It is great to see Brookwood back to being Brookwood. The Broncos are really one of the top big school metro Atlanta programs. I am going to tell you guys right now. In the AAAA classification, the State Championship will be two programs from south of the Gnat line. Tucker (one of the finest programs in this state) and Clarke Central (one of the most historic and decorated programs in Georgia football) are the only programs from north of the Gnatline that should get an invitation to this party. :-)

I am going to stick an asterisk beside Chattahoochee. That is the true sleeper school from metro Atlanta in Class AAAA. Kell, like every other Cobb County program before them, is going to get “exposed” early. You heard it from me.

By the way, it’s great to be a Northside Eagle!

The Carrollton and Cairo game will be the best game in the AAA playoffs no matter where that game is played at.

How long will this “Dome” state championship last? When will the state championship return by to the local football field?

I am with u True Fan on that issue. The dummies at GHSA stumbled on to the perfect formula for watching the playoffs, two weekend in a row, with high drama ending with championship game at some ones home field, I just hope GHSA will see the error of their decision and back up to the semis at the dome

Be careful Chelsea Fan. Posters on this board are overwhelmingly metro Atlanta. When you post things that suggest that five of the six teams reaching the largest 3 classification State Championship games will come from outside of metro Atlanta, you are going to gain enemies very fast.

Interesting. These brackets imply that Brookwood beats Grayson tonight as that is the only way Brookwood is the number one seed from 8-AAAAA and that is a bet I wouldn’t take. The computer has Grayson picked to win by 2. Brookwood graffiti-ed Grayson’s building entrance and field last night and I know the boys are going to be fired up! It all will depend on which team shows up to play – the second half team of the past couple of weeks or the first half team. IF the second half team shows for the entire game, Katy bar the door! IF the first half team shows, Brookwood wins big. Like I said earlier, I’m not taking bets either way. It’s going to be some good football tonight!

I think Lowndes can go deep into the playoffs but we must eliminate the mistakes. We are giving up way too many big plays on defense. This has been a problem that has plagued us all season long. Fortunately for us with, the exception of the McEachern game we’ve been able to hold teams off. If we can keep the penalties down and the big plays to a minimum I think we have just as good a chance as anyone else. But I must say we have played tough and Lowndes has gotten better. Let’s Go Vikings!!!!!

@ True Fan…ok it is simple… It is not about taking home field advantage away. It is about ensuring that wheather can not be a factor and that the two teams have efficient seating for the crowd. Sure the argument could be made that it hurts revenue for the program, but playing in that game is not an annual thing, or on their schedule as the last game of the season, for any team out their. I played in the dome in 07 against walton in the final four and it was the coolest and most fun thing id ever done. Why on earth would a bunch of high school kids not want to play on the same field as the Professionals????

I understand your point. I played at Camden. We went to the dome many times and even played you all, Walton, in a season opener. There’s no substitute for playing a state championship in your homefield, it’s high school, not the NFL or college.

Looks like Region 7-AAAAA needs tweaking. North Gwinnett #1, Collins Hill #2, Norcross #3 & Mill Creek #4 (if they can beat Duluth next week)

Irrelevant information for 5-AAAA. There is a “play-in” which amounts to the playoffs starting Friday, with 8 teams from 5-AAAA in the draw. You could have a 3-7 team advancing. Stupid. Sure would be nice if somewhere on the AJC website, they had the 5-AAAA draws for this Friday. I think other regions are having this “play-in” as well.

Hey Todd I think you better get out the eraser for region 6-AAAAA. My dance card looks like this:
Roswell #1 Based on Roswell beating Milton., even with a loss they finish #2
North Forsyth # 2
West Forsyth # 3
Alpharetta # 4 Based on Alpha beating North Forsyth. Its Senior night at home and the QB is healthy which means a lot of points for Alpha.

Congratulations to Coach Kevin Whitley and the Stockbridge Tigers on qualifying for the playoffs for the first time in 27 years. Great Job.

Now we have Sandy Creek this week and as a 4th seed will pull Peach Co. Tough tasks ahead but thats why they line up and play. Looking at AAA football in 2010 I think there are 15 teams if they put it together can make a run at a title. Stockbridge has the speed and athletes, but I truly feel lack of experience and youth will ultimately derail us. But hey, we all tie our shoes up one shoe at a time!

Now in Aug we were talking up Ronnie Bell at Sandy Creek. I told you then there were two Juniors in that region that were as good or better. Chris Moody at Henry should be the all region leader and Prunty at Stockbridge has been steady. If not for fumbling on the Goal line against henry, Stockbridge would be playing for a two or three seed friday.

Sandy Creek vs Stockbridge…Thats Upset Special. !!!!

ENR- Keep in mind Kell has not been playing Cobb County schools this year. Outside of Osborne (which might have well been a scrimmage) and Sprayberry they have been beating Gwinnet, paulding and Cherokee county teams.

However, I’m extremely interested to see Kell in round 2 of the playoffs. Lined up right now to where they will probably be playing either Flowery Branch or Clarke Co Central.

In “AAA” Dalton cannot be a #4, and Cartersville can only be a #3 if Dalton loses the play-in game this week. With both having the same record in region, Dalton has one more win against a “AAA” opponent and would have the tiebreaker if both win this week. If Cartersville wins and Dalton loses Cartersville would then be the 3 seed and Dalton would be out. If both win Dalton will be the 3 and Cartersville the 4 seeds respectively.

AAAA predictions are interesting, looking forward to seeing a matchup with Flowery Branch and Clarke Central. Buford scrimmaged Clarke Central and beat them easily at the start of our season. I don’t think CC is as good this year as they have been in the past, but anything can happen in the playoffs. It’s great to live in GA and witness so many talented high school athletes! Good luck to all the times in the playoffs and Go Wolves!

@SportsFan31313 I do not think the seeds are quite finalized as of yet… Newnan could be the R2 #2 seed with a win and a Stephenson win… I would caution anyone to lock in the brackets as of yet we still have a few seedings to settle this week; Region 1 looks locked and a few #1’s but the others are up in the air or atleast that is the way I see it I look forward to seeing them shape up after this Friday..
