FOOTBALL: University of Florida’s Chas Henry punts 75-yard FG, mentors other Georgia punters and kickers

The amazing feat by University of Florida punter Chas Henry wasn’t captured by YouTube, but Roswell High School’s Richie Leone says he’s a witness. Henry is working out this summer with other college and high school kickers and punters with kicking coach Mike McCabe in Prattville, Ala.

Who will be the SEC's best punter in 2010?

“We were standing there on the 40-yard line messing around, and Chas said ‘I bet I can put it through the goalposts from here,’” Leone said. “We were like ‘There is no way — that’s too far away.’ Chas stepped up and punted it right between the goalposts, at least 75 yards or more away. And there was room to spare.”

Leone, who has signed a football scholarship with Houston, worked out with several other Georgia-bred kickers or punters, including Henry (played at East Paulding High School), and Kentucky-bound Joe Mansour of LaGrange. Henry was a finalist for last year’s Ray Guy Award.

What about the cast on Leone’s right hand? He fractured a bone in his right hand after being injured during his senior season at Roswell. Leone didn’t think it was anything serious, but he felt a sharp pain when he began lifting weights in the spring. He got the cast off last week and will be 100-percent when he reports to Houston next Thursday.

Left to Right: Houston's Richie Leone of Roswell, Kentucky's Joe Mansour of Kentucky, coach Mike McCabe, and Florida Chas Henry of East Paulding

I’m calling the fashion police on Chas Henry. Gray and baby blue shorts do NOT match with a black hillbilly tee-shirt. Hope you aren’t cruising Gainesville in that outfit.

Dawg Girl…Black, like white, goes with any color. I myself would have picked a bright Gator orange with that ensemble. Verryyy fashionable….

Chas first team SEC? I would imagine a kid named Butler will have something
to say about that. He’s only the best punter in the nation. I hear his dad was
a kicker too.

Chaz will be getting alot more kicks in this year, especially after 3rd and short, b/c as i last recalled, tebow, mr. 3rd and short himself, has left the building.. To the dismay of all gator fans, john brantley won’t be running head on into linemen and linebackers 15 times a game. Does urban even remember how to run a pro-style offense? And don’t even get me started with the “abandon ship” philosophy the entire defense (players and coaches) has adopted since your last game. Gonna be alot more competitive in J’ville this year, hope we’re both undefeated when we get there! Go Dawgs!

And if my memory serves me correctly, a few years ago , there was a high school QB out of tampa plant , FL, who was a STUD and a for-sure “lock” for the gators.. i think his name was Aaron Murray.. :) I wonder how many FL fans were ecstatic thinking he would sign with them, only to be snubbed by the mighty Dawgs! Now all of you are back-tracking, saying he is over-rated, too small, un-talented, and so forth. Gotta love that state of florida objectivity!

Aaron made a good decision since he knew he’d be sitting on the bench behind John Brantley (who will be running a offense similar to the 2006 BCS NC Florida Gator offense run by Chris Leak)and was number 3 or 4 on the Gators quarterback recruiting list.

Is it just me, or is Chas’ head disproportionate to his body?

How can Chas be the best in the SEC? You are an idiot, no comparison! Give a little credit where credit is due. Mr. Drew Butler was All-SEC AND an All-American and the preseason both again this year. Actually, I’d like to see him line one up right where God split you for good measure. I know that horrible state of yours is always behind the rest of the US in fashion trends, popular culture, music, news and current events but come on.

it doesn’t matter how far you can kick if you have ‘m-oobs’ like the guy next to Chas

It must be the ultimate mark of how pathetic your team is when you are reduced to criticizing the fashion choices of your competition. Give it up mutts! You may as well pull on your jorts and join the Gatornation ’cause you’ll never beat us.

Whatever….Since 1990 out of 20 contests
UF is 17-3 vs. UGA(and last few weren’t even close)……UGA is 15-5 vs. GT So I’m not sure who the dawgs rival is, but it ain’t Florida!!! Go ahead, let me hear about jorts and mullets….while we keep kickin’ that @#&!!

As it turns out, your real rival is Auburn. Since 1990, UGA is 10-9-1 vs. the Tigers> So that is the class your in. Not UF, not Bama, and I have a feeling the tide is gonna turn in that Tech series.

Swampjacket forgets that UGA ruled the series from 1970-1990 15-5. Yep, Florida has owned us 17-3 since 1990, but UGA has won 2 of the last 6 and I see the series evening up again over the next 10 years. Go Dawgs!

Swampjacket, why did you throw Bama in there? We’ve won 3 of the past 4 against them.

Go ahead and be a typical a**, but get your facts straight.

Chas Henry is better than Drew Butler—look at the numbers and performances in big games (hint: Ga hasn’t had any big games).

How Dawgy fans can even gather the temerity to mention the UF-UG rivalry after recent annihilations, I’ll never understand. Beat UT & then talk about stepping up to an ancient rivalry with the Gators. Hell, You can’t even recruit Georgia anymore. Good luck with all those 2 & 3 Star recruits. You’ll be like Kiffy before long…. stay within 2 TDs & it’s a moral victory!

Hey Swampjacket, UGA is 4-4 against Alabama since 1990. Doesn’t sound like being dominated to me. Please answer how that is being dominated by Alabama?

The name says it all… Forget the fashion police and who has the best punter, when it comes down to the most important thing of all… National Championships… Florida is a contender while UGAy isn’t even a pretender, they’re a never-will-be.
