5:39 pm July 15, 2010, by Michael Carvell
Since 1985, the AJC’s Super 11 team has transformed into one of the nation’s most elite lists, consisting of the best 11 high school football players from the talent-loaded state of Georgia. Michael,
I hope you are considering Thomas O’Reilly of Pope. I have known this young man since he was 13 and have watched him grow if that was possible since he was huge then. He is listed as the #18 guard in the country and #1 guard in Georgia. If you look at his film all you see are pancake blocks. He has good feet and great strength. I wish he was going to UGA but we missed the boat on that one. Auburn is getting a future pro.

You have lost all credibility if you do not include A J Johnson in your final Super 11. He is not a “tweener” according to you. The only thing he is in between is smashing your face in or ripping your head off. He and Vaughters should be locks for both ILB positions. If he is good enough for the Under Armour game and the Army AA Bowl, then your Super 11 should be no problem. Get off of Chad Simmons jock.

@The Truth, I like AJ Johnson a lot. More than Vaughters, since Vaughters struggled last year while injured. One other note: The Under Armour and Army Bowl have nothing to do with this list. The Super 11 is the best 11 high school football players in Georgia not college prospects.

Grignols Dawg is one of those people that probably would have picked Fred Gibson over Calvin Johnson simply because he went to UGA. The bias is unbelievable. Just a heads up, these are all just kids. None of them are playing to their full potential yet. To say anyone being recruited by Tech isn’t worthy of the selection is an incredibly ignorant statement. You don’t have support from other posters because no one else wants to be associated with someone as ignorant as you.

Ronnie Harris of Westlake High School!! 5′9 170 DB with 10 plus offers from schools like Stanford, Ole Miss and Tennessee to name a few. All Region last season. 5 int’s for 162 yards and a TD. 51 tackles and 5 TFL’s. Shined on a defense that had several D-1 football prospects. Men lie. Women lie. Numbers don’t.

There are some kids out that get caught up in a system that doesn’t show their skills. For one is Andre Wilson who has been stuck in a system that cant make their minds up. One year they are in a spread and the next they are in the option. The kid probably has one the strongest arm in the state. That is not just coming from but a ESPN Anaylst. He has won player of the week award his 10th and 11th grade year in Rockdale. As well as QB MVP award at the NUC combine. This kid needs to be on this list. If you dont believe me watch him. So I dont have to say I told you so.

I am starting to read a lot of comments that are pertaining to South Georgia not having enough players on the list. While it is true that they do win state championship after state championship and probably the best athletes in the state, there is probably one factor that determines their credibility. And that is grades. Truth be told, every year teams from South GA represent majority of the state tournament. However, what happens to them afterwards? Most of them are ineligible. How would it look if they were on the super 11 list and ended up still undecided. Talent and how many offers alone should not be the only attributes used in determining the best 11 players in the state. Maybe if more of South GA players had higher GPAs then maybe more of them would end up on the list.

AJ Johnson is the best football player in Hall County. He is the only player from Gainesville High School football team to become a Max Prep All American football player as a Sophomore. He also was selected as a Nike 7 on 7 All Tounament Team member last year. You say you like AJ more than Vaughters, then what’s the problem? If AJ played DE he would be better than that other guy from East Hall that is a strong candidate for your selection. Get real, AJ is the Truth and deserves to be a super 11.

You can say what you want about the list of QB’s here, but when you look at the stats and what they did for their team, Rollins at South Gwinnett is the pick. He lead a team that was 3-7 the previous year to a 10-2 overall record, second in Region 8 AAAAA and a second round playoff appearance, He was the QB of the year in Gwinnett County and Stat Leader in a county that has 22 high schools, 18 of which are 5A and the other tops in their regions. He has to be the in this list, he has EARNED it.

Our standards are high in GA. For AJC Super 11, check out “Akil Dan-Fodio” , QB, Redan HS on YouTube or Goggle his name. This kid has the full package for high school and college, at 6′4″, 210, 4.6/40, gpa 3.9. As a sophomore, he set the single game passing record in talent rich Dekalb County by passing for 422 yds, 4 TDs, 0 Int, 15 of 21(71%), 28 yds/compl. He’s a triple threat: strong and accurate arm, great feet with escapability, and smart (Harvard has already offered him, along with 5 other D1 schools). Make us proud AJC, don’t settle for guys who may become good later. See for yourself! For his Jr. season go to: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WB01UAHP_u0

Andre’ Wilson is a must for this list. He has competed with 3 of the QBs on this list and has done just as good or better @ different camps and combine this summer. He has been name the no.5 QB in the nation from the National Underclassmen Combine is this year. He was in a system last year that did not show off his arm at all (Heritage in Conyers). But this year he is at Southwest DeKalb and I am sure you will hear alot from him. This kid can run all offensives well!!!!!!!!!!! AJC your are slippin.

Have you considered taking a look at Marcus Lambert from Wheeler? His team went 0-20 for the last two years but don’t hold that against him. I hear he is being recruited by some pretty decent programs. He is a really good football player and he apparently did extremely well everywhere he camped at this summer. He is an under the radar type of recruit but not because of his play. Don’t let the W-L fool you. This kid can flat out play.

Stephon Tuitt? This kid has received a lot of hype, but that is IT, it is just hype! What about heart and leadership? Size and ability alone are not enough to make you one of the best. (If you want an example, check out Dexter Morant – that kid had all the talent one could ask for, but no desire to play. I also think he is the same size and talent level)
Stephon is on a Team that has NOT won a game in 2 years. Is one of the best players in the state? Football is a team game, but players make plays that allow their team to win. I guess Stephon has not made those plays in the last 20 games.

All the Kids this year are very talented. They can put up the numbers we can all agree with that but what happens after that? I think that what they did for there team/school this year is one of the most important factors. I’ve watched a few of these kids live/or on youtube and I think that Swan and Causey are two of the best candidates. Swan has been a start four years and has done an awesome job at Grady High School. However, this was Causey’s first year as a starting QB at Mays High. An they had an outstanding season. Homer Causey is the all around athlete! I’ve watched him play last year basketball/football and both teams made to the playoffs with him in the key positions. And I think he was APS offensive player of the year last year. When was the last time that Mays High School has been this high in the rankings?

Homer Causey- QB mainly because he can play all systems. Tell me if im wrong anybody can line up in Spread/Shotgun in throw for 2 and 3 thousand yards mainly because you are throwing at least 25-30 maybe 35 passes a game.I personally feel the best QB should be the one capable of doing both. Thats coming from under center and also gun.I’ve seen Causey throw TD’s from both under center and gun with one of the best abilities I think is key keeping the play going when things break down. Both ALL-APS Players Damien Swann Overall MVP and Causey I think Offensive MVP
