Eagle Fan there is a big difference in great talent and great talent with something between the ears. Greg Reid has the talent just not the part between the ears.

Greg Reid has been on the Highlight reels…He returned a punt for a touchdown this year and he intercepted some passes…but I understand College is a different game speed..But Alec is Big and getting better..Alec can’t throw the ball to himself…so no disrespect…but when you have a guy like that you have to get him the ball but our QB played scared all night..and the Norhtside defense stopped us when it counted and there was no answer for Van Brunt period

thank you DemonFan! I remember the rivelary back then before HOCO was opened. It got ugly at times. It’s good to see cross town rivals pulling for the sole representative from the same town. We gotta pull this one off. All Houston Co schools go down a classification next year. GO EAGLES!

Peach County stops Eastside on downs at the Trojan 4 with 4:14 left, then batted down an Eastside pass in the end zone on the last play of the game to take a 21-14 win the the Dome.

National attention…give me a break. Not many folks outside of two GA towns care. By the way, the real high school football is played in Texas. GA high school football is a distant 4th or 5th best in the US. Win AAAAA in Georgia and you’re the best of about 60 teams…wow! Win AAAAA in Texas and you’re the best of about 250 teams. No comparison. Watching TX football versus GA football is like watching girl’s softball vs boy’s baseball.

In middle Georgia, Northside is NHS. The only place they are NSWR is on the ajc’s blogs. They are Northside with no suffix. Where is ENR?

Congrats, Sandy Creek Patriots. That should be a great game next weekend against Clarke Central. The Griffin-SC game was hard to watch as a Bears’ fan tonight. Soooo many weird and costly mistakes. It was like watching a different team. What’s up with all the deep ball?? Haha! To everyone in the finals – Have fun in the dome next weekend. I’ll be getting my mind prepared for what I’m sure will be a fantastic lower-tiered bowl game for UGA in late December……..man, maybe next year (maybe not).

Unbelievable accomplishment by Newnan to make it to semi-finals after having to replace all 11 offensive starters.
Of course it takes real football knowledge to recognize that. Something that obviously is not present on this blog. At least not from the northside posters. Lots of classless posts by them. Hope Camden County blows them out.

Ill put Georgia’s Friday Night Lights up agaisnt any other state. If Texas is so great why does the Big 12 suck so bad. If they 250 teams from the highest class to pick 20 players every year and they dont fill every team in the Big 12 with studs then something is wrong.

Wow Eagle Fan, the Ogletrees are not the entire Newnan team. Alec did basically everything he could to win the game… can’t really blame him on defense when none of the defensive ends contained the QB and none of the linebackers made tackles. He had a touchdown and two long catches near the end of the game, so I’d hardly say NWR “shut him down.” He will a bigger impact in college than anyone who played in that game… fact.

You can make all the travel excuses you want but leaving Camden in 3AAAAA is just plain wrong……besides they pay those Savannah schools to give up their homes games so Camden really only has a couple of away games each year. But then the excuse becomes it’s not just about football but the other sports. What makes Camden so much more special than Bainbridge and TCC who’ll have to travel over 2 hours to play the Warner Robins/Macon schools much farther than Camden. It would have made more sense for the Savannah school’s to play 4-AAAA and get in the region with Brunswick and the other schools which are closer. Their must be a lot of money changing hands between Camden, the GHSA and the Savannah Administrators for selling out the Savannah kids to the benefit of Camden county

Congratulations to Clarke Central, Rockdale County, and Colquit County. This should be a lesson to a lot of teams who worry so much during the season about where they are ranked in the polls. Neither of these teams was ranked ranked high in the top 10 or in the top 10 at all and look at the run they made in the playoffs, with Colquit and Clarke Central having a chance to win it all. Also congrats to Sandy Creek, I never would have “thunk it”. and congrats to Northside Warner Robbins who have shown they can play with the best in AAAAA.

Colquitt good game. Hard fought. #4 is the real deal. Great athlete. I expected to see a better passing game, even in the rain. Seems that you guy’s had 2 options #4 and #22. The QB was not mobile at all. He became a liability against a fast pressing defense. Not many turnovers, the game became a game of field position. Your D was stout, seems like they were programed to stop #32, had a lot of problems trying to control #15. That #93 was grown young man. Monster. The problem with putting 8 men in the block, is once the back breaks into the the second level, you will have problems. Camdens game plan never changed, run, run, run, run some more. On that 76 yard run, the Packers D looked gassed. I enjoyed the game, a lot of talent on the field for both teams. I see great things for Colquitt. Camden’s secondary has come a long way since the beginning of the season, the secondary seemed to be a liability earlier, but they have grown up. Again Packers well done. You guy’s brought a lot of fans as well, good showing.

Just got home from the Gainesville/ Flowery Branch game, well worth the price of admission. The game itself was a story of two different halves. In the first half, FB controlled the tempo and dominated the line of scrimmage. Gainesville came out at the start of the second half and Sims returned the opening kickoff 99 yards to trim the lead to 14-7. FB then scored on a TD run by Cross. After that defense controlled the game until late in the third quarter when Sims broke a long run and scored 3 plays later on a QB sneak from the 1. Both teams traded possessions until about the 6:00 mark when Gainesville pinned FB inside the 5. FB then had to punt from inside their 10, the snap was high, and Gainesville block the punt for a TD (not a safety, Carvell). After FB got the ball back, they ran 7 plays and had to punt. Gainesville got possession with about 2:00 left, and marched down the field, where Sims threw a TD pass to TJ Jones with 18 seconds left for the win. Personally, I think that FB played not to lose in the second half, especially at the beginning of the fourth quarter. In my opinion, once FB fell behind, they had lost their rhythm that they had in the first half. If FB had played the same in the second half that they plyed in the first, they would have won the game. All I can say, is that the AAA state champs would have come from 7AAA either way.

With regards to Texas football, yes they are the best; however, Georgia has the winningest high school football program of all time in Valdosta–in a state that definitely ranks in the top five when it comes to high school football. Furthermore, national polls have consistently ranked Northside and Camden County in the top 25 over the past decade. This game does deserve national attention. While we’re at it, why the heck are you posting about Texas football on a Georgia football blog? Are you that desperate for a fight?

Country Cooking…..: Long time HS football fans know about the Gladiators. Billy Henderson, one of the best HS coaches of all time, beat Valdosta (& Buck Belue) in 1977, beat Tift County in 1979. I guess with Henderson’s retirement & staying in AAAA when AAAAA was created kind of removed Clarke from the mainstream. Good to see them make it back to the Dome. With the population growth in Oconee County, has that affected Clarke & Cedar Shoals or the private schools in Athens affected CC & CS more?

Looks like Camden is finding out what the regular season in 1-AAAAA is like. Great game again this week against Colquitt. Congrats to both schools. NSWR looked the best this week of several games I have seen this year. Should be another good one next week. P.S. Cougar fans, the coach could care less if you scored twice at the end of the game. He was simply playing the odds to win the game. Be proud of your excellent team, they just were not invincable as many of you beleived.

I have a question. Shouldn’t NSWR be Middle Ga? I for one don’t consider them to be South Ga. Just my thought!! I was dissappointed in the refs tonight. they blew and missed a lot of calls!! Good game Colquitt!! I will say that I thought Lowdnes fans were much more mature than Colquitt!! I think you need to at least have a little more success in the playoffs before you run your mouth at the games. Maybe it was just the ones I was sitting by but they sure were mouthy!!

In response to earlier comment on colquit traveling. Yes they did travel a great distance of miles. But remember Camden played last week all the way up at North Gwinnet. The region situation is it is just to far for Camden to travel during week to play all minor sports, baseball.tennis, golf, wrestling, girls vollyball, etc. Of course, my brother here for Camden game from South Carolina. He says they have 16 team playoff with the biggest schools based on attendance statewide not based on any region winners. Seems like something Ga could look at.

Yes, it matters when Camden doesn’t have to play starter’s for a whole game which climate’s the possiblity of injury. They are guaranteed at least two home playoff games each year because of the region they play in it’s a HUGH advantage, and any Camden fan that says it isn’t is lying.
