Former AJC Super 11 member Jarvis Jones, who was granted a scholarship release from Southern Cal coach Lane Kiffin, will transfer to UGA or Florida State.
Loading ...
The 6-foot-3, 225-pound Jones will make recruiting trips to both schools within the next few weeks and likely decide by the end of the month, according to his high school coach.
Jones was one of the nation’s top linebacker prospects out of Carver-Columbus High, signing with USC over UGA, Florida, and LSU in February 2009. Last season, Jones was a reserve linebacker for Southern Cal last year as a freshman, registering 13 total tackles in 8 games. He suffered a neck sprain against Oregon and missed the final five games. He was not cleared by doctors to participate in Southern Cal’s spring practices under Kiffin.
How is the neck? Will Jones be given medical clearance to return to football? Carver coach Dell McGee said Jones was examined by several independent physicians, who determined that Jones could play again.
“He sought other opinions from other doctors,” McGee said. “Those other doctors said they would clear him if they were the active team doctor.”
McGee also confirmed to the AJC that both UGA and Florida State’s medical staff will examine Jones’ neck as part of a routine physical during his recruiting trips. Jones will also file a petition with the NCAA to play in the 2010 season.
Carver is a popular stop with college recruiters, as a pair of rising seniors — tailback Isaiah Crowell and defensive tackle Gabriel Wright — are also considered among the nation’s best at their respective positions. If UGA or FSU lands Jones, would it help either school with Crowell, Wright and other Carver players?

Could JJ be the start of a Carver "package deal' for UGA or FSU? (AJC)
“I think all of those kids making those decisions are doing it because it’s a good fit for them … it’s not because any players are there,” McGee said. “Now I’m not saying that won’t happen. But I think the biggest thing before any kid makes a commitment is how he and his family feel about the school they are choosing.”
What is the latest on Crowell and Wright? McGee said both visited Auburn on Thursday, along with other Carver players.
Jones kept the nation’s until suspense on signing day of his senior year. Will Crowell and Wright do the same? Wait until February to reveal their college choice? “Right now, there’s a possibility they could do it at one of the [December] all-star games or signing day, they just don’t know right now,” McGee said. “They could do it tomorrow or wait until signing day. That’s up to them on when they want to make their decisions.”
One last note on JJ: He left Southern Cal before the football program was pounded by NCAA sanctions on Thursday. A major factor in Jones signing with USC was the presence of Trojans linebackers coach Ken Norton Jr. , who left with Pete Carroll for the NFL’s Seattle Seahawks in January.

Southern Cal freshman-to-be, WR Markeith Ambles of Henry County, is thinking about transferring and a decision could come in the next day or two, according to GAVarsity’s Brendan Cosgrove. Ambles enrolled early at USC in January. Georgia Tech offered Ambles out of high school, while UGA did not.

How come GT football players take classes at Georgia State? Is that because GT’s football players are smarter than UGA’s. I doubt it. Georgia Tech’s campus is full of Nerds (non student-athletes) and dumb jocks (student-athletes). Get over yourself and your weak excuse for an athletic department.

These kids have as much loyalty as their job-hopping coaches and conference-jumping administrations. OK, so USC is on probation for two years. You still have a full ride at a relatively prestigious university that plays football at the highest level in a big time conference. That being said, I hope UGA lands him.

Carpenter would have played behind Boling at UGA XZAVIER. You’ll play behind Koltom Houston if you go there. Come to Bama, start after Carpenter is taken in the First round, and line up next to another georgia road grader- Big Chance Warmack out of Atlanta Westlake, the same school as Kiante Tripp the poor kid who’s career was ruined by Richt.

So – the hypocrite Richt will take another player, who had committed and played for another school?? hmm – interesting. Because I have a taped interview of him saying that he wouldn’t want a player on his team that did LIVE up to his commitments. That he thought it was wrong and shows a lack of “character and judgment” when a player flocks to another team AFTER having committed to a school. What a hypocrite CMR is.

Diamond Dogs Parole Officer forgot to mention that our offensive line should ALL have been arrested for the beat down they gave to the Tech defense last year giving birth to that whole run this state thing. I think felony charges would apply. In some states a beating like that is a capitol offense.
Roll Tide, how easy is it to be a front runner? Were you chiming in with all this stupid stuff three years ago when we beat you? Or 4 years ago when your whole team REALLY sucked and not just your coach? Poor winners are poor losers incognito. Or just losers, period.

Robert Hall pushed a student, former Georgia tek basketball player Brigitte Ardossi, into a bathroom and later slammed her into a door, and then slammed her into the wall of their on-campus residence, according to an incident report filed by Georgia Tech police.
Brigitte was bleeding from her head and had blood on her shirt when police arrived. A Grady EMS unit treated her. Robert Hall was arrested and taken to the Fulton County jail.
This incident took place LAST SUNDAY, and it took a FULL WEEK for it to hit the newspaper. A full entire week. AJ-C hovers over the arrest dockets in Athens, every few minutes.
AJ-C report on the incident NEVER ALLOWED ANY SORT OF post by ANYONE. This too, is TOTALLY DIFFERENT from how EVERY ARREST is handled in Athens.
On the VERY SAME DAY that this report was filed by the AJ-C, not allowing ANY comments, the AJ-C reported on Christian LeMay having sex on campus with a willing young lady, and the AJ-C ALLOWED COMMENTS.

Herelis, can you read? I assume you can because you can write. USC wouldn’t allow him to live up to his “commitments.” It wasn’t the players choice, the school said he CAN’T play because he is injured. They told me that the AJC was going to put a “Must have an IQ bigger than shoe size” requirement on these blogs, but I guess that hasn’t happened yet seeing as they allow you in.

Robert Hall is a Senior on Georgia tek’s football program who had an injury 3 games into his Junior Year last year, and he is Black.
Brigitte Ardossi is from Australia where in order to even visit the place, you must submit a color photograph of yourself and if you are Black, they go way out of their way to make sure you are not allowed to even visit the place. There is an Aboriginal Land Rights Act in Australia where every Aboriginal is given huge sums of money every week.
Besides being beat up by her boyfriend, Brigitte Ardossi, was drafted in the WNBA by the Atlanta Dream where she joins several Lady Bulldog Basketball Players, all far prettier than Brigitte Ardossi who is anything but. In the 31 games between Georgia and Georgia tek in Women’s Basketball, Andy Landers’ teams have beat Georgia tek 29 of the 31 meetings. 27 of 29 years, UGA Lady Dawgs have been to the March Madness NCAA Tournament. And, in football UGA is 60-37-5 vs the over-stressed Georgia tek.
Robert Hall was designated by Georgia tek to be the STARTER at Defensive End last year and weighs in a 265 lbs.
Full name is Robert Louis Hall, Jr. . . . Parents are Robert Hall, Sr., and Patricia Nelson.
Robert Hall was injured in high school, injured in his Sophomore Year, injured again last year, and now this.
Way to go Georgia tek, Starting Defensive End Robert Hall a hulking 265 lbs. football player beat up a girl, a student on campus at Georgia tek.
Georgia tek is 1 of the 2 most stressful colleges in America because of the crime in downtown Atlanta slums where the school is located, and because their students have no social life at all whatsoever.

San Fran Ryan,
It is of special significance that already 2 of the 85 Southern California football scholarship players have interest in The Georgia Bulldogs, already.
Southern California loses 30 scholarships, 10 a season starting NOW.
They remain, today, 31 games ahead of UGA keeping us from the Top 10 All-Time in College Football Wins.
I haven’t ever seen a list of the college football all-time winningest teams and seen it shown past 10.
It has been a long time further back than Georgia’s last National Championship in 1980, that Southern California has won a National Championship.
With the Big XII Oklahoma saying that it is going with Texas to the PAC-10, it will be a cold day in hell when Southern California can put up the wins under Lame Kitten that they did under Pete Carroll.
Southern California is probably a lifetime ahead of Georgia at 31 more wins all-time. This is our time to make hay against them. And, make no mistake about it, Southern California is who our target is.
PAC-10 will NEVER be approved by the BCS to have TWO (2) Automatic Bids, as is their request of the BCS already, since the Big XII is losing their automatic bid.
That is $20 million a year more than the $20 million a year already the PAC-10 gets, and they need that to come up with monies for 2 conferences that frankly both have had poor ratings. No one in the Land of Fruit and Nuts watches football.
So, therefore, if UGA is in consideration for 2 of the 85 Southern California Scholarship Football Players, Southern California could lose more games coming up than Georgia if we could just get our act together Offensively. If they then could lose 5 games a season, we could pick up some of the 31 wins all-time we are behind Southern California in 11th place all-time.
Other than that, I don’t really care other than they like everyone else has been coming into this state and stealing our best players, especially on Offense.
