Believe me! Northside will not lose a step! We have a a great staff an plenty of returning players for the next few years. i believe the next coach will be our Defensive Coordinator Kevin Kinsler, who ’s a northside graduate and been on staff for 20 years and he is a offensive and defensive guru!

Thanks Coach Nix for all the years of football fun and memories. You are the man, both in football and in life. Best wishes in retirement, you have earned it. Coach Nix leaves Northside in excellent shape after building an outstanding program and winning tradition. Next year’s team returns most of the players and Kinsler along with the other coaches will keep on keeping on!

So long Coach Nix, we love you and we will miss you.

I know 1 thing. It’s going to be tough to follow in the steps of a legend. (See Mike O’Brien, Richard Findley, Charles Greene, etc)

SouthGARules: yes Northside will not be hurt in anyway w/ Veterans opening up. and Kevin Kinsler will not have a tough time filling in because he’s a players coach just like Nix was! he knows the program and also what it takes to build a winner. oh to make things worse, the reason i believe Coach kinsler put together a great defensive unit at northside all these years is because he knows how to run a offense very well to, he played Quarterback at northside back in 1978, i played on his defense from 95-98 and even while playing on offense he knew what we would do even before we would come out of the huddle in practice during camps. so he and the rest of the coaching staff will make northside an even bigger force to reckon with.

Congrats to Coach Nix on his retirement….Gonna miss the old man throwing his hands up when questioning officials calls and the long winded speeches though……Not only one the very best in Georgia ,the country as well…..Agree with NSWR Eagle 98……The program won’t miss a step , matter of fact I think the program will really take off now with Kinsler and staff at the helm….Nix was a great coach but without Kinsler’s defenses over the last twelve the who Knows?……..My only concern now the is that the Veterans A.D or BCBOE may hire some of Northside’s assistants.

SOUTH GA RULES: I was also at the Collins Hill vs Chattahoochee game last year, and I remember your post about the QB at Hooch.. Timmy Byerly. You were dead on. i heard the kid was recently timed at 4.52, and at 6′ 1″, 207 lbs, he has benched as much as 315 lbs…Dropping to AAAA this year, with a ton of seniors, they could be the team to watch – and you saw it a year ago! Good eye.

I think that Northside will be ok without Coach Nix, his coaching staff have been with him a long time now and have played their own parts in the success of Northside Eagles, I just hope that Kevin Kinsler gets the head coach job, he deserves it. Happy retirement to coach Nix, and go Northside.
