Northside of Warner Robins has climbed 19 spots to No. 4 nationally in the RivalsHigh 100 rankings.
Northside is coming off a 29-24 victory over Newnan, the last of the unbeaten teams in Georgia’s Class AAAAA to fall. Northside will be playing in its fifth state final this decade on Saturday against Camden County, which is ranked No. 25 by RivalsHigh.
Northside apparently has no shot at a national title because No. 2 Don Bosco Prep of New Jersey has finished its season at 12-0.
Here’s a look at Georgia teams in the national rankings:

Outside Observer: I am a little lost. I do not believe that Camden County has an unfair advantage. That sounds like chatter coming fro excuse makers. Look, Camden County loaded on a bus and traveled what 5 or 6 hours and violated North Gwinnett HS. I am totally lost on the advantage that Camden County has.
Camden County was the only Region Champion that was forced by the GHSA to play the same 2nd Round region opponent, the second place team from Region 1-AAAAA, a region called the best high school football region in America by the USAToday. I am a little lost about Camden County’s competitive advantage.
The Wildcats play in a region with numerous AAA sized schools which means Camden County is subjected to playing inferior competition all season. That would usually hurt a team. Nonetheless, Camden County continues to win and produce teams that have stellar play in the postseason. Where is the competitive advantage? Let’s say we are saying that Camden plays a cupcake region schedule, which they do and which they have no control over. Usually teams that play cupcake schedules, i.e. Hawaii, Bosie State, TCU, etc. do not compete well on the biggest stages. Camden not only competes, they win as much as any team in the state.
Camden has no competitive advantage except they are better than practically ever team and program they face. We fans from Northside hope that the Wildcats face just a little better than their equal on Saturday night. Outside Observer, I do not buy the talk about Camden County. The Wildcats are clearly one of Georgia’s best. They prove it annually.

I too am a vet, was unlucky enough to have to have do Iran both times, but I have to disagree, right or should I say the opportunity for anyone to express his or her thoughts freely (no matter how idiotic, uninformed or childish those thoughts may be) without fear of repercussions is exactly why myself and most others did it, do it and will continue to do it!! otherwise why bother even with hazard pay you’re not going to be able to live out your life in comfort!!

Downtown Warner Robins :
Its a little circle, just off of where Davis crosses Watson. In reality it has no downtown as with a courthouse and conferderate statue. The “field” (Robins Air Force Base) was its beginnings, it is just sprall. One main drag. Lots of population. Likes to play football.

If you are commenting about the exchange between Common Sense and myself, I don’t what it is you disagree about. I am commenting about Prep Football. Nothing else. It was common sense who brought up Iraq and for what reasons, I have absolutely no idea. This is a blog for High School Football. Anything else beside that topic will be inappropriate. Please read my comment in response to Common Sense if that is what you are referring to.

As for the name “Northside High School”, how generic can this name be? Also, how many more “Northside High Schools” will show up in the future? In the Macon-Warner Robins area where we have Northside, Central, Westside, Southwest, etc, I ask the question, why not re-name the schools after someone from the area who brought fame and recognition to this wonderful, historic part of the great state of Georgia? A few ideas: Otis Redding High School, Duane Allman High School, James Brooks High School, Berry Oakley High School, Phil Walden High School. Too many to mention. Also, what was wrong with Willingham, Mark Smith and Sidney Lanier? How about Billy Henderson High School? So many icons from the area that I am befuddled by the reluctance of the 2 school boards not to re-name some of these legendary schools.

Sanity Rules, I hate it, but I did miss the game. I have had 2 family tragedys since Thanksgiving and just could not get away. I remain proud of what this 2009 Cougar team accomplished. Also believe there are even better things to come from Newnan in the near future. The program has all the components necessary for success: 1-Great community support. 2-Great coaching staff. 3- Great feeder programs. It took the Grangers 4 trips to the semi’s in the 1980’s before we FINALLY won the big one in 1991. Appreciate the kudos to LaGrange, but the Granger coaching staff has lots of work to do if they are going to catch up with some of the more hungry coaching staffs around the state like Newnan. Unfortunately, I believe the Granger coaching staff has let the players down for the past several years. They are simply getting outworked. Time for a “change in LaGrange”. Good luck and best wishes for the Newnan Cougars.

“Northside” is a great name, not generic at all. When someone says Northside, everyone knows who we are and where we are so you can forget the WR crap. More original than be named after a city or county like 99 percent of the schools in Ga. However, I would’t mind “Conrad Nix High School” or “Kick A** High School”.

Anyone that doesn’t believe that Camden has an Unfair Advantage is welcome to their opinion but the facts don’t lie, one school in a county of over 50,000 population and an automatic #1 seed in the playoffs. The truth hurts. Can anyone name another 5A school with these advantages?

To: NHS,Not Camden-Saint Marys, Kingsland, Woodbine, ETC. I believe you get my point. Conrad Nix High School is a great idea. Along with some of the others I threw out there. At the present there is only Northside-WR and Northside-Col. But there will be more “Northsides”. Trust me, I am a doctor. NOT REALLY. But, seriously why not re-name the school in honor of someone like Conrad Nix? Not now. Not while Coach Nix is still the head coach. Just so many great iconic persons from the area. Seems like a shame not to honor some of them in lieu of names like Northside, Southwest, Central, etc.

Northside started out as Northside 45 years ago so it would be hard for a name change. The Macon schools changed their names during desegragation and they lost their idenity and spirit for years. My guess is we will always be Northside. We just have to get that Columbus school to change their name to North Columbus High.

Camden is skipping the Corky Kell classic because the Metro Atlanta teams don’t want to play them. (weak region , right ?)
No metro Atlanta teams feel they should have to play Camden in a play off game because Camden is over rated,( weak region , right?)
Camden is playing for the state championship because they have won their playoff games. If my memory serves me correctly each opponent has referred to that game as the actual AAAAA Final. NSWR beat Newnan and moved about twenty-five spots nationally. Camden defeated an excellent Colquitt team and moved three.
The greatest enemy of excellence is mediocrity.

I have seen Camden supporters prediciting their team will win by anywhere from 10-25 points. I hope that type of over-confidence surrounds the team as well.
On a neutral field, no team will beat Northside by that margin. The game is a toss-up as far as I am concerned, but I feel very confident that my Eagles will find a way to win, even if only by one point. Go Blue!

Lets try this for an equation:
Camden County has beaten at least one team out of every region in the post season playoffs or regular season in class AAAAA this decade. + Camden County have beaten Northside Warner Robins every time they have met in Class AAAAA. + Camden County has already won two State Titles this decade. = another Class AAAAA State Title this year going to South Georgia.

SportsFan31313: I honestly believe that if you had a one on one with Jeff Herron, Camden County’s head coach, he would confirm to you that Northside was the best team, “by far,” that the Wildcats faced last season. He has said it repeatedly throughout this season.
Yes, your statement is accurate that Northside has NEVER beaten Camden County as a AAAAA school. Camden County is 1-0 against Northside as a AAAAA school. Northside has played Camden County in the largest classification only 3 times. Northside is 2-1 against Camden County. I will add one more little piece of reality. Camden County has NEVER beaten Northside outside of Kingsland, GA. NEVER!
Our tradition is too deep for you to travel down this road. Unless your name is Warner Robins or Valdosta, Northside generally beats you more than you beat Northside. The truth of the matter is the schools have only faced one another 3 times. The series chatter is useless. This it eh first meeting between Northside and Camden County in the Georgia Dome. It will be fun!
It’s great to be a Northside Eagle!

Northside is 4-1 playing in the Georgia Dome in the playoffs. The Big Blue have won 4 straight trips in the Georgia Dome. In our only loss, we led Lowndes County by 3 touchdowns before falling short against the Vikings in 1999. Northside has won 80% of our games in the Georgia Dome. Our Eagles have beaten AAAAA opponents like Collins Hill and pulled victory from the jaws of defeat while trailing Tucker 28-3 at halftime to come back and win. The Dome is McConnell-Talbert North!
Ironically, Camden County only has a 2-3 playoff record while playing in the Georgia Dome. The Wildcats have NEVER beaten a program from South of the Gnat Line while playing in the Georgia Dome. NEVER! The Wildcats were even VIOLATED by Lowndes County 30-0 in 2004. Camden County has only beaten Newnan in the playoffs while playing in the Georgia Dome.
FYI: Northside is not Newnan. I promise. Shall we post pictures of the Ogletree boys crying on the field. Eagles do not cry. Eagles make others cry.

Greetings EagleNationRising,
Isn’t that’s what a Coach is suppose to say?
He (Coach Jeff Herron) is being cordial, polite, humble, and is paying homage to Coach Congrad Nix, and his Northside Warner Robins Eagles Football Team. With respect to Northside Warner Robins winning tradition, and boy do they have one. (Who dares to argue that point? Not me. I have seen these Northside Eagles beat down my Bradwell Institute Tigers back in the day in Class AAAA) However; it means absolutely “NOTHING” to todays Camden County in Class AAAAA.
This will be one of the best State Championship games in a long time. Everyone had better buckle up and hold on tight as this will be a true battle where the winner (
Camden County
)LOL.. Will become the undisputed State Champions.
Oh Reeze,

SportsFan: In other words, you are going to pass on addressing Camden County’s 2-3 playoff record in the Georgia Dome. You are going to pass on discussing the FACT that Camden County has only beaten Newnan High School in the Georgia Dome.
If I were you, I would pass on entering that discussion too.
Northside is 4-1 at McConnell-Talbert North, my friend. Our Eagles have won four straight games at McConnell-Talbert North. Oru Eagles have NEVER step foot in our great state’s capital city and been violated 30-0 as a certain team from Kingsland has.
Camden County is WINLESS against teams from South of the Gnat Line at the Georgia Dome. I attempted to present logical conversation to you when you were chiming about Lowndes County breaking their road losing streak. These are trends that you must follow with any program.
Northside has a trend of winning at the Georgia Dome. Camden County has a trend of losing unless they are playing the Newnan Cougars. What don’t you understand SportsFan. It is girls’ basketball season at Newnan. You are obviously a person who believes that status quo is going to be broken every time Northside plays.
We are the status quo!

REEZE, Very proud of what 2009 Northside has accomplished. I have a question for not only REEZE but for all Northside Fans, but first a statement. For the past 25 years or more I have seen teams rise and fall. They have a 5-10 year run with the same staff, then mediocrity sets in. Those of you who have followed GHS football for a number of years will know exactly some of those programs I am referring to. It seems to me that some of the more established coaching staffs who have multiple championships under their belts are being outworked by younger coaches who are hungry for success. Coach CONRAD NIX seems to be the exception. He and his staff just seem to get better each year, whether it is in AAAA or AAAAA. 2009 may be his best coaching job ever. QUESTION: What is it that separates Coach Nix from the status Quo? NORTHSIDE FANS, you are very fortunate to have a leader of his quality.
