2010 Georgia High School Basketball Tournament: You pick the state’s best player and No. 1 teams (UPDATED)
Hey, the 2010 high school basketball season is over (click on the brackets below for final results).
What are your thoughts on the 2010 season? Out of the five boys state champions, which team is the state’s best? Is it Milton? Or what about GAC? And which team is No. 1 out of all the girls champions?
Perhaps, most importantly, who is the state’s Mr. and Mrs. Basketball? Is it Wheeler’s Jelan Kendrick, the only Georgia player picked for the Parade All-America game? You may disagree, but I think not. My “lock” was Westlake’s Marcus Thornton, before he missed the state championship game with an ankle sprain from warmups. I like Fayette County’s Adam Smith, and GAC’s Malcolm Brogdon.
What about the No. 1 girl? Pick any of the NBA daughters.

@ Jacoby Arnold ,My dear child Welcome to the world of Sports. That is the way it is. However you mention so many Dekalb area schools and left out so many others. Don’t like what you are implying. yes you mention wheeler. But let me tell you have it really goes. Northern area Schools and recreation parks (YES I said recreation parks ) Have always recruited heavy in the same districts you talk about. You ever wonder how a all white school just happens to have black kids in the key positions, RB, WR, DB and they are very good. However you cant find more than 20 black kids at the whole school. Let me stop here because this has nothing to do with the blog mention above. Just wanted to let you know they all do it but the Northern area schools has always done and do it well.

@ jroc please give me a break on south Georgia stuff. You guys are getting killed in the state. You guys started nothing. I can go all the wayyyyy back to Decatur High in the early 80’s coach Bob Reinhart back to back champs and so on. We could sit your guy and still win tonight. Columbia is about 10 deep. We have (2) 6″8 players who ride the bench. Please stop… I am happy for Dougherty. But I remember SW Macon being the boss in the south Ga for years.

Its more to the state than just Atl basketball dont end up like the 03 Marrieta Team with Ellis and Ewing they overlooked everybody and remember what happend to them By the way south georgia don’t claim macon even though its a nice city I know you feel everything below Atl is south ga but you sadly mistaken.

I am a Newton Grad and went to the first half of the game last night. I thought Newton would lose but by maybe 12-15 points. I expected the game to be somewhat competitive but jezz. When your 6-6 Sophmore is pulling up from 25 feet and going 5-6 from 3 point land there isn’t much you can do. I have seen all the great teams play in the last 8 or so years(South Gwinnett,Wheeler,Columbia, & Norcross) & nothing looked any more impressive then Milton did in the first half last night. Going into last nights game Newton hadn’t allowed 60 points all year & they almost gave that up in the first half. WESTLAKE IS IN TROUBLE! My Pick Milton 71 Westlake 55
