The Atlanta Tipoff Club has released its finalists for 2010 Naismith Girls and Boy’s High School Basketball Players of the Year.
There are no Georgia players on the list.
The final six boys are Harrison Barnes of Ames, Iowa, Tobias Harris of Glen Head, N.Y., Kyrie Irving of West Orange, N.J., Brandon Knight of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., Jared Sullinger of Columbus, Ohio, and Deshaun Thomas of Ft. Wayne, Ind.
The list of girls has been narrowed down to five: Kaniesha Dawson-Horn of Birmingham, Ala., Chelsea Gray of Manteca, Calif., Bria Hartley of North Babylon, N.Y., Chiney Ogwumike of Cypress, Texas, and Odyssey Sims of Irving, Texas.
Are there any Georgia boys or girls that should’ve made the list? If so, please state your case below. Past Georgia boys winners are Derrick Favors (2009), Louis Williams (2005), and Dwight Howard (2004), among others. On the girls side, Maya Moore won in both 2007-2006, among others.

So how come I can’t find ANYTHING in the AJC about what is currently going on in high school basketball other than the slam dunk stuff and the Naismith candidates??
Where's the coverage

State tournament starts on Friday yet I cannot find the region winners on AJC. Blame it on costs or whatever you want but the coverage needs to be improved for basketball.

So when will the ajc post playoff dates and time, the day of? It is so pathetic when I open the sports page in the ajc and they have the super 11 for next football season and not one word of bb playoffs. The ajc is clueless, we should boycott and start our own hsbb paper.

Why is Marcus Thornton not on the list. 5A player of the year. 3.8 GPA in the Math and Science Program. The #1 player on the #1 team. what else does he need to do. Work the front door of the game!

I agree with you Blue. High School scores from across the stae should have been posted. Next time go to GHSA.net for your scores on all regions. Enough on the high school slam dunk contest.

I visit Charlotte often and the observer always has coverage of high school sports in the paper. During play off time stories are on the front page of the sports section. Reading the AJC for high school sports coverage you would get the impress that there are no high school sports in the Atlanta area. Why would I purchase this paper?
