Cannon Rules, I hope your Kell prediction is as acurate as last week’s prediction. Unbelievable! After 4 straight weeks of beating undefeated and ranked opponents, we still have people betting against us! We still get no respect. Hopefully after this week we will have a few more believers. Papa Longhorn 4…
Don’t get me wrong…last week was one of the BEST games I have been to involving EAST in years!! But I think you have to admit they are two VERY evenly matched teams…EAST just forgot how to tackle in the last 3+ minutes of the game and with the caliber team KELL has you cannot do that.
For the first time these schools played each other that was PLAYOFF atmosphere and a GREAT game…HOWEVER that was then and this is now…
HIRAM gets the nod this week because you are playing them at HIRAM and they will play KELL as tough a game as EAST did. KELL as you stated has 4 weeks of winning against VERY GOOD teams, and 5NAAAA is just too tough a region for any team to go undefeated. This is KELL’s week to fall but not by much…I expect a VERY close score.
I’ll stay with my predictions and we will see come Sat morn where everyone is at…

I’m gonna say Kell beats Hiram. Cannon your right about one thing, East and Kell are two very evenly matched teams. Both play solid defense and offense. Whats goin to hurt hiram is the inability to become a balanced offense and being able to throw and run the ball. They are a Wing-T team who doesn’t throw it much at all. I’ll take Kell 17-10.

Hate that I’m not gonna be able to come up and see the North/East game tomorrow night. I know a lot of those boys are lookign forward to that game. It should be a great game, as I know East is gonna bring it. Hope it’s a great and safe game. Go Wolfpack.
@Cannon Rules/Cowbellman-If there is anyway ya’ll could maybe just post a score every qtr or something I would greatly appreciate it. I’ve been trying to come up and catch as many games as I can this year but won’t be able to head back home this weekend and I think the anticipation of waiting until midnight to find out the final would kill me. haha

Keep believen Hiram runs a typical wing t. I do not doubt this will be a true test. I have nothing to say negative about Kell they are a goof team. Howerver I SERIOUSLY doubt Kells coach OR any couch in our region believes we don’t through the ball well, but I hope the coach thinks the same as you.

Another friday, another tuneup game for some and an establishment of programs for others. Think that I will go checkout that Lowndes/Ware game. That’s wither a blowout or Ware will make a game out of it. North Gwinnett tunes up against Meadowcreek, Camden against Bradwell, The Ridge against Mountain View. South Gwinnett and Parkview should be a good game. Duluth and Collins Hill is intriguing. Collins Hills needs a running game to go with their passing game as does South Gwinnett. Brookwood and Central may scrap. That Ware/Lowndes game has developed into a rivalry game. It’s being played in the SWAMP, we will see if Lowndes shows up and shows out. I have seen Lowndes twice this year and have yet to decide if they have the “IT” of other Lowndes teams. There is something missing from this team. Ware can make a statement with a victory, they are 3-0 on the season, but not ranked, a win could get them in. NG what happened to the balanced offense that was being reported on in the local papers? You should use this week to try to focus on the running game. Having two QB’s with varying styles is nice, but, No running game in the playoffs will cost you. Look what happened to all of the passing teams in AAAAA last year. Good luck to all teams this weekend, may you be injury free and show great sportsmanship.

You are right that bad calls happen “from time to time” to all teams. I also like your comment that when they do you “move forward”…
The EAST / KELL game was the first meeting of these two schools, and was an important region game for both teams…This I think had the emotions running a bit higher than some games…While I am not going to blame the games outcome on bad calls this game had it’s share of them.
Almost from the start this games officials made bad spots, missed offside calls, blew obvious pass interference calls, even blew a fumble call. They allowed late hits and “horsecollar tackles” and called plays back for illegal blocks that were nothing more than hard legal tackles. I don’t know if they just were not used to calling games with strong defensive teams or what the problem was but it was not fair to the kids.
Even with all this which caused the offense to overcome huge yardage deficits the game was still tied at half time and the kids did what you said…they overcame all this to play a great game…this game was NOT decided by bad calls, it was decided by VERY BAD tackling in the last 5+ minutes of the game.
What you have to question is without the bad calls would the game still have been as close as it was in those last 5+ minutes…???!!!
Anyway that was then and this is now…

Cannon Rules…. Your evaluation is right, but one thing…. East didn’t just forget how to tackle for three min…. Does that really seem right to you? Give credit where credit is due… Kell running backs… Took what they wanted….or I guess you would say… They remembered how to run for 3 min. You got to want it… and Kell wanted it more… It was not a memory lapse..( don’t make yourself sound silly)

Coach Herron, I heard will start back-up Brice Ramsey at QB tonight. His goal is to get him some snaps, with the first team. And some other backups will start as well. No discipline reason or anything, just to get snaps while the game has meaning. I went to watch practice yesterday and that was the word, because he was working with the first team. This kid and he is a sophmore is for real. Will be a top 2 or 3 QB prospect in the state by his senior year. I went to watch my nephew play yesterday he is on the 9th grade team. They beat Hilliard Fla JV team 60-0, that was our 9th graders against their JV. They have one more game against another schools JV. My point is they’re grooming these kids for the years to come. Normally we are Senior led team, but not this year, 9 of the 11 starters on defense will be back, a QB thats ready to step in and play. 20 backs carried the ball last week. 4 Quarterbacks played. Most will say he can do that because it was Windsor Forest, but he ran players in and out on every play against Central. 7 backs carried it against Central. Rotated the D-Line in and out all night, the same with the backs. 2 different kickers was doing the kick-offs. Didn’t throw but, 5 times but ran different recievers in and out all night. 4 different recievers catching a pass. So he does this no matter the opponent.

TD…
KELL / EAST…TIED at 6 at halftime…NOBODY took anything, both teams slugged it out and BOTH teams fought to get the ONE TD each team got…KELL missed the extra point and the BLOCKED the EAST attempt!!
3rd quarter…ALL EAST for the 13 to 6 score!
4th quarter…EAST driving for the WINNING TD…inside the KELL 40 when the KELL “D” rose up and held EAST on a 4th down play…turning point in the game as KELL drove back down to tie, this is the beginning of what I referenced as EAST forgetting how to tackle as you guys went for it on 4th and goal and EAST forgot to cover the receiver who scored to tie at 13…
KELL then all but ran out the clock on the next drive to go up 20 / 13 leaving EAST with 36 (+ -) sec on the clock. It was on THIS scoring drive that the EAST “D” missed so many tackles, didn’t wrap up your running backs and let the receivers have WAY too much space…
However either of us see it…THIS TIME Kell won and EAST lost but it was ONE CLOSE GAME and I still say it came down to the last possesion…EAST just ran out of time, 30 more sec. on that clock and we might STILL BE PLAYING THE GAME!!!

@The doc, yes SWD can still make the playoffs. They hold their own destiny and could either be the 3rd or 4th seed if they win the rest of their regular season games. Mays(4-0) has games left with Tucker(4-0) and Marist(3-1) that will probably determine the order of the seedings. I think these 4 Teams will represent 6AAAA in the playoffs. Mays, Tucker, Marist and SWD the order of finish to be determined.

Bandwagon agree with you on Lowndes this year and the “IT” factor.
Are they going to be like the 2007 team that started slow and was a big question mark but by year end was clicking on all cylinders?
They definitely aren’t the 2008 and 2009 teams who were as talented as
any Lowndes teams ever only to find out both were missing the “IT” factor by year end. The “IT” factor is what takes a team over the top and obviously Camden had “IT” the last 2 years even though on paper they
weren’t an equal to Lowndes. Just goes to show that talent is only as good as the “IT” factor.

I agree with ya’ll bout the “IT” factor! Lowndes had it in 04, got it in 05 after Ware, and slowly built it durinf the season in 07.
QUESTION TO THE CANNON RULES _ Just asking, you mentioned “horse collar tackles”. I agree they can be very dangerous, but are they “illegal’ in GHS Football? I think there is no rule against it. This is kinda like the “uncatchablle pass” rule in the pros where a DB can hit a receiver if the ball is uncatchable. As we say in South Georgia. “Ain’t no rule in GHS football about an uncatchable pass. If the ball is in the air and the DB hits a Receiver, it’s interferance!
I also think all face mask penalties in GHS Football are 15 yard penalties. And it applies to grabbing any part of the helment.
I do agree with the East Paulding posters that a lot better oversight and trsaining needs to be done to get officials in better positions to make calls. Especially when marking forward progress, out of bounds plays, etc. I remember the EP folks complaining about the officials at Grayson in the 08 playoffs, and we went up there the next week and had the same officials, and they made the same kind of calls – and non calls – that EP had complained about.
At McEachern this year on our first play of the game we were penalized 15 yards because an offical could see our number 7’s knee that was not covered by his pants. When the official came over to explain the call to Coach Randy McPherson, Randy said “sir look right there, I see 1, 2, 3, 4 McEachern players’ knees right now.” The offical said “Coach we called the penalty against Lowndes, not McEachern.” I swear that actually happened.
So when I hear fans ballyhooping about officails, I have learned thru the years they may be right. Georgia it seems does not have the training, oversight, and punishment for repeated bad calls that we need, especially with the emphasis placed on high school football.
I’m not crying over spilt milk, and like everyone says, we all have to “move on.” But I think Mr. Swearingen and his folks need to make some officials move on also.
Bad officiating can rob any team of its “IT FACTOR.”

SGTCHRIS it is hard pressed for me to blame a coach who have won three state titles in the past decade. To me the problem is the grangers do not have the talent now as they did back then. You can’t coach these players like you did with those teams. Coaches can not play a down in any game, it’s up to your SR and team captians to provent your team from losing 28-0 lead. You LOWNDES fans irk the H— out of me. You guys are the biggest cry babies ever. Its alway what Lowndes did, oh they beat themselves the officials blew the game. Do you guys ever lose. Now its the IT FACTOR, what is the IT FACTOR. Thats some made up term. Its not whose better on paper, its who is better on the field, thats the IT FACTOR. You guys had great players, Camden had great teams, thats the IT FACTOR. And I’m not a Camden fan, just tired of the crying from the Lowndes fans. The IT FACTOR is found in teams not indidivual players. Until Lowndes start playing like a team, it will never get the IT FACTOR back and will never knock Camden back to earth, because I think Lowndes is the only team that can do it, maybe not this year. Camden plays with the IT FACTOR and thats why its 4-2 Camden in the last 6 meetings. Those things make the IT FACTOR, you have or you don’t, and right now Lowndes don’t.

Losers whine about the refs, winners go home with the prom queen! East got sacked for an 8 yard loss on a 2nd and five play when they had been driving and couldn’t overcome it. Kell barely escaped an 8 or 9 yard sack on 2nd and five when they were driving, went on to convert on 4th and 1 (again) and then busted a big run. There weren’t any bad calls at those crucial moments, Kell executed and East didn’t, on both sides of the ball down the stretch.
Having said that, I have to pull for Hiram tonight althought they will have their hands full. As for the Boneyard, East better find some pass defense because North can really throw the ball. Raiders are home and own Paulding county until proven otherwise. Here comes the BOOM!!!!

Lowndes County had the “IT” factor last season according the the overwhelming number of posters on this site. Then, our Northside Eagles took “IT” from the Vikings and the team has played gutless ever since. Lowndes County is not a good road program and the Vikes are on the road tonight. It is challenging for even the most loyal Viking posters to identify big road wins for Lowndes. However I believe that Lowndes is going to put their foot on Ware County’s throat tonight. Playing in a very weak region, this is practically the last BIG game that Lowndes County has before going into the State Playoffs. It is important for Lowndes to make a statement tonight.

Speaking of imaginary “IT” factors, Camden County had the “IT” factor. That is they hit people in the mouth and executed at a high level. If Lowndes loses to a AAAA school, it will signal a season of multiple loses by Region 1-AAAAA programs to smaller schools across the state. When you look at it, this is a “must-win” for Lowndes County and the region the was once the nation’s best (when Northside-Warner Robins was in it…wink! wink!).

First, there is no team that can’t be beat. The “IT factor” doesn’t exist. Its all about execution and maybe a little luck. Lowndes, like many other teams, know the consequences of losing. Getting to the playoff should not be anyone goal…winning it all should be.

Good afternoon all,
Let’s all take a deep breathe. I have seen NG, Norcross, Mac, Camden, Newnan, Colquitt, Ridge, Brookwood, Collins Hill and Lowndes and will travel to see them in Waycross tonight. The most complete team so far is Camden, they have ST Thomas of Fort Lauderdale next friday. Granted they have only played Miami Central. But, it says a lot about your program when you are heads and shoulders above the region that you are in and you can go out of region and run the table on the teams who “compete hard week in and week out.” Seems to me that this shoud make you stronger due to the level of competition. Somehow that coach at Camden has instilled in them to operate at such a high level that they do not play down to the level of competition, but force them to play at their level. I watched the Camden-Central game and watched their coach, shuffle players in from the first whistle to the last whistle. Field position was not an issue, some coaches would stick with their starters at critical junctions, but I watched with my own eyes as 3-4 players were shuffling in and out on offense and defense. Based on the fact that most did not have their names on their jersey’s these had to be 9th or 10th graders, I may be wrong, maybe they could not afford the name tape. As I traveled around to watch other teams they seemed to be stuck with the 11 starters and 1 or 2 reserves, but most of the players never saw the field. I think that big games is where you need to get your reserves in, especially early big games. So that when the time come for them to get on the big stage, they have that experience. Letting them play when the score is 50-0, or 60-0 does not require them to operate with a sense of urgency. Those games become scrimmages. When you can shuffle 3-4 players in and out and don’t lose anything, then you have something special. North Gwinnett had a good game with Crenshaw, run defense is suspect as is Camden’s pass defense. That 1 back Crenshaw had, had over 150 yards rushing in the first half. But NG defense shut down everything else. NG was way to deep to have let that game get that close. A lot of players saw action in that shootout that Valdosta had with Brunswick. Valdosta has pass defense and rush defense issues. Colquitt has offensive issues, I think a lot of that is in their heads though. They are a very talented team, but talent alone can’t win you games. Newnan, I am lost for words. They have the size and talent, but can’t put the two together. Ridge is going to give teams troubles, they adjust quick, don’t take them long to figure out what you are doing and they will quickly take it away. I will give Newnan the injury to their RB, but they took away the pass and shut down any other attempt for you guy’s to run. Collins Hill has a great passing game, but no running game to go with it. Brookwood, just wears you down. Norcross csn make some noise, if they figure out what it is they want to do. Don’t get me wrong on this, I am not slighting on team another, still early.

I know we have had a rough Start…. But how come Nobody gives our QB the respect he deserves…. & The proper spelling of his name is **Johnathon McCrary** SOPHMORE 99ATT – 62CP 62.6pct. ***1151yds.*** 10 Tds. 4 Rushing TDs (IN ONLY 4 GAMES!!!!!). He is 2nd in the State of GA in Total Passing yards…. And He is FAR more Mobile than all The QB’s in his Class…. Ask LaGrange, Stephenson, & all who have played him!!! I’m taking a Slight hint that AJC may have something against how good the kid is. Bottom Line lets show some class & Give Credit when credit is due.

You only need look at last weeks KELL game and KELL with their high powered offense could only score 20 against the EAST “D”…The EAST “D” even with last week’s loss to KELL is only allowing an avg. of just over 10 points per game!!!
NO WAY North Paulding puts 42 on the board tonight…Yes the Wolfpack has been lighting up the scoreboard but so far it’s been against weak teams all with losing records…tonight is North Paulding’s REALITY check!!! Tonight they play a PLAYOFF claiber team!!!

DSGB That win last week was huge for those kids. To go into a hostile place like TCC and winnning. Blowing teams out can never really tell you how good a team really is. But beating a team in a higher classification that is a powerhouse in overtime with a young team, now thats a statement.

The “It” factor is for real. The “It” factor pulls it all together when the going gets rough. Another word might be “fire in the belly”.
If you don’t have it then obviouly you don’t know what is being referred to. And the fact is, if you don’t have it now you probably never will.
Outsider…..first you ask what is the “It” factor and pretend there isn’t any thing like that and then you proceed to define what it really is. Amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

SouthGARules- I agree with what you said, the only reason I am predicting 51-0 is because Coach Ballard is very quick to put the backups in, which in my opinion, is the right thing to do. Last week, we were up 50-0 on Meadowcreek at halftime, we only scored 7 points in the second half due to a running clock, the JV offense was playing, and even at that, we were restricting the play calling to little other than up the middle runs. Had we wanted to, we probably could’ve scored 2-3 touchdowns if we let the JV offense go wide open. Not to mention that we took out the starting QB after 3 drives, and took out the rest of the starting offense before the end of the first half.

TD and FAIR PLAY — Both of you are starting to come a little too close to getting a week off from this board because you’re making the conversation personal. Keep it to football and cut out the personal jabs and insults now. If we have to cite you again, you’ll get a one week’s suspension from the board. Logical, high-spirited debate is one thing. But you’re pushing it.
Everyone, remember to keep the chatter on the board centered around football. Personal threats, insults, etc., will NOT be tolerated. We’ve already banned about three people so far this season. Please don’t join that infamous list.

Lowndes 3, Ware Co. 0. 46 yard field goal, hit the post and bounced through! Interesting call – roughing the kicker on the Gators, Lowndes kicker Jed Solomon had to be helped off field… would have been 15 yards and a 1st down but Lowndes decided to decline the penalty and keep the points on the board. Good call considering how tough the WC defense has been tonight.

White Trash, I agree completely! Ware’s defense is very fast and strong on the DL, they have stopped Lowndes cold tonight – Vikings will be grateful to get out of Memorial Stadium with a W this year.
You know, Lowndes lost that close game at McEachern several weeks ago but LHS has really needed to on on the road more and face tough teams during the regular season. Other teams want to come play at Martin Stadium because they get a share of the sizeable gate receipts, and LHS is usually content to stay at home.
I can’t help but wonder whether this has contributed to the road playoff losses the last two seasons. At least this year Lowndes is getting more opportunity than usual to play some toughies on the road, including a galvanizing loss in a playoff-like atmosphere – this may help in the playoffs.
Lowndes intercepts Waycross with a minute and a half, now will be working to run out the clock.

WT, true, although this is not the season I would have picked to take on Camden, not after the way you beat the #2 team in the country a few weeks back. However, it sounds as though you get a lot of people back next year, so next year would not be a good year to have to play you either. In fact, this is probably just a bad decade to collide with Camden!
Lowndes and Camden each draw from a military installation set in otherwise typical South Georgia communities, so each school gets a mix of local and military kids who add a great deal of diversity to the student body. My experience at Lowndes was that the best (and worst! -ha) kids were the ones from Moody Air Force Base. With all those Navy students stirring the pot, no wonder Camden is such a dynamic high school.

Kell won again, 30-7 over #6 ranked Hiram. I know there are certain factors that you guys put in for ranking teams, and I honestly wouldn’t be able to do it myself. But considering strength of schedule, shouldn’t Kell be considered the top team in AAAA? Their opponents have only lost 1 game outside of their losses to Kell, and all of those teams have flirted with top ten spots if they weren’t in it. I know none of the teams ahead of Kell have lost either, and I’m not trying to take away from those teams (nothing matters till playoffs anyways), but they seem to be playing alot of weaker opponents.

Thanks valdosta fan.. Valdosta’s improving every week, they could wind up unbeaten in the regular season this year, will certainly hit the playoffs running…
Pop, no such thing as an unstoppable offense, especially one made up of 17 year olds. Lowndes had a raft of holding calls tonight that killed opportunities and promising drives, and the O-Line could not consistently stop the Ware D-Line, so the Gators got a lot of penetration. Also, Ware was probably the fastest D Lowndes faced so far, so Lowndes could not get around them on the outside.
They’ll have to do better when they hit the region games.

Marist beats Carver 39-13. It was 32-6 at the half, and then the Marist team shut down. Marist dominated the first half, with Carver having only one real drive and Marist offense moving the ball at will. In the second half, Marist had several turnovers, including one fumble returned for a td by Carver. I was really surprised this game was not closer, given how well Carver had played against some other good teams.

Just got in from Ware County. Ware defense played about as well as you could. Total offense for Lowdnes 123 yds, and 120 yds for Ware. That is total pass and run. I was not impressed with Lowndes, the speed and ability to get on the edge does not seem to be there on offense. Defense for Vikes is the strength. Ware has a good defense, but they have no offense. The QB for Ware has issues. If they could generate just a little offense, with that defense, they will give a lot of teams problems. The Vikes have a lot of work to do, their offense is not where it needs to be going into region play. Up until that run at halftime, Ware kept Lowndes their side of the 50. Lowndes had terrible field position most of the 1st half. Returned the favor to Ware in the 2nd half. There was no excitement to this game at all.

Reeze: How much, if any, was Northside & HoCo affected by Veterans opening. I know Warner Robins lost 35 players, the OC & DC. They now know how Gwinnett County schools (Collins Hill, Duluth, Dacula, Central Gwinnett, South Gwinnett, etc) feel when they lose students/players to a new school opening. I know other metro schools have the same issue, but I am not as familiar with the other metro schools as I am with Gwinnett.

Glad to see that Lowndes has stopped putting pedal to the metal to run up the score on weaker opponents in lower divisions. Oh wait. It was a road game! That probably was pedal to the metal for Lowndes on the road. At least the coaching staff showed why you should almost never take points off the board. I can’t wait to hear the excuses for this one.
Kell and Flowery Branch continue to roll. Those look like 2 very tough teams to me. And Roswell is making a comeback despite a slow start against tough opponents.
The pounding in 7AAAAA will start soon as the top teams jockey for division position.
Good luck against St. Thomas Aquinas, Camden.

I have just seen the most incompetent crew of officials of any (and it’s been a bunch) high school football game – EVER. Grady Stadium was the site of the travesty.
And, before you think I’m whining – St. Pius won so I have no loss to blame someone for.
It’s difficult to imagine how a crew of paid (and I will NOT use “professional”) referees could be so bad. Consequently, I’m left to assume that they were actively conspiring to influence the outcome of the game. No, never mind. I don’t think they had the brains to pull that off.

AVikingFan: GHSA provides good training for its officials with clinics, video training and written exams. You are right as the offiials need to be in position to make a call but you may not be aware of what that position is and what keys they have to watch during that play. One of the biggest problems with high school football is that the fans, parents and even some coaches watch too much football on Saturdays & Sundays and those rules are totally different than Friday night rules. Yes there is a horse collar rule but the rule states that certain criteria must be in palce before it can or can’t be called. It is a NFHS rule that pants must cover the knees to protect injuries just as all 4 buckles on the chin strap must be buckled. The one blog did not make sense as a penalty for illegal block in the back was nothing more than a hard tackle?? Explain that as they are two different things. High school officials try do an excellent job of officiating a game but yes there is an occasion where a call may be missed. If the official does not see the entire foul then he is trained not to call it at all. A fan sits in the stand and watches 22 players running around while the officials key on one to three players at a time. A game is not lost on an officials call but lost some where during the 48 minutes of play. If a coach teaches his players the correct fundamentals of the game, the players play the game based on the correct fundamentals then why is there a need for officials? I am sure that GHSA is always looking for more officials to replace some of the older ones that are retiring. By the way, game films are reviewed for bad calls by GHSA. How is the game supposed to be played…”come on ref you have to call that”,”hey ref you blew that call”, “come on ref let the boys play” or “it was not a block in the back but just a hard tackle”? As someone posted…losers whine and winners go home with prom queens. I like the comment that although he thought it was bad calls by the officials it was still the team that lost the game because of non-tackling.

Seems logical but asking cause don’t know. I LEFT the game last night at 21 to zip cause it looked like Lagrange would blow Shaw out. then listened on radio to total meltdown and was shocked. Amazing what a few TDs and just a little bit of confidence will do to a group of kids, might turn em into a team. g-lion: you’ll be interested in this one, too. i watched the marist/carver game on ghsa tv. i saw the refs throw a warning flag on the carver coaching staff. the marist staff was out of the coaching box, arguing with officials, and on the field the entire time. there was one dark haired coach, very short man, who was constantly on the field and out of the box during game play. guess what? no call on marist at all. their coaches have consistently shown some of the worst sportsmanship of any i have seen. we usually don’t see marist until the playoffs, but i have seen enough game film and televised games to gauge that in my 40+ years of football. i’m not saying that’s why marist won, but the refs should really watch that sideline on them and call it both ways. by the way, i’m not a carver fan so no anger.

Suwannee Ownz, why so spiteful? Lowndes doesn’t deserve your venom, they just play good football within the rules, have an excellent feeder system, and when they get ahead, they flood the field with clean jerseys, which is part of how they get continuity of success from one year to the next. But if the other team collapses in the first or second quarter, you can’t expect any team to rest its starters just one quarter into the game, they can’t improve if they don’t play. Anyway, I recommend more even-handedness (lots of teams score points in buckets including some you praised)… Also, relaxing might help, maybe through yoga, or aromatherapy…

If you combine the Northside and Warner Robins high schools , combined maybe 200 students more than Collins Hill’s 3400……I think you once said you were from the Warner Robins area .Imagine the talent if you were to combine these two schools……Hoco was hit much harder than Warner Robins , inspite of the drop in student population , I think they have a better team than last years squad.

Trojan94–I know personnel changes with the season. But in this case, yes you can blame the coach despite PAST success. I will give you instances where you can blame the coaching staff. First in the game vs cedar grove, who ran what looked like a spread offense, 4-5 WRs. All the QB did was raise up, throw it out to the OUTSIDE WR. Why? because the DB was “coached” to line up 7-10 yds off the WR. Then FINALLY in the 4th qtr, they moved up the DBs on their WRs, and thats when they started stopping Cedar Grove. All Shaw did was line up roll left/right and throw it deep, their RB, he has speed and balance so he has to be accounted for.
Do me a favor, go to http://www.lagrangefootball.com, click on videos, and just watch us on offense, game to game Think of yourself as a coach, and you tell me you wouldnt be able to figure out what play is about to be run just by our formations. I understand teams have base plays, but when you have made it easy for the practice squads of other teams to give their starters an accurate look of what to expect, then you get results like thursday night..So its the COACHES that have to put the players in position to win, regardless of the skill set of the player.
ONE more question, how do you defend 4-5WR sets with only 2 CBs and a FS, with everyone running GO routes? as was the case in the shaw game..again no in game adjustments (coaching).

Callaway replaced the old Hogansville High.. So unless athletes just up and decided to go to Callaway, Callaway didnt dent LaGrange’s talent pool
speaking of flowers, i bet quan bray wished he had stayed at Callaway lol!!!
I think we are in what i call a football lull, like the one UGA is in? where an 7-3, 8-2 record is unacceptable..well its never unacceptable at lagrange..but its a similar lull like we hit from 94-99..

I question Newnan offisive play calling(coaches confidence) with the defense getting 4 interception and two fumble. You get inside the 20 and plat for field goals and kicked 3 FGs and missed 1 FG and not getting 6 point each time to put the game away. Newnan didnt throw the ball into the end zone in none of these turn over opportunities. GUT CHECK FOR THE COACHES WITH THIS TALENTED TEAM! Titletown Fan: Trust me, partner, I know what Region 1-AAAA was. I have been on the field when Vadosta wasliterally feared. I have seen 8,000+ fans in Black and Gold traveling up with swagger. My point about the importance of last night’s Lowndes County-Ware County game for the Region is you have some issues if the Vikes lost to the Gators.
I had some real issues with people assuming that Northside was moving up to something new, since we had played in AAAA & AAAAA for almost 40 years while playing in the second highest classification for about 4 years. Furthermore, we have one of the state’s most storied rivalries with our cross town rival, Warner Robins, that has 2 National Championships. Outside of Valdosta, no program in the state has a resume like Warner Robins (and we had manhandled them while we were in AAAA). Furthermore, a team from Warner Robins (WRHS in 2004 and Northside in 2005-2007) was playing in the AAAA State Championship (winning 3) four straight years. We were obviously up for the task.
At the end of the day, no region has produced champions like Region 1 (at all levels). I would take someone to task who questions that. I will also say that teams from Region 1-AAAAA have underperformed across the board at a much higher level than recent years. If Lowndes had lost (2 losses in the first half of the season) that would have represented multiple smaller classification losses for the region. I did not mean to disrespect the region. I love teasing you boys, after so much chatter towards us. At the end of the day, I know what programs like Valdosta, Lowndes, Tift County, and Colquitt County represent. Even the most loyal fan would have to admit that Tift County has fallen off of the map and outside of Lowndes, they are all “suspect” in my mind. Remember, the second place team has had to travel to Camden in the 2nd Round. With the metro Atlanta loving, GHSA, expect that trend to continue.
Is Valdosta back? You guys get a more up close and personal view. That was my biggest disappointment in that region. I thought that programs would be much more competitive with strong Valdosta and Tift County programs. It just wasn’t. I hope those guys get it going again. You guys should see what is going on at Warner Robins HS. It’s really bad.

SouthGARules: The situation at Warner Robins has NOTHING to do with Veterans HS taking players. Yes, WR lost coordinators. However the downward spiral has been going on since WRHS won the state championship in 2004. The loss to HoCo practically is the nail in the coffin.
One may also point out that Warner Robins is running a different offensive system. The right question is have they been running he right system for their program for the past 5 years. I told you guys that our Eagles from Northside were on “upset alert” when we faced Warner Robins last season. Northside raced to a 20-0 lead and Warner Robins hung 21 points in the 4th quarter spreading the ball around, passing, and mixing it up. People were scratching their heads around the entire city. Everyone had the sense that the QB had no arm. Heck, he was one of the best QBs that Northside had faced in years.
You don’t go winless at Warner Robins ad struggle to put up points. It has nothing to do with players and a loss of coaches. From 1970-2000, Warner Robins lost a cumulative total of 55 games. In 30 years the Big Red was 316-55. Since Bryan Way (a very good man) won a state championship in 2004, Warner Robins is 32-27. We all know how this story ends, SouthGARules. He has half as many losses in 5+ season as WRHS had in 31 seasons. The new high school argument is not going to carry any weight in our parts. We are a “results-oriented” kind of town.

East Paulding refused to shake hands with the North team after the game, then ran down to one end of the field and taunted the North players as they were leaving. The East team played their starters to the last second of the game, even after their starting running back was slightly injured near the end (with a 30 plus point lead.). \
Then, on the way out, I noticed that some East fans had “hung” a replica of a North Player from a sign (inside the stadium). Shocking to say the least, since North has been dealing with the tragic loss of one of it’s players just a month ago (killed in a traffic accident).

Well it’s going to VERY quiet in here from the WOLFPACK posters as they made their FIRST ever visit to “THE BONEYARD” …the much “hyped up” offense that was “hangin’ 50+” on everyone must have forgot to get on the bus!!! EAST took the opening kick off scored a TD and NEVER looked back!!!
A packed visitors side that was filled 30 minutes before the kickoff and had fans still coming in as EAST was scoring the opening TD had to line the fences, cover the hill in lawn chairs, and watch in disbelief as the CANNON fired to signal TD after TD as our RAIDERS marched up and down the field.
In a game they thought would be a shootout our RAIDER “D” made play after play and kept their QB rattled, confused, and on his back ALL NIGHT long!!! The receivers we have been hearing about and showcased on “YOU TUBE videos” found out it is a bit harder to catch a pass when a “D” keeps you covered, deflects the passes, causes your QB to throw early, or just FLAT OUT takes the pass away for an interception!!!
With a FINAL of EAST PAULDING RAIDERS 47 / NORTH PAULDING 10…the game said it all as EAST (as predicted) goes to 4/1 & 1/1 in the region!!!!
so that only leaves HIRAM as the only Paulding County team left to fall to our RAIDERS…they visit “THE BONEYARD” in a few weeks!!!!

On 9/17 and 9/24, Kell was the best team. They won. So EP and Hiram fans accept that. No excuses, Kell beat both of us. #37 shows why he is a Super 11 selection. He never quits. One of he best I have seen in a couple of years as an all around player. Kell’s coaches had a game plan and it worked.
As for the Hiram/Kell game .. They just smacked us in the mouth. Congrats Kell, you are worthy of a Top 5 ranking and will win 5-AAAA North. Hiram’s players one flaw is it appears they are not playing with the intensity they played last year. They have a talented backfield with 3 threats. The line has to get better and the backs have to start reading the blocks better. Hiram coaches – Don’t forget what has got you to this level … Run baby run and the short passesto the flats and over the middle to 24 and 25. Get the ball to these burners in the open field. As for passing out of the wing T, it works as it did last year when you had 2 recievers that could make it work. This year’s may not be quit as good, plus the QB does not have as much time to set up and throw.
Seasons not over. Hiram will rebound and EP will roll. The Hiram/EP game will be big this year. IMO here’s a very early prediction got state playoff from Region 5-AAAA

Don’t get on here and start preachin’ “classy”, this was a game we had all been waiting on for weeks because of the history of North Paulding being split off from EAST PAULDING a few years ago. Many families on BOTH sides have ties to BOTH schools!
Emotions were running high on both teams as they BOTH felt they had something to prove/show…North players wanted to show they can “PLAY UP” to a varsity schedule and EAST players wanted to show they were still the team to beat after the hard fought loss to KELL.
In case you missed the location of the game…YOU (NP) were the VISITING team, I saw BEFORE the game NP players jumping up and down on the EAST logo in the middle of the field, NP fans/students coming in with a stuffed RAIDER style doll they were waving around, EAST kids with a stuffed WOLF they were having fun waving at NP fans, banners on the fences and if you say so the stuffed wolfpack player you saw!
This was NOTHING more than good natured rooting for each others team…for you to try to bring in the tragic loss of the NP player earlier in the year and try to stir up controversy is totally inappropriate and tasteless. Paulding County is a tightknit community and everyone felt the loss not just NP!!!
Take the loss last night, go home and learn from it…North Paulding is still having a good year and has more wins to come before the year is out.

First of all EP did not shake hands for the the safety of np players who were taking cheap shots at EP all night (like hitting the QB as he took a knee) if they would have shaken hands a fight would have surely taken place. The Sheriffs on duty are the ones who would not let the teams shake hands. Second of all there were no EP coaches taunting the other team. And finally, EP always hangs the same skeleton with the other teams helmet for every home game no matter who the are playing. Its called the bone-yard. get it? probably not. And which team was it that had all the personal fouls on the coaches and players. And which team had players ejected? Lets just say it was not EP.

I didn’t have a player in the game. I just call it like I see it. I’ve never seen a team refuse to shake hands after a high school football game. I’ve never seen a team stand on one end of the field with all it’s coaches and direct taunts at the other team as they were leaving.
As far as hanging the opposing teams skeleton, my first trip to East Pauldning. I would thing that someone in charge would put a little more thought into that.

I for one was disappointed in our coaching staff. I felt like they had no control of the team. Also very disappointing loss for the pack. I do agree it was a smart move not to let the teams shake hands. That could have been bad. There were a select few of our players (not naming names) that I was disappointed in. And as for the skeleton hanging, I can witness to the fact that EP always hangs it there. Now lets get ready for Hiram!

EagleNatonRising, First, Region 1 and Region 3 meets in the first round this year the brackets been changed, And some of these comments goes for REEZE as well. Warner Robins has great tradition fallen on a few hard times, it happens. But why you guys think your school (Northside) is so great is beyond me. You had one great class when you won those back to back Championships and thats it, won nothing before and nothing since. You all acted like your coach was greatest in GA history before he retired, he was not a great Coach, a good Coach. A few years before that you all was calling for his head. Why did the school system elected to go back down to AAAA. Could have elected to play up. I don’t like Camden, but I’m glad they put those hands on you guys like they did, it brought you guys back down to reality. So stop boosting up Northside, you have a good school, not great, without the tradition you guys think you got. Win multiple titles with different players with different a class, not with one good class. You will never get any respect if you win the title this year in AAAA, because everyone will feel you had to go back down to get it done, I’m one that seems to think it. Not saying the AAAA isn’t respected which it very much is, just if guys win its like playing against little brother, then boasting about it. You guys don’t have the storied program you think you have not known your winning Championships year after year, but if you listen to you all, you surely will think so.

SouthGaRules—- ENR is correct.. Poor coaching is being fully exposed at Warner Robins High. The coach had been running the Wing-T for years prior to this season because it was/is the only scheme he knows how to coach. They have better players sitting on the bench that are suited for the new offense the OC is trying to install. The receivers can’t catch because they have never had to ( or been coached to ) because of the Wing-T philosophy. Now they are being asked to run routes and catch the ball and they look bad. Under the Wing-T you wanted the 0-line to be small and and fast with a lot of misdirection and quick hitting plays. With the spread/shotgun they are trying to install the 0-line has to pass block and man up when needed and MOVE THE D-LINE off of the ball. When the coaching starts to improve they will stop losing. We hope the coach will figure out he needs to get his best 11 on the field for what he is trying to do, When he does you will see a complete turn around in a hurry. The losing is bringing out the worst in the Dixie Demon fan base. Next week it may hit a new low against NSWR if they start booing the kids. I hope it doesn’t come to this.

Just to clear the air…before the game the North Paulding players stomped on and one of the players spit on the shield and then decided to go into the tunnel that East Paulding runs through each game and stand there and wave at the East Paulding players while in the East Paulding tunnel. Next, North Paulding players tore down a sign made for the game. There was a lot of emotion in the game which led to the ref’s and law enforcement to make East Paulding to go to the other side of the field and not shake hands because they were afraid a fight would break out. To top it off the North Paulding destroyed to visitors locker room after the game. Not all the North Players tore up the locker room from what I understand. However, it was still vandalized. I think this is sad for everyone involved. I do think though East should have shown a little more respect by not hanging the same skeleton that is hung at every game out of respect to North Paulding and their tragic loss early in this season.

for dawgonit: If you call taking a knee at the 8 yard line after two consecutive unsportmanlike conduct penalties on NP, and then getting blasted after taking a knee on the next and NP earning yet another unsportmanlike penalty……..and then having the East Players simply point to the scoreboard as an example of taunting, then you are a bit too sensitive. I for one was proud of the East players and how they handled the situation and simply walking away at the end. If the East coaches wanted to be disrespectful they could have simply called a time out and stuffed that last two yard touchdown in the endzone…….but they didn’t,, they simply removed their team from a potentially volitale situation and tried to let the North team leave with as much of their own dignity in tack as possible.,
As one to have seen East rise to power over the couse of the past 5 years under Coach Reid, I’ve seen the both the good and bad that come with new found sucess. East teams in the past have had to learn the hard way what it takes to play big boy varsity football (ie TCC, Marist, Etowah, Woodstock). Now it is the North’s team’s opportunity to begin their assent to bigger and better things……like it was said before…..learn from the loss and let it care you the remainder of this year and beyond.
As a house divided myself, it was disappointing yet not totally surprising that this rivalry started out with such a bang.

I went to the Ware/Lowndes game and I have to say that I was dissappointed with Lowndes. With the off week coming and a chance to shed the on road blues. The offense was anemic, what 123 total yards for the entire game. The defense was steady. Ware has no offensive capability whatsoever. That QB needs a lot of work. I understand that he is a Jr, but if your are going to shock some folks, your offene has to improve. They had something with the short passes to the flat. ht could That could have helped with the running. Ware has a good defense, I think that they surprised Lowndes with the speed of their defense. Lowndes could not get that sweep to the corners, however that #11 was tough coming off tackle. That’s where the run yards was coming from. Saw nothing in the pass game. In fact this game mirroed the Mac game. Region play starts soon and Lowndes has got to do better to compete. If you are better than your competition, you have to play above them, not below or at their level. Ware is going to get some victories and make some noise with that defense, just get a little offense going, and turn it over to that defense.

I can tell you I don’t think Peachtree Ridge is the #3 team in the State. Mountain View went toe to toe with them in the first half. PR looked strong in the second half but some of that was because MV got worn down and started playing JV players. That did not matter to Peachtree Ridge because they tried to run the score up to keep face by keeping their starters in the whole game. Pretty low class. I think PR will get theirs eyes opened, at least I hope so. Very classless!

@dawgman — Concerning the Johns Creek quarterback, you’re kidding, right. First of all, Johns Creek has won 3 games in spite of its offense, not because of it! Johns Creek is lucky it has played a soft schedule in the weakest region in AAAA. Second, there are many other far more talented sophomore quarterbacks — such as the QBs for Lassiter, Camden, Blessed Trinity, and Carver-Columbus.

The NP team and coaching staff have a lot to learn. Poke a god team and you get 47 to 10.
Before the game the NP players got on the shield in the middle of the field and did the best they could to tear it up with their cleets and were also spiting on it and yes I saw it and so did NP’s coaches and they did nothing. Then your QB made a bad decision to run through EP’s helmet tunnel that East runs through to come on the field. During the game I heard that NP players from the start were poking eyes and hitting the crotch area of EP players.
Who knows how many unsportsmanlike like penalties NP had thrown at them.

AAAAA Traveler the Lowndes season is going to rest on the improvement of their offensive line. If they get better then Lowndes can go a long ways. If they don’t, well then they won’t….go a long ways. At this point the holes of the past 3 seasons just aren’t there. They are still relatively young but from watching this year to me that is the key to this team.
Defensively Lowndes is closing the holes of the early part of the season
and the defense will be fine.
Ware will be dangerous team this year. Very disciplined team. I think their offense is better than you give them credit and will show up a gainst lesser defenses.
That was a very good old fashioned defensive war and kind of fun to watch for a change.

Warner Robbins isn’t loosing because of the opening of Veterans. I’m guessing that Houston County gave current high schoolers the option of staying at the school they were allready at instead of having to move to Veterans. Thus, the 35 players who moved were probably all backups, underclassmen, or people fed up with the current system. Older high schools shouldn’t feel the effects of a new high school until roughly 2 years after the new school’s opening.

If Auburn/Alabama can shake hands after a game, Georgia/GT, Falcons/Saints, Texas/Oklahoma, Michigan/Notre Dame… I think two High Schools from the same county could have shook hands after an emotional game without incident.
These other rivalries actually kneel down and pray together after the game. I think it’s sending the wrong message to all involved to say “Hey, this is so big and they acted so bad that we have to seperate the two teams.”

wow — you are really passionate about the coaching box and Marist’s violations related to it. Based on my observations of coaches in Region 6-AAAA over the last five years, if you wanted to call a penalty for violations of the coaching box you could probably call it on all of the good coaching staffs on every snap. The worst I have seen in the last two years was the Appalachee coaching staff. But, it didn’t impact the game or its outcome. The real issue with coaches on the field is when they get in the faces of officials. So it’s really up to the officials to police coaches who interrupt the pace of play, particularly those who are in the faces of officials.

North Gwinnett got the same treatment on their field from a different team last year correct. If the team is better most of the time the better teams eventually wins the game. Right now Lowndes has Suwanees number and its in their back pocket. You guys are obsessed with beating Lowndes, that mostly means your envious of their success. Beat them no matter of the place, anything other than that, is excuses. Camden lost the coin toss to you guys last year, but didn’t make excuses went and handled their business, to win Championship its times you will have to win on the road. If the only way you can win is to get them at your home field isn’t saying much. How about a neutral site. Because your saying we can’t beat you, but if we get you at home we can.

Yo, I hear what you are saying. wE are 5 games into the season. That is more than enough time for teams to begin to come together. Why? Region play is around the corner. Lowndes is not the only young team out there. From what I understand Camden, NG,PTR, just to name a few who are young teams this year. Lowndes still have the same QB and backs from last year. They run the Wing T. It did not produce in the game last night or against Mac. Ware gave away numerous turnovers, but the offense could not capitalize. 5 games, there should be some improvement on the O line. If Lowndes play like they did last night, against Mac and even South Gwinnett, they will not be around long. Don’t care how many off days you have. That can work for you or against you.

Kell fan, I wasn’t actually playing. As a matter of fact, I didn’t have a kid playing. I never disputed that East had a better team or that they beat North convincingly. I am just pointing out the classless way the game was played (on both sides in some instances) and they ways the East coaches handled the situation afterwards.

dawgonit,
Just back away from the computer, you are making us look even worse with the whining. Our team got it handed to us and acted inappropriately from the minute we arrived. It was sad to see and I am more than pissed off at the NP coaching staff. They lost control of the team and even showed their asses. The whole handshake thing was how it should have been, I saw with my own eyes Sherrifs and the EP administration point the players toward the endzone, it would of ended even worse had they shaked hands. NP took cheap shots all night and ran their mouths, I would have loved to see us drill EP but we didn’t and we looked bad in the process of getting it handed to us.
EP also used about 5 different running backs the last two quarters as well as new guys on D, because I specifically noted another sophomore Rb they had out there besides 28. They played plenty of players but like before it seems like your vision was blurred. After seeing how much Reid would run up scores in the past I’m really surprised he didn’t, because they sure could have. We at North have a lot to learn and the coaching staff needs to get a hold of their players. It was embarrassing.

Kell has Pope, Sprayberry, Osborne & North Paulding left on your schedule…even IF Kell loses one of these 4 games and EAST wins out you still win the Region…after seeing North Paulding friday night no way they beat KELL, and not yet seeing Sprayberry (EAST plays at Sprayberry this week),
or Pope it appears one of these two teams have the best shot at an upset win over KELL…
of course you can always let OSBORNE beat you, that would make their season!!! Hmmm…NAH!!!
So yeah I will go ahead a call KELL the REGION 5NAAAA Champs “in waiting”!!!
I think it’s lookig like EAST at #2, HIRAM #3, North Paulding (for now) #4…Pope & Sprayberry may have something to say about the #3 & #4 spot!!!

Good Post…Hopefully North Paulding learns from this game…you still have HIRAM, POPE, OSBORNE, & KELL left, 2 at home & 2 away. Win the two home games, HIRAM this week and Osborne in 2 weeks then even with losses at POPE & KELL you have a 6 / 3 season…NOTHING to be ashamed of!!! Think REAL positive and upset either POPE or KELL (sorry KELL FAN) and look where you are…probably in the playoffs!!!
EAST fans will be pulling for you against HIRAM as that helps us in the standings…

Cannon Rules; I saw North play Sprayberry and Sprayberry definitely isn’t capable of beating Kell or East or Hiram. I’ve not seen Pope play and to me they are the unknown factor in the region right now. Not sure if they are a sleeper or if they just have not had to play a tough game yet. Either way I think that the EP/Hiram game ultimately will decide who gets the second seed in the region and ultimately a first round home game. (no disrespect to the south sub region intended),
Not looking too far ahead but doing so anyway. It looks like Region 5AAAA could do very well against Region 7 (chatthoochee, rome, south forseyth, sequoyah, lambert, johns creek, cass) in round #1 but round 2 will probably be against opponents from Region 6(Tucker, Marist, Mays, SWD) as I can’t see region 8(flowery branch, clarke central, logan ville, apalachee) putting up much of a tussle against 6 in the first round.

Well said WOLFPACK. I waw really suprised. I have been involved in EP the program for the last 4 years and will be for some time in that I have a junior and 8th grader playing. Many on the outside looking in are jealous and dont know all the facts. They go to a bunch of rumor mill websites (won’t name it here) and vent.
We have our problems, but for the most part are growing into a better program. Even the coaches are growing. I spent a week with this team in Florida at FB camp and they really love each other and are a family. They play for each other and the school.
The EP team is young and will only get better. The future looks bright.

cchswildcat86,,I think we win in a close one, but we must be mistake free. I don’t St Thomas has the athletes Miami Central had, but a more sound football team. Secondary must hold up. Central had 14 points off our TO’s. So that can’t happen. 1st down will be very important, must continue have positive yards on 1st downs, thats makes converting 2nd and 3rd that much more easier. We will be ok. Are you going to the game. The staduim is very small only holds 4500 and we got only a 1000 tickets and they are nearly gone. I heard they may call and ask for more. I’m going leaving Thursday, I got plenty of family in the area, a sister and her family along with aunts, uncles, and cousins. So this will give my family a little time to visit this weekend.

SGTCHRIS i watch the grangers videos and you’re right those teams had mismatches all over the field. 3 DB and a LB trying to cover 4-5 WR, can only work if you blitz. To me on offence your best playmakers are your WR those guys can catch the ball.

I think pope is def. the sleeper in this. I see them being the num 3 seed behind kell and E.P Then hiram N.P and sprayberry competing for the num. 4 spot. What im not sure about is how the region play in works.does the num.1 seed from A play B and that gives you the num. 1-2 spot from our region? If thats true does that mean only the top 2 teams from A-B make the playoffs?

@Titletown Fan, I agree that some players have been bust. But that’s a part of recruiting, no one hits the jack pot every time. Besides, whether or not a player lives up to expectations or not depends on many factors. There could be personality, system, environmental or the player might have been just plain over rated! I would rather have good players from winning programs who know how and what it takes to win, than a group of super stars whose egos won’t allow them to play together and win. I believe there are many factors that go into building a winning program. In my opinion, the intangibles are just as important as the obvious physical abilities.

North Paulding came into the Boneyard Friday night, got punched in the mouth and never responded. The Wolfpack drove all the way down to EP’s 2 yard line twice in the game and was never able to punch it in, from the two yard line folks. I said all week that if North Paulding wasn’t able to run the ball it would be a long night at the Boneyard. Well it was indeed a long night for the wolfpack and they found out right quick like what its like to play a playoff caliber team and an offense and defense that will hit you in the mouth. So for the NP posters on here that say you all have a Passing game that can’t be stopped just remember back to the Raider Defense shutting down those 4 good WR you have. Connely never made it into the endzone, and your QB kept having to pick his self up off the ground play after play. If North Paulding can ever become a tough and physical team they will be a team to be reckoned with.

@ War Eagle. Maybe i shouldnt say bad coaching because they are winning. He found a way to choked in the dome with a super stud team. My daughter could’ve coached that team and she’s only seven. Most of his assistant coaches don’t care for him. I’m just not convinced that he’s as good as makes himself out to be. Time will tell.

@ THE DOC………… U are probably the only person on the PLANET that feels like Tucker has bad coaching. Since the coach Stephens era started Tuckers record is 41 wins and 5 losses with a state championship victory..and loss in the final 4 to Northside Warner Robins by 3 points who was clearly the best team in GA that year not to mention ranked 15th in the nation and last year went to the second round with a very young not Tucker like team and lost to the eventual champions Sandy Creek…wat are you talking about like seriously.

Kell fan .. TOp team from north and south play for region champion and top 2 seeds going into state. 2nd from north plays 3rd from south and visa vera. The best can be 3 teamsfrom one sub region. Don’t know anything about Pope but Kell looks too strong after downing EP and Hiram not to win the north. 2nd and 3rd should be between EP, Hiram, and Pope. As for the south, it is really alot weaker with Lithia Springs probably out front and Douglas Couny and Villa Rica being the other 2. Predict 3 from north and 1 from soth to state.

@The Doc — Not sure I’d call the 2007 loss by Tucker to Warner Robbins in the state championship a “choke.” Yes, Tucker had a good lead at halftime, but that 2007 WR team was loaded — some would argue it was the best GA high school team in the last decade. I’m not a Tucker supporter, but I’ve been impressed with the results every year of the current Tucker head coach. I don’t know enough about the rest of the Tucker coaching staff to make an informed judgment about them, but something good seems to be happening there. If they lose in the playoffs, I’d be surprised if it is because they are not well coached.

Purple and Gold — Region 6AAAA “choked as usual”. What are you talking about? Yes, in 2009 6AAAA did not fare well against 8AAAA; kudos to your region for last year. BUT, in 2008, Tucker and Marist were in the finals and Marist won earlier in the decade and both have been to several final fours the last decade. I don’t think Region 6AAAA has “choked” many years — instead, the facts show that Region 6AAAA has been a dominant force for most years.

@cchswildcat86,,I may be a little late, but yes I will be there. I think I know who you are, does your son play on the JV team. And if so, does your name start with letters BC and you played offensive line for us under Coach Thombs. Also my name starts with the letters E.P and I played defensive back and wore the #5, we spoke at the game a few weeks ago. Also I saw our QB, the other day and he said you were headed to Ware Co. To watch your son play, if this is indeed who I think it is.

AAAAA Traveler you are right in that offensively Lowndes has a way to go. You can’t tell how good a team will be come playoff time by only 5 games, however. Defensively, Lowndes is close.
1999 Lowndes team was 3 and 3 after 6 games but with a few personel tweaks went on a 9 game run after that to win state.
2005 Lowndes lost to Ware around the 4th or 5th game of the season…..for that particular group of boys it
was what they needed to wake them up. Definitely didn’t look
like state champs the night they lost to Ware.
Would that team have beat Mac last Friday night? Hard to say, they weren’t playing Mac….they were playing Ware.
S.Gwinnet? Lowndes in my opinion was good enough to beat them again.
But different teams, different matchups, different schemes.
Can’t realistically compare.
As you know, offensive line is usually the most difficult to gel if it ever does.
So….lets just wait and see….will they jell to be good enough? I dunno.
Oline on Lowndes 2007 team didn’t look like much of a force 1st half of the year either, but by playoffs they had become the “strength” of the team and dominated.
I have a hunch that after an extra week of preparation this week
you will begin to see an improved Oline……but that is just a hunch.
And I have definitely been wrong on my hunches before.

No disrespect WarEagle, maybe not a good choice of words. My apologies. but last year all that was heard was 6AAAA with SWD, Marist, and Tucker. Chamblee pushed us to our limits. but Hiram had the same trouble with 8AAAA as you did. After looking at scores and listening to “knowlegable” talk, it seems there may be a huge 6AAAA-8AAAA battle coming in the state playoffs. Right now it appears that Tucker and Clarke Central are very strong. But NSWR, Kell, Marist, TCC, and Flowery Branch have the teams to get there.

If the playoff brackets hold true to form, The Tigers of Tucker will probably meet the NSWR Eagles in the 3rd round, with a possible match-up before that with either the Hiram Hornets or the N. Paulding Wolfpack…Flowery Branch or Clarke Central will battle with either Mays or SWD in the 1st round of the bottom half of this bracket, with the winner going to war with either E. Paulding or Pope…On the other side of the top half bracket look for SWD or Mays(depending on who gets the 3rd seed) to have to battle either Flowery Branch or Clarke Central(again, depending on who gets the second seed from their region)…I think this side of the bracket is a little easier for teams to get thru to the semis and finals…Look for a possible matchup of old foes Marist and TCC for a trip to the semis, with the winner meeting either Kell, Flowery Branch or Clarke Central…Confused yet? lol stay tuned
