As and observer. Nix handed out a coaching clinic on player utilization (do not play them every down no matter how good they are) and do not let emotions lead you into bad decisions (the 4th down in the 2nd qrtr).

ENR as usual trying to pick a fight …when if you read up I haven’t tried rewrite the game as I see it ..I gave props to Northside…and it doesn’t matter where you get the ball..its whether your defense can stop them…You are just an excuse making fool…points off turnovers are still points scored off your defense..just like when Newnan was trying to punt and the punter screwed up and put his knee down at the 22 yard line..you still scored on our defense..I watched the whole game on the web..and I said it earlier Northside ran all over us…you are so PATHETIC..you try to pick a fight with someone that already gave Northside props..and have been respectful the whole time but WE ALL KNOW you don’t know how to be respectful…I guess no Home training

At the end of the day, Cougfan88, it would be best of you to help the fine people at Newnan with the field at Drake Stadium. There are reports of bird droppings all over the place because the Eagles made the Cougar Den our personal Eagles’ Nest. The Eagle faithful came in big numbers to support the Big Blue. At the end of the day, it is officially girls’ basketball season at Newnan High School. You boys can wash the jerseys one more time and get ready to watch the Eagles on television.
For Newnan posters to come on this site and proclaim that Newnan was the best defense in the state is a crying shame. Northside had to rush for 200+ yards easy. It has been a long time since I have seen our Eagles gash at team in the manner that we gashed Newnan tonight. Everything worked. That, CougFan88, is a testiment to Conrad Nix.
Will you see it Cougar posters? Conrad Nix is the best coach in the state of Georgia. Hands down. Newnan has not allowed teams to score at all. Northside took our foot of the gas and still almost hung 30 points on these guys.
IT IS GREAT TO BE A NORTHSIDE EAGLE!

FYI…the Atlanta paper has always refered to Northside as NSWR. The reason is there used to be a Northside in Atlanta (it eventually became a performing arts school) and has since closed. They never bothered to start calling it just Northside once the Atlanta school closed.

CougFan88: You said that Newnan scored 24 points against Northside’s defense. I was at the game. Newnan officially scored 17 points against Northside’s defense, 7 of which came after Northside has already won the game and the home side of Drake Stadium was TOTALLY empty.
You are the person that was calling me. I was on i-85 North and you are typing away about ENR. I NEVER said one negative word about Newnan all week because frankly I think that home teams usually win big games in Georgia. I have said it until I am blue in the face. The home team has the BIG advantage. Therefore, I thought that Newnan was going to win.
I was one of the few people on this board that picked Newnan over Grayson last week. Go back and read my picks. I picked against every metro Atlanta team in AAAAA last week. Ironically every team lost. All that I said this week was that the two Region 1-AAAAA teams had “tall orders” at Newnan and at Camden County.
I said that I did not believe that Newnan was going to score 20 points against Northside’s defense. Newnan did NOT score 20 points against Northside’s defense. It is not picking a fight. It is simply calling out your dishonesty.
You also wrote that I was talking trash. You will not find one post that was trash directed at Newnan. I was very nervous. I always believe in Northside. I am always going to stick with my team. However, I thought that Newnan would give a little more fight than they gave tonight.
Nic simply prepares our team better. At the end of the day, Conrad Nix and his staff are the difference. Obviously, Newnan was not prepared for Northside tonight. Briar Van Brunt has a career night. It looked to me that any Eagle could have had a career night.

Cougfan88: They ran out of hot chocolate on the visitors side tonight. I have never witnessed a more hapless fan base. I should have known. As I was driving into town along LaGrange Street, I looked down Spring and saw a series of white flags. I thought that was very strange. Why the white flags? Then, I passed Washington and Court along LaGrange. All I could see is white flags.
Then, I saw the Cougar playing great football. I saw why this team was so dangerous. Then, they failed to convert a 4th and 1 as the 1st half was ending. They still led the game 14-13. At that point I saw white flags in the body language of the players, coaches, and Cougar fanbase.
Obviously Conrad Nix, his coaching staff, and the Northside players saw the same thing. From that point, Northside outscored Newnan, 16-3 before the Cougars got some “mercy points” before and empty Drake Stadium. You guys can talk about whatever you want. I would encourage you to get out and support that girls’ basketball team over there.
When you play Northside, it is mothball time.

OK ..they should take those 7 points off the board it happened before time expired..so it doesn’t count just like the 7 points we got after you guys muffed the punt…your right the rules should state that any points scored in the last 10 seconds shouldn’t count..and anytime a point is scored off a muffed punt by Northside shouldn’t count..You are so lame…the points were still scored on your defense…except you don’t want to count it..thats fine…you are just showing how ignorant you are..I gave Nix his props too..but you are so blinded by wanting to pick a fight…you can’t see anything except your stupid stats that still can’t be verified..

Dakotah: Of course, Camden County can win the state championship. They are Camden County.
Jefferson: Camden County beat Northside in a great game last season at Wildcat Stadium in the 2nd Round of the playoffs. Even this season, Camden County coach Jeff Herron claiming that the 2008 Northside Eagles were the best team that Camden has faced, by far, in the playoffs since he has been the head coach at Camden County.
Saturday’s state championship game pits two of the three best football programs in the state of Georgia. It should be a great game. Hopefully, our Eagles will be healthy. We took some hits late in this game. We lost a couple of starters. Hopefully, they are just minor injuries.

Jefferson: Warner Robins beat Northside. If you go back to Week 10, I called it. I was very worried about our game against Warner Robins. I thought it was a “trap game” and I knew that our Eagles would be on “Upset Alert.” Unfortunately, the Demons could not get it done. They certainly had the talent to make it to the state playoffs. Most people expected the Demons to be much better than a young Northside team. For whatever reasons, that did not materialize for the Demons.
In reality, Northside lost out on what is the 1st goal for any Northside team, which is to win the City Championship. The next goal, which we have accomplished, is the win the Region Championship. After that, we want to make it to the Dome to compete for and win a State Championship.
It seems ironic that the 2nd and 3rd goal could be reached withouth winning the City Championship. I can tell you and any true Demon fan can confirm, there were State Championship (heck National Championship) caliber Warner Robins teams that simply folded after losing in the City Championship, i.e. the 1989 Warner Robins team.
It says a great deal about the character of the teams in the state championship, Northside and Camden County. They lost games and continued to remain focused towards winning the ultimate price, a State Championship.

CougFan88: Did Newnan or did Newnan not score 20 or more points against Northside’s defense. Just answer that honestly as a man (or woman). You knowing that Newnan lost 29-24 and scored 7 points off of a turnover in the red zone. That is 17 points. Is that 20 or more points? Be completely honest. Just this once.
I have not taken anything away from Newnan. They scored 10 points against Northside’s defense before Northside sealed the football game leading 29-17 and going for long 4th downs to keep the clock moving. Then Newnan score once more. That is an additional 7 points. I have a finance degree and an MBA in finance. In my world, that is 17 points.
Help us out CougFan88. By the way, take a look at the first pages of this blog. Find one post where I was talking trash as you said about Newnan and their program. Find just one.
Seriously, tell us all how many points Newnan scored agianst Northside’s defense. We all know that the points off of the turnover on the punt do not count. By the way, Northside did not score against Newnan’s defense when we got the ball after the bobbled snap to the punter. Notice, I NEVER made a comment about Northside scoring against Newnan’s defense. I could care less. I want Northside to win. I do not care how we score as long as we score more points. I will take a 2-0 win. A win is a win. Just as football season is over at Newnan.

Cougfan88: Explain to all of the posters on this site how Northside won the game before halftime with the score 20-14. I am a little lost. I was shocked that Newnan fans have already given up on their team by halftime. You guys shoulfd have seen the body language of the Cougar fanbase. They threw up the white flag and they were the home team.
Heck, Cougfan88, Peachtree Ridge had us down 10-0. Furthermore, Newnan had three straight come from behind playoff wins. I am do not know how Northside had the game won with a 20-14 lead. Newnan’s Ogletree was the top athlete on the field. If Newnan’s defense was indeed the best in the state, you kick the ball to Northside, stop the Eagles, and get the ball back and get it to #39. Then, you are tight back in the game.
I hate fanbases that give up on their kids. Newnan fans hit the exits at the 5 minute mark. The Cougar faithful just quit on Newnan. It was sad to see.

Cougfan88: Northside lost the battle at the lind of scrimmage BADLY last week. We still won! It had nothing to do with my blogs. It had everything to do with the coaches and kids on that sideline representing a long tradition of Northside sports, which I will always be a part of whether you like it or not.
I am loyal to my program. Your sensitivity on the manner is not going to change my loyalties. Northside did not have a more talented team than Newnan. Northside simply plays our system better. It is obvious that most times the team that win the battle of the line wins the game. However, anyone from Peachtree Ridge will tell you that the Lions dominated our guys last week. They hit Briar Van Brunt so hard and so many times, he was knocked out of the game in the 2nd quarter. We won with a backup QB and a backup RB.
Our Eagles find a way to win.
IT IS GREAT TO BE A NORTHSIDE EAGLE!

OK… ENR…if Northside fumbled the ball at the Newnan 2 yard line…and Newnan drove the length of the field and scored would that be points off a turnover or would that be scoring on your defense…I play fantasy football and they take points away from defense when my defense allows a score even if it was turned over in the RED ZONE..same amount of points taken away as if they had driven the whole length of the field…just saying you don’t have to count it ENR…it still is a stat in the paper that says Northside gave up 24..points just like it will say 29 points scored against Newnan’s defense even though our punter gave you the ball at the 20..just saying it doesn’t matter where you get the ball the defense still has the opportunity to stop them..

I find it hard to believe that anyone can sit and talk badly about Greg Reid. The kid is a beast. I have no idea why he is wasting his time at a bottom-feeding program like Florida State. He should have a red helmet with a black G on it. Nonetheless, our Dawgs have lost two of the best players to come out of this state in the past few years. One was Eric Berry from Creekside HS, who is a junior at Tennessee, the best safety in college football, and will be one of the top 5 or 10 players picked in the NFL Draft. The other is Greg Reid, who many consider the best defenseive player at Florida State.

Well it looks like 10-7 is playing 10-7 for the AAAAA state championship. If I were to go by the Lowndes game of each team
I would give the nod to Camden, as I think Lowndes played with more intensity against Camden than Northside. At least in the first half.
Maybe Northside is finding its offense though, so it should make for a good football game. The pressure is on Northside to prove they can over come that last and final hurdle in AAAAA. This should make for a dandy of a football game.

To Eagle Fan, Cougfan 88, & VA Newnan: All of you are making ignorant posts. Don’t get on here talking about Greg Reid because none of you know anything about the young man. He obviously impressed all of you since you are talking about him on a high school football blog a year later. You have know idea what’s between his ears. He is not and was not rude to his opponents unless you call intercepting them, running over them on the way to the endzone, or tackling them rude. And for the one of you that talks about what your son said about the Miami game is really off base. He played so well in that game including an interception, a sack of the quarterback that caused an interception and several solo tackles for losses. Since that time, he has been ACC Player of the Week 3 times and leads the nation in punt and kickoff returns as a true freshman. So stop hating on this young man who is trying to do something positive with his life. Try getting one yourselves and stop trying to live vicariously through the lives of 17, 18, & 19 year olds. It’s easy to sit on this blog and criticize, but you know what they say: Those who can do; those who can’t just hate on the ones who are doing!

CougFan88: You are acting as if you do not know football now. If Northside funbles at our own 25 and Newnan then drive the ball 25 yards and scores, you can not say that Newnan scored against Northside’s defense. I did not make the rules. Everyone knows that. If Northside fumbles at Newnan’s 20 and the Cougars drive the ball 80 yards, I would say that Newnan scored against Northside’s defense. I honestly do not know how it works from a statistical standpoint.
I know that going into the Peachtree Ridge game, EVERY publication said that Northside’s defense had not been scored upon. However, Union Grove scored 10 points and I believe some points were scored in the 1st playoff game. Nonetheless, Northside’s defense was not scored against. That is how it works CougFan88. You can cry a river to someone else.
You are changing the subject. The fact is the season is over at Newnan. The fact is your fanbase and you gave up on Newnan by halftime. The sad past is Newnan came from behind in every playoff game. Why did you believe they could not come from behind tonight. I know CougFan88. Northside takes away your will to believe. That is what we do to programs like Newnan.

I just said that the kid is one of the best football players to come out of this state. I just think it is a shame that he plays at Florida State. He is a defensive player and the FSU defense is one of the worst in the nation. The kid is a superstar.
I saw some issues taht the kid had at Grayson. All he did against our Eagles last season is run hog wild. He was the difference. Without him, Northside probably beats Lowndes County. That is speculative and does not matter. Lowndes had him and beat us 24-7 at Martin Stadium.
I am done with you CougFan88. I do not appreciate you repeatedly making up things that I have NEVER said. I NEVER said one negative work about Newnan. I just said that I thought it would be “challenging” for our Eagles to win at Newnan. I NEVER said anything bad about Reid. I just wish that he had a Georgia uniform on instead of an FSU jersey.

I saw him regroup and represent this state BIG TIME in the US Army All-American game in Texas. I also saw him play like an All-American for Florida State against both Miami and BYU, both ranking nationally. The kid can play and a wish nothing but good things for every kid from Georgia.
I wish they all played in Athens. However, I am happy to see them do well. I hope they all make it big and give back to the communities that gave so much to them.
