Milton High basketball player BREAKS THE RIM on Tomahawk dunk — game delayed 40 minutes

Milton High’s Shaquille Johnson, one of the most prolific dunkers in Georgia high school history, added to his legendary status in a Florida AAU tournament.

The 6-foot-4 wing caught a pass while running down the court, jumped from outside the circle in the lane and threw down a Tomahawk dunk (over a defender) so hard that he snapped the back of the basketball rim into two pieces.

The game was delayed for 40 minutes while officials hauled in a new portable goal.

Johnson, who is playing with the Southern Kings 16U Red this summer, finished with 17 points, 9 rebounds, and four assists in the win over a team from Oklahoma. The rising junior has transferred from Salem High to Milton.

Milton is the reigning Class AAAAA state champion and a top contender for this year’s mythical national championship. The Eagles return all five starters, including the senior quartet of point guard Shannon Scott (committed to Ohio State), shooting guard Dai-Jon Parker (undecided, including offers from Georgia Tech and UGA), power forward Julian Royal (undecided, including offers from Georgia Tech and UGA) and guard Jordan Loyd (offers from Furman and Gardner-Webb).

The team’s other veteran starter, Evan Nolte, is one of the nation’s top juniors. The 6-foot-8 swingman added offers from Clemson and Ohio State this week after a stellar performance at the Peach State Tournament. Nolte also has early offers from Georgia Tech, UGA, Oklahoma, Wake Forest, South Carolina, Virginia and Oregon State.

Note: Below is video of Shaquille Johnson. Go ahead and forward it to the 1:00 mark. I don’t know if Johnson can dribble, shoot or pass. But I know he can jump out of the building. After watching him this summer, I am beginning to think the only basketball players in this state who can elevate higher than Shaq are the Hawks’ Josh Smith and, well, Travis Leslie (UGA).

No, Milton does not recruit. These player’s families just happen to want to “move” to the district. It’s purely a coincidence that this began when David Boyd was hired. Nothing to see here, folks.

Have you ever seen where Milton high school sits? The neighborhoods all have houses in the $600K-$2Mil range. How do these players afford to “move” to this area?

Sure, Milton HS doesn’t recruit….give me a break !!!! What a sham.

Wheeler High School does not recruit either. However families that want a high profile basketball program find a way to move into the district, regardless of the quality of education.

If I am the parent of an extremely intelligent child, I want him or her to attend Milton and would move there if possible (I did). If I was the parent of an extremely talentd basketball player (I am not), I would do everything I could to have him play in a good program for a good coach. There. Smart people prefer to elevate to higher levels instead of trying to pull people down to their level. Its also call natural selection. It can appear unfair but it is the order of life.
Now, Go Milton!!

“I am beginning to think the only basketball players in this state who can elevate higher than Shaq are the Hawks’ Josh Smith and, well, Travis Leslie (UGA).” Well of course you do, Bulldog Carvell, but that thought, of course, is a joke.

my question is: where does this guy fit into the Milton minutes??? Who sits? The only starter without major D1 offers has midlevel D1 offers. He’s a junior, I am sure he is not coming to Milton to sit. no way royal, parker, scott or nolte can sit. I guess it is Lloyd?

Not about who starts or not. About what you do while you are out there. He has all kinds of new talent coming out there this year. They may not take their places, but they are out there to “help”. Anyone gets hurt, foul trouble or needs to rest their legs to be able to play at the end,he has someone coming in who can keep the game going right where they left off. When they leave, these kids can keep the talent going. They are a team!

I saw a kid from the Atlanta Celtics dunk from two feet outside of the free throw and soar thru the air like a bird over a defender. His name is Chris Smith.

dequan jones, jj hickson, chris hanna, David Gonzalvez, and JT Tiller. all of those wheeler kids of old put this kid to shame.

Why couldn’t people just read this article, look at the video and praise this kid for his talent? Instead we have people on here worried about Coach Boyd, Milton and the talent of other kids. There is a lot of talented kids out there and hopefully they will have there time to shine. Give this kids his props and hats off for the parents for moving into a school district that has an excellent academic program. Remember as parents we all want the best for our kids.

I think this kid has major talent. As well as a ton of other kids in this country. It is funny how the kids today want to play and show their skills, but then there are these parents out there that is so jealous over another kid who is as good or better then theirs and they feel that it is okay to try and put done the kid. I mean come on! get a life, other then putting “A KID” done. Grow up people and realize that your kid isn’t gonna be better then everyone. The reason this country is so screwed is because no one knows what a “TEAM” is anymore. Good going “new shaq” I really hope you go far in basketball, you definitely have great skills and know the game.
