@True Fan…
I agree that Coach Herron is really overrated, but sticking to the Wing-T didn’t cost Camden this game. The were driving to take the lead when they fumbled it. They were about to cut it to 1 touchdown with plenty of time left…and fumbled it. They lost this game because of execution not the Wing T.

@guwinster
I agree execution to a point. The Wing T works against a team that is undiscipline. Against a team that has national recognition year end and out, extremely disciplined, and well coached, the Wing T will never work. It will only get you so far and then you’re doomed. Look at GA Tech running the Wing T, if they get down by 14 points they’re doomed because they can’t keep up the scoring, especially against a good defense in which they’re repeatedly punting the football. This is why a great team and even good team can spread the field in multiple formations if they have too. Camden never has done this and never will. This is why when they compete nationally against top teams, COACH HERRON HAS A LOSING RECORD. HERRON IS NOT A GOOD COACH, A GOOD COACH ADJUSTS TO THE GAME AS IT GOES, NOT CONTINUE TO DO THE SAME THING THAT GETS THE SAME BAD RESULT. He ran that Wing T until the last second of the game. Camden has a quarterback with a great arm, but because they only pass 3 times a game, their rhythm will always be horrible and he will never have touch. Every pass will be either under thrown or over thrown. IN ORDER TO BE A GREAT NATIONAL PROGRAM YOU MUST BE ABLE TO DIVERSIFY IF NECESSARY AND BECAUSE OF THIS ALL CAMDEN WILL EVER DO IS WHEN SOME STATE TITLES. THEY WILL NEVER BE THE VALDOSTA OF THE 80′S. AND I’M FROM CAMDEN AND STILL LIVE IN CAMDEN!

Looking at the game on television looked like a good middle school team that got some breaks (Camden) against a great high school team (STA). Camden got embarassed on national television.

Camden County beat themselves in the 2nd half. Being 24-7 in the first half, and coming back after the 1st half and began dominating ST Thomas Aquinas in the 3rd Quarter said a lot about Camden County. It should be noted that St Thomas Aquinas was held to only 2 yards rushing the entire first half. They had a decent passing game against Camden County. The third quarter I believe they were held to only 12 yards rushing as well. Camden County executed very well on offense in the third quarter scoring two touchdowns with in four minutes in the third quarter bring them back in the game win 3 points. 24-21. It was the fourth quarter where simple mistakes cost Camden County the game. two fumbles in the red zone, and a pass interference that cost them as well. Had it not been for those crucial mistakes, Camden County would have won that game. It should also be noted that St Thomas Aquinas is a PRIVATE school and they can recruit talent from anywhere in the country. Camden County is limited within their County. If local public High Schools in Georgia were allowed to legally recruit talent as the private schools are allowed to do, Georgia would be unstoppable against any team outside the State Of Georgia. No doubt about it.

@Sportsfan it goes both ways… St Thomas made ALOT of mistake had alot of penalties.. Camden “dominated” the third qtr because they had the ball the whole time.. St tThomas didnt need to run because the pass was killing them. But when they did run it was effective. Hey no need to make excuses they lost to a better team..

Camden plain and simply lost to a better team in STA. I knew after the first five minutes of the game that it was going to be an uphill battle for Camden. Just one man’s opinion, but I think that Camden’s regular season schedule hurts them when going up against nationally ranked teams like STA. It looks good statistically putting 50+ points a game up against the Savannah area schools, but at the end of the day, the level of competition that Camden plays weekly just doesn’t prepare them for the next level. To be honest, no more than one, maybe two Savannah area schools actually has a legitimate AAAAA enrollment. Most of those schools are really AA or AAA schools playing up in a AAAAA region. Heck, there are only five legitimate AAAAA programs south of the fall line period.

The wing-t offense isn’t the best offense to use when going up against a team with the speed and talent of a STA.

@ Hurricane, “Short and Sweet”…..defense wins football games…Camden’s defense did not stop the pass. The wing T could have won that ballgame offensively…………………………………………………….

Bullnation,

ST. Thomas Aquinas had a lot of penalties only due to personal foul unsportsmanlike conduct. In the third yes, Camden County dominated like I stated. They were running straight don their throats on power football. Camden Defense was remarkable in the 3rd and have shut their running game down completely at one point.

No excuses though. St. Thomas Aquinas won. But that only means one thing for Camden County. They will not lost another game. You can take that to the Bank.

A good offensive minded coach with decent receivers can put points on Camden.. that 3-3-5 defense can be passed on but everyone so stuck on running against them and that’s not going to happen. With all the players Camden dresses out I don’t see why there’s not 2 schools in that huge county.
