Camden-Cat 72–Don’t stereotype an entire fan base on the comments of a few people on a high school football blog. For the most part, Northside fans are nice, good-natured, humble people. We spent years having our butts handed to us by Warner Robins but remained some of the most loyal fans in the state. The arrogance you see on this board is a result of finally seeing success after years of disappointment–and the attitude you see from many on this blog is not the norm for Northside fans. Please don’t demean yourself and your team by mimicking the very behavior you criticize. Camden has a great team. They could play and win at any level in any state in this country. Congratulations to the Wildcats. You earned that championship.

HS Fan,
I will tell you what (everybody who knows me, know that I refuse to call him that) from NS is going to say about NS’s lost. His hook line is going to be that NS was a very young football team with mostly juniors and sophmores starting and no one, including the NS people expected them to get this far. He’s going to say that his baby eagles superseded his expectations. After talking soooo much trash all week and for that last several seasons for that matter, get ready for the youthfulness excuse…put your boots on b/c its coming!!!!!!

Just wanted to come on and say props to Camden. You are the champs. You whipped our butts today. You earned it.
Northside picked a bad day to make several mistakes. Special teams mistakes hurt us a lot late in the season, and really hurt tonight. That being said Camden flat out won the game and proved they are the better team. I would love to have a redo, but most of the time you would when you lose.
I am very proud of the Eagles and want to thank everyone involved for a great season. I did not expect this team to be in position to play for a championship this year. It was a lot of fun to follow.
Also, thanks to many of the bloggers who have been fun to read and banter with this year. It made it a lot more fun.

I guess ENR will surface in the morning. As I said in earlier blogs, Special teams and turnovers would be huge. 96 yds, 67 yds and (5) tunovers with (2) interceptions. Getting down 14 in a hurry doomed Northsides game plan. Coach Nix could never catchup. Before you know it, it was 21-3 at the half, and the 2nd half did not get any better. I told you Camden has a way of making you 1 dimensional. Let me see now, (1) Which region 3 AAAAA team swept region 1 AAAAA #1,#2, and #3 ranked team? Camden County.
Which region 3 AAAAA team defended their 08 title?
Camden County
Which region 3 AAAAA team shut down the #30 ESPN RISE team?
RivalsHigh 100 4. Northside
MaxPreps Xcellent 25 10. Northside
National Prep Poll 19. Northside
Camden County.
I told you polls don’t mean jack. I have to say I was disappointed to see so many Northside fans heading out at the end of the 3rd quarter. There were very few fans left to see their team collect their trophy. After all it’s about the kids. ENR I wish you a Merry Christmas, just think now Camden has beat a team south of the gnat line.

JayBo, I don’t have a team, per se. I’m from FL, but I’ve been a huge fan of GA (and FL) high school football since the ‘Game of the Century’ in Thomasville in the late 80’s. I’ve watched south GA teams, particularly Thomas CO Cent. and Valdosta, in person for several title games in the 90’s. I watched Josey, Parkview, and Shaw take titles as well. After coming back from Germany, I’ve seen middle GA teams from Peach, Carver, Lagrange, and Northside dominate recently.
I can say this: I graduated from FSU and Ohio St and have watched a high school game every week that I’ve been stateside since the early 90’s. So while I don’t have a team, I can give you an objective opinion of players and that kid from Wilcox is either a safety or a WR on the next level (based on his pass catching) unless he improves his footwork and his short to medium accuracy. He and that Sims kid aren’t QB’s, they’re ‘bombers’. No way does Alabama put that kid at QB. The kid from Peach is a decent QB and plays in a pro-style passing offense. The Lassiter kid needs to prove he can play under center, otherwise, he’s learning hand signals and holding a clipboard. No such thing as a perfect player–Ray Lewis and Derrick Brooks were absolute high school beasts, but they weren’t perfect–so it’s crazy to think that pointing out obvious flaws for any player equates to drinking haterade.

Congratulations to Camden for going back to back. Early in the season, to tough losses to Grayson in the the Kell and Hoover, AL on the last play of the game. Great coaching job by Coach Jeff.
Congrats to a fine season by Joel Ruiz. Started the season on the bench, but finished with a flourish.
Congrats to a fine season by Northside. Your team has nothing to hang your head about. You proved that you could play up at the highest level. It is too bad that they are moving back down. They can compete with anybody at the 5A level.
Shame on Northside fans for the way the left the game early. Even when Camden was blown out by Lowndes in the championship, everyone stayed until the end of the game. A no-class showing for sure to not support these young men.
Did anyone catch the interception by Jacque Roman in the App State-Montana game? Guess where he went to high school?
Finally, nice job Ean Days and Aundre Johnson. Hope to see Days in the flex bone at Georgia Tech.

Our young men and coaches are class and one awesome family! Coach Jeff did a fantastic job changing the the saying a few weeks back from “Fear the Paw”" to “Beileve in the Paw”! Coach Jeff Herron is a man of God that shows others around him that being a family brings everyone closer together. The coaches, players and fans did an incredible job bringing our communities together for one purpose and one goal! We are one blessed family here in Camden County!
Northside WR! Coach NIX and your team are a class group and be very proud of their efforts! Camden was undefeated in Region 1AAAAA this year,
In closing for this individual that had fun blogging this year! Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! And remember one more thing that I believe describes us so well “WE ARE CAMDEN”!!!!

You know the outcome,14-13 final score,14 – 1. One of the greastest team ever assemble. That the way it goes sometime. PC just left the building.

THE DECADE STARTED IN 2001 AND FINISHES IN 2010. Yes, when we count we start with “1″ and finish with “10″ to complete a decade. In our calendar there was no year “0″. I quote from the UN Naval Observatory “Years of the Gregorian calendar, which is currently in use today, are counted from AD 1. Thus, the 1st century comprised the years AD 1 through AD 100. The second century began with AD 101 and continued through AD 200. By extrapolation we find that the 20th century comprises the years AD 1901-2000. Therefore, the 21st century began with 1 January 2001 and will continue through 31 December 2100.
http://www.usno.navy.mil/USNO/astronomical-applications/astronomical-information-center/millennium
so the argument of “WHO IS THE BEST PROGRAM OF THE DECADE?” has one more year to go and does not include Parkview because we don’t count the year 2000. Besides, I heard that Parkview did not have a 9th grade team this year & is obviously not the same program anymore, which is common for Metro public teams as their communities change so quickly so football does not have the continuity of smaller towns. It’s down to Lowndes & Camden to decide who is better during 2010 & NWR if you allow, as you should, AAAA to count as NWR is in AAAA next year. So by this time next year we should have a better idea of “Who is the best program of the decade?”
Have a good 2010 all,
Ben

Very good for a weak region. Now come on SAVANNAH Schools do what you are suppose to do, we did our part, REGION 3AAAAA HAS THE 2008 AND 2009 STATE CHAMPIONS. Well, well. It sounds from the earlier post that many people want to hear from ENR. Well, hear I am. You boys should already know that I am far from a front-running Eagle. I am with my Eagles when we roll over people and I am certainly with our Eagle when things do not go so well.
Last night, things went “unwell” in the worst way. You can not lay eggs and come into games unprepared. I was always afraid of this team when we played programs that we beleived we were better than. Examples this season include Tift County, Warner Robins, Union Grove, and Peachtree Ridge. We were fortunate to only lose one of those games. Each of the aforementioned teams outplayed us. We still were fortunate to win.
I had to make sure my son was not having nightmates with Camden County Wildcats in them. Congratulations to a well deserved state champions. Coach Herron and his staff had the Wildcats ready to play. Unfortunately, our Big Blue were not.
At the end of the day, if you asked any Northside fan would they expect this group of Eagles to reach the state championship most would say, “no way!” I would have been right there along with them. These guys had a great season. They are the highest nationally rated team in Northside history. Northside fans and posters need to remember that. We just stepped into a hornets nest, full of some very talented Wildcats.
Congratulations Camden County. To our Eagles, we are VERY PROUD of you. It is great to be a Northside Eagle!
Let’s dust ourselves and get back on on horses and prepare for next year.

One final note before I go to church and pray that our Eagles never take a beating like the one we took last night. First I want to send well-wishes and a prayer for a full recovery for our friend from Valdosta, AVikingFan. Please take good care of yourself and we look forward to hearing from you next season. A big group of Northside fans met at Stats and I missed you. Ironically, many were back at Stats before the 4th quarter ended.
I would finally like to send a message of thanks and well-wishes to the AJC (Mark and Company), the guys at the GHSFDaily (Todd, Chip, & Company), and the guys working to build something over at ScoreATL. I know you guys do a great deal of work and probably get very little financial rewards in return. You provide a great resource for metro Atlanta and the entire state. We appreciate what you are working to build.
Yes, I am going to attempt to push you guys to follow the top programs across the state. I grew up in Warner Robins and spent many weekends of my life reading the AJC. I am old enough to remember when there were two papers. I see the AJC as Georgia’s paper in a similar way that the NYTimes is America’s paper. I know you have an Atlanta focus. I am a loyal reader and I will push for additional info of programs outside of the city. Something tell me that is why you guys have created the GHSFDaily.
I enjoyed blogging with you guys and we do thank you all for the work that you do to follow some of the best high school football in the world. I look forward to seeing you guys next season. A big congratulations to all five of our 2009 State Champions. We saw some great programs have soe strong seasons. Football is very healthy in the Peach State. See you next year! WildcatFan: Warner Robins is 100 miles south of Atlanta. People left so they could get home on a cold, wet, and rainy night. I live in Atlanta and started to think about my travel home since I had my son with me. Many Eagle fans (we brought the largest fanbase of any program during the State Championships, by far) are active in their churches and Sunday School. This is no excuse. It is simply a matter of fact.
I have a child and we are going to church. The game started at approximately 8:10 pm. I did not get home until 11:35 pm and I live less than 5 miles north of the Georgia Dome in Midtown. The roads were slick and wet. It did not make logical sense to sit in the Georgia Dome.
The Wildcats won and deserve EVERYONE’S congratulatory words. We were outplayed, outhit, outprepared, outcoached, and outclassed. On the other hand, I know that my younger brother traveled almost five hours to see our Eagles. My dad would travel another five to see Northside. They hit the road to get back home to Warner Robins. I take exception to you or anyone else questioning the Northside fanbase.
Something tells me that you are simply trying to get a reaction. I was critical of Newnan fans leaving last week. That is because they were in their own stadium. If you were in Atlanta last night with freezing rain falling, you would start to drive home and hour and a half south if your team was getting drilled 31-3 too.
I always believed that Northside would get back in it. I will go on record and tell you that I left with my tired 10 year old son when Camden County went up 31-3. My little boy, who has NEVER attended a school in Warner Robins, looked like he was about to start crying and I was tired of getting kicked around. I knew that it was raining and the temperatures were below 35. Yes, I left.
The Eagle fans who were still there were the ones who rode on the charter buses. Camden County did a great job and are a worthy State Champion. Let’s congratulate those guys and move forward. We graduated everyone last year and are VERY proud that our Eagles gave us such a fun season. I will take a 13 win season and a chance at the State Championship on any day. Win or lose, we will walk out with our heads high and continue to work to earn another State Championship next season.
It’s great to be a Northside Eagle!

So Ben, does that mean that the decade of the 90s started in 1990 or 1991? Since there is no year zero, it had to be 91, right? So the 80s ended in 1990? I will give you the century argument, but decades can have different rules. It is just more logical that the 90s start with 1990.

EAGLE NATION RISING ;;I live 5.32 hrs away and made it home 4:25 this morning with my 4 year old son and a 15 year old nephew. ONE QUESTION AND PLEASE ANSWER AND I WILL NOT SAY ANYTHING ABOUT IT AGAIN. IF THE TEAM HAD WON WOULD THE FAN BASE HAVE STAYED. MY opinion, which really doesn’t matter, but Yes that is and excuse, you guys are basically 2 hrs away, Camden 5 hrs 32 min, had to travel twice as far. We had to travel on those same slick roads. Your team deserved better. Oh by the way the reason i came back to Kingsland last night is because my son had to go to church with his grandparents in Jacksonville. So we all had the same issues as of travel, but we are talking about leaving to get home for a 2 hr trip. I would understand if you had the 5.32hr trip. Your reasoning doesn’t make sense.I passed many Camden fans and many Camden fans passed me on the way home, like i said we were on that same slick road for a much farther trip back home. I just think for a team that no one as your fans said expected to get this far this season after losing 34 Seniors, should have been applauded last night, instead walked out on.

ENR, I just can’t resist. Northside Warner Robbins was Thunderstruck! The polls don’t mean anything. Camden won and would win today to. Northside was outplyed and out coached. I thought we were in Savannah, all I saw was mistakes. Your fans are fair weather fans, you don’t walk out on your team no matter what. I can recall a couple of games with Lowndes, but a fan will stay. Camden is 330 miles south of Hotlanta, and we have church here to. By Northsides roster you had 15 seniors starting. How’s that for talking trash? Camden coaches run a great program and the kids worked so very hard Thank you, you made me happy. Time to enjoy, you Wildcats earned another ring. Reload.

GO PACK GO–Unfortunately for you, ifs don’t count in football. IF Camden County had not run a kickoff return and a punt return back for touchdowns in the first two minutes of the game, Northside might have won the game. You lost. End of story. You cannot claim state runner-up title. You cannot claim to have a better team than Northside. Everything you say is invalidated by the fact that you lost head-to-head. With Camden going back to back & defeating the top THREE teams in Region 1-AAAAA this year it is time to STFU about their weak region & give Jeff Herron props as the best coach in AAAAA, if not the state. A question for Camden fans: What was your program like before Coach Herron came to Camden? Not trying to be flippant, but this is evidence that COACHING makes the difference in being a top program instead of an also-ran. Congrats to Camden, Sandy Creek, Peach County, Buford & Wilcox County on their state titles. Look for to more football banter in August 2010.

Reeze,, I was at the game and Im just asking why did the fans leave, before the team got their trophy, and would the fans have stayed if they would have won. My point exactly about last year, glad you mentioned that, you stayed because that game was still close. Your team was going to be presented with a reward at the end of the game and no one stayed to support them, Some of your fans questioned Newnan leaving early last week, when nothing was happening after the game. when their team was losing, your team was receiving a state trophy and you left. So why can your fans question another team and its a crime to question yours, when it was so evident last night. Not saying Northside doesn’t have great fans which they do. I just think you guys failed last night. Camdens whole side noticed it last night and was asking where were the fans going, it was a trophy ceremony after the game. And your team was part of that ceremony.
