Can the Mighty Eagles get our respect? Our record in the last 5 seasons 148 wins with only 14 losses and only 6 to in state teams, 5 str8 final 4 appearances and 2 state title working on #3. Columbia is a basketball power house

all this Coulumbia talk about them being the best team in the state of Georgia. Lets not get to carried away, Westlake is #1 in the state and #22 in the nation. Another thing is you said you held Yates to under 100 points but you still lost so there is no arguing that fact. You cant say o yeah we didnt lose that bad you still have a L. Second, when it comes to the most balanced team in Georgia its Westlake we all kno that. People will always hate us but where always there in the finals even when we dont have the best talent. This year though the talent is there no one can stop us. Go lady Lions as well both teams in the Final Four!!!!

Lies4Westlake you won’t even have the oppurtunity to play a team like that. The truth is that the last time you guys played Columbia we beat the !@#$%%^^^%$@ out of you guys. And furthermore we lost to Yates, but we won’t lose to Westlake ever. Need I say more.

I wish the Mays High Raiders well in the game today…I do not know ANYTHING about Bainbridge but I am sure that they have done well this season in order to be here to share this final four spotlight. I wish that ANYONE besides NW Whitfield’s Girls win….I am confident that their run will come to an end soon….Mays’ Girls should have beat them – but we got out coached (again) and will have to look to try and do it again in the years to come.
AJ, Kendall, Eric, and Homer – I hope you all have an excellent game! Ray – control the ball and stop playing street ball and you will be awesome! #30….go strong to the basket and rebound and everyone will know your name in the morning!!!!!
The Spirit of Mays High is undeniable….the fan support is tremendous… and I hope we will them all to victory.

@truth4westlake…yes you guys do have a good team this year. to be honest im picking you guys to win the state in 5A. you ddont have to throw rocks when a fan of another team talks about respect for their team. give credit where its due. as far as the yates game yeah it was an L and we got 4 more of them on the season but name another team in the state that played the out of region comp we played. the record speaks for itself i dont think there is a team in the state that could have handled the comp we had and handled it as well as our guys did. Good luck this weekend. I hope yall come away with the trophy.

Im not hating on Columbia lets get that straight first. I respect your coach and program. I also have yall winning the whole thing. The only thing I have an issue with is someone saying there team cant be beat in the state Georgia by no one. Cause of course i feel the same about Westlake. Our body of work is proving just like yours. We won the 3rd nationally ranked tournament this year with team like Christ which is ranked in the nation and Rice out of New York so we are proving, and weve played a tough schedule as well. Just know that AAA ball isnt quite AAAAA i kno you manage well against those teams youve played in 5AAAAA but in the state tournament 5AAAAA ball is the most competitve hands down. You might as well get your ring sizes now being that S.ATL is out of it. Another thing we defiently didnt get beat by 30 by Columbia lets get that straight. That year you beat us you where more talented ill give you that. But we have the edge this year!!!!!!!

NW Whitfield plays like winners. They played with more aggression than Mays and looked good against Madison County. NW will be hard to beat.

Truth 4 Westlake, I don’t know if your team is the most balanced team.
Miller Grove beat Columbia in a scrimmage yes they will say it was just a SCRIMMAGE, they lost to Milton and Tucker in OT, 4 games out of the state and are extremely hot right now.
They don’t talk too much on these blogs; however they are the best team defensively that I have seen this year.
They beat your team last year at Georgia State; however you will say that team is totally different from this year’s team.
WE WILL NEVER KNOW WHICH TEAM is the Best until GHSA adds another week to the tournament and let classifications battle it out at Georgia Tech to see who really is the best team in the state. Which ever state Champion has the best record gets a bye and then seed the teams from the final records.

Truth4Westlake I disagree with you. I was just joking about the 30 point margin, but keep it real. I wish you guys the best of luck also this weekend. Classifications go by school populations not talent. AAA South Atlanta with Derrick Favors would have beat any team in the state last year. The extra two letters have nothing to do with it. And BUZZ you are a hater. You must have went to Tucker, Lakeside, Mcnair, or Towers because you really hate those Eagles. And as far as the thug and english comment, I made a 1070 on the SAT and a 26 on the ACT, but you right I might be a thug because like the team I support, we will whoop that ___.

@SwatGuy…the Rec Team from Ben Hill looked better than Madison Co. did last week….I hope that it was just an off night for them because I was in disbelief of the mismatch with them and NWW
@Dan…of course it hurts – to have that much talent and to be sitting at home – the truth hurts and the truth is what it is – we’re in the stands and you’re still playing…but a good natured rivalry should be fun for all I say!

I have great respect for Milton High School, they where at one time ranked #10 in the nation so i know they are a formidable opponent. Miller Grove has a great team as well very tall and athletic I saw you guys play after us after we beat Centennial. Of course the classification depends on the population of your school you have no control over that. Im just putting it out there that teams like Meadowcreek, Centennial, McEachern, Norcross, Groves, all would be formidable opponents in AAAA, AAA, and would give GAC at least some competition in AA. 5AAAAA ball is a beast through and through and you cant waltz through the tournament no matter how good you are. Thats a thought an overall state champion where all the state champions battle it out would be great!!!!! Lets just go ahead and get the Columbia vs Westlake game in the works now for next Saturday!!!!!! Will even come to your place!!!

Mays Raider For Life—It is fun but your comment (Anybody but NW) sort of sounded like you have something against NW Whitfield. We were the best team this year. I sat next to a Mays parent (girls parent) at the Quarter finals when your boys played at West Georgia. One of the nicest people I have met. She knew your team lost to the best team. Also seems to be a lot of your fans not to thrilled with your girls coach. Anyway, best of luck to your boys tonight. You will see that NW will be the best after we win the championship this year. Its been a long time coming. Congratulations on a good season for your girls even though they didn’t make it all the way…

Now I have rooting interest in the 3A girls LGvs columbia game because my wife is the Head Coach of LG. It has been fun run and should be a good game LG plays 5 freshman significant minutes. And is only graduating 1 senoir. So I must say I have seen Columbia on tape and they are big and the LG Columbia game should be a fun one. But what i am writing for is to make a bet with CATO I will bet you the Kendrick girls beat the carver atl girls by at least 30.

@Dan…thank you for the nice things you have said about MHS…we are really a group of great and passionate people…my statement (Anyone but NWW) is all about the rivalry…just like me being a Falcons fan and wanting ANYONE but the Saints to win the SuperBowl…it is just who I am!
Please don’t be offened by not being able to change my mind on you being the better team – I with all of my heart – know and will go to my grave believing that we had the most talent….we did’nt have the best coach on the side and she played the game the way it worked best for NWW…not for the athletes that she had on the court. You saw the frustration in Kendra Long’s face when the coach told her not to drive to the basket – which was dumb – why would you allow two girls over 6 feet tall time to set their defense – a good coach would not have – she would have run their tails up and down the court until they couldn’t run anymore. NWW has a hell of a point guard in number 23….she is awesome and I hope that she does well in her next venture with basketball. 43 also makes a BIG defensive difference when she steps on the court – I like her a lot!
But at the end of the day – I am SUPPOSED to be mad at the fact that the colors of Columbia Blue and Gold are not gracing the court to represent the boys and the GIRLS…

@truth4westlake it wasnt 30 but it was darn close….more like about 24…lol…but thats neither here no there. that was two years ago it doesnt matter now. but that would be a great game and I would love to see it played but we already know that game next week would not be able to happen. and yeah comp from AAA to AAAA to AAAAA is not much of a difference. we have played teams from all classifications and there are good teams in all classifications. to be honest most of the better teams in the nation would be considered single A or class B schools. all of those A’s only stand for how many kids are in the school. it has nothing to do with who has the best 15 basketball players.
@BUZZ you my friend are a trip…come spend some time with our college bound thugs and i think you would have a different opinion of them since they are constantly commended on their behavior.
@quietly taking care of business yes millergrove did win a scrimmage against us but what does that count for. not to throw out any excuses are scrimmages used to find out what you have on your team and tweak certain kinks out or are they used to try to defeat who you are playing at all costs. different people have different outlooks. btw you all lost to tucker we beat them by 30 would have been by 50 but we took the starters out in the third. so in the big scheme of things none of that matters. you all are about to play for the state championship and I have you all picked to repeat. CONGRATS and good luck.

dotpeach, please! ha-ha. You obviously have only heard of Redan the last couple of weeks because Norcross has only been good that long. Norcross has to hope to get by Westlake to even think about Redan. Redan WILL slaughter Milton by 20 then win state again. no one in the country can stop 4′11″ Alisha Andrews, she is one of the best point guards in the country and this will be her 3rd final four appearance.

To all the Columbia fans: I’ve seen ya’ll play twice & u definitely have more talent than my Westover Pats, and any team in AAA, maybe in all classes, but you guys seem slightly overconfident. Just chill out & talk trash after Saturday nite. Use the blog to analyze and break down these upcoming games, not childish name-calling, etc.
I really didnt think Westover would defeat S. Atl b/c of their superior size, but their guard play was horrible. And Columbia definitely has excellent guard play along with size. But I’ve watched Westover basketball for the last 25 years, and I saw more heart from those guys Sat nite against S Atl than I’ve ever seen definitely from a Dallas Smith coached team. So beware of the Patriots this Friday and remember those guys are playing for alot of tradition & pride down here in Albany.
