Biggest surprises, Northside and Camden playing for the championship. Both had slow/shaky starts.
Biggest disappointments, Warner Robins and Lowndes, neither played up to their pre-season hype and potential.
Most inspirational story had to be the Greenville coach. Also, Shaquille O’neil now playing running back for Northside with two broken fingers and a hand cast.
Players that we will miss the most, its Brison William, Greg Clark, and Devon Pike for Northside fans
Who will rule in 2010, Northside in 4A and Camden in 5A, and of course Buford in 2A, and the beat goes on and on.

Okay, my one post for the week…
I have no dog in any of the 5 fights this week, but I’ll be watching them all. Here are my predictions:
AAAAA: Camden gives Northside fans something to bitch about all winter. Camden 24-17.
AAAA: Clarke Central finishes its 2009 run in grand style and wins one for Billy Henderson. The Glads are back. AAAA beware. Gladiators rock the Creek 30-14.
AAA: After a lifetime of being just close enough to taste it, Gainesville FINALLY gets a plateful and brings the big tamale home to City Park. In another nail-biter, Red Elephants 28-24 over Peach County.
AA: Buford gets to make room for yet another state title trophy, but not in as dominating a fashion as in years past. Wolves bring it home, edge Calhoun 28-21.
A: Who to pick?? Coin toss. Wilcox has made deep playoff runs before, but Savannah Christian ousted Lincoln County in Lincolnton, something that very few have ever done, stopping Larry Campbell’s crew on downs inside the five. Sounds good to me. Savannah Christian makes another defensive stand late and takes the big trophy home to Chatham County. Call it 17-14.
Anyone?

I thought that the Mason-Dixon line was here in Virginia not just south of Atlanta. As a casual observer it is extremely evident to me that almost every Georgia news agency reports how great all the previous top 10 ranked football teams in Georgia (AAAAA) are without giving Camden County much press other than listing their next victim. If the Wildcats down media precious Northside WR this weekend then all of Georgia can make excuses for their AAAAA teams and list why Camden County has an unfair advantage. They will have only beaten the #2, #3 and #6 teams in Ga top ten. Can anyone else say that? Too bad they have such a weak conference and still whoop up on the “Best” the state of Georgia has to offer. Can you say “BACK 2 BACK” State Championships?? Good Luck Wildcats!! Be sure to buy all of Georgia some cheese to go with “whine”.

Thank you Michael, SportsFan31313 and all the posters who sent me their prayers and goodwill. This weekend is a very special time of the year for all of us and for a lot of young men who will be trying their best to win a title. But when you go through what I went through last week you realize the really most important things in life – God, family, and friends. Thanks again to all of you.
If any of the posters on this and other blogs have an opportunity to contact any of the players for your teams this week, tell them how proud you are of them. And tell them thanks for all their hard work and commitment. And tell them what they mean to you.
I wish I could join all of you at the lobby bar in the Omni for a get aquainted drink or soda, and walk over to da dome with you. There will be some unforgetfull games in all classifications. Naturally I’m partial to AAAAA, but hope to watch all the games on TV.

Savannah Christian versus Wilcox County. For all of my teasing of Todd Holcomb, Chip Saye, and Co. over at the GHSF Daily, one of the best discussions which deserves signficant attention from the GHSA and high school administrators is how the GHSA counts each student at a Georgia private institution. Rather real or not. Many smaller public schools believe that they are now at a disadvantage. I do not have a strong opinion because private schools do not dominate high school sports or even GHSA activities like One Act, Forensics, etc. with larger high schools. Georgia is a public school state. I expect that to change over the coming years as the state grows and becomes more sophisticated. I am a public school kid all the way. Even I am thinking private schools for my loved ones now. Crazy. I am going for the public school for no other reason than Wilcox County is a public school.
A State Champions: Wilcox County
Buford versus Calhoun. The powerhouse versus a school that believes they can literally win anything. The Wolves are an establishment. I almost always ride with the establishment. However, the State Championships are always good for at least one upset. Although, it is hard to articulate Calhoun being an underdog against anyone. I am going to ride with the immensely talented kids from Gordon County.
AA State Champions: Calhoun
Peach County versus Gainesville. WOW! You talking about a matchup with plenty of firepower and players. If you think for a second that this game will not live up to the billing, think again. AAA football really has some strong and talented programs. These are two of the best in Georgia. I am a self admitted “homer.” Therefore, I am going to pick the almost hometown team from Fort Valley.
AAA State Champions: Peach County
Clarke Central versus Sandy Creek. Is it not really, really nice to see the boys from Athens rolling again. There are literally some high school and college aged kids from Georgia who have no idea about the days when Clarke Central was one of the most feared programs in Georgia. I would love to see Clarke Central bring the title back to Athens. However, I am going to surprise even Todd Holcomb. I am going to ride with Sandy Creek. My reasoning is simple. Sandy Creek has players. Sandy Creek has proven that they are one metro Atlanta program that can beat one of the best small town programs after they torched Griffin last Friday night. Finally, those guys at Sandy Creek obviously have very high character. I remember watching Calvin Johnson. I have NEVER seen a guy that is so good who exhibited such a high level of character. He is a Sandy Creek guy. Sandy Creek won a toss and turned themselves into the GHSA. That says something. It is not like me to pick any metro Atlanta team in football. Well, here it is. Sandy Creek will win it.
AAAA State Champions: Sandy Creek
Camden County versus Northside. I get chills thinking about it. I know this Camden County team is very talented. I am blown away at the heart that this Northside team shows. I have made “homer” picks for years on this blog. I have generally had long justifications. This one is simple. The school and team that I love is in the State Championship for the fourth time in five years. My pick is simple. I don’t need a reason!
AAAAA State Champions: Northside!

Let’s play a good clean game Buford and may the best team win. Go Jackets, sting em’. I’ve waited a whole year for this rematch, we know we can play at this level and we know you can be beat. Let’s see the “Freak” go crazy, we go 2 other good wide outs and 2 good tight ends, a cat quick tailback and a QB with a quick arm and smart reads. The defense is big up front and some LB’s that like to hit. Great kicking game and special teams. We are ready for the rematch.

1bighammer: No dis to the Creek at all, but I grew up when teams trembled at the thought of setting foot in Death Valley just off of Baxter Street in Athens. These kids have risen from the mudhole of mediocrity to levels that I don’t think anyone expected, and they have just gotten stronger as the playoffs got deeper. I expect to see a great game, but I have to stand by my earlier statement. Glads rock the Dome as they take the crown. Maybe a little closer than the 30-14 I posted last night, but not much.

Hear kitty kitty wildcats meat, are you referring to Northside being meat for the Wildcats or do you (hear) the Wildcats coming for Eagles meat. So Lowdnes and Colquitt don’t count as Region 1 AAAAA competition? Looking for clarification. Plowboy do you really believe that Northside will hold Camden to 10 points, and Camden will give up 28 points. Camden will showup and be prepared to defend their 2008 AAAAA State Title.
Northsides play-off trek:
Chapel Hill-35-14
Union Grove 21-10
P-ridge- 20-17
Newnan: 29-24
Camden:
Newton: 43-19
Lowdndes: 10-7
North Gwinnett: 35-0
Colquit: 19-10
Remember 1 AAAAA is the ” SEC ” of AAAAA football. Camden took down the #2 and #3 from that region. Seems to me that they are evenly matched. Hard to think that either team will give up a lot of points. Last year is just that, last year. These 2 teams have both matured over the last 4 games. Should be a great game. AVIKING FAN, we will continue to pray for you and your family, for a full recovery. Good to see you back on, true, God, Family and Friends. Me and my son will be leaving early saturday to catch all of the games we can. We are going to make it a full day of football. Best wishes to all teams. Thanks a ton to the Eagles for a fun football season, and more fun to come! When my folks were pulling me out of Northside Middle to travel down and see Northside get waxed by teams like Evans and Valdosta…and we were the lowly step brother of the hated crosstown rival Demons, I had no idea i would get a decade plus of such great football. It has been so much fun to listen to and attend the games over the years! You continue to exceed my expectations! THANKS!!!

Also, thanks to most of the bloggers who have made this a fun site to visit several times a week. I read more than I post, but I read a lot. I have gotten a lot of knowledge and entertainment from many of you. It made the high school football season much more fun!

lil jig,
Let me start by saying that I agree with you about one thing. It will probably not be a blowout. Peach Co. has one of, if not the best program, year in and year out, in AAA. I have nothing but respect for them and their coaching staff. Now that I’ve said that, let me say that THIS year, Gainesville has the best assemblage of talent in AAA that I’ve seen all season, and I’ve seen a lot of AAA football this year. the only game that Gainesville has not won by double digits is their come from behind win over Flowery Branch last week. In this years’ playoffs, Gainesville has beaten BOTH of the finalists from last year – in consecutive weeks. Everyone knows about their explosive offense, but what will win the Championship for them this year will be their defense. The most pionts scored on them all season was last week – 21. on second thought, their defense only gave up 14, FB returned an interception for a TD last week, which means that the most points their defense has allowed is 17. Their ofense has not scored fewer than 29 all season, and has been held under 30 only ONCE all season. Do I expect Gainesville to score 30 on PC? No, but I don’t think that they will give up more than 17 either. Gainesville wins 28-17.

Sportsfan,
I normally enjoy reading your posts, but this week there seems to be a S. Ga. homer theme to it. Do you really believe that ALL S. Ga. teams that are left in the playoffs will win? Highly doubtful, especially in AAA.
Now for my picks:
In A:
Don’t know a lot about either team, but Wilcox beat the odds on favorite to win A. That’s good enough for me, although they could have a letdown after such a big win…Nah. This is the finals, it doesn’t get any bigger. Wilcox 21-14.
AA:
This is a hard one for me to pick. Buford just beat Fitzgerald on the road, a team that was most peoples pick to win AA. On the other hand, Calhoun just beat the only team to defeat Buford all season. I saw Buford play earlier this season (I think it was their second game of the season against North Hall), but wasn’t overly impressed with them. After the loss to Lovett, they became more focused, and seemed to start to gel. Sometimes the best thing to wake a team up is a loss, and this seems to be the case. Buford 24-7.
AAA:
Peach Co. and Gainesville resemble each other a lot. From their domination in their region, to their recent struggles in the playoffs. Gainesville should have beat Cairo by 21. Flowery Branch gave them all they could handle last week, even outplayed Gainesville until the fourth quarter, but as great teams often do, Gainesville found a way to win. Peach Co. did the same thing the last 2 weeks. A coach will tell you that one of the hardest things to do is beat a team twice in the same season, must less in 4 weeks time. Gainesville destroyed FB the last week of regular season, so most of the players, against the warnings of the coaches, came into last week thinking that it would be a cakewalk. Gainesville got their wakeup call last week. Peach Co. can win a close one. If it’s a blowout, then Gainesville will be on the winning side of it.Don’t look for that to happen. Gainesville 28-17.
AAAA:
Sandy Creek lost early and most people said that they were overhyped. I guess people are rethinking that philosophy now, huh? Clarke Central is this years’ Cinderella. Where I would love for NE Ga. to have 3 titles, I think that the cream rises to the top in this one. Sandy Creek 31-14.
Now for AAAAA:
I used to be a big fan of NSWR, but the ENR happened. His arrogance has really turned me off to NSWR. Nonetheless, looking at who they have played and beaten, my hat’s off to both, NSWR and Camden. With Camden, it’s more than who they have beaten, it’s how they have handled the adversity of early season losses, combined with a soft region (no slam intended here, just stating the facts). It must have been hard to gauge how much they were improving while playing within their region, all they did was just keep winning. Their non-region schedule made up for what they were missing in their region schedule. As for NSWR, what can I say about them that ENR hasn’t already said? Their schedule was second to none. For those people knocking them for playing Carver, Columbus, think about this: NSWR had nothing to gain and everything to lose. If they beat CC (which they did), they were expected to. If they lost, a lot of people would have ridiculed them for losing to a team in a lower classification. So I say kudos to them for scheduling a tough team like CC, regardless of classification. Their region record speaks for itself, quality wins over Lowndes, Colquitt, a nailbiter with Valdosta, and their only loss to city rival WR. Their record speaks for itself, and last weeks’ win over Newnan on the road says even more. This one’s tough to call, so I’m going with the theme of the year for the score 10-7……….Camden County.

NTH Trojans — You are right, you know nothing about the AA game. Cahoun scores only 7 ? They put 42 legit points up on Lovett last Friday. After the score was 42-21 midway in the 4th, the game was basically over. That’s 42 on a final 4 team. The only way Calhoun scores only 7 is if the team misses the bus and the Calhoun AA state champ cheerleaders play and Buford gives them a mercy score.

I don’t see NSWR beating Camden. It will be close and a low scoring affair, but the Wildcats are just too strong. Would love to see a region 1AAAAA counterpart win, but I have to go with Camden, 14-10.

@ NTH and lil jig – St. Pius has seen both teams.
We lost 28-25 to Gainesville in a preseason scrimmage. Granted – it was a scrimmage. Both teams were rotating starters and backups in and out. But it was enough to get a good look. Gainesville has some serious D1 talent.
We lost to Peach in the quarters in a defensive slugfest that could have gone either way with a bounce in OT. Peach had some good talent and a lot of heart to hang in there and win it.
I give Gainesville the edge on offense – defenses are roughly even.
My pick – Gainesville in a close one – 21-17.
Good luck to both teams!

Greetings NTH Trojans ,
Sounds like I hear a little hateration (new word for today) in your voice.
Now allow me to inform you for Class A, both teams are from South Georgia right? I’m taking Savannah Christian on this on one. Wilcox County may be good, (otherwise they would not have been here) but i do believe that Savannah Christian is the better team.
Class AA, not taking anything away from Buford who has history in winning but I do believe that Calhoun will edge this one out.
Class AAA, Gainesville is a power house in it’s class along with a winning history as far back as I know. But I giving the edge to “Middle Georgia” Peach County. I do know about this program and they are very successful. Better take Peach County.
Class AAAA, Sandy Creek: They has truly surprised me through out the post season beating teams after teams. They are the new team on the block in making it the finals. Clarke Central has old history and have been here under their legendary Coach. I’m taking with the Big Boys in this one. Clarke Central.
Class AAAAA. Whoa!!!! This goes game speaks for itself. I had been talking up this match weeks ago. Lot of notoriety to be known on this game. Northside Warner Robins: A Great Football Team who has proven themselves and has won against all odds in the States Toughest Region. heck, I will go as far as saying The United States toughest Region in football. “The little South Eastern Conference Of Football”. Northside has won back to back State titles in Class AAAA prior to moving up to the Highest Classification AAAAA. A Northside Warner Robins win this weekend will add them to the list with other Football Perennial Powers as winning the State Title in more than one Classification.
Camden County: WOW!!!!!! there is so much to say about this Perennial Power house in Football. For years Camden County Camden County was a good team prior to Coach Jeff Herron arrived there. They are in the Region that I played in and played against them. I went to Bradwell Institute and during my years we use to beat each other and we held the series against them. It use to be Camden County, Bradwell Institute, and then every body else. But when Coach Jeff Herron arrived there, he change the game, and has elevated this team like no other football program I have seen before. Now it is Camden County, and everybody else. People talked, and made bias comment as to how weak Region 3-AAAAA is yet, Camden County has beaten at least one of every contender in every region in this AAAAA Classification. In my opinion, it does matter what Region GHSA place Camden County, the result would be the same. Camden County would still win the State Title. If Camden County wins the State Title this year, then they too will be on the list as winning three Title in one decade.
This will be a serious battle between both great teams. A great match up of defense. However; I am giving Camden County the edge over Northside Warner Robins on offense. But not only do both teams have enormous talent, they you have great Coaches. With depth that Camden County has, I am giving this to Camden County. This will be a great football game. Take Camden County.
So now you heard it from me.

I am having a high school football hangover here. My Packers were sent packing by the wildcats and just kind of in that blue zone. There is no reason to look forward to basketball season in Colquitt county, we are a joke with the round ball. Watch out in baseball though. Anyway searching for a reason to beat that CC Packer drum.
Good luck to all teams this weekend, and go NSWR Eagles.

SportsFan31313: I just wanted to provide a few facts about the big game at the Georgia Dome. First, the past means nothing in these games. However, I read a post where you actually claimed that Northside had NEVER beaten Camden County as a AAAAA school. After review, that is certainly true. However, Northside is 2-1 against Camden County. The Wildcats have only beaten Northside once. I would suggest that a series evaluation is useless when teams have only played 3 times.
We do have multiple games played in the playoffs at the Georgia Dome. Northside has won 4 straight games at the Georgia Dome in the GHSA playoffs and stand 4-1 at McConnell-Talbert North. Camden County is only 2-3 and have only beaten one team in the playoffs at the Georgia Dome. The Wildcats have beaten Newnan twice.
FYI: Northside is an entirely different animal than Newnan. I have no idea who is going to win the game on Saturday. I, of course, believe that our Eagles are going to win. At the end of the day, it should be a great game. I will take 4 straight wins and 4-1 over 2-3 on any day. Camden County has NEVER beaten a team from South of the Gnat Line in the playoffs at the Georgia Dome.

Sportsfan,
No hating here, just calling it the way that I see it. I’m not trying to ruffle your feathers, others maybe, but not yours. I actually agree with a lot of what you say in your posts throughout the season. Unlike other south Ga. posters, you don’t think that the football knowledge of people in the metro area and north of it, is inferior to yours. We both pick Camden and Sandy Creek, but differ on AAA and A. I think that AA is a tossup (the same can be said for A and AAA), but I go with Buford because of their history of playing in the big game and the Ga. dome. By the way, that was a typo on the prediction on Buford/Calhoun, the score was supposed to be 24-17, sorry about that. As far as Gainesville goes, I don’t think that most people realize just how good their defense really is. They allowed an average of 6 points/game in the regular season, and that’s with their second and third teams playing most of the second half in those contests. They held Connor Shaw and Flowery Branch to their lowest point and yardage totals in those games, ask Carver, Columbus just how hard that is to do. If Gainesville jumps out to a 14 point lead early, this game will be over by halftime. I don’t look for it to happen, but Gainesville can score with their offense, defense and special teams, and do it quickly. Of all the games, the one that could be a barnburner is Buford/Calhoun.

SportsFan31313: Do you have any insight to why Camden County has only beaten Newnan in the playoffs at the Georgia Dome? Is the Georgia Dome a field of horrors for the Wildcats? I will admit, I was 50.1%-49.9% on the Northside-Camden County game. After reviewing the way that Camden County plays at McConnell-Talbert North, I mean the Georgia Dome, I know that I am going to sleep like a little baby on Friday night.
I told you earlier this season that Lowndes County time ranked third in the nation was going to be short-lived because Northside does not lose at McConnell-Talbert and that the Vikings were SUSPECT on the road. You and many others laughed. Of course, I was laughing last. The Vikings are SUSPECT.
I picked all four programs from outside of metro Atlanta in the state quarterfinals. Of course, that was met with laughter. At the end of the day, I sounded profetic. Truthfully, it was a simple pick. The football in metro Atlanta is SUSPECT.
Now, our Eagles face the strong Wildcats from Camden County. SportsFan31313, like the numbers or not, I am a firm believer that history usually repeats itself. Newnan appears the be the only program that Camden County can beat on that field. Camden County is not playing Newnan on Saturday night. Camden County can not beat Lowndes County, Brookwood, Grayson at the Georgia Dome. What makes you think that Camden County can beat Northside? Depth? Our Eagles have depth.
Can Camden County beat anyone outside of Newnan at the Georgia Dome? SportsFan, our Eagles are not going to be a part of breaking the trend. There is no accident that Northside has won four straight at the Georgia Dome. We are the trend! Join the Eagle bandwagon or get the wheels knocked off of whatever you are coming to Atlanta on. It is going to be a long trip back to Southeast Georgia, partner!
I told you this when you shameless started riding that Vikings bandwagon.
It’s great to be a Northside Eagle!

NTH Trojams: I do not know how supporting our program is a source of arrogance. You, of course, are entitled to call it like you see it. I respect that. I also respect trends. The home team usually win, especially if the road team has a long travel. This is true at all level of sports. Take a look at the records of West Coast professional teams when they travel, via private jet, to the East coast. The trend speak for themselves.
What would you have me do? Take a program that is 121-13 in this decade and predict that that team is going to lose? Scroll through this blog. I predicted that Warner Robins was primed to beat our Eagles for weeks on this blog. I predicted that Tift County was a trap game for our Eagles, which it was. I do not always pick Northside. I picked Northside 13 times this season out of fourteen games. That seems logical when evaluating a 121-13 program. 121-13 is practically a 13-1 clip.
Northside usually wins at home. Northside usually wins at the Georgia Dome. The Eagles are 4-1 and have won four straight. The Eagles face team that is only 2-3 in the playoffs at the Georgia Dome and have only beaten one program twice. Look, Newnan is a fine program. Newnan is NOT Northside.
I am going to pick Northside due to the fact that Camden County has NEVER beaten a program at the Georgia Dome except Newnan. Since Newnan is not playing, logic would direct me to say that Camden County has the odds stacked against them.
NTH Trojans, it’s great to be a Northside Eagle! I would caution you against questioning the Eagles. 121-13 and 4-1 at the Georgia Dome is no accident. Perhaps, you call this arrogance. I don’t get that. It is simply calling a spade, a spade.
Look, this is just a fun blog for trash talking and ribbing. It is nothing more or less. I told Newnan posters that it is girls’ basketball season at Newnan. Heck, it is girls’ basketball seaons at Northside too. We all know that. It is just fun to get people going. If you are going to the games on Saturday, please feel free to come join us at Stats between 6:00 pm and the kickoff. It is at 300 Marietta Street downtown, blocks away from McConnell-Talbert North. You will find that we are rabid Eagle fans and pretty nice people.

I have enjoyed your posts over the years since NHS met St. Pius in that nail-biter in the AAAA semis at the Dome.
The thing that has impressed me over the last several years is the way Conrad Nix adjusts his system/scheme to fit his players in a given season, game or series/situation. The man has forgotten more football than most people learn in a lifetime and has lost his share of big games in years past. But that accumulated experience factors into the streak you guys are on now. He earned that head of white hair on Friday nights. He makes the right call and the players are coached well enough to execute the decision.
I think NHS brings it home in AAAAA. Good luck!
P.S. This is for fun and football talk, so stay out of trouble ENR, and no talk about dancing bands, etc.

Someone needs to tell Flowery Branch about the home field advantage in the playoffs, they were only 7-1 in the playoffs over the last 2 seasons, defeating some pretty decent teams in that span, including Carver, Columbus. Their only loss on the road over that stretch was actually the one closest to home, Gainesville. Only 10 miles away.
I have no problem with you supporting and believing in your team, more people should have that kind of passion. What I have a problem with is your comment earlier in the year saying that people in the metro area don’t know as much about football as people in south Ga. ENR, Camden is 5-1 in the Korky Kell Classic in the dome for the past 6 years. Where thay have played all AAAAA schools. Camden has not faired well against Warner Robins. They are 0-2 against Northside in AAAA 1999 AND 1992, but are 1-0 in AAAAA. The 3 losses were to Warner Robins and twice to Lowndes. So the facts are Camden is 7-4 in the Georgia Dome. Camden has never played Newnan in the Georgia Dome, They beat them once at Chris Gilman and once at The Drake.

Grey Lion: I can only pray that you are correct. We have a big time program in Camden County. I am going to rib these Camden posters over the next two days about the fact that they have only beaten Newnan at the Georgia Dome. Nonetheless, we all know that Camden is as good as advertised.
For now, I am begging any poster who is predicting that Camden County is going to win the state championships to explain to me why the Wildcats are WINLESS at the Georgia Dome against any program not named Newnan. It is girls’ basketball season at Newnan. Therefore, any intelligent and logical person would have to deduct that the odds are stacked against Camden County.
I think the Wildcats are afraid of the big lights at the Georgia Dome and SportsFan knows it. Name one AAAAA team that has been violated in the manner that Camden County has against Lowndes County. How do you load on to a bus and get beat 30-0 at the most glorious football stadium not named Sanford Stadium in your state.
Name the program…if you are not Newnan you are going to beat Camden County at the Georgia Dome. If you are Lowndes County…if you are Brookwood…if you are Grayson…everyone beats Camden County at the Georgia Dome. That is the status quo whether posters on this blog like it or not.

WarDawg: We are talking about the playoffs and you know it. The Corky Kell means that the Wildcats were fed some type of metro Atlanta road kill! I have extensively covered the weaknesses in metro Atlanta football. Wardawg, I have challenged posters, primarily from metro Atlanta, to name just one big city with worse high school football than Atlanta. To date, no one has produced that major city.
You are not allowing yourself to believe that the Corky Kell is the same as the level of play that one finds when they reach the Georgia Dome. Come on DAWG! Even you know better. It is a matter of fact that Camden County has NEVER beaten a program other than Newnan High School at the Georgia Dome in the playoffs. Corky Kell, i.e. Middle School Tournament statistics are not applicable in this grown man’s discussion.
The premiere programs in this state reach post season play at the Georgia Dome. When Camden County has been among those programs they are 2-3 and WINLESS against every program not named Newnan. Northside High School is an entirely different animal than Newnan, partner. You should ask around because you obviously are confused if you are giving this board Corky Kell numbers when you are talking about post-season play at the Georgia Dome.
I love it!
Pop Quiz for Wardawg:
1. Name one major American city with worse high school football than Atlanta?
Answer: In practically every US state the best teams come from the largest cities. Georgia is an exception where only one program has one a state championship in the highest classification in over a decade. This is amazing considering that almost 80% of the largest classification programs are located in metro Atlanta. No major city in this nation has such mediocre high school football. At least, metro Atlanta is widely considered one of the best high school basketball cities in the nation.
2. Name one program outside of Newnan that Camden County has beaten in postseason play at the Georgia Dome?
Answer: Camden County has NEVER beaten a program other than the Newnan Cougars. Every other program just hammers the Wildcats in postseason play at the Georgia Dome.
3. Name one program other than Camden County that has been violated by 30 points in the largest classification while playing a post-season game at the Georgia Dome?
Answer: No program other than Camden County has ever been disgraced in such a manner at this stage of the state playoffs. Teams usually man up at this stage. Not Camden County.
4. Name the status quo for high school football in Georgia?
Answer: I will help you on that one. Northside is the status quo!
5. Name the home to a professional American football team known as McConnell-Talbert North?
Answer: That is easy: Georgia Dome

Their QB is very poised and runs their offense like a vet. Very good with the backfield fakes and decision making. He has good escapability from the pocket, good speed to the perimeter and a better arm. The night they played us Peach’s passing game was disrupted by a good defensive scheme, timely blitz pressure and frankly, a couple of bad drops – which surprised me. Playoff pressure I guess.

Well I for one would like to see Coach Nicks win a 5 A state title befor he moves back down to 4 A. He is a very good coacha d deservs to win it while he is still in 5 A. No disrespect to Camden and their coach who has also done a great job at setting up a winning program year after year. They will be back to fight for a 5 A title many more times to come, Coach Nicks wont have that chance. So hear is to a really good coach that I will miss having in 1 AAAAA. Good luck coach Nicks.

Lil jig,
I’m not disrespecting Peach Co. at all. Pius beat North Hall by 14, a team that Gainesville trounced in the regular season 55-12. As far as the Cairo game goes, Gainesville should have been up by 21 in the first quarter, it was by far the worst defensive game that Gainesville has played all season – and they only gave up 19 points, 17 by the defense. As far as this Saturday goes, I wish that I could be there, but prior commitments won’t allow me to be. I’m going to be able to watch Gainesville/ Peach Co, but that’s probably the only game that I will get to see Saturday. It’s going to be a very interesting game to watch, I really don’t know what to expect. Both teams breezed through the regular season in very good regions (1AAA had 2 teams in the quarters 1 in the semis, 7AAA had 3 teams in the quarters, 2 in the semis), Peach had 2 close games in the playoffs, Gainesville had one (by close games, I mean games decided by a 10 pionts or less), and both teams score a lot of points, while giving up very few. Which begs the question, defensive struggle or offensive slugfest?

Okay, so the AJC picks Camden, what else is new, they also picked Peachtree Ridge and Newnan against Northside, see the trend here, they are always wrong, and the beat goes on. The AJC did not pick Northside because we are the underdog, a little 4A school against the mighty Camden who should be in 6A. The bigger they are the harder they fall.

He ENR, I guess you missed last year when Camden beat Peachtree Ridge 21-14, the team you almost lost to last week at your home stadium, in the GEORGIA DOME. Get your facts straight.
So, let us be real. This is 2009, not previous years, and history is not what you say it is, and it does not matter. Every week, Camden has been getting better, stronger, faster, and hungrier, while Northside has been getting scares from second-rate teams. Heck, an offensively weak Newnan scored 24 on your “strong” defense. What do you think is going to happen Saturday night? Ask Lownes what happened on the first play from scrimmage in that game….48 yard PASS (not a run). They never were the same. Good luck stopping Aundre and Ean.
Herron has a big surprise for you. Actually, I will sleep soundly every night. I will be surprised if this one is close. Camden will win by more than one score. 13-2, back to back. Northside can have Atlanta and call it Eagle Nation, enjoy your stay while Camden takes the State Championship trophy back to Southeast Georgia.
Good luck to both teams. It will be a great game. Both teams are great programs, and whoever wins is most deserving. Oh,one more thing, no one really knows who will win, but I promise you that the best two teams are playing for the prize. IT WILL BE SETTLED ON THE FIELD, NOT HERE. But is sure is fun to talk smack, huh?

Northside has a great team. That is why they are playing for a State Championship. Camden will have to play their best to win. I am a Camden Fan and anyone that makes comments in a negative manner against Northside is crazy. We respect Northside and we will never underestimate their abilities. Camden will be ready to play the game of their lives. We will always be in the hunt for a State Championship as long as we have Coach Herron and his staff. The coaching staff is the difference between being an average team and a great team. That is why Camden will win its third State Championship. The kids are well versed thus their abilities are enhanced. Camden will win. Go Cats

NHS, Excuse me, but were you trying to make your school look better or give NS an excuse in case they lose, by complaining about Camden having so many more students. I don’t remember hearing Valdosta complain about playing much larger schools. In Buford’s run of 60 or so victories in a row, they played many larger schools including some AAAAA ones and they’re AA. Come to think of it, I don’t remember ever hearing Charlton County, with less than 500 students, complain about playing Camden and Lowndes, VOLUNTARILY IN THE REGULAR SEASON. Just as I think Charlton, who has been a model and feared program playing up in AA for years, will dominate in A, I think NS will do the same in AAAA, but it won’t be easy. Your playing up for a few years, is no big deal, the Savannah schools do it all the time, as do many other schools. Speaker Murphy forced the weak, money-hungry GHSA to make all private schools take their student count and then add one half more to determine which class they played in, so that his daughter or d-in-law could have a better chance of winning a debate championship at Bremen. Marist is actually a AA school and plays up in AAAA every year. I know there are many other schools which play up, and in every class there is a huge difference between the smallest and largest student bodies. So please brag on your school without saying there is something wrong about Camden being so much larger. Best of luck all schools!

ENR : not sure where you get your info but Camden has played Newnan once in the Dome for the playoffs(03). Our 3 dome playoff losses were to Brookwood in 02(on a horrible call when we went for 2 and scored. Refs came out after game and admitted they screwed the call) and Lowndes 2x. That is our losses our win in the playoffs at the dome peachtree ridge (08)and newnan (03). Stop spewing the hate. Your still upset about last year but you need to let it go as you will have anither years worth of hate after saturday night to deal with !!! Go Cats !!

As a fan of the only school to play both Buford and Calhoun this year, I have immense respect for the strengths of both schools and have no idea how either of them can lose. I’m excited – not quite as much as if Lovett were playing one of them again – about seeing this game and what each will have to do to win, hoping, of course, that whatever they do will be in the best of sportsmanship, If one builds a quick large lead, that will be no excuse to leave before my girlfriend(the fat lady) sings. Of course, Calhoun can score from anywhere at anytime, but Buford is far from predictable when they need something out of their norm, and they can control the clock with 9-minute drives. So I look for it to be excitng from the opening kickoff, especially if Calhoun receives, until the final whistle. Buford, some posters have commented that some of your intimidation efforts may have been illegal, and maybe also dangerous. If so, you can win without playing with the attitude that it’s not illegal if the refs don’t see/call it, so make 6AA proud with the way you play. Calhoun, you probably won’t score 49 points on the Wolves like you did on us, but you may still put up a much larger number than they usually allow. I didn’t see Fitzgerald, but, if they can put 28 on Buford, you certainly can. Buford, Calhoun is even more explosive than we were, but you have improved and I don’t see them getting a large lead quickly like you allowed us. Your aggressive defense could work against you with their having the ability to get the ball in many playmakers’ hands. If you don’t sack their QB several times, you could come up short. Calhoun, if you don’t have one or two safety valves every pass play, you could come up short. Will it be 38-34, 24-21, 14-6, or 31-17? And who will win? Who knows, but I can hardly wait! Go AA finalists!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

SGAR, No, because that would mean that if Camden wins, Hoover, AL would be the GA AAAAA champs. WR can claim what they want, but if Buford wins, Lovett is still going to be #3 or 4. That’s the way it works. These five championship games are all about and only about the ten teams which have made it this far. Nobody who was eliminated earlier, no matter the excuses offered, has any claim to being the champ or even second. We will still be proud of our one victory over Buford(just as we are of our game against Calhoun) and our entire season. Lovett has a great coaching staff and athletic department and our guys and girls always compete very well, and these seniors have had an exceptionally good three year run! Football is one of our many sports and our long record in winning or top three finishes for the annual Directors Cup is the envy of many schools. If we don’t win, another team from our region does. Unfortunately, many HS sports fans aren’t even familiar with that GHSA award, but it recognizes overall athletic success for each classification. Except for the fun of watching these last games, it is now what another poster accurately called “Girls’ Basketball Season”, which for us also includes great Wrestling and Swimming and Diving seasons. Cheers for all HS student athletes, but special thanks to those boys who love to prepare for and play football!!!!!

Wardawg, you are so wrong that it is sad, or you are deliberatley trying to deceive. OK throw out AAAAA if it makes you feel better, but we’ve beat Camden twice in the largest classification (when it was AAAA). Northside has been to three semifinals in the largest classification, and to the state championship twice now. I can’t remember if the championship game in 2001 was AAAA or AAAAA, but it was the state’s largest at the time. When I was a sophomore we took the long boring ride to Camden during the playoffs and beat them down at their house, and that was in the largest classification. Not to mention that both years we won AAAA we would have creamed the AAAAA champ. One of those years Warner Robins made it to the Dome in AAAAA after we had hammered them earlier in the year. Whatever makes you feel better I guess.

AA Region 6 Fan: Thanks for clearing that up. I was just illustrating the logic? used by UGA fans after they beat Tech, that they were anointing themselves ACC Champions just because they beat Tech. As far as the Directors Cup, that is usually won by the metro Atlanta schools. The Directors Cup weighs all sports equally. A football state title counts as much as a wrestling title in the scoring. Even though the metro Atlanta schools fare poorly in football (especially in AAAAA), they more than make up for it in other sports.

It depends on what you call Metro Atlanta. If that means inside the perimeter, Then you are probably right about matro Atlanta poor showing in football in the AAAAA division. I’m not really sure how many teams inside the perimeter are AAAAA anyway. But if you are including the greater Atlanta Area, then I think you will find that more schools from that area have made it into the Championship Game than South Georgia. Since the AAAAA division began in 2000 11 teams within 50 miles of Atlanta have made the championship. 4 of those have won (i’m counting the PTR/Roswell game as 1 win). The rest of the state has sent 9 teams to the championship (including this year) and has won 6 championships (incuding this year). South Georgia has the most titles and has done extremely well. But the facts are the greater metro Atlanta area has fared fairly well overall.

Gainesville has a very athletic defense that starts wit #45 A.J. Johnson. He is only in the 11th grade, but he is a man amongst boys. He is a monster and really “brings the wood”. Gainesville’s LB’s are the strength of the defense, but the Red Elephants defense is strong across the board. Blake Sims is the star on the offense. He is a threat to take it all the way on every play. He is fantastic at running the sideline. If Gainesville plays there best Peach County will not win, but after last weeks scare against Flowery Branch, the hometown fans are not as confident. We are hoping the Flowery Branch experience works to our advantage. Peach County is too good not bring our A game.

Just kidding!!! Seriously, the Camdem that lost to Grayson in the Dome at the Corkey Kell is not the team of today. I really have not paid that much attention to NS this year other that what you have had to say. I know y’all have done very, very well and are to be congratulated. Having said that, Camdem impressed me big time by travel to North Gwinnett and winning. Like you say about NS, Camdem has kept winning after the first two loses in non region play.

The Wolves of Buford have solidified themselves as the Georgia Team of the Decade! They have won titles in every fashion imaginable… From a blow out – 50 – 0 vs. Lovett to a defensive struggle vs a great offense 13 – 10 vs Calhoun… 6 State Championships & 8 Finals in the past 10 seasons!!

@EagleNationRising I’m guessing you never heard of Douglass high school? As an alumnus of Douglass, the biggest problem that’s holding us back is the school system holds back the city of Atlanta football programs, same way in Dekalb, which is why MLK Jr’ H.S. coach is leaving. At Douglass we pulled in more money than any other school in the city, but we never saw that money, because we have to share it.So no, Football stadium, Alright weight rooms and that’s basically it. But out of all of that, Douglass is still able to turn out tons and tons of D-1 athletes and 4 NFLers. We had a game over at Morris Brown stadium 30,000 fans back in 2000, but Douglass never saw any of that money.

Ok, I know everybody has been waiting on JayBo’s commentary of the Calhoun-Buford game..ok calm down folks just kidding. Well first of all, I was 2-0 with my picks…I picked Buford and Sandy Creek…congrats 2 both! If you’ve been following the blog you know that i was pulling for Calhoun—my wife’s alma mater. Also those who know me know that I graduated from TCC…had to say that b/c I want all to know that my assessment of the game is unbiased.
Here I go…I have been following Calhoun for five plus years now and this team tonight provided them their best chance to win it all. What did you see tonight JayBo?? What was Calhoun problem JayBo?? There were three issues that caused Calhoun the game tonight: 1) TURNOVERS(4) 2) COACHING—Calhoun’s offensive coaches game plan needed more wrinkles…you gotta come into a state championship game with IMO atleast 5 new offensive plays that your opponent has not seen on film…you gotta have them in your back pocket!! Buford was ready and waiting on everything Calhoun did on offense. However, Calhoun’s defense played with a lot of heart..they were small, but boy were they rugged and hardnosed on D…they played good enough for Calhoun to win. 3) QB play….im not one for criticizing kids on her, but the QB aint that good period!! The QB from last year who quit the team(or replaced by the powers that be) was waaaaaaay better than the kid who transferred in!! I know they say he is a Vanderbilt commit, but he is not athletic at all!!!! If he was more athletic he could of taken a couple of those read options plays to the house, but only got about 10 yards or so b/c he’s slow! QB from last year was much quicker…if he was the Qb Calhoun wins this game easily!! Then his arm strength is not there…can not throw the deep ball good at all…his deep throws were all underthrown!!! Then he just holds the ball intead of leading his receivers….they were open, but with him holding the ball…the DB’s had time to recover! Again, the QB from last year who should have still be the QB was much quicker with his decisons!! These three things cost Calhoun the game tonight!!!

Gainesville is a community steeped in football tradition. Yes, the title has never been brought home but there’s always a first in everything. We love and support our guys and are so proud of a 14-0 season. I think today may be the day some of you south Georgia folks open your eyes and see a surprise. I feel something coming. I was part of the 82 team and we fell short. What has given me chills this week is seeing a piece in our newspaper that showed some of our 82 team guys and their sons who play on todays Red Elephant team. It just seems like it’s our time. Mostly, let us all pray for the safety of the traveling teams, fans and families. May no one get hurt on the field of battle and sportsmanship is the highlight of the day.

Congrats to Buford and Sandy Creek on winning their respective classification championships…let me throw my 2 cents in about this playing up or down in classifications. The GHSA set the guidelines based on school enrollment so if there’s any blame to be handed out it should definitely go them(GHSA), although you can petition to be allowed to play up or down, so in that retrospect maybe some of these perennial power teams should certainly consider moving up and playing in a bigger class…now all this talk about who’s the team of decade and who should be ranked where nationally and all that mess would be a moot point if the GHSA would adopt the format some other states have on determining a “TRUE” state champion, and that would be to have each classification champ play each other for the state crown…of course we know this will never ever happen, but it is something to look at
EagleNationRising

I believe that programs should play on an even playing field. If enrollment does not determine that playing field, I do not know what else a program could do. I believe allowing to play up or down based upon on the field success is opening Pandora’s Box. It is a slippery slope and rarely serves the good of the overall student body.
This is, at least, Buford High School’s second state championship in less than a month or so. They are back-to-back state champions in softball and three time state champions in football. There are 20 sports and activities sponsored and sanctioned by the GHSA. Unless Buford is simply rough-housing their competition in every one of those sports and activities, why should the Wolves play up? There are more athletes in a school than just the boys who play football.
“True” state champion? In my view, we already have 2 “true” State Champions! There is no arguing the matter. In approximately 15 hours we will have 5 “true” State Champions. I promise you any person on this blog questioning the “true” worthiness of either of those 5 State Champions is opening Pandora’s Box and approaching a very slippery slope. There is no large state in this nation that has this supposed “true” state champion. Georgia is the 10th largest state in the nation. Even most of the small states that have become famous for crowning one state champion (almost always a large school) have abandoned them. Go to Indiana and watch the basketball state championships. There are no longer any “Hoosier” storylines. Schools with similar enrollments compete with one another.
In a state as large as Georgia, you have to separate school’s by classification along the lines of enrollment. I only wish that the GHSA would wake up and come to some type of broader consensus about private schools. This issue will not go away because we close our eyes. I believe there will be a day that this issue affects larger schools. Then, I am certain that the GHSA will make a move.
Congratulations to our 2 “true” state champions Buford and Sandy Creek. I will take either of them and play any small state program that believes they are a “true” state champion. I believe the odds rest with the Georgia programs.

With all due respect to the Clarke Central posters on this blog, how exactly did the coach hand the game to Sandy Creek? It appears to me that there is not one athlete wearing a CC uniform that is going to be playing wide receiver at Louisville or running back at Mississippi State.
I have even challenged some Northside posters on this matter. Do you guys know what it is like to play high school sports against top tier athletes like the guys Sandy Creek had running out of the tunnel. I have attempted to explain to blogger on this site how impressive a program like Carver-Columbus is and how they are beyond loaded with talented athletes.
If anyone could complain, I would imagine that the posters from Sandy Creek would have had a larger complaint. Our Eagles played Newnan last Friday. The Cougars went a few possessions where they simply force fed the football to Ogletree. This guy is one of the best players in the nation. If we did not have a player like South Carolina bound Brison Williams, we would have simply had to take our medicine.
Sandy Creek had better players at major offensive skill positions. Only armchair quarterbacks who have no clue could point to the head coach at Clarke Central. One way or another the Mississippi State bound RB and Louisville bound WR from Sandy Creek were going to get theirs. It is frankly nothing that the head coach can do about it when you face a two headed monster like that.
Sandy Creek are state champions! Clarke Central is the runner-up and back to relevence in Georgia high school football after missing the party for over a decade. Let’s celebrate two fine seasons. Obviously, CC’s coach got his team to the State Championship. He can not be that bad! Griffin was the top team in the state for most of the season. Sandy Creek violated the Bears on their own field. SC must be pretty good.

Any “Red Elephant” recruiting going on up in Hall County? We already know how top flight Gainesville boys’ basketball programs recruit and get it done. What is really going on up in Red Elephant Country? It is only a question, Gainesville posters. I just know that GHS got real good and real loaded, real quick!
Before a single Gainesville poster goes nut, I know for a matter of fact that a certain head basketball coach loaded his program up and reached a few State Championship game with a certain Georgia signee at wide receiver who was a heck of a basketball player and with his “future” wife’s son who is the leading scorer for his Division I mid-major basketball team.
Yes, I am talking about “East Hall! East Hall! East Hall!” Is that sort of “reaching out” going on with the Red Elephants? I certainly hope not. The truth is the Red Elephants are playing a program from Middle Georgia. You guys should already know what happens when Middle Georgia teams hit the field.
For all of the talk about metro Atlanta and South Georgia, Wilcox County, Peach County, and Northside all represent Middle Georgia with strong teams and discipline programs annually. The Red Elephant faithful will have an opportunity to get up close and personal with one of Middle Georgia’s finest programs, Peach County, this afternoon. The Trojans are going to hit all night long. The Gainesville vs. Peach County game has the potential to be a real gem. Two great community programs. The way it is supposed to be. I love it!

Buford kids are State Champions. Sandy Creek players are State Champions. Any person who could argue their “true” worthiness should go out and find a wall. After identifying that wall, that person should go and talk to it. Perhaps, the wall can give them some insight to what a “true” state champion is. Again, name one large state that plays for one state championship. I am completely confused as to how any person could say that any team that wins the state championship in any classification is not a true state champion.
I would argue that the State Champion in high school football in Georgia is a much TRUER champion than the National Champions at the highest level of college football. “True” champions? What are you talking about? Do you believe that the NFL has a “true” champion playing a playoff system that is separated by conference, NFC and AFC? Do you believe that the NFL playoff system is a “true” playoff system in that some teams get byes and that some teams get home-field advantage with worse records because their team won their weak division?
In my world, “true” means equal playing field. I can give you a myriad of examples in football that are not equal. The NFL plays an unbalanced schedule based on a team’s previous season. Then, they award bye weeks in the playoffs. Then, they play through conference schedules. College football has a bowl system at one level and a playoff system in others that forces regional play. If the top two teams are from the same region, they must play one another before advancing to the quarterfinals. That is not fair or true. There are flaws with any system.
I see two fine State Champions who are as “true” as the morning sun.

CougarFan: Nothing personal was taken from it. I had a nice trip from the city down to Newnan. People were very nice and helpful in directing me through downtown towards the high school. I love it when people have passion for their school! I love my high school and I love communities like Newnan that get behind their programs. Drake Stadium was packed and a great environment for a high school playoff game.
I was even a little jealous. I wish Northside could play in a stadium like that. It was right there on campus. We play in a very nice stadium. However, it is a municipal/city stadium that all Warner Robins high schools share. It is also directly across the street from Warner Robins HS, our hated rivals.
When I was in high school, our games were played with a bright Demon with lighted green eyes overlooking the field. After we lost to Parkview in the State Championship game, that was changed. The Demons still keep a big “R” lit up across the street and put bright lights on a sign reminding everyone about their two National Championships.
I just wish Northside could play on Green Street at our high school. I love McConnell-Talbert. However, it would be nice to play at Conrad Nix Stadium or something like that right on campus. Even if it were smaller than McConnell-Talbert, it is something unique about playing right there at the high school.
Good luck to the Cougars next season. Hey, this was supposed to be a rebuilding year at Northside and Newnan. It looks like the Eagles and Cougar simply reloaded for 2009. I hope the Cougars have even more success next season. Good luck.

I have been Sandy Creek fan from the beginning and there have been great players at the Creek throughout our relative brief history, from J R Lemon (Stanford) & Jabari Holloway (Notre Dame)…Kedric Golston (UGA), Calvin Johnson & Andrew Gardner (both Tech), to the current guys like Neal and Davis.
I grew up in the 60s and 70s in South Fulton. They opened a new school in College Park in the late 60s (Lakeshore) and they were immediately successful. Their coach was named Charlie Brown. After a time, Brown left to go to South GA to coach. He came back to another new S. Fulton School (MD Collins) who prior to his arrival rarely won more than 2 or 3 games a season. It wasn’t long before they were winning most all their games and getting to the playoffs every year.
I say this because it is my long held opinion that if you have a high school coach with a good system, he will win wherever he goes. When Rodney Walker took over from the original coach (Don Tyre), it was readily apparent that he had a much better system (known for great defense)than Tyre and plugging in good athletes made our program successful. Rodney has coached several places and generally wins wherever he goes.
Chip Walker learned at the feet of a master and he has his own system firmly established, both offensively and defensively. It used to drive me nuts when we took delay penalties over and over as Chip would run the QB to the sideline after every play to get the next call. He doesnt do that anymore.
This season was not a fluke. We have generally gone 9-1 or 10-0 most of the last several seasons, only to lose early in the playoffs. Now that Chip has mastered the mentality of winning in the playoffs, I expect Sandy Creek to be a force every year.
Yes we have talented athletes, but every one of the current crop should thank their coach and his staff because his system works and they have become stars because of it.
Just one man’s opinion.

The only way to stop Buford and its recruiting is to not play them. Don’t show for the games, forfeit, no gate. If they are stacking teams full of students who don’t live there like they were a private school, let them play with themselves. Nothing wrong with having a good school, but it should be known what they do and decide if you want to play in the same class with someone with advantages. UGA would probably beat Duke in football more often than not but look at the budgets and recruitment power, and yes they are in the same division. Just call for what it is.

In county schools you go to the school that is in your district were you live. Buford operates the same as private schools. It is a city school that allows non residents to go there as long as they pay an equivalent of the city taxes. the amount is 1500-2000. The private schools in gwinnett county charge 12000-18000 a year. So you can see the private schools price tag would make it prohibitive for most to attend.
I also took the time to see if Buford strive for excellance was paying off. 2009 graduates of Buford averaged 1455 on the SAT. Not bad until you compare the surrounding Gwinnett County Schools. Here is a run down of their scores. Collins Hill (1529), Mill Creek (1542) North Gwinnett(1573) Peachtree Ridge (1553) and Dacula (1515). Those are the high schools closest to Buford. Mmmm, Maybe they are not interviewing for academic excellence.

HEY GO UG: I have no answers for you…except you are right the Grayson Game took alot out of us…But Really when you run a three down lineman front on defense against a team that uses their QB the way Northside does you can expect to give up 5-6 yards a play everydown..they just kept running QB to the left …QB to the Right..and then when we had enough of that they ran Shaquille O’Neil up the middle..no adjustments were made..and when you pick up 5-6 yards every play..the clock just keeps ticking and you can’t get your offense in any kind of rhythm..They had a great game plan and never waivered…GO UG..have a great time at the game and enjoy..be safe getting there..and I hope the game is as good as we all expect it to be…Talk to you soon..

You know what, I like Buford’s schedule. This year they played teams that were in higher regions and beat them. In the past though Buford was representing the state well by playing teams from Texas and Ohio and beating those teams badly. So don’t tell Buford to play harder teams or play Lowndes or any other team. Tell those teams to follow what Buford is doing and represent this state correctly.

Unfortunately, the only game I have been able to watch was the Buford-Calhoun game, but I CONGRATULATE all the champions and applaud all the teams which made it to the DOME. Neither the Wolves nor the Jackets seemed to be the same teams we played, but they put on an awesome gridiron battle, and the defenses were most impressive. When a team turns the ball over four times, it is unfortunate for them, but it doesn’t mean they gave the game away. It’s not like they just said “This offensive stuff is way overrated so why don’t we just throw the ball on the ground or throw it to a Buford player, and see if we can hold them again.” Buford took the ball away. And the undersized Calhoun defense played their hearts out and did what no other team has done all year in limiting Buford to 13 points, even with the Wolves’ coach pulling several surprises on offense. They were the two best that AA had to offer, and even though it was not as exciting as most, including myself, expected, it was a true epic battle between two passionate teams. And I’m sure it was plenty exciting enough for the players and coaches. This Lovett fan is proud that Buford once again represented Region 6 in an admirable and winning way. And I’m proud that we brought out the best in Calhoun in that game. Playing the best makes a team better and Lovett appreciates the opportunity to have played both of these teams this year. It’s hard to believe that Buford will probably be even better the next two years. When will it ever stop! lol Go Wolves, Go Jackets, and most of all

@btown beatdown – the Powerade Challenge is an invitation game played AT NORTH GWINNETT HS. James F. Byrnes came FROM SC to play a GA team, and Prattville came from ALA to play. Buford could have stepped up to the plate in its own backyard but didn’t. Know what you’re talking about when you try to run others down.

Let me get this right, one works really hard all season to attain a perfect 14-0 record coming into the dome for the right to play in the STATE CHAMPIONSHIP game. Gainesville is losing the entire game and then catches a huge break with virtually no time on the clock and scores. I completely understand the adrenaline is flowing and Gainesville wanted to take home a win, I don’t blame them. The safe bet would be to kick for the tie. Now I understand they botched one earlier but if they botch another one NO ONE is going to blame the coach, he did what he was supposed to do. Now everyone is going to criticize and second guess him. . If they complete the two then the Coach is a hero now he is a ZERO!

What a game! I expected more from Gainesville both on the field and in their coaching. Their coaching strategy was QB run left/right/middle, quick screen pass, and a deep ball every 5th play. The players looked like they were waiting for the other team to roll over at the mere sight of seeing all of that D-I talent. Especially not impressed with their QB as a QB. He may be a decent slot WR at the next level, though.
Peach County may be the best team in the state this year. Not much college talent, but they play great as a team. I’d love to see them play Buford and some of our Atlanta schools over the next few years.

I had no idea what the score would be but expected it to be close – 3 to maybe 7 points with Camdem winning. I know it is not over but looks like I might have been wrong about one part of that prediction! Camdem looks strong and Northside looks out classed. I am surprised by that. I really expected NS to be stronger. I know some will argue special teams but the good teams make things happen.

But I do remember people here saying,2 years ago, that NSWR would not even be able to compete in AAAAA much less 5-AAAAA and yet they are region champs and state runner ups. And lost only 4 games total over the last two years
But no matter what it’s just a game and 5 years from now none of it will even matter.

As for the team of the decade, here is my point. I am a huge Camden fan, but 121-13 for Camden and 121-14 for NS, I think they are both great in their own rights. Tonight was Cats night, but both are class programs. They are both programs of the decade in their own rights. Congrats to the Wildcats, 31-3.

Man I need to go to Vegas and pick games….I was perfect in my picks yesterday! I had Wilcox, Buford, Peach, Sandy Creek and Camden and I be dog if all of them didnt win…You go JayBo!!!! Congrats to all the Champions as well as their opponents!!!
Now to the final game tonight….Camden totally thrashed NS tonight!!!! What a complete well coached, well oiled football machine. Northside was dominated from start to finish and completely overmatched!!! While I give them credit for being a fine program who have won a lot of games, they still cannot win title games…PERIOD!!!!!! So lets officially remove NS name from the team of the decade discussion. Its between Camden and Lowndes and with Camden being so dominant, I give them the edge right now in the team of the decade debate!! A certain fella likes to bill Conrad Nix as the best coach in Ga. In the words of Terrance Moore, former sports columnist for the ajc, PLUEEZE!!!!! Remember a few years ago the folks down there in Warner Robins was about to run his behind out of town b/c he along with his teams always chocked in the big games. Then he finally won a couple titles and things settled down. But this guy Jeff Herron from Camden can flat out coach….his team passed more tonight than they have all season…thats coaching my friends!!! So Jeff Herron is the best coach in Ga….end of discussion…its certainly not Conrad nix!!!!!! Wow, Camden drug their opponent more than any other team did in the finals. Say it aint so…the GREAT NORTHSIDE, the better than every body else program, was the one who got drug….ok end of story!!!

Hey ENR
Just so you know, I told you two days ago that Camden would win by more than one score, just did not know that it would be 4 scores. The difference tonight was speed, Camden had way too much speed for NSWR. I told my father in law that the first 9 minutes would tell the tale, and 21 points later, it did. Van Brunt had no time to throw the ball, and his timing was off all night. He had receivers open, and missed them badly. He was chased out of his game. Speed is always the determining factor in games like this. NSWR could not match Camden’s speed.
Camden, back to back State Champions! Drive safely home.

First of all, I won’t to say congratulations to Peach Co. You earned it. The AAA championship was by far the most exciting game of the finals, followed by the A title game. As for why Gainesville went for 2, I knew that Miller would do it before they scored, Gainesvilles’ kicking game has been their achilles heel all season, it just didn’t play a factor until tonight. The only flaw that I saw with it was that I thought the best play in those circumstances would have been a QB draw, thereby leaving the ball in the most talented players hands on your team, and in the game. Even if he does make the extra point, Gainesville had not moved the ball well on Peach Co., and the running game of Peach had been very productive against Gainesville all night. With the kicking issues that Gainesville has had all season, going for two was the right call, and if he had it to do all over again, Coach Miller would probably do the same thing again. Just want to say congratulations to both Peach Co. and Gainesville on the stellar seasons both teams had. To all Gainesville players and coaches, hold your heads high, you have nothing to be ashamed of, Hall County is very proud of you guys.

Congrats to WilCo on the win, but enough already about their QB.
As a junior, he’s unpolished and wildly erratic. His best bet is to work his tail off this spring and attend as many QB camps as possible this summer to improve his short and medium throws. Otherwise, he’s a ‘bomber’–a high school QB that has gaudy stats because he plays on a team with great athletes and can sit back and throw bombs all game–and will end up like the Carver QB and the Peach QB from a few years ago.
If he works on his footwork and his short and medium range accuracy, then the sky is the limit. Until then, enough is enough….unless he’s gonna play Safety.

Van Brunt does not suck. He could not handle the speed of Camden, and could never get in his rhythm. He had a great year, he just ran into the best defense in the state. Where is Hoover and Grayson now? Those were the two best things to happen to CCHS this year. Camden routed the Eagles, but the Eagles still had a great year. Congrats to Camden for a well-played, well-coached game. There’s no question you deserve the Team of the Decade title. Great season, Northside. After losing 34 seniors last year, no one expected you to be here. No matter what, it’s still great to be a Northside Eagle. 121-14 this decade speaks for itself. And 67 of those wins were in AAAAA–including two state championship appearances. Don’t tell Northside they can’t play in AAAAA.

Camden-Cat 72–Don’t stereotype an entire fan base on the comments of a few people on a high school football blog. For the most part, Northside fans are nice, good-natured, humble people. We spent years having our butts handed to us by Warner Robins but remained some of the most loyal fans in the state. The arrogance you see on this board is a result of finally seeing success after years of disappointment–and the attitude you see from many on this blog is not the norm for Northside fans. Please don’t demean yourself and your team by mimicking the very behavior you criticize. Camden has a great team. They could play and win at any level in any state in this country. I will tell you what (everybody who knows me, know that I refuse to call him that) from NS is going to say about NS’s lost. Northside picked a bad day to make several mistakes. Special teams mistakes hurt us a lot late in the season, and really hurt tonight. That being said Camden flat out won the game and proved they are the better team. I would love to have a redo, but most of the time you would when you lose.
I am very proud of the Eagles and want to thank everyone involved for a great season. I did not expect this team to be in position to play for a championship this year. It was a lot of fun to follow.
Also, thanks to many of the bloggers who have been fun to read and banter with this year. It made it a lot more fun.
Go Eagles in 2010!

I guess ENR will surface in the morning. As I said in earlier blogs, Special teams and turnovers would be huge. 96 yds, 67 yds and (5) tunovers with (2) interceptions. Getting down 14 in a hurry doomed Northsides game plan. Coach Nix could never catchup. Before you know it, it was 21-3 at the half, and the 2nd half did not get any better. I told you Camden has a way of making you 1 dimensional. Let me see now, (1) Which region 3 AAAAA team swept region 1 AAAAA #1,#2, and #3 ranked team? Camden County.
Which region 3 AAAAA team defended their 08 title?
Camden County
Which region 3 AAAAA team shut down the #30 ESPN RISE team?
RivalsHigh 100 4. Northside
MaxPreps Xcellent 25 10. Northside
National Prep Poll 19. Northside
Camden County.
I told you polls don’t mean jack. I have to say I was disappointed to see so many Northside fans heading out at the end of the 3rd quarter. There were very few fans left to see their team collect their trophy. After all it’s about the kids. ENR I wish you a Merry Christmas, just think now Camden has beat a team south of the gnat line.

JayBo, I don’t have a team, per se. I’m from FL, but I’ve been a huge fan of GA (and FL) high school football since the ‘Game of the Century’ in Thomasville in the late 80’s. I’ve watched south GA teams, particularly Thomas CO Cent. and Valdosta, in person for several title games in the 90’s. I watched Josey, Parkview, and Shaw take titles as well. After coming back from Germany, I’ve seen middle GA teams from Peach, Carver, Lagrange, and Northside dominate recently.
I can say this: I graduated from FSU and Ohio St and have watched a high school game every week that I’ve been stateside since the early 90’s. So while I don’t have a team, I can give you an objective opinion of players and that kid from Wilcox is either a safety or a WR on the next level (based on his pass catching) unless he improves his footwork and his short to medium accuracy. He and that Sims kid aren’t QB’s, they’re ‘bombers’. No way does Alabama put that kid at QB. The kid from Peach is a decent QB and plays in a pro-style passing offense. The Lassiter kid needs to prove he can play under center, otherwise, he’s learning hand signals and holding a clipboard. No such thing as a perfect player–Ray Lewis and Derrick Brooks were absolute high school beasts, but they weren’t perfect–so it’s crazy to think that pointing out obvious flaws for any player equates to drinking haterade.

Congratulations to Camden for going back to back. Early in the season, to tough losses to Grayson in the the Kell and Hoover, AL on the last play of the game. Great coaching job by Coach Jeff.
Congrats to a fine season by Joel Ruiz. Started the season on the bench, but finished with a flourish.
Congrats to a fine season by Northside. Your team has nothing to hang your head about. You proved that you could play up at the highest level. It is too bad that they are moving back down. They can compete with anybody at the 5A level.
Shame on Northside fans for the way the left the game early. Even when Camden was blown out by Lowndes in the championship, everyone stayed until the end of the game. A no-class showing for sure to not support these young men.
Did anyone catch the interception by Jacque Roman in the App State-Montana game? Guess where he went to high school?
Finally, nice job Ean Days and Aundre Johnson. Hope to see Days in the flex bone at Georgia Tech.

Our young men and coaches are class and one awesome family! Coach Jeff did a fantastic job changing the the saying a few weeks back from “Fear the Paw”" to “Beileve in the Paw”! Coach Jeff Herron is a man of God that shows others around him that being a family brings everyone closer together. The coaches, players and fans did an incredible job bringing our communities together for one purpose and one goal! We are one blessed family here in Camden County!
Northside WR! Coach NIX and your team are a class group and be very proud of their efforts! Camden was undefeated in Region 1AAAAA this year,
In closing for this individual that had fun blogging this year! Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! And remember one more thing that I believe describes us so well “WE ARE CAMDEN”!!!!

THE DECADE STARTED IN 2001 AND FINISHES IN 2010. Yes, when we count we start with “1″ and finish with “10″ to complete a decade. In our calendar there was no year “0″. I quote from the UN Naval Observatory “Years of the Gregorian calendar, which is currently in use today, are counted from AD 1. Thus, the 1st century comprised the years AD 1 through AD 100. The second century began with AD 101 and continued through AD 200. By extrapolation we find that the 20th century comprises the years AD 1901-2000. Therefore, the 21st century began with 1 January 2001 and will continue through 31 December 2100.
http://www.usno.navy.mil/USNO/astronomical-applications/astronomical-information-center/millennium
so the argument of “WHO IS THE BEST PROGRAM OF THE DECADE?” has one more year to go and does not include Parkview because we don’t count the year 2000. Besides, I heard that Parkview did not have a 9th grade team this year & is obviously not the same program anymore, which is common for Metro public teams as their communities change so quickly so football does not have the continuity of smaller towns. It’s down to Lowndes & Camden to decide who is better during 2010 & NWR if you allow, as you should, AAAA to count as NWR is in AAAA next year. So by this time next year we should have a better idea of “Who is the best program of the decade?”
Have a good 2010 all,
Ben

Well, well. It sounds from the earlier post that many people want to hear from ENR. Well, hear I am. You boys should already know that I am far from a front-running Eagle. I am with my Eagles when we roll over people and I am certainly with our Eagle when things do not go so well.
Last night, things went “unwell” in the worst way. You can not lay eggs and come into games unprepared. I was always afraid of this team when we played programs that we beleived we were better than. Examples this season include Tift County, Warner Robins, Union Grove, and Peachtree Ridge. We were fortunate to only lose one of those games. Each of the aforementioned teams outplayed us. We still were fortunate to win.
I had to make sure my son was not having nightmates with Camden County Wildcats in them. Congratulations to a well deserved state champions. Coach Herron and his staff had the Wildcats ready to play. Unfortunately, our Big Blue were not.
At the end of the day, if you asked any Northside fan would they expect this group of Eagles to reach the state championship most would say, “no way!” I would have been right there along with them. These guys had a great season. They are the highest nationally rated team in Northside history. Northside fans and posters need to remember that. We just stepped into a hornets nest, full of some very talented Wildcats.
Congratulations Camden County. To our Eagles, we are VERY PROUD of you. It is great to be a Northside Eagle!
Let’s dust ourselves and get back on on horses and prepare for next year.

One final note before I go to church and pray that our Eagles never take a beating like the one we took last night. First I want to send well-wishes and a prayer for a full recovery for our friend from Valdosta, AVikingFan. Please take good care of yourself and we look forward to hearing from you next season. A big group of Northside fans met at Stats and I missed you. Ironically, many were back at Stats before the 4th quarter ended.
I would finally like to send a message of thanks and well-wishes to the AJC (Mark and Company), the guys at the GHSFDaily (Todd, Chip, & Company), and the guys working to build something over at ScoreATL. I know you guys do a great deal of work and probably get very little financial rewards in return. You provide a great resource for metro Atlanta and the entire state. We appreciate what you are working to build.
Yes, I am going to attempt to push you guys to follow the top programs across the state. I grew up in Warner Robins and spent many weekends of my life reading the AJC. I am old enough to remember when there were two papers. I see the AJC as Georgia’s paper in a similar way that the NYTimes is America’s paper. I know you have an Atlanta focus. I am a loyal reader and I will push for additional info of programs outside of the city. Something tell me that is why you guys have created the GHSFDaily.
I enjoyed blogging with you guys and we do thank you all for the work that you do to follow some of the best high school football in the world. I look forward to seeing you guys next season. A big congratulations to all five of our 2009 State Champions. We saw some great programs have soe strong seasons. Football is very healthy in the Peach State. See you next year! WildcatFan: Warner Robins is 100 miles south of Atlanta. People left so they could get home on a cold, wet, and rainy night. I live in Atlanta and started to think about my travel home since I had my son with me. Many Eagle fans (we brought the largest fanbase of any program during the State Championships, by far) are active in their churches and Sunday School. This is no excuse. It is simply a matter of fact.
I have a child and we are going to church. The game started at approximately 8:10 pm. I did not get home until 11:35 pm and I live less than 5 miles north of the Georgia Dome in Midtown. The roads were slick and wet. It did not make logical sense to sit in the Georgia Dome.
The Wildcats won and deserve EVERYONE’S congratulatory words. We were outplayed, outhit, outprepared, outcoached, and outclassed. On the other hand, I know that my younger brother traveled almost five hours to see our Eagles. My dad would travel another five to see Northside. They hit the road to get back home to Warner Robins. I take exception to you or anyone else questioning the Northside fanbase.
Something tells me that you are simply trying to get a reaction. I was critical of Newnan fans leaving last week. That is because they were in their own stadium. If you were in Atlanta last night with freezing rain falling, you would start to drive home and hour and a half south if your team was getting drilled 31-3 too.
I always believed that Northside would get back in it. I will go on record and tell you that I left with my tired 10 year old son when Camden County went up 31-3. My little boy, who has NEVER attended a school in Warner Robins, looked like he was about to start crying and I was tired of getting kicked around. I knew that it was raining and the temperatures were below 35. Yes, I left.
The Eagle fans who were still there were the ones who rode on the charter buses. Camden County did a great job and are a worthy State Champion. Let’s congratulate those guys and move forward. We graduated everyone last year and are VERY proud that our Eagles gave us such a fun season. I will take a 13 win season and a chance at the State Championship on any day. Win or lose, we will walk out with our heads high and continue to work to earn another State Championship next season.
It’s great to be a Northside Eagle!

So Ben, does that mean that the decade of the 90s started in 1990 or 1991? Since there is no year zero, it had to be 91, right? So the 80s ended in 1990? I will give you the century argument, but decades can have different rules. It is just more logical that the 90s start with 1990.

EAGLE NATION RISING ;;I live 5.32 hrs away and made it home 4:25 this morning with my 4 year old son and a 15 year old nephew. ONE QUESTION AND PLEASE ANSWER AND I WILL NOT SAY ANYTHING ABOUT IT AGAIN. IF THE TEAM HAD WON WOULD THE FAN BASE HAVE STAYED. MY opinion, which really doesn’t matter, but Yes that is and excuse, you guys are basically 2 hrs away, Camden 5 hrs 32 min, had to travel twice as far. We had to travel on those same slick roads. Your team deserved better. Oh by the way the reason i came back to Kingsland last night is because my son had to go to church with his grandparents in Jacksonville. So we all had the same issues as of travel, but we are talking about leaving to get home for a 2 hr trip. I would understand if you had the 5.32hr trip. Your reasoning doesn’t make sense.I passed many Camden fans and many Camden fans passed me on the way home, like i said we were on that same slick road for a much farther trip back home. I just think for a team that no one as your fans said expected to get this far this season after losing 34 Seniors, should have been applauded last night, instead walked out on.

ENR, I just can’t resist. Northside Warner Robbins was Thunderstruck! The polls don’t mean anything. Camden won and would win today to. Northside was outplyed and out coached. I thought we were in Savannah, all I saw was mistakes. Your fans are fair weather fans, you don’t walk out on your team no matter what. I can recall a couple of games with Lowndes, but a fan will stay. Camden is 330 miles south of Hotlanta, and we have church here to. By Northsides roster you had 15 seniors starting. GO PACK GO–Unfortunately for you, ifs don’t count in football. IF Camden County had not run a kickoff return and a punt return back for touchdowns in the first two minutes of the game, Northside might have won the game. You lost. End of story. With Camden going back to back & defeating the top THREE teams in Region 1-AAAAA this year it is time to STFU about their weak region & give Jeff Herron props as the best coach in AAAAA, if not the state. A question for Camden fans: What was your program like before Coach Herron came to Camden? Not trying to be flippant, but this is evidence that COACHING makes the difference in being a top program instead of an also-ran. Congrats to Camden, Sandy Creek, Peach County, Buford & Wilcox County on their state titles. Look for to more football banter in August 2010.

Reeze,, I was at the game and Im just asking why did the fans leave, before the team got their trophy, and would the fans have stayed if they would have won. My point exactly about last year, glad you mentioned that, you stayed because that game was still close. Your team was going to be presented with a reward at the end of the game and no one stayed to support them, Some of your fans questioned Newnan leaving early last week, when nothing was happening after the game. when their team was losing, your team was receiving a state trophy and you left. So why can your fans question another team and its a crime to question yours, when it was so evident last night. Not saying Northside doesn’t have great fans which they do. I just think you guys failed last night. Camdens whole side noticed it last night and was asking where were the fans going, it was a trophy ceremony after the game. And your team was part of that ceremony.

Yeah I believe that because Dave Hunter was the one that founded the event, Brookwood has a permanent spot. Mceachern also has a permanent spot. So they try to fill in the other 6 spots. For the next 2 years they have opted for a Gwinnett County vs. Cobb scenario. I guess that’s ok, but I would rather see some of the other strong programs from across the state, Camden, Lowndes, Newnan and so forth. Judging from Camdens season, I think it is important for these teams to play strong teams for thier non region games. Camden lost to both Hoover and Grayson, but used that to evaluate and motivate them for one heck of a season.
By the way, Congrats to Camden. You guys are the Team of the Decade as far as I’m concerned. Northside should also feel proud. Their boys worked hard and had a great season. Remeber. every team that makes the playoffs, except one, loses their last game.

But I believe three State Titles this decade, beating every contender in every region in Class AAAAA this decade, and the hammering of Northside Warner Robins for the State Title fr the 2nd straight year tells me that they have earned, and have taken their respect. That was a savage beating that the eagles has gotten from the hands of Camden County.:-) But with all jokes aside, these are two great football programs that played one another. No need for the Eagles Fans to hold their heads down. Northside Warner Robins played their hearts out and for that, I applaud them. It has been a terrific season for Northside Warner Robins and Camden County. Two great teams along with two great Coaches. I look to see next year as both teams regroup again for another successful season in their respective classifications. Again, the Class AAAAA State Title comes back to South Georgia, and to the so called weak Region of 3-AAAAA. Congratulations again to the Camden County Wildcats.

Does anyone out here know the fan count for the Class AAAAA State title game between Camden County and Northside Warner Robins?
In addition, which Title game brought the most fans?

Those camden kidsare drinking that south GA swamp water. It has all kinds of pollutants and toxins in it to make those boys super human thats why they were able to run over Northside like semi trucks

congrats to camden county! i was at the lowndes game and was impressed by your team and fans. you guys show alot of class. i would also like to wish northside the best as they move to AAAA. they are a quality opponent that can play with anyone in the state. we have enjoyed our battles with each of you and look forward to some more. i really believe that the teams from the south are put at a disadvantage against the atlanta area teams. valdosta has always been hated by the atlanta schools over the years. they will always be the measuring stick for successful programs. i feel atlanta area schools have take offense to this and have decided to do something about this. you can say what you like, but south georgia football over the years has tremendous.

Rivals.com ranked Northside as #4 and Gainesville as the #47 team in the NATION. Where does that place Peach Co? When the rankings come out tomorrow, Peach County should be in the top 40, if not 30.
Over the past 20 years, Peach Co is 207-48, with 11 region championships, 6 trips to the state championship game, 3 state titles, a 5-0 record in the Georgia Dome, and have sent 5 players into the NFL. This was all done without recruiting a single player. Very few teams, if any, even come close to this. Not Buford, Camden, not Northside, not Valdosta, not Parkview, and not Lowndes.
Peach Co.’s body of work is hard to match. Any takers?

2 questions for everyone here.
Is there a limit on the number of players a team is allowed to have? I noticed that some of the lower classes a thru aaaa had more players than a lot of class aaaaa teams. Never really paid attention to it before untill this weekend at the dome.
Didnt I read that (the wing t is dead and the spread is the way) some where on here last month? Saw a lot of running this weekend.

I believe that Sandy Creek had the largest attendance at the dome not Northside.
It would be interesting to see some official stats.

Just wanted to say thanks to AJC! Yes you kept us in the standing after we had lost two games. If I remember correctly you also chose both Greenville and Weslyan to put us out of the playoffs. I have said all season not to underestimate Wilcox. Our boys play with a lot of heart and commitment and that is what showed in the dome on Saturday. Nick Marshall is a SUPER athlete and a great team leader. He would appreciate all the calls for someone to offer him a Div 1 scholarship. Just do not be surprised if he refused. Nick is the high scorer for our basketball team that finished up in the final four last year and have every intention of bring another state championship home to Wilcox! Great Job Patriots!!!

EaglreNationRising – I raised two sons also and am proud that they both have graduated from college after playing football and baseball for Lowndes. I took them to Lowndes games from the day they were born. We NEVER left a game early, win or lose. If my team was on the field, my boys and I were in the stands along with my wife. You admitting leaving the Northside vs Warner Robins game early as you did the most recent game with Camden. I am in no way lecturing you, or talking down to you, but I am telling you when your players look up into the stands they DESERVE to see their fans still in their seats. Leaving early when losing is simply INEXCUSABLE. So don’t even go there and try to make a reason or excuse for it.
To Northside WR – ya’ll come back to region 1AAAAA when you think your team is ready to win with the big boys.(Just one last poking fun jab, ENR, take it easy on Jaybo next year.) Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. To you too, Reese and Northside Observer!

Many Northside fans left because they were embarrassed to watch that beating. They can dish it out, but they can’t take it. You can use the weather as an excuse if you want to, but everyone knows why you left early. That was a beat down!

Wouldnt the top 3 football programs of the decade have to be Camden County, Buford, and Lowndes, based the number of state titles they have won.

Thanks to all the people who believed in Buford. Lovett was a good team and losing to them made our team stronger and closet. Also to add it should have been Fitzgerald that we played in the dome, not Calhoun. It would have been a much more exciting game And they would have deserved it.
