McEachern High School has set up a fund for anyone who wants to contribute toward the funeral arrangements of football star Rajaan Bennett, who died on Thursday.

“We’re trying to help the family with funeral costs, clean up of the house, and numerous other expenses they have,” McEachern football coach Kyle Hockman told the AJC on Thursday.

“More than anything, we’re trying to help the family in this time of uncertainty. (Rajaan’s family) didn’t have a lot of possessions, and I know they could use some financial assistance with the funeral — you know, to do something nice to celebrate his life.”

“We’ve had some people within the McEachern community to step up and offer (financial) help. But we also wanted to provide information to others that may want to help, too.”

To donate, Hockman said send checks made out to the McEachern Endowment Fund with “Rajaan Bennett Memorial” written in the bottom left corner. McEachern High School’s address is 2400 New Macland Road, Powder Springs, GA 30127. For more information, please call 770-222-3710.

May God be with this family…..that is just so tragic and uncalled for. God has his angel back. Although I don’t know Rajaan, he seemed to be destined for stardom!!

I’m a Vandy fan from Clarksville, TN. My prayers are lifted for this family. He was so much more than a football player. His mother, late father and family are to be commended in raising such a fine young man.

God, wrap your loving arms of comfort and healing around the family and community. Sad. Rest in Peace young man.

My sincere thoughts and prayers are extended to the Bennett family and the spirit of Rajaan. My daughter is a cheerleader at McEachern so I relished in the accomplishments of Rajaan as a football player and followed his accomplishments throughout the last year or so. This is tragic and I can not begin to imagine the pain and agony the family must be feeling. May God be with you.

What a terrible tragedy! It makes me ill when I think about the potential Rajaan had and how he would have continued to make this world a better place to live in should he have grown into the promising young adult he was destined to be.

Rajaan, I didn’t know you personally, but I can feel your spirit as I read about your life, your family and your intense love for both! Your brother will never forget the times you gave up lunchtime with the “guys” to spend it with him. What a gift you’ve given him! Hopefully there are others out there who after reading about your relationship with your brother will take a lesson from your life: Don’t wait to be that “special person” to someone who needs you. Do it NOW! Life can be cut short in the blink of an eye and you don’t want it to be too late!

My prayers go out to his family, friends, teachers, coaches and teammates (both past, present and future) who were fortunate enough to have had Rajaan in their lives for the short time he graced this planet with his presence. God Bless…

I did not know this young man, but from reading the comments it seems that he had such promising future ahead of him, it’s very sad. Also i’m a Business Owner here in the metro atlanta area (Janitorial Services) and would like to offer this service to the family at no charge whatever the needs are.

Prayer: Lord the death of Rajaan” has hit everyone hard. The relationship with friends and family and those that knew him best was built slowly, over years and experiences. A friendship of this depth is beyond value, Hopefully Rajaan’s death has made us aware of our own mortality and has challenged our faith. Please keep the faith and the faith of all who cared for Rajaan strong. Let us always be a source of support and comfort to one another……Amen

Young Man(Rajaan), When you here the lions roar, know that it was Gladiators like you, like guys I played ball with, and you played with, and Gladiators before us that put fear in them.
