Hey, the 2010 high school basketball season is over (click on the brackets below for final results).
What are your thoughts on the 2010 season? Out of the five boys state champions, which team is the state’s best? Is it Milton? Or what about GAC? And which team is No. 1 out of all the girls champions?
Perhaps, most importantly, who is the state’s Mr. and Mrs. Basketball? Is it Wheeler’s Jelan Kendrick, the only Georgia player picked for the Parade All-America game? You may disagree, but I think not. My “lock” was Westlake’s Marcus Thornton, before he missed the state championship game with an ankle sprain from warmups. I like Fayette County’s Adam Smith, and GAC’s Malcolm Brogdon.
What about the No. 1 girl? Pick any of the NBA daughters.
Note: Stick to basketball talk. Personally insulting other commenters will not be tolerated. Thanks. - AJC Sports

Michael Carvel…..what did Norcross ever do to you that you are so predjudiced against them…especially the girls team? The technical on the Redan player was because she used profanity after being called for 3 fouls! One ref warned her and the next time she said it right in the refs face…she deserved a technical! I didn’t see what the Coach did that caused him to have a technical but, once that happened their team unraveled, but the Lady Blue Devils had already taken the lead by then! Come on Carvel, how about soem non-biased reporting and admitting you are WRONG!

BOOTMAN….as a former high school official…you found it reasonable to let a player shout profanity at you 3 times!? Well, weren’t you a Saint of a ref….heaven forbid anyone teach these players about good sportsmanship!

I am SO PROUD of the young ladies and young men of the Columbia High School program. Coach McCrary and Coach Frost are to commended for the consistent care and concern they model for students each and every day in the classroom (Yes Math and Science), on the court and in ways both large and small. Their efforts continue to pay off in the opportunities their kids have access to in college and in life. No one can take this wonderful experience from you. Bask in the glory, remember your dedication and sacrifice to reach your goals to soar like the Eagles you undoubtedly are!

Nice story on GACS absolutely waxing the entire AA
field to win the state title and in the process being
competitive with the other top tier programs.
Lessee now, where is it ??? Gee, I can’t seem to
find it anywhere in the AJC website. Great job guys -
one of the worst years I have ever seen for coverage
of high school sports.
I may have to go to confession for this one, but
Clarence Bore may well have done better than this
guy named for an ice cream stand.

SportsFan31313 – Man….would you please wake up from that dream…….Please allow me to ramble for a moment……..Just because a team happens to be 5A doesn’t mean they should beat a 4A team. Bradwell Institute girls beat SWD please!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The one common opponent this year was Redan we lost by 6 you guy’s lost by 21 enough said. Check the schedules sir, over the years we play tough competition in-state and out of state. That’s why they are ready come play-off time and the result is 3 straight titles. While I can understand you being very satisfied because of a couple winning season’s from your Southeast Georgia high school’s Bradwell Institute and Liberty county boy’s and girls teams. Neither of the team’s boys/girls are a factor in the final analysis in the play-off’s year in and year out be it football, basketball or track for that matter……..maybe baseball or cheerleading. I’ve checked the past champion’s record and don’t believe there’s much of a track record for either of the team’s you follow. You’re judgement and opinion are marginal at best and carry no weight.

@yugolf: STOP WHINING, YOU HATER! Columbia girls and boys deserved the championship sat. night. Great job! Is it so hard to just say congrats!
and sign off?
@Wolverine1: well said EAGLE 2, You said it best..get the facts straight first. You beat us in a scrimmage, so what! wow! you are scaring me! lmao. it means nothing. The few games we lost were to out of state, nationally ranked high schools and it was a learning experience for our team. Losing to MG in a scrimmage once again means nothing!
@ what? I won’t even comment on what you said, I just need it to be documented that you are just ignorant and a dumb a@@

SWD Panther Paw,
The one thing that you do have going for yourself is rambling rhetoric just like you said….. Again you are dismissed……

WESTOVER Albany GA!! Until someone wins four championships in four consecutive years, this conversations is over!! Think about it, in 1990 2 teams from a city with only 4 public high schools played for the state championship. In comparison to the enormous amount of high schools in the Greater Atlanta area. This is a great feat that deserves to be commended.
