I think Gwinnett Showed they still have powerhouse teams. I went to Lowndes when they played Brookwood and destroyed them years ago. I think Friday November 26, 2010 showed that Gwinnett still has what it takes in 5A. Lets see if the coin toss brings both Semi final games to Gwinnett. Lowndes great game last night But Collins Hill has a TEAM….

Ignorance is an amazing thing… I have read every post all season and not once did a Kell poster talk trash, smack or other. Yet some posters find it necessary to accuse us of that, posters such as tucker grad ‘01. If attention had been paid other people touted the Kell squad those of us from Kell always stated we will let the teams playing talk for us.

Last evening the better team won to end our perfect season. It was unfortunate but we had a great ride and we are VERY PROUD of the Longhorns. We wish all the remaining teams the best of luck in their quest for a State Title.

REgarding the trash talkers and in general nasty, ignorant Folks who post just a reminder. Each team that takes the fields in this state and for that matter all states are High School students they give their all and we should all be proud of them, And some should take a lesson from the players. Little people boost their ego’s to make them feel big. So I end my post with mauybe next year some may mature and GET LIVES. For those who acted and wrote in support of their teams appropriately Thank You.

Once again Good Luck to all remaining teams, We are PROAD of our LONGHORNS now and forever.

Hook Em Horns.

Till next season.

Fred, I hate going through what I saw in the game because it seems like an excuss when Grayson should be commended for a well-played game. But 1 turnover was a dropped punt return, another was an interception that went through Mitchell’s hands and landed in a Grayson defenders hands, 2 fumbles were fumbled at the snap of the ball. BUT Grayson has a very stingy defense as shown in the second half, but the 20 pts that were converted in the first half were made off the turnovers described above. I love my region 1 but the Colquit vs Grayson plays right into the hands of Grayson’s defense. They have now seen it from NG and Valdosta and I must say they are experts at defending it.

It’s funny how Grayson was at the back of the t County Gwinnett bus early in the season and was not mentioned. Now all of Gwinnett wants to wrap their arms around them. Grayson has gone about their business all season. By the way if you have Gwinnett you had 8 teams in AAAAA playoffs. So you had a better chance percentage wise to have teams in the semis tham the other schools. Gwinnett has a lot of talent, no matter how many schools you build. If you are the largest populated county outside of Atlanta, then you should compete year in and year out for the state title, not every 3-5 years. Congrats to all AAAAA schools remaining. Grayson has done a wonderful job with what by most accounts is the youngest team remaining. Defense is always a mainstay with the Rams.

@ All the TUCKER posters…

Be VERY careful what you say this coming week to the STARR”S MILL folks on here…I can tell you after watching them last night they are THE REAL DEAL! They were physical, prepared, and WELL COACHED!

That is the FIRST time in 4+ years a team SHUTOUT EAST PAULDING!

STARR’S MILL is BIG, FAST, and have a kicker that never let the EAST special teams get in the game. It’s hard to run back punts, and kickoffs when the ball is KICKED OUT OF THE END ZONE!!!

Again…GREAT game last night STARR’S MILL you wanted this game more!!!

For our EAST PAULDING RAIDER’S…THANKS to the team, the coaches, and everyone involved in RAIDER football for another GREAT YEAR! Going this deep into the playoffs is a fine achievement for ANY school…another fun year of RAIDER football!

if you look at collins hill and their body of work, they have given up points in bunches to good teams. gace up 45 to brookwood, 24 to roswell, 33 to n gwinnett, 43 to mlk ,34 to mill creek. i wasnt really paying attention to that earlier but i think defense will be their doom against lowndes. they want put up more than 17 to 20 on lowndes and lowndes will score more than that. i wd b shocked if the opposite happens. the teams they have held in check towards the end of year were not that good.

HEY! SOMEONE, ANYONE; WAKE UP “BK” FROM THE SHOCK ????? OH WAIT; BK IS THE TURKEY FROM SOUTH GEORGIA!! BUT THE CROW MUST TASTE SO GOOD??? ;)

The best teams in a classification don’t always win, but the best team in a game does. And everyone needs to stop comparing what a team did or didn’t do in a weak or strong region. Games have always been about how strong the team you are playing is not the other teams in their region. Be careful about saying that a team is over-rated or is under-rated. Clarke Central made it to the state championship game being an underdog in most of their games last year. They got beat by a good East Paulding team when being the favorite. On any given Friday, any team can win!

Our little “piglet defense” has been play’en hard all year, every snap and given-up alot of point. Last night they proved what they can do when they play what my friend calls “slobber-knocker-football”. Even with our offense having 5 turnovers, the defense held Mill Creek to one TD. The other score goes on our kick-return team, fumbling a kick-off on our 4 yardline.

I have watched Packer D all year and tonight they were “wild-eyed” flying around the field, hitting everything they saw and swarming the ball-carrier. Grayson Coaches, go ahead and watch the film but it want help. You know you can’t stop a team when they want it more than you do! Pack D is Back!

It was electric in the “Hog-Pen” and believe me Packer Fans will fill the stands at Grayson. Should be a great game. We’ll see who goes to the Dome.

I honestly feel in my “gut” we’re giong to win the whole shoot’en match!

I don’t recall any “Peach haters” in reading these blogs this season. Everyone knows that Peach is a dominant force in AAA. If anything, it is that AAA is not talked about a lot and somewhat ignored. Most of the blogs are mainly about AAAAA and AAAA. I suppose that is to be expected since there are more people affiliated with the larger schools and many of them are near Atlanta, whereas most of the good AAA schools are outside the metro area.
When two teams of equal region seedings meet in the playoffs, there is always a coin toss to determine the host team. The AJC rankings are subjective and would not serve as a good barometer to determine which team deserves to host. You could do overall record, but that would favor teams with a weak out-of-region schedule (not to mention it would not help in the SCHS-PCHS matchup since both teams are undefeated).

CONGRATULATIONS to Grayson and Collins Hill Eagles. I was at the Vikings game and Collins Hill is a great football team. The game was evenly matched as indicated by the score and the better team won on this Friday night. Heinicke is an excellent QB but those receivers are the all around best group for possession catches I’ve seen. Great game, good luck the remainder of the season.
As for Grayson, I did not see the game and I know Valdosta had multiple turnovers. But that is what great defenses do. Grayson has to have an outstanding team capable of winning it all to have handled Valdosta as they did. Great season Vikings and Wildcats.

OK-my last blog on this. For 5 A-Everyone brags about Region 1. What 3 good teams? Look at Regions 7 and 8 and Region 1 PALES in comparison. I mean, come on! 3 of the final 4 are from regions 7 or 8. And the reason people keep talking the south ga v. north ga. football talk is #1 because all the south Ga folks start it and #2 the media hypes it. Bottom line, north ga has passed south Ga as a whole-happened probably around 2000. ANyway, good luck to everyone in the finals.

Good game Colquitt. Your defense kept us from getting anything going all night. We had opportunities but we either killed oursleves or your defense stopped us. Your little number 22 ran like the wind last night, don’t know how many yards he had but it seemed like a lot. Good luck the rest of the way.
