle of us. And what was up with so many people leaving at half time? It is the playoffs and anything can happen in the 3rd and 4th quarters. I am puzzled after hearing all season about the Valdosta fan base. Were y’all believing your own hype and looking past us so you didn’t feel the need to come out? I’m not trying to be sarcastic or anything as I truly just don’t understand it.
The game was amazing! Say what you will about who caused the turnovers but #17 had his own tip drill going before he was able to pull it in for the interception and pick-6. I knew from some of the comments that some of the fans had not done their research and believed Grayson was a one dimensional running team. Our QB is one of the highest rated in the state passing and without looking at the stats I think we had a very balanced offensive attack with many long plays coming off the pass. Wildcats, let me introduce you to the #1 defense in the state! Yep they gave some yards at times but keeping Valdosta scoreless says it all.
Overall it was a great day for us. I really enjoyed the trip, the tailgate, the game and seeing the coin toss with the Packers. Even though I don’t agree with them being there, I enjoyed talking with the Wildcat fans that were around us. You all are invited to Grayson Community Stadium next Friday for what should be a great semi-final game. I don’t know anything about the Packers but am sure they are a strong team in order to make it this far. I’ll be doing some research this week.
I wish I had some cool signature sign-off line but somehow clipity clop, clipity clop, butt! just doesn’t sound as good as tick…tick…boom and some of the others!
See y’all next week!

I bought a hardcopy of the AJC today like I have every Saturday morning of the high school football season. I like to kick back and read the recaps of each football game. This morning I buy a paper and it states on the front page of the Sports section to check out the high school playoff coverage at the AJC’s on-line site. I go to the on-line site and click on the “Friday High School Football Roundup” link. However, even at that link I find no recap or final score for the ELCA – Clinch County game. Geez AJC, you would think with it being the quarter finals of the state playoffs that you could have at least provided the game recaps and at a minimum a final score from ALL the games played Friday night. Relying on the GHSA.net site has proved futile since they are still incorrectly posting ELCA as the winner of the ELCA-Clinch County game. Had to go to the little old local McDonough, Georgia newspaper website to get the final score of that game. Just wanted to vent my frustration to the other bloggers who follow high school football on this site. Would expect much better coverage from the AJC and especially the posting of correct winners by the GHSA on their own website.

Fred, glad you enjoyed your trip down to South Ga last night, as a Packer fan we have gotten used to them (The Road Warriors). I am also glad that the coin toss took place last night, I look forward to watching a good game at ya’lls place next week if my scedule permits. Question though, Did the Packers Team show up for the coin toss, your wording is unclear as to the team there or fans following?
See ya Friday night

Then there were 4. Forget the teams that are not playing next week. The season is over for them. Let’s talk about who is left. Colquitt/Grayson. Brookwood/Collins Hill.Colquiit has proven to be as tough as advertised early in the season. Many wrote them off. I think that they rallied around the early losses. The talent was always there. The defense had to come around. Grayson, just plugged away at the mill, not looking for attention, just stayed off of everybody’s radar, but they know what they had. Brookwood may be the favorite now, well rounded team. Collins Hill is a point producing machine. Should be two great games next week.
