Ex-Georgia Tech football recruit Jake Skole appears to be on the fast track with the Texas Rangers.

The Rangers promoted Skole to the organization’s short-season Class A team in Spokane, Wash. Skole, who was one of five Georgia high schoolers (No. 15 overall) taken in the first round of last month’s baseball draft, needed less than two weeks of games with the Rangers’ rookie team in Arizona to show team officials he was ready for the next step.
“It’s good to know the organization thinks so highly to move me up to a higher level this soon,” Skole told the AJC on Sunday morning. “I’m thankful and excited for the new challenges to come in Washington.”
The speedy outfielder was traveling early Sunday so he could debut in Spokane’s July 4th game later in the evening.
