Indian Chief,

Yes I did pick a good Stephenson team over Hillgrove. Hillgrove was the better team obviously. But count your blessings. Their run ends this weekend against Camden County….

Grayson will have their hands full if they expect to come to North and leave with a victory. The only thing I’m feeling is at least 2 TDs North’s way. I know they will not take them lightly and will be ready to play. What’s next will be known after 10 pm on Friday. P.S. – anyone who has seen Camden play this year knows it will be VERY TOUGH for anyone to go their house and come out with a victory. They are not invincible, but I will eat raw broccoli if Hillgrove comes out with a win……

SportsFan31313 — NSWR got out “fan-ed”, out-played, and “out-coached.” They simply got Nawfsided. The new term when a GIANT underdog defeats the “undefeatable”! (kinda like we got “Tifted” in the last regular season game and ENR said that would NEVER happen to Nawfside.)

Indian Chief. I too would like to see Lowndes vs McEachern in the finals. What a game that would be. Can you imagine the hype??!! It would give us a chance to “put up or shut up!” Good luck Friday night. I actually hope you guys win, although it’s hard not to pull for our cross town rivals Valdosta, even though they HATE us. Most of Valdosta’s fans pull for us to lose EVERY week. Kinda like Warner Robin’s folks used to do about Nawfside.

Tellitlikeitis — I am having a lot of 2nd (and 3rd and 4th) thoughts about MLK vs Colquitt. Naturally I pull for 1-AAAAA teams. But pulling for them and picking them are two different things. Colquitt is having a lot of internal problems. The Def Coord got fired last week and the Offensive Coord no longer calls plays. Colquitt’s defense is terrible against the pass, and MLK is a great passing team. I have come to the conclusion Colquitt’s run will be over and next week they can start basketball. One good way to look at it (for them) is that they will have a head start in BB over Lowndes. (PROVIDING WE CAN TAKE CARE OF BUSINESS AGAINST NEWNAN!!!!!!!)

There are only a few CERTAIN things in life, ie, taxes, shipping and handling, death, and HILLGROVE WON’T BEAT CAMDEN!

Sure hope Collins Hill beats Roswell. Not dissing Roswell, it’s just we could avoid a coin toss if CH wins. (We actally enjoyed meeting the Roswell folks and playing them a few years ago when they had that all world passer.) Course that might be the kiss of death for us because CH might beat our butts. But at least we won’t have to buy gas to see it happen.

I was at the Lowndes game last week and Groves couldn’t do much against amuch stronger and out numbered team. Their team may have had 30 players {MAYBE). Without depth your a whipped dog. This week will be a different story friday night against newnan, i look for a close game unless Lowndes jumps ahead early. I believe Lowndes plays better at home because of the large backing of fans on both sides of the stadium. But the part that bothers me is there is no way Camden and Lowndes can play for the title. One of us will have to lose>Who shuffled this deck to start with?

Man there are a lot of great games in all classifications this week. Too bad we cant be in more than just one place. But my place will be at the Camden/Hillgrove game. The game of the week so far in north Florida according to news4jax.com. Hope my cats can get another. Hope the falcons have a safe trip down and back.
I’ve also got a feeling about the Grayson/North Gwinett game. I’m thinking its going to be a low scoring and closer game than a lot of people think. Maybe with Grayson sneaking out with the win.
You just never know, it is playoff season after all. :-)

All you Lowndes Fans, DO NOT WORRY!! I repeat, “Do not worry”. Valdosta will beat McEachern and glad for their matchup on their side of the brackett. Cats smell a “W”. We are hoping you guys win win win and meet us in the DOME!! Oh and for that matter, the Cats don’t want to hear Cinderella Seasons when it’s all said and done. All they want to hear is that they were never given their props. Keep on overlooking the Cats. How can you justify a blow-out over MLK and drop in the state rankings?

McEachern will have the home field advantage and the refs on payroll, but be prepared all you little indians…..Valdosta will bring a hugs crowd and the cats will overcome all the terrible calls and the “clock malfunction” we fully expect and still win the game. Mceachern hasn’t seen an exposive an offense as they will attempt to stop friday lol. Go You Mighty Wildcats!!!!!!!!

You’re RIGHT, DostaDawg!!! We know the state is against the Cats and we have the explosiveness they haven’t seen yet. The Cats are underrated and I am glad. Oh and I attended every single scrimmage and game this year, Valdosta basically been running the same plays all year until the last two games. I think the state is going to be SHOCKED!! There are only a few CERTAIN things in life, ie, taxes, shipping and handling, death, and HILLGROVE WON’T BEAT CAMDEN!

I am having some strange vibes. I feel a Grayson upset happening at North Gwinnett Friday. Not an upset like happened to Nawfside, but still a ’shot heard round the world.” Grayson has perhaps the state’s best defense, and if it can muster scoring a couple of TD’s, it can win. My prediction in this week’s upset special, Grayson 14, NG 10.

I also don’t see McEachern being able to stay with Valdosta for four quarters. Valdosta moves on to HOST Grayson Thanksgiving weekend! Make your travel plans Grayson!

I also don’t see a troubled Colquitt team defeating an improving MLK and its passing attack. Colquitt is especialy vulnerable to the pass and that’s what MLK does best. I am pulling for 1-AAAAA teams, but I see MlK advanciong to host South Gwinnett in week three, when MLK goes down. (Refer to my posts back in August when I starting singing praises for South Gwinnett, even before Todd and Michael starting noticing how good they are.) Norcross brought their “A” team last week. That means they will bring their “B” team this week. Brookwood will win and flip with Camden to see who travels on Thanksgiving weekend.

My jury is still out on Roswell and Collins hill. That will be a really good game to watch. Will Heinz, Heineke, whatever, (the Ketchup Man)pull his team through? We will see.

Finally, my Lowndes High Vikings. Newnan is bringing a really good team that has played great football the last seven or eight games. Reminds me of us in 1999 (7-3 going into the playoffs – we won the title that year). But one of Lowndes strengths this year is our “run” defense. it has been so good that teams have passed the ball on us almost 300 times in 11 games. It appears Newnan’s best offense is a running game, with their great running back and an athletic QB, behind a really big OLine. But I see Lowndes advancing, to either flip with Roswell or host CH and the Ketchup Man.

FLYER – The 40-0 vote you referred to was the official vote after several days of arguing and several “straw” votes. When it became apparent it was either play the Title games in neutral sites, or play them in the dome, our principal and all other region reps voted to play in the dome. Your comments make it sound like I don’t know what I’m talking about, but I assure you sir, I AM informed, and I DO know what I’m talking about. I think at this point it is a MOOT point, and we are arguing over a “dead horse.” Let’s go back to talking about the playoffs!

@Yo, Viking Dad. The local consesus is that Eldridge has brough some young players a long way. Look for one more year. It’s been a lot of close calls for Coffee this year. Coach Eldridge has instilled a lot of confidence in the Trojans. Biggest thing…. They are no longer intimidated by ANYONE.

sportsfan31313 – Let’s say “IF” Camden were to lose a coin flip with Brookwood and have to travel and “IF” we are fortunate enough to get to host Collins Hill or Roswell, would you be interested in coming to Valdosta and sitting with me at Martin Stadium Friday after Thanksgiving? IF WE BOTH WIN THIS WEEK! Ask Todd Holcomb or the High School Sports Editor of the USA Today newspaper about what kind of hosts AVikingFan and the Lowndes Tailgators are for home games at Martin Stadium. I think you would enjoy your time. And you might see a good game to boot!

@AvikingFan– First of all I did not bring up this topic and would love nothing better than to get back to the talk of high school football. I only only looked into it because I did not know the circumstances of why it was moved into the dome. Specifically your comment of how South Ga. was out voted and that was why it was moved. The fact is South Ga. voted for it. The vote was 40-0. I doesn’t matter that there were arguments or discussions about it. I’m sure that arguments and discussions every time there is a vote that effects all the regions. But like I said before, it is a moot point now and if anyone wants it changed all they have to do is get all the regions to listen, including the South Ga. ones. Now can we get to Football!!

AVikingFan, i really dont see NG losing this week. about the same chance that lowndes loses to Newnan. If i remember correctly, you predicted NG would lose to Peachtree Ridge too, we saw that turned out. Hopefully you are wrong this week as well for my sake haha. but really i think Lowndes playoff draw was similar to NG’s. we should win the early then get tested in the 3rd round against a good 2 seed.

BulldawgBite – I did not ever say Peachtree Ridge would beat NG, at least I don’t think I’ve ever been that crazy. Even if I did it would have been to help prevent Quinn of the Ridge from committing suicide! Heck he had already changed his name! LOL I don’t know what to think about Grayson and NG to be perfectly honest. Besides, I don’t really have a dog in that fight. I just woke up this morning with a funny feeling about it. Because of you and some other really nice NG posters, I hope I am wrong on this one!

We certainly will have our hands full with an ever improving Newnan team this week. I am scared to death about it. I truly think we can “stop the run” and win the game. Everybody knows we have a great pass defense. We shall see. Good luck to your guys Friday.

As an Alumni and a family member part of the Pack this year I have some inside knowledge into the internal problems you people say they have. First of all Hines had to go!! He is a talented coach but he couldn’t make it happen with a young but very physical and athletic defense this year. The defensive players love the changes made because they run a totally different defense than ran all year. They brought back the “1994 State Champions” style defense back. Smash mouth and flying to the ball!! As far as Propst calling the plays, they have no problem with it!! Same plays but speeds it up so the defense dont have time to bring on fresh players. I have watched a couple of films on MLK and yes they are a very talented team but the defense is very suseptable to the run and Brown can pick apart the secondary. MLK Qb is a very talented but he is not much of a scrambler. I may be wrong but thats my observation. He is good at throwing short passes but the new pack D can hem that us. It should be a great game!! Pack 47 MLK 17

PackerAlumni66 – I hope you’re right man! Colquitt can beat MLK if it runs the ball and controls the clock. Something Propst doesn’t ordinarily like to do. It will keep MLK’s offense on the sidelines! Colquitt has two good runners. The QB should run it some too.

That and deny long passes. Don’t get beat deep and you have a good chance to mwin. All of this of course is just my opinion, and everybody’s entitled to one.!

@ 68 Viking, appreciate the gift. I think the rest of Viking Nation is satisfied by leaving it at that. Be careful about bashing within this region. Oh…. I understand, if you are a 68 Viking, you are not use to winning anyway. What 2-8 the 1968 season? Never won more than 5 games till 1976? Finally won a Championship in 1980 and went limp after that till the late 90’s. Com’on son, respect the home team and do your best against Newnan. Trust me, I am scared for you.

PackerAlumni66, The DC was a skapegoat, your defence only had one returning starter, what did you expect. And from where I was sitting at the Lowndes Packer game it looked like FaceTime was calling the plays; looked the same at the Valdosta game to, but If he wasnt he has the power to change the play to whatever he wants. That same DC had your team playing great defence last year in the playoffs, but its ya’lls program.

The Pack has two very fast and slippery backs. Two of the best I have seen in a very long time. I believe region 1-AAAAA will do great this weekend. If Lowndes plays like we all know they can then they should have no problem with Newnan. Valdosta is getting better every week and are a very scary team right now. It will be a very good game with alot of big plays made. I also believe Malcom Mitchell is very special and could poosibly be one of the top athletes in the nation. My predictions for 1-AAAAA are Colquitt 47 MLK 17….Lowndes 52 Newnan 14….Valdosta 27 McEachern 20

When do the computer “picks” come out?
If they are out, what do they say?
Naturally we all know that the game is played on the field,
but I do find the “puter-picks” to be of interest.

The Packer defense has to turn it up a notch Friday.
The spirit and desire are there, now we await the application of same.

Interesting….just ran the head to head match-ups on Massey Ratings. Lowndes defeats Newnan, Lowndes defeats Roswell (home or away), Lowndes LOSES against Collins Hill (home). As much as I hate to admit it, maybe we should be hoping for a coin toss next week if we defeat Newnan this week. Tried to run the McEachern/Valdosta match-up, but Massey doesn’t even know there is a McEachern High School….hmmm.

Lowndes 96 — To answer your question, Newnan requested 500 tickets and said what they didn’t sell they would return then to us Friday. They said they have a dinner Thursday night and that is when they will try and sell the 500 tickets. They are not selling them at the school I’ve been told. If you are out of town, I can get you some tickets. Just let me know how many.

Colquitt County will win again this week. Region 1-AAAAA will sweep this week.

I hope you’re right Sportsfan31313. Colquitt has a lot of athletes. If facetime can get’em to play some defense, they can/should/could/might win. Their best bet is to run the ball. My gosh, they’ve got 2 great RB’s and their QB can scramble for some yards too. That will keep MLK’s passing offense OFF the field! Problem is, facetime likes the pass, and too often “chunks it” when he should “run it”.

AVikingFan, I dont know if your going to see this since they took this blog off the main page, but I appreciate the information, im not out of town but I do work in Cook County and im not a season ticket holder so that makes it tough to get down there when the tickets are on sale. I appreciate your offer. If there only going to sale 500 tickets to Newnan I should be able to get a ticket at the gate dont you think?

Did someone order raw broccoli?

Thanks Hillgrove and Camden County for an exciting night of football. And huge kudos go out to Camden folks … regardless of what happens on the field, they know what Southern hospitality is about. They were a class act (with the exception of a few students who just need to mature a bit) before, during and after the game. It did not go unnoticed.
