High school baseball season and the warmer days of spring

BaseballHigh school baseball is just around the corner.  With these cold and icy conditions, who is not looking forward to sitting in the baseball stands in the glorious spring weather?

One of the state’s best to watch this year is Central Gwinnett’s Philip Bates.

He is a four-year member of the varsity, playing infield and pitcher. As a sophomore, Bates turned heads with a .366 batting average. Last year, he was one of the state’s top hitters, pushing his average up to .478, good enough to earn All-County honors by the Gwinnett Dougout Club. Bates will play in college at Reinhardt.

Who do you think will be some of the top baseball players in the metro and state for 2010? Please post below.

okay you guys. i must admit i didnt start varsity for dunwoody! i had to come to rockdale because i wasnt playing enough over there. i wish you guys would give me a chance to prove i can play infield and not outfield. i was about to get cut coach arrington said but he kept me bc i already got a letter from him. so im confessing now that all the stuff yall said about me is true.

evan giest is by far the best pitcher in region 6

I think that the first two teams will be in that order than it will go chamblee then tucker.
Marist like said earlier is always stacked with talent.
Lakeside will have a real close season and will be a game behind marist but will still go far in the playoffs with threat, midour, means, earnest, and wofford all did well last year
Chamblee still has good ptching with lowe and bj robinson will lead this team
Tucker has Seniors bowers and hooker coming back along with mcall and roberts to lead the pitching staff.

Lakeside
Marist
Tucker
Chamblee

Lakeside- has a solid team this year. they are the talk of the region. the big threats for the vikings are threatt, middour, stathakis, means, smith, wofford, earnest
Marist-always a huge threat. but will fall short to lakeside this year. will make it far in the playoffs
tucker- watch for eric bower to perform well
chamblee-bj robinsoan

So Dunwoody…..i have a question? So since u didnt get admitted to albany state… All that crap that u be wearin from albany state must be ur brothers then right?? So ur wearing hammy downs from ur brother?? So i read that u have to leave practice early cause u dont have headlights to see?? How does it feel to be the only senior in the world that has a curfew time at 7 p.m? U must not be really good after all if coach lets u actually leave practice. He should of cut u to find another pitch counter like this sigwald dude.

OLA HIGH SCHOOL in McDonough Henry County has the team to beat in Region 4 4A. 3-1 now only losing to NorthGate 7-4. Walked to many batters. 2 games won on run rule (Seqouia Gwinnette and Spalding County). Beat North Gwinnettes power hands down. Speed in the out field NEAL GANDEE and on bases, C J McDOWELL, KYLE BEACH. Good base and double base hitters. Gandee finished last year as sophmore playing JV and Varsity with a batting av of over .500. On base perc. even higher. This team plays the game smart and brings back the fun of the game.

He, there’s this cat at Millergrove High in Lithonia Oscar Britton. He is going to sneak in the ranks. He is fast, fast and fast. Runs the bases like a pro. He is about 6′2 plays center. I wouldn’t snooze on him. with some training he will easily run the county or state in stolen bases.

OLA H.S McDonough 5-1 now
Took out Union Grove with alot to spare. It seemed as though OLA was just as relaxed and confident with the game as the first ones. Unbelievable talent with young men playing the game as a perfected machine. The Jr’s on this team really shine and have a very good chance at the college level. A selected few Sr’s will move on to the next level. Ola predicted to be one of the top prospects for players. They are being noticed.

WATCH OUT FOR Desmond Stegall, Junior at Mays High School. OF/P. Definite prospect out of the L.E.A.D program with former chicago cub- C.J. Stewart.
Stegall can take Mays to the playoffs.

Only needs a team around him..

Leoplod dixon sucks. 1st- look who yall play. If my team played cross keys and teams that are garbage then everyone on my team would be hitting homeruns. 2nd- yall count a single as a homerun. yall pat your stats so bad. Im sorry but there are way better players out there in Ga, which areon good team and they dont pat the stats

Dwight Smith Jr. McIntosh is the best I have seen across the state thus far. His ethics, attitude and love for the game makes him special. I don’t think he’ll see NCAA he is that prepared.

Lassiter middle-infielder Nelson Ward has to be mentioned in this group. A true gamer, he is headed to Georgia. A sleeper among this year’s pitching class is Bret Marks of Blessed Trinity. He was 9-1 as a junior and already has 4 wins this year. He is 87-90 with hard sink and the best command (32
Strikeouts and 2 walks in 24 innings), I have seen in a prep pitcher in a while. He is committed to Mississippi State.
