Good question, David Grantham… I’d like to know too. Valdosta has 20-some state championships, NSWR has what, two? So I hardly think of the Eagles as the second-best football school in state playoff history, I doubt anyone does except that insufferable guy, you know the one.
You’d think there would be a lot of schools bunched together at positions 2-10. Schools like Griffin, Lincoln Co., Clarke Central (including Athens High), Colquitt Co. (including Moultrie High), Thomasville, Warner Robins, etc. come to mind. Lowndes and Camden have three decades or so (I think) of powerhouse status, that should be long enough for each to have a lot of playoff wins.

Colquitt just moved down the field and got a field goal to go up 23-10 over Lassiter, then they intercepted Lassiter and took it in for a TD. Missed the 2-pt conversion, it’s now Colquitt 29, Lassiter 10.
The Lassiter quarterback was outstanding on their first drive, when they went down to the Packer 4-yard line entirely on pass plays, but stalled and had to kick the FG. However, since then, CCHS has shown a lot of assertiveness on their defensive line, and a lot of speed back in the safeties. They’ve covered the receivers long enough for the pressure to get to the QB, and the result has been a couple sacks, a couple interceptions, and a 19-point lead. CCHS just looks deeper in athletes.
