There will be gridlock in Hall County friday night, Gainesville and Flowery Branch are only about 10 miles apart, there won’t be any room to move in City Park friday for that game. It should be a good game, but Gainesville wins 39-24

Camden Saint; this should be a great game regardless of who win; the Packers can now get the respect it deserves of being back on top of the elite in our region classification & going this far when people wrote us off early; but I am greatful to see that comment that others are bashing each other over something that should be cherish from both team because their is no loser on either team and that is what everyone has forgot about; so shame on Colquitt Fans and Camden Fans for bad comments that is a disgrace for both teams. THanks

Colquitt County Packers Fan – I am very happy to see someone from your team not bashing. You are so right about being a no losers. If you have made it this far, you have to be good. Hope the game goes well and the weather holds off.

Another Friday night under the lights at Drake Stadium! We welcome the Eagle Nation from NSWR and hope everyone arrives and leaves safely. Plenty of seating as the endzone bleachers are in place are ready to accomodate the fans. Could be as many as 8,000+ to view this battle. Hope to see ya there!
I read where the NSWR team was frustrated by PeaRidge stopping their running game. Well, that will likely be repeated this Friday – at least we hope so! Oh, and the ‘N’ on the field does not, never did and never will stand for ‘Northside’, but NEWNAN!!
To Colquitt fans, the very best of good luck against Camden. Mind you, we would love to meet Camden once again and atone for our losses to them, but we’ll play with whomever makes it to the Dome.
Finally, Go Griffin! As former rivals, we in Newnan would like to see you succeed (just not against us necessarily).

Jax Packer fan. Just came from Camden High Athletic office, there are still tickets left, they will also have some at the gate. But you need to get there early for seats. They are expecting a full house.

Buford was given 500 tickets for pre-game sales. I expect about 700 people from Buford to attend the game. There should be plenty of space for anyone wanting to see this game.

Good post Courgar Dan……… Congrats to the Cougars and the Eagles this year …I don’t think anyone thought either team would make it this far in 2009…I really thought the Cougars would’nt make it past Valdosta…….I was wrong and here we are waiting for tommorrow night.. It’s good that the Eagles are still playing ball…With 3 straight 15 game seasons , Last season after the loss to Camden in the second round Eagle fans were seen aimlessly walking the streets of Warner Robins looking for a Football game the following couple Fridays after… …The Ridge game was a wake up call for the Eagles , Masteller more than prove himself against the Ridge and I think the Cougar defense will see more of him. It’s win or go home and I have watched Nix coach for many years , this is the time of year when we will all see a little different offense from the Eagles……So good luck tommorrow CougarDan…….Saturday morning the N a drake might just be trimmed in Orange and white.

Newnan respects Northside and Coach Nix, so even if you do win..the fans on both sides are the most respectful of any in this area….So No I don’t beleive the N at Drake Stadium will be trimmed in Orange and White…why stoop to lower levels of ignorant fans of a different ERA…

Cougar Dan… I agree with you go Griffin..I remember those games against Griffin in the late 70’s,80’s, they were always a brutal rival…I know classification has more to do with enrollment at a school..but I don’t see why this rivalry couldn’t still be scheduled it would a great test for both coaches..to teach their teams how to play in a hostile environment..and no, there would be no trash talking because both teams know there is some serious talent on both teams…
Go Cougars and Go Griffin..Western GA… Loves you Both..

The coin toss to determine home team has got to go. Not only is it “sissified” but it is out of date and pathetic, in such a hard-hitting sport as football. It should be used only as the final option in a tie-breaker. Records and stats should determine home team first, then if absolutely necessary go to a coin toss. That is just too arbitrary, just like in the NFL OT games where they use the coin toss. Many teams lose never having even touched the ball. Only “wimps” settle things this way !!

Reclassification Article

December 3rd, 2009
1:49 pm

From the reclassification article. “If you ask schools that have 1,700 or 1,800 students to play against schools that have 3,000 or more, it’s really unfair,” Swearngin said.” What a joke. In reverse, Camden County has been allowed to play in a AAA region for years and benefit from routing each school in their so-called AAAAA region. This allows to rest and reduce injuries for front-line players, groom underclassmen for future years (can’t beat game experience) and play nearly all their playoff games at home because of the automatic 1 seed. What coach wouldn’t kill for a situation like this. The GHSA playoff system is such a joke by providing the home team with such an advantage. Play neutral fields throughout the playoffs and crown a true state champion.

WAQ

I tried to explain this advantage to the Camden supports all week and finally got a few (the real football minds) to admit to this advantage. Herron is a great coach but what other great coach would not kill for this job with kind of advantage. To have reclassification makes no sense if this can continue to happen. Where is the competitive spirit of having like enrollment schools competing against each other.

reclassification a joke

December 3rd, 2009
2:19 pm

again camden is placed in a weak region. so what is going to happen for the next two years? #1 camden goes undefeated in there region. #2 no injuries to starters. #3 first round seed for the next two years. #4 home filed advantage.#5 no traveling until maybe the semi finals. all of the other regions had big changes except for them and region #1. what were they thinking.

reclassification a joke -I agree with you I am a Camden fan but was really hoping for them to be put in region 1… Even if it was just for football but I guess someone who knows better than us decided it wasn’t a good thing!

cchswildcat86 -I think you have the perfect solution! If all these teams played in there classification they would be forced to rethink what to do with Camden!

Tipp Smooth

Answer this one last time, when Camden play out region 3, which during the playoffs most of the time, what is the results? It doesn’t matter the foe, Lowndes, Parkview, Newnan, Pridge, Valdosta, Northside, Colquitt, Tift, Grayson, bottom line is to win a Championship, you must play out of your region. Defeat Camden if you can, and stop coming up with the same lame excuse. Weak schedule.

Tipp Smooth- Love Camden attend every game but I know I would much rather go to a game against Valdosta, Lowndes, Colquitt than games against Beach, Groves or Johnson. Them being in region 1 is more of a selfish wish for me personally than anything else, just to see better quality games! Now as for this season I said before that I have been watching this team for a while now and don’t remember a season where they are more improved from game 1 to game 13.

I think you guys are missing the big picture. We are talking about high school students here, not college or professional players. It was be very hard for Camden to play high school sports games while in region 1, because of the distance between schools. Do you really want your kid to come home after midnight after a football game???? Or better yet what about the freshman and JV teams, which play games during the week??? Could you image a high school student going to bed after midnight on a Thurs and having to get up the next morning for school, because of an away football game? That wouldn’t be fair to the kids. Remember these are STUDENT-athletics we are talking about!

Me being a Camden fan would love to see Camden play in a more competitive region, but because of the location of Camden I don’t think that would be feasible right now. I know for a fact, Coach Herron has been trying to play good teams in our non-region games. He was trying to play Hoover while the current Colquitt head coach was there, but he didn’t want any part of Camden. Camden has never been afraid of competition since Herron became head coach. We don’t make the schedule; we just play who’s ever on it!

Cats24 – I totally agree with you but like I said just for my own selfish reason , of watching better quality games I wish could work. I do know that it is more of a possibility in football than other sports. I have 2 sons that play other sports ( wrestling, and baseball) And you are correct I would not want them coming home that late during the week. As for the freshman and jv teams the don’t really play a region 3 schedule for the most part anyway do they?

alright camden has a weak region, we hear that all the time, and so what if you say its the only reason we win, and we wouldnt win without the region. it really doesnt bother me becuase at the end of the day can your team beat ours in the playoffs?

talking junk on a blog aint gonna get the regions changed. and no duh it helps us, no one argues that it doesnt. but all yall do is whine because all we do is keep winning.
