Tennessee football recruit Da’Rick Rogers had ‘a lot of bad dealings with UGA coaches’ before switch, according to QB Nash Nance
11:59 pm June 7, 2010, by Michael Carvell
Why did Calhoun wide receiver Da’Rick Rogers, the state’s No. 1-rated football prospect, make the last-minute switch from UGA to Tennessee last February?
Rogers isn’t talking, but his high school quarterback provided some insight into the infamous flip, according to the Knoxville News-Sentinel.
“The [UT] coaches are a lot more professional … He had a lot of bad dealings with Georgia coaches,” said Nash Nance told the newspaper.
Nance and Rogers both signed with Tennessee, and enrolled in summer classes last week. Neither Nance nor the News-Sentinel disclosed any specifics on the “bad dealings.”

Da'Rick Rogers (left) isn't talking but QB Nash Nance is (AJC)
Here are a few other items of interest from the article:
- After Rogers changed his mind, Nance and his father “got crucified a lot on the Internet.” Nance said both he and Rogers got death threats, but neither called the police. ”Da’Rick and I both got a lot of Facebook messages and wall posts that were insane. Nothing was ever serious – I don’t think.”
- Calhoun coach Hal Lamb supported and defended his players after they both switched schools, even if he was privately disappointed, according to Nance — who was committed to Vanderbilt before flipping to Tennessee. Nance said Lamb is very close to Vanderbilt’s football staff. Also, Lamb’s father, Ray Lamb, is UGA’s coordinator of high school relations. “I’m sure they all wanted Da’Rick to go to Georgia,” Nance said. “But [Hal Lamb] was real accepting of the fact that we signed with Tennessee. I don’t know about his dad. He’s a little different breed than our coach.”
- Nance knew that Rogers both liked Tennessee and was reconsidering his pledge to sign with UGA, but says he wasn’t sure about Rogers flipping to the Vols until signing day. ”It wouldn’t have surprised me if he would have pulled out a Richmond scholarship, signed it and gone there,” Nance told reporter Dave Hooker of the News-Sentinel.
Update: Both Hal and Ray Lamb, along with UGA recruiting coordinator Rodney Garner, could not be reached for comment on Monday. UGA spokesman Claude Felton told the AJC that UGA’s coaches are out of the office at camps this week, but was confident that Garner and the elder Lamb would not comment in response to Nash’s accusations. What about Da’Rick? He appears to be keeping a low profile, doing his public speaking via Twitter.

The one person who’s clearly NOT professional about all of this is Nance. Rogers may have changed his mind, but he’s an 18-year-old kid making a crucial life decision, so it’s understandable. There’s no reason to justify Nance talking crap about UGA coaches and staff to the press, however.
And I hope he was only referring to the current UT coaches. Calling Mark Richt less professional than Lane Kiffin is beyond absurd.

The Nances are nothing but trouble. Mike Nance tried to dictate what kind of offense would be run at Darlington. Coach Atha wouldn’t put up with it so, Mike pulled his son out of school. Nash isn’t a bad kid but he needs to keep his mouth shut. If it wasn’t for Da’Rick, Nash would be playing at Furman.
Nash will never take a snap at UT.

Bottom line is $$$ talks and BS walks. I’m sure Mr. Nance will be paying Rodgers along with his son to attend UT. This was really a no brainer for Rodgers. He is getting paid to go play football with his best friend. I bet one of them will end up transferring within two years. I bet it will be the one running his mouth about the UGA coaches. It was also a no brainer for the UGA coaches. Hudson Mason is more vauable then Nance and Rodgers put together!

Say what you want about Mark Richt but I have never heard of a recruit claiming “bad dealings” with the UGA program. How about giving us an example you little pimple face Qu*er.
Trust me UGA is much better off without Me’rick rogers anyway. The Dawgs are in the process of loading up on some serious wide receiver talent for the 2011 class. So that punk Rogers can take his little ghost white bed buddy and stay in Knoxville. I guess pimple face is trying to drudge up some publicity sense he will never see the football field his entire career. Better soak it up now chump.

Nance should just keep his mouth shut and prepare to hold the clipboard on the sidelines for the next 4 years. The only reason he won’t be watching from the stands is because Da’Rick wants to stand next to his BFF on the sidelines.

The only bad dealings were the Nance’s trying to force UGA to sign their son to get Da’Rick. Once CMR refused to be strongarmed into taking a kid that has no chance at ever seeing the field at UGA or UT, then the Nance’s went and found a coach who would. Derek Dooley is now Mike Nance’s puppet. If Nash doesn’t see the field within 2 years, he and Da’Rick will leave UT. You can count on that.

Want to know the real truth? Both went to Darlington and Nash left due to him losing the starting position to a Freshman by the last name Butler, watch for him to be on this spotlight here in a year or two. Then Da’rick doesn’t know how to listen to a girl say no and got asked to leave Darlington, he didn’t even last a year there after being “homeschooled” his whole life. Then he struggled to even pass at Calhoun…… great caliber kids! Good luck kids!!

Da’Rick will find trouble real soon at UT. He left Darlington because he was upset that Darlington “asked him to act like a leader” per the AJC. He wouldn’t quit picking on the small Asian students at school. It says a lot when the most talented player in Darlington’s 100 year history but was not allowed to come back to school his junior year. Kudos for Darlington for taking a stand for what is right. No one should be surprised at the crap that he pulled on signing day.

Good one romedawg. Folks around this area know the truth about Rogers being booted from Darlington. But you never hear about that in the AJC recruiting news. And everyone here in Calhoun knows that the only reason nance started at Calhoun was because Daddy bought the school a brand new turf field. Calhoun’s previous QB was only a junior and he had led them to the state championship game the year before. He got major screwed by Hal lamb and staff. I’m pretty sure the kid ended up quitting the team. Imagine leading your team to a state championship as a junior and then getting replaced just because your father couldn’t afford a new turf field. They had an all state QB who was there, but got ran off when the Nance’s came calling and proimising all sorts of things to the HS. He respects people’s word and deals honestly with the kids. That’s why it hurts UGA more than some others (like Bama) who are having to get kids off the roster every year to make room.

That terrible program beat the %^*&* out of you last year! It wasn’t even close. And UT has gone to the SEC Championship game since you last went and will probably go back before you. In 18 years of the SEC Championship game we have been 5 times and you 3. Terrible Program. Also a NC in that time versus a lot of underachievement from Richt’s teams.
Who is the terrible program?
Oh and we took your best lineman last year too. He will start for us this year!

BIG DEAL!!!
This is last years news – what else do you expect an 18 year old to say in defending his best friend>
Here is my take on exactly what happened:
– Da’rick Rogers gets a UGA schoalrship
– Nance (his best friend) does not – and is told by UGA they are not taking a QB in 2010 class
– Nash Nance gets an offer from Vandy!
– Rogers and Nance commit to UGA/Vandy!
– Kiffin calls on Mr. Nance (nash’s dad) – offers both so they can play together – and lure Da’Rick to Tennessee. Kiffin leaves – but Dooley is there to keep the recruiting going.
– UGA decides to get a QB – offers Mason out of Cobb couunty
– Nance family insulted that UGA did not offer NASH. Nance family brokers deal to Tennessee – sealed with a Truck to Da’Rick – whom the Nance family has generously kept an eye on as Da’Rick’s family situation is not the best.
– Both commit to Tennessee.
At the end of the day – both kids get to play together at a major D1 school – GOOD FOR THEM.
Also – the Nance family can not complain about integrity and loyalty of the people of Calhoun regarding their business and feelings – as both kids “committed” to UGA/VAndy – then left both schools high and dry!!! But this is their option – Good For them.
Now – what UGA and Vandy need to do – is go kick Tennessee’s butt. which neither school has done in the last 4 years!!!!

Nance does not have a D-1 arm and Rogers wasn’t even the best receiver in the dome last year at the high school finals. The kid from Gainesville who is starting at slot for Notre Dame was way better. Rogers was shutdown by a sophomore corner from Buford who runs a 4.7 40.

Like I have been saying all along, this guy is made for UT. No character and no class. Read up on what the late John Wooden says of this type of person. Regarding Nash as a QB prospect – the kid is smart, big, has a good good arm – but is considered somewhat of a project.
But here is the deal – he is 18 years old – when he is 20 years old – he may have developed into a QB that will play some games for Tennessee – you just never know!!!!
Plenty of cases where 5 star and 4 star do not pan out – while 2 star continues to mature and gets better!
what was the kid’s name that caught the HOBNAIL BOOT pass from David Greene?? Alebert Hayes (Haynes?). Was he not offered any D1 scholarships and played for Western KY – then transferred to UGA??
Went on and played for Pittsburg Steelers?
Not saying Nash is the next Peyton Manning – but he could develop into a very good QB!

He was like the kid in P.E. class that no one liked but felt bad for. Did that kid get treated sincerely? No, it was all fake. The over/under for this kid cracking the field is 0. Our fans being rude and obnoxious??? Are you kidding me?
In all seriousness a lot of our fan base are simply not good people. I have witnessed several fans urinating off the 600 level seats onto our own fans! I doubt this changes. We simply offer too many majors that do not require a lot of mental activity (but it helps in recruiting!) and thus we have a lot of fans and alumni that do not think before acting. Alcohol simply makes them worse!
Fact is…if Rogers did not want to come to Athens…then who cares? We should not and do not want players that truly do not want to attend our school. If he prefers UT…so what? With that said, if he becomes the next Hershel Walker as a receiver, I take it all back.

DawgFan- we don’t have a monopoly on immorality at football games. I’ve seen the same crap at LSU, USC, Clemson, Tech… a lot of it just depends on who you have the misfortune of sitting next to. My dad went to Tech (I am ashamed to admit that) and I saw the Tech freshmen storm the field and cut off the tail of the Clemson Tiger. Tech students were throwing liquor bottles and frozen fish at the Notre Dame bench. Most of the people who go to those games wish they could have attended the school they are such fans of. Much of the problem comes from the kids who were never held accountable for anything in their lives.

This morning on this site this story was here, and now here it is

headlines flaming. Just because Nance (whom Georgia did NOT want)
says something negative about Georgia, that makes it news ? Sounds
like a lot of sour grapes to me. I’m sure that Rogers and Nance
both will have loads of fun at Tennessee, where just getting to a bowl
game will be a challenge. As for Tennessee fans criticizing us, it’s
just the pot calling the kettle black – I heard the classy booing of
Marlon Brown by Tennessee fans at last year’s game in Neyland….just
because the young man signed elsewhere (without any package deals, I
might add). So they’re ticked off…..so what ?

Da’Rick from a coach’s point of view.
My next door neighbor is a coach who has coached against this young man. He tells me Georgia is much better off without Da’Rick. Some real attitude issues which the Bulldogs do not need. His whole demeanor says he is into himself and not the team.
He also tells me the 2011 recruit Chis Conley has a great attitude and is smart. He feels like we have a tremendous player who will play for the team and not himself.
As for young Nance he is a kid supporting his friend. We should just forget about these statements and look forward to next year. Have any of you ever heard one bad thing about the way our coaches
treat recruits whether they sign with us of not. Things have gotten out of hand with this. We Bulldogs need to take the high road on this one. Wish everyone well and go on.

The said part for the Nancy’s is when this kid gets to practice and realizes that he’s the 4th stringer and can’t complete a pass. His teammattes are going to find out that he was the 2 for 1 deal with Da’Rick and this kid will be transferring after his red shirt year. If you can’t play, you can’t play. It all goes down hill for Nancy boy. What goes around, comes around. If Da’rick does play in the NFL guess who’s going to be coming to him begging for cash.

Nance did not lure the liar to Tennessee. That was a done deal before Nance even comitted. Tennessee would have never even offered Nash unless the liar agreed to also comit. The idea that Nash was offered first and the poor ole liar had a last second change of heart is a load of bull. Tennessee, the Nances and the liar all knew that he was not going to sign with Georgia before Nash commited to Tennessee other wise they would never have offered Nash. Money and being a guttless wonder is what got the liar to Tennessee.
mr Fool nance answer me one question. The liar was probably the most coverded player in Georgia’s recruiting class, what on this earth would make the Georgia coaches do something that would alienate him? What? Sir you are a liar and a blow heart. I do wish your poor son all the best, but the liar! Break a leg kid. No! I really mean “break a leg”.

Doesn’t really matter, I watched Nance play at Darlington and Calhoun. He is no D1 QB. He cannot throw a deep ball accurately. When you have 6 catches and 2 td’s for a total of 220 yards in one game by only one receiver, you sound like a heck of a QB and you can roll up some more stat sheet.

People with a lot of money think they can run their mouth when they please. To me, if you think you deserve to be a D1 QB, and Vandy pulls their scholarship offer, you don’t deserve D1. The day that Nance steps on the field in a UT uniform might be the saddest day in Vol history. He is terrible and couldn’t play D2 IMO. The reason he even respectable stats was because he threw hitch routes to Rogers that he took to the house. So a 3 yard throw turned into 50, 60, and 70 yard TDs.

The real pleasure is going to be watching Coach Dooley having to get rid of Da’Rick for doing something nasty with a coed and watching the Nash Rambler sitting in the stands watching the games, since UT gave out two complete sets of numbered jerseys. That means 200 men are ahead on the depth chart, even the walk-ons. Go Voles!

The only way Nancy is going to get in the news (about football anyway,) is to mouth off about UGA–a school he has had no real dealings with. He sure won’t be getting on the field coverage unless ALL the other QB’s are injured at the same time in a bus wreck or something.
The question that should be getting dealt with is the car Nancy’s daddy bought for Duh’rick. When UGA plays UT it will suck to be you Duh’rick! I know our coaches will tell our secondary that you are not a marked man, however, I would not bet on them feeling that way “unofficially.” Nobody likes a traitor!!!

The wide recievers that we have committed for 2011 may be a little less talented on the field but are far ahead in the character dept. which will win you more tight games. Good luck to Mr Rogers in knoxville I hope he finds happines and playing time also I hope he feels Rambos helmet on every play. As for Nash Nance he is just a no talent qb who is to blind to see that he is just a pawn in this dirty little story and to dumb to keep his mouth shut. The only bad dealings that DaRick Rodgers would have had with UGA coaches is committing to UGA in spring 2009 and being adamant that he was going to UGA and changing his mind on signing day or the day before. If I was UGA coaches I would have giving him hell to. UGA didn’t have time to recruit another WR to replace him on the same talent level. It showed Rodgers lack of integrity and character. And for the biggest idiot in this, Nash Nance, to even question CMR’s integrity, ethics and character more than Lane Kiffin shows how dumb and insignificant he is. Bottom line is that this article isn’t worth much of an effort. Carwell, you must have been pretty hard up to think this was new worthy. If I was a Vols fan… I would keep quite and hope that the UT football program will withstand the decisions made by Mike Hamilton over the last few years. Anyway you look at it… the Kiffin era was a debacle due to him running his mouth and leaving for Hollywood after one season. The Edwards, Jackson, Richardson incident was ugly. DD may end up as a good hire, but he was not at the top of many people’s list at the beginning of the coaching search… especially with his record at LA Tech. Jon Grunden would have turned some heads and contributed to the out of state recruiting push that UT needs on a consistent basis. Only time will tell…
It could be worse… Lane Kiffin and his recruiting hostesses could still be representing your program or you could have hired Booby Petrino. http://theangryt.com/?p=3363

Richt has 90 wins in 9 seasons. Dooley went 17-20. Richt has the drive to be successful, the jury’s still out on Dooley, but many question his drive to win. Just don’t see it personally. I think Da Rick lacked confidence he’d win the job at Georgia, so he went to weak school playing for a coach who went 4-8, yes 4-8, last year, where he’d get plenty of playing time. Without a solid QB, and with total inexperienced O-Line, don’t see him lighting anything up.
But best luck to the kid.

Most of you children on here are simply too young and inexperienced to know that SC’s Heisman ,George Rogers was from the Duluth, Ga area. He was recruited by UGA and SC’s RAY GOFF. He signed with and won the Heisman for SC. We faced him two or three times and I believe UGA won two and they got one. I personally was at the game in 80 or 81 when UGA won. Great game and I was on the 50, lower level near the track, behind the UGA bench.
My point? You win some and you lose some, you guys. Geeeeeeeez. UGA lands it’s share and last year we got Marvelous Marlon Brown and such is life. Brown, is of course from Memphis ……. TN, for you public school kids.
UGA will be fine and besides, who at UT will get the ball to this kid? His QB pal will probably never play a down and that is that. Ratavoius Wooten, Chris Durden and Brown and Charles and the two tight ends Lynn and Wiggins? will be gravy. How about AJ and King and Troupe and one or two others at receiver??

Nance transferred from Darlington for his Sr. year. Calhoun’s previous QB made all-state as a juniour and decided to skip football and concentrate on baseball, believe his last name is Johnson.
Kiffin did not want him but Dooley was willing to take a package deal as Nance did not have his heart in the ‘Dores. Apparently there is a bond between Nance and Rogers.
Richt, apparently, was not willing to make the same deal. Rogers is the real deal, saw him play 5 times, and I can tell the goods. Nance is not near the overall QB that Jaybo Shaw is and he will be a benefit for Georgia Southern.
To me it would have been worth the two scholarship deal to get Rogers. He is better than Marlon Brown but not AJ Green. It would not be the first combo deal ever made at UGA. We got the Luckie trips (well worth all three scholies) in the day.
Got to be able to read a transcript, Jalen Fields could not get in and we could have used that for Nash and then got him back in 1 or 2. Sorry Jalen. Others gave up too, Mettie, etc.

NO STORY.
Why print the story, when you have NOTHING, absolutely NOTHING to report ?
I have been saying this all along, that the recruits on OFFENSE in this State of GEORGIA must be interviewed and find out why they ALL signed with RIVAL SEC schools 2010 ?
We KNOW it is the Offensive Coaching Staff, ALL coaching positions they did NOT play in the arena themselves, a former QB coaching Tight Ends, a great former Running Back coaching wide receivers, and our own former Wide Receiver coaching Running Backs when it was his Dad, not he who was 1 of our own Best Running Backs in the history of UGA Bulldogs’ Football.
In the Coach Richt Era, we have failed to score more than 2 Touchdowns in 38 games, and Lost 27 of those. We threw the football only 2 times to Branden Smith and only 2 times to Marlon Brown, the 2 highest rated football players on our recruiting class last year. We average 21 fumbles per year every year for the last 4 years, # 96 NCAA average ranked for the last 4 years in Penalties, and 14 interceptions per year average every year of the last 4 years, and we signed none of the Offensive Players in this State of Georgia in 2010.
Why is this ?
Again, I ask that each and every single recruit be asked this question. Why did you not choose UGA ? The revealing answers tell the STORY.
This story does NOT.
Try again. Go get the answer.

Let me get this straight. We signed NONE of the Offensive Recruits in this State of Georgia 2010, but according to you, Nash Nance wasn’t any good because he was only offered scholarships by West Virginia, Mississippi State, Vanderbilt, UCF Central Florida Knights, UT-C, Harvard and the Tennessee vols.
Friday June 4, 2010 we got a commitment from Wide Receiver Zach Witchett who was only offered scholarships by West Virginia, Toledo, Minnesota and Maryland.
DISNEYdawgs.com you make EXCUSES that hold no water. This is our latest commitment Zach Witchett. If this is the knock on Nash Nance, then isn’t it germane that if you measure our latest football recruit commitment by YOUR SAME MEASURE, that you have NOTHING TO SAY on the matter ?
You make a comment about our rival, Tennessee vols, but leave yourself open to the same comment being applied to our own most recent football recruit commitment. Don’t you ?
Which is it ? The vols’ recruit is no good because only West Virginia, Mississippi State, Vanderbilt, UCF Central Florida Knights, UT-C, Harvard and the Tennessee vols offered Nash Nance a scholarship or UGA football recruit is no good because only Georgia, West Virginia, Toledo, Minnesota and Maryland offered Zach Witchett a scholarship ?

Man there’s alot of hate on this board. And alot of ignorance. Constantly seeing comparisons of Kiffin to Richt. NEWSFLASH: Kiffin is no longer the coach at UT! As for Dooley and his record, he took LA Tech to their first bowl win since the 70’s, AND he acted as Athletic Director. Dude is smart. As for Nash never seeing the field, I bet he does, but not for the right reasons. He’ll make the travel roster, simply because we need a 3rd QB. With our inexperienced line, I don’t expect our QB’s to last long this year. If he can take a snap and hand off, he’ll play. If anything, we could use a holder on kicks lol. Just chalk all this up as karma. We lost Marlon because they didn’t like Orgeron (trust me, we don’t like him either). You guys lost Rogers because he didn’t like something about your staff. It happens. Just don’t see why you bash his character now, but when he was committed to UGA he was the second coming. BTW, should be a great game between the hedges this year. No predictions, just wanna see a hard fought ball game. Peace ya’ll.

Gator Bob: ALBERT Haynes?? Really? Albert Hayes? You worry about FL and post on their blogs and leave UGA blogs to UGA people. And if you had ever seen Nance play, you would know that the words “Manning” and “Nash” never belong in the same sentence.
BuLLdawg, I think the reason that Nance is getting such a bad rap here is that he actually is no good. Really. He has a wealthy father and that’s about it. Ever seen him actually play? In person? Would you know a good QB if he had a bell around his neck? But I digress. He’s no D-1 QB. Period. I promise. Never would have seen the field at Vandy, either.
But actually, in your deal with the Disney guy, it is you who’s argument holds no water on comparing offers of Nance and Witchett. Nance never got an offer from TN until his dad packaged him with Da who ever.
On the other hand, Witchett had told everyone that would listen since he was 8 that he was going to be a Georgia Bulldog if he ever had the opportunity. It is/was common knowledge that other than the requisite propaganda sent to all recruits to gauge interest, there was no reason to seriously recruit Witchett.
As far as your spill about not getting any offensive players from the state in 2010, I think a little dose of common sense would help whatever it is that ails you. Unless it is someone like Witchett who just bleeds some schools colors and is going there no matter what, MOST recruits go where they feel they will get the most playing time, period. Georgia had them stacked up like cord wood on offense and those people didn’t see much PT (Playing Time)coming there way in the near future. HS all stars aren’t really all that interested in the other PT (Pine Time). And I don’t know, it’s just a guess, but it COULD be the reason Brandon Smith only had two passes last year was because he plays defense. Just sayin. But he did run several reverses. As far as Marlon is concerned, he just wasn’t good enough ye. to beat out the other receivers, plus all the talented TE’s compete for the ball. Plus Joe had a tendency to throw a good many to the wrong team. There’s just so many passes to go around. After the AJ and TK and then the second team get theirs, the TE’s get theirs, and then last year the other team got a lot, there just aren’t that many balls to go around. You say well if he’s not that good we shouldn’t have signed him? Were we fooled as far as his ability? If so, we were fooled in good company with every other major D-1 program who begged him to sign. I will also say that he won’t get much more this year. T King was as highly recruited as AJ and is only a notch below him. Chris Durham will be back this year and he’ll never get ahead of him. So things are crowded at WR in Athens. The TE’s will be even better and there are only so many passes to go around. Ad to that the fact that with the new QB Georgia probably won’t be throwing as many total passes unless this defense falls apart and they are behind all the time.
So, it’s actually your arguments that never hold water. But I do give you credit for trying to employ lots of creative spin on the facts you present. Ever consider looking into a job with the current White House administration?

The Nances are a proud, boastful family. It’s all about look at me! Watch me! Did you hear about Nash? The reason for the bitter feelings toward UGA is simple, they would not offer Nash a scholarship! The Nance family has always, always been HUGE UGA supporters. Mike tried to work out a deal with UGA to get Nash a scholarship. Da’rick was already committed to UGA, so Mike could not use him as leverage to get a deal for Nash. The conversation probably went something like this, “Why would we offer Nash a scholarship when we already have Rogers and Nash would never see the field?” Obviously, Tennessee was more than willing to negotiate. Does anyone really think Nance would have gotten a scholarship to Tennessee without Da’rick’s commitment? I seriously doubt it. It was a stretch to believe that Nash could play quarterback at Vanderbilt. I don’t blame Nash for wanting to go to UT, it just doesn’t smell right. Someone please discuss this with me. GO VOLS!!!

How predictable. Of course Nance is going to point at UGA coaches. He and his dad played Da’Rick, doing what they felt was best for Nash, not Da’Rick. Now they are all personae non gratae in the state of Georgia, so let’s try to blame the UGA coaches.
All this does is fuel the fire for October. UGA will look to run up the score.
In the long run, most likely, Nance will NEVER see the field, and Da’Rick won’t face UGA until 2011 in Knoxville.

I thought you were arguing with the Disney guy about recruiting, etc, I was just pointing out that you have no valid points in most of the rants you post here. It’s just usually a list of facts with very creative spin on them. But in a real debate you’re clueless. That’s all. I didn’t notice the mention of an excuse for the UGA recent SEC record in anything I wrote. Did you? Are you confused? Up too late in your moms basement? The only excuse I would give for a record that is not as good as you would like is that maybe the players we get aren’t as good as the players the other team has. It’s either that or maybe its because at times, the teams UGA play score more points than they do. It could be that. Just sayin.

This Nash kid was a pretty good high school qb, but he didn’t merit a scholly offer from UT or UGA. Vandy was a stretch for him, as I know Vandy recruits/signs better. Everyone knows why UT offered him.
Two things I’m certain of:
1. Considering what’s happened at the qb position at UGA since spring practice ended, I’m relieved that we offered Mason, and an “add on” qb recruit like Nash isn’t sitting there as our 3rd scholly qb.
2. The most attention Nash will ever receive has come through this recruiting process b/c of his star teammate, and of course he can make the papers by mentioning UGA. That’s it. He now has a free education and can one day say he “played” in the SEC. UT will recruit like made to make sure they are never ever down to having to put Nash in the game.

You do not understand how your program is the joke of D-1 football. Everyone from east to west laughs about the Bulldog program, because is the most underachieving program since D-1 began.
1 title in 117 years and all you can talk about is how tough the SEC is. Well sooner or later you have to quit making excuses, and step up. You can only tell your boss the dog ate your keys for so long.
Your program is tanked from the AD down. Your recruiters are not getting it done, and CMR is not even close. You had 10 years to win a title and could not get it done. You get drilled year after year by Florida, but everyone just keeps writing those booster checks and loves CMR.
Well, Meyer, Miles and Saban all love CMR also and would like to extend his contract. UGA is becoming the Vandy of the SEC, so everyone loves an easy win on Saturday in Athens.

I knew then that one day it was going to happen to the dawgs because he disappointed Clemson fans. I didn’t like that I idea in the first place. Mr.Richt should have told AJ Harmon to stay committed to Clemson.
I didn’t like the idea that Mr.Richt gave Christian LeMay a scholarship because now Nick Marshall(qb/sg) mightl sign elsewhere. Marshall would have helped the football and basketball program. I don’t know if anyone else notice this, but it seem like LeMay’s teammates don’t like him. This could be a problem for the dawgs if this is true.

That was within the rules. I DO have a problem with the kid’s implication about UGA coaches and their integrity. If the kid has an issue with how UGA recruited or did not recruit him and believes that UGA violated any NCAA rules then he needs to spell it out and let UGA answer the charges. John, the difference between Marlon Brown and Mr. Rogers is that Brown did not commit to Tn and then de-committ the day before signing day. I have no problem with an 18 year old changing his mind, but to string UGA along for so long and then changing is like jilting them at the alter. A lot of wide receiver recruits chose to go elswhere because they thought they’d be behind Rogers. It is not a coincidence that UGA has already signed 3 highly rated WR this year.

The Nance kid is a prima donna who will NEVER play a down against Georgia, Florida, Bama or any other SEC team. He is also a liar. If the UGA coaches were “less professional,” would they be pulling in the majority of the top recruits in Georgia year-in and year-out along with other top-tier recruits from other states? Sounds like the kid is a baby. Probably takes after his prima donna dad who expected him to be a top QB. It will be a miracle if either of these two kids experience a win over UGA while at UT, and Da’Rick Rogers probably will never score a TD against UGA now that he has pi$$ed off the entire UGA team with the way he backstabbed Mark Richt. If he had wanted to keep his recruiting open, he should have said so and not pledged to UGA just so he could back out at the last second costing UGA a chance to sign some other top player. What goes around comes around…justice will be served one way or the other for these two Benedict Arnold types.

One more thing. Nash Nance is trying to help Derek Dooley recruit Georgia by bad-mouthing the coaching staff. Problem is, UT is so far behind in this State now that their Cadillac coach Kiffin has left that it will take years to rebuild. Richt has stuck a 20-foot fence at the border that is doing wonders keeping UT away from the top players coming out in February. I wish Derek all the best, but he has a tremendous uphill battle ahead of him competing with Meyer, Saban, Richt, Spurrier, Petrino, etc. It is going to be very tough to succeed up there. Da’Rick on the other hand is very smart to keep his mouth shut. He is probably going to receive some blind-side hits when he faces the Dawgs..

But be quiet , cause you gotta deal with the consequences against UGA eventually and noone wants to hear from a second rate QB who needed a push from someone else to get an opportunity.

“Dawg Trainer,”
Enjoy those memories. They will be all you have for some time. UT is going to go down hard in Athens. The coaching staff had a discussion about the Tennessee game during SPRING practice. That should help you understand the degree of focus this staff has to defeat Tennessee (making it seven of the last eleven thank you…with more GA wins to come).

Actually I know both kids well being from Calhoun. The real story is that Da’Rick started having second thoughts after seeing Tennessee beat the living crap out of UGA last year. He took a long look in the mirror and said “why would i go there?”

CalhounInsider:
Yeah, right. I believe that about as much as I believe that Lane Kiffin is a man of his word.
This was all about the Nances, and a no-talent little rich boy who used his talented friend to get a scholarship that he didn’t deserve. Da’Rick got a vehicle for his trouble from “Daddy” Nance, the Vols got a five star WR recruit (one who went AWOL for a few hours during his U.Ga. recruiting trip, FWIW), and now the Nances feel the need to engage in a little negative recruiting to mitigate the angst generated in their former home state by their no-class ego trip.
Why would Da’Rick want to go to Georgia? Well, if he valued education, it might be because Georgia is a better academic school than Tennessee–but that’s not a factor here. Or if he wanted to play for a football team that actually had a snowball’s chance of having a winning season the next few years, that might be another reason. Or maybe he might want to become a star player for his home state team, a team that has actually sent receivers to the NFL in recent memory, instead of being vilified for being a turncoat. But these issues aren’t relevant with Da’Rick.
The car is relevant.
The Nance family connection is relevant.
And if head-to-head wins are really a factor in this kid’s decision-making (which I doubt), then he’ll have his own little “Jabari moment” this fall. And another one in 2011. And so on.
Enjoy Knoxville, gentlemen. Hope that high school connection works out for ya.

Dawg fans, let’s quite wasting time posting about “Duh-reek” & his
little caddy, Nash Rambler. His butt is going to ramble to the bench
and stay there. Maybe his meddling pappy will offer to carpet Neyland
Stadium so he can get a few snaps.
It’s time to get ready for the 2010 season, and we have some scores
to settle – Tennesse being one of them.

“Let me get this straight. We signed NONE of the Offensive Recruits in this State of Georgia 2010, but according to you, Nash Nance wasn’t any good because he was only offered scholarships by West Virginia, Mississippi State, Vanderbilt, UCF Central Florida Knights, UT-C, Harvard and the Tennessee vols.”
What you may not know is most of those were for ACADEMIC reasons not for ATHLETIC skills.

To all you classless Georgia fans, not only are your coaches unprofessional, but Georgia has the worse fans in college football. You will be saying Mike Hunt is sore after this years Tech game.

wow uga pups when Rogers commited to uga most of you were ready to ride his jock strap and go behind the stands with him. Now when he changed his mind which it seems over half the recruits do it one time or another, you dont want anything to do with him and treat him worst than the red headed step son. Jealous much? Rodgers will not be the WR that a lot of people think he will be, but he will be a good one.

The comment should have been “Nance just shut up and hold the clipboard” that is IF he even progresses that far. I actually feel sorry for the kid. He is just a hanger on to a highly recruited WR. If it wasn’t for his ties to Da’rick no one would even care what the poor kid has to say. And tying himself to Da’rick is not so smart in itself. Rogers is poison to everyone around him. A T.O. wanna be…. Sad little boys..

My only concern as a Vol fan is the integrity of these 2 guys. I’m not impressed with HS kids who give their word to colleges (UGa and Vandy) and then go somewhere else on signing day. I’ve seen this happen to folks who have signed with UT and then change their minds at the last minute. I think it’s related 2 issues: lack of integrity and ego (ie.they aren’t getting enough attention from the school they originally sign with and go with a newcomer who is showering them with attention to convince them to renig on their promises). I’d rather Dooley not play these type of games and I wish that one day these 18 year old will learn that their “word” should mean something.

Why would any recruit want to go to UT with a scum bag like Lane Kiffin as coach? Even with CDD, these two will never have an impact especially Nance(y)Pancey; a rich kid who will sell carpet after UT !!!

The statement about UGA football coaches not being professional — with people like Bobo and Richt, I can understand that. Also “incompetent” should be used to descirbe them.

Think back to what any of us thought of our coaches. We all knew more them. Of course we didn’t, but that did’t stop us from thinking it! Either that’s what is going on here or they got a better deal to be pumpkins.

Good for Nance. He used (and paid) Rogers to get his son a major D-1 ride. It’ll be funny in a few years when Rogers, his career and NFL dreams are shot looks to Nance for a kush job or a handout to find that ‘we just don’t have any thing right now Da rick…

UT hasn’t had any trouble beating the Dawgs without these guys. I’ll begin being bothered about these two when they have a hand in beating UGA. Right now the Dawgs need to concentrate on the ones on the field who keep handing them our butts.

Pretty strong comments from a dude riding the coat tails of his friend. The only thing Mr. Nance will ever take from center at UT is the center’s jock to the laundry room. He’ll fit right in at Tennessee though, no talent with a big mouth. Good luck Mr. Nance with your little buddy De’rick. Gotta say though that you’ll have a great place to watch the games…from the sidelines.

Their both smart, lol and if it came down to it, I would of went to Richmond in a heartbeat over Georgia. Georgia’s staff, program, and school is a disgrace to the SEC.Richt’s bitch ass is the only coach known to ever get mad at his own players for celebrating a victory with a Gatorade shower. Pfft! Cool, “No guys we won like wtf? We don’t do that at GA!!!” We can’t make up kids minds for them and control what they do but by god this time some made the right choice.
