GrayRam: I am not an expert. The State Champions Club is an exclusive group of programs. Peachtree Ridge is one of the few metro Atlanta programs that are a part of that exclusive group. Of course, Northside is a part of that group. :-) We all know that Grayson is not a part of that group.

You used the weak excuse that Grayson is a new school. I am simply pointing out that Peachtree Ridge played its first football season in 2003. The Lions have reached two State Championship games and won 2.

Stop all of the pity poor Grayson chatter. The new school excuse is mute because Peachtree Ridge has already played in two state championship games, winning one. How can you then say that Grayson has not had the same opportunity to win big games. The truth is Grayson has one signature win in your program’s history. No excuses!

The bandwagon that you are riding upon GrayRam is about to get the wheels knocked off. In the meantime, as you are so fascinated with Northside vs. Peachtree Ridge (showing that you are looking ahead), Newnan is coming to town. All I can say is you were forewarned. If Newnan can violate Northside at McConnell-Talbert, what makes you think that Newnan is unable to violate Grayson? I am a little lost.

Only one team has embarassed Northside at the MAC in about 15 years. That team is Newnan. Nonetheless, you are blogging away about Peachtree Ridge. Interesting. :-)

Suwanee 0wnz………This is the quarters , all the BS is over , the real teams are on the field’s tonight…..The Northside /Newnan game you’re talking about was true …..Northside got beat up badly that night…I was there , some say the Eagles were looking past Newnan , I said Newnan was the best team that night..I agree this winning streak BS means nothing , a loss is a loss……The game tonight , Will Northside put up over 21 ?……Don’t think so , You should ask how much will the Lions put up?…….No secret , Northside’s defense has won the majority of our games and the trend will probably continue tonight…..You state that most of Northside’s wins come from missed field goals. How about a sound defense?……Everytime I see this statement from a person on this blog , I know they don;t know anything about football…..You ever wonder why these teams had to kick field goals in the first place? ….Maybe not enough 3rd down conversions ,or why didn’t they just put it in the endzone?……Nothing better than stopping a drive on 3rd down and forcing the opponents offense to kick a field goal . If you’ve ever played the game ,you would know this….. But much respect for Pridge ,good coaching and a good program…..Suwanee 0wnz , …Tough task for the Lions tonight at the MAC , so many here back in town for the holidays and the game ,it looks as if everyone’s having a family reunion ,The Mac will be rocking tonight ….It will be a tight contest , whoever makes the least mistakes wins.

I know it may not mean much i just thought it to be very interesting,,North Gwinnettes schedule. Brookwood 6-6, SouthForsyth 1-9, Norcross, 5-5, Chattahoochee,4-6, Northview, 1-9, North Forsyth, 7-4, Duluth, 1-9, PeachtreeRidge, 10-2, Prattville, 10-2, Mill Creek, 5-5. Combind record 51-57.(Pratville has lost to every team on its schedule with a winning record every team they played with the exception of North Gwinnette and a team from New Jersy has a losing record well below 500 football). You just dont hear about that. Camdens schedule Grayson, 12-0, First Coast Fla,6-4, Hoover, 11-1, Windsor Forest, 6-5, Beach, 3-7, Groves, 1-9, Johnson, 4-6, Jenkins, 4-7, Savannah, 1-9, Bradwell, 6-5. Combined record 54-53, In todays rivals 100.When tonights game against North Gwinnette kick off. Camden would have played 4 teams in the top 100 in todays poll. Grayson,Lowndes,Hoover, and North Gwinnett are currently ranked. What school has played four teams ranked today in the top 100. Yes our region is very weak, but on the games we have control of i think we play very stiff competition. Not that it means any thing for tonights games i just thouht it to be very interesting.

Jefferson and AARegion6Fan: I do not mean debate you guys. However, local officials do not officiate the State playoff games. The officials come from another part of the state during all playoff games. There is no more homecooking at the state playoff games at high schools and local communities than there are at the Georgia Dome.

The Georgia Dome is not about impartial officials. It is about money for the GHSA. It is only about money. Any other explanation is a blatant lie. The attendance at the Georgia Dome signficantly exceeds what the GHSA would get at local community stadiums.

I hate it. I do believe it will grow over the years and become a great tradition in Georgia. At the end of the day, it is all about money. If 50,000 people purchase tickets to the State Championship games at the Georgia Dome (it will be more), the GHSA has already significantly outsold what they get from selling tickets at local stadiums.

Let’s be honest here ENR, NSWR has never been a factor in 5A football, and I doubt they will be in the Championship game this year, either. We both know that NSWR was in 5A before, but I don’t see any championships for NSWR that time either. It is probably a good decision to move back to 4A where you guys can be a big fish in a small pond.

It must suck to see a brand new school like Peachtree Ridge make more of an impact than NSWR at the highest level of football in Georgia.

To be honest PTR benefits from their demographics. They seem to attract Falcons players and coaches into their district and that certainly has vaulted them into the upper echelons of 5A football quickly. Cameron Heyward was the kid of Ironhead Heyward, that same year the kicker was Butler. Even when Ironhead could no longer see, he loved to go to Cameron’s games. I’ll leave it to you to figure out which players on this year’s team might be offspring of Falcon players and coaches.

Fortunately, you should be able to enjoy basketball soon.

Wildcat Fan: Wait a minute. Don’t begin to ask these Atlanta posters to justify their own weak schedules. They want to talk about the few weak teams that Camden County faces. Camden plays anyone who will play. Anyone suggesting that Camden dodges competition is insane. The Wildcats are arguably the best program in the state of Georgia.

North Gwinnett has played losing team after losing team. Prattville, Alabama is beyond suspect. Peachtree Ridge lost 51-17 to a second round team. The frauds of metro Atlanta are going to be exposed tonight.

Anyone notice the silence from the AJC staff.

Can anyone from the AJC or GHSF Daily tell me why the only second round game in the state which remained the same was the Region 3-AAAAA, #1 seed versus the Region 1-AAAAA, #2 seed? Every other pairing in the state of Georgia changed compared to last season’s playoff brackets. However, the only two South Georgia regions have to play one another. Please explain to me. I am a small town Georgia boy. I do not understand. :-)

That is interesting ,though Camden lost to two of those teams. I think everyone in Gwinnett realizes Camden is quite a bit better now than when that happened. Camden is a great team and it would certainly not be a surprise anytime they win. North Gwinnett is also a really good team and it should be a great game.

In the “Big Boy” category (that’s AAAAA BTW) there’s only one reason Todd Holcomb and Chip Saye picked NSWR to win in their GHSF Daily. That’s called an “appeasement pick”. They went with 3 other North GA teams in that classification and you just know it was killing them to have to pick NSWR. They also knew if they went with all four North Ga teams they would be considered biased and called “homer” boys. There’s no other logical reason for it. How do you pick NG over Camden, Grayson over Newnan, and Lassiter over Colquitt and do it logically without showing your partiality to the North GA teams? The one that really surprises is NG over Camden ! Those 2 boys need to get out more often. Get out from behind their computers.

SuwaneeOwns: Tell me how many State Championships that Grayson has played in. Then tell me how many AAAAA State Championships Northside has played in. History shows that Northside played in the second AAAAA State Championship game ever played. Perhaps, you can provide some more comprehensive insight.

Northside’s history in AAAAA:
2000: Northside, 2nd Round, lost. at East Coweta, 7-14
2001: Northside, Runner-Up, lost Parkview, 7-12
2002: Northside, Quarterfinals, lost at Parkview 19-21
2003: Northside, 2nd Round, lost Newnan, 0-24
2008: Northside, 2nd Round, lost at Camden County 20-28

2000: Grayson, ?
2001: Grayson, ?
2002: Grayson, ?
2003: Grayson, Non-factor in small school classification
2004: Grayson, Non-factor in small school classification
2005: Grayson, ?
2006: Grayson, lost 2nd Rd., at Norcorss, 21-27 – next game Norcross losses to Warner Robins
2007: Grayson, lost Quarterfinals, at Camden County, 7-22
2009: Grayson, lost Semifinals, at Peachtree Ridge, 10-13

Peachtree Ridge
2006 State Co-Champions
2007: Peachtree Ridge, lost 2nd Round at Roswell, 20-23
2008: Peachtree Ridge, State Runner-Up, l. Camden County, 14-21

You are correct. Northside’s state playoff resume as a AAAAA team is signficantly different than Grayson or Peachtree Ridge. You sound like an idiot! Northside has the second most playoff wins of any program in the history of Georgia High School football. Only Valdosta high school has more wins. AAAA was the top classification and we played there long before the ground was broken at PEachtree Ridge or Grayson.

We will talk at the MAC tonight, partner! Enjoy. The Eagle Nation sure will. :-)

Suwanee 0wnz…….Are you on Drugs?….Northside may not have come home with the crown in AAAAA ,but that was due to 2 very good Parkview teams… One for example .In 2001 Parkview was #6 in the Nation and Northside was # 10 in the Nation prior to the 2001 championship game , a hard fought battle that the crush won 12 – 7 …. Suwanee 0wnz……Northside have battled and won against the best in Georgia in 4A and in 5A 12 years and running…..and will continue ,while most become mediocre.

Not tyring to dog teams out or nothing just wanted to make a fact known. Yall dog on Graysin alot and dont know antything about us or how we play… yall have never came and watched us play. your sources are probably someone who dont know nothing about football… but anyways i’m a manager for the team and i know how things go behind and on the field…

every week yall say the same thing about Grayson and every week we prove yall wrong.. for once give us some credit.. maybe we actually belong in state this year.. so what we never made it yet but there are things that can always change.. we work just as hard as everybody else but get less respect…

i kno its Newnan… but for real stop always trying to put a good team down.. we made it this far so drop it… you say we dont belong here well if we didnt then why are we stiill in the play-offs. yall dogged the mess out of us about the Roswell game and once again we showed yall up.. We will work hard for this game like any other game.. the only difference we actually working for it and all yall think it’s just going to fall in your hands well think again…

Its interesting the coach is a great coach for going on 4th down three times in the long winning drive, yet he was an idiot when he tried the same thing against Grayson with the same score??? Camden did not take a knee…..at the end of the game, they ran the ball and were stopped. I give Newnan the advantage with stopping our offensive attack they are quick to the outside. I believe the game will come down to special teams. Look for a kickoff or punt return td from grayson. I also think we have an advantage tonight with our place kicker austin clark

cant believe the whinning about penalty calls(NG-Pridge)The deal is if you dont get youself in a position for a call to determine the outcome –it won’t.By the way a few calls were missed and basically evened out. That game was close–very close.

ENR-great passion—I cant comment on NSWR copetition any more than you can on Pridge other than the Lowndes common opponent, but even that one each team had different scenarios —and the 51-17 is not an accurate assessment as to Pridge’s season—-nor Lowndes. All week I have beeen constant in just saying don’t take the Lions lightly, our biggest concern is which Pridge team shows up and that could translate into a close Lion win (yes it is possible) or abeatdown if they turn it over 3-6 times.

Pridge program is off to a great start–will take years to build a resume, but with the metro area splitting every 5 years the days of programs doing what some—a few south Ga schools have done over the years may not be possible for a metro school. That’s not an excuse it is reality of these days.Thats just the way it will be—just like some southerns school have to do all the traveling–just got to work with it. We are proud of two championships games, one championship, and one region title in such a short time.and here we are again–unexpectantly making a deep run ino the playoffs again.

Winning is important to Camden’s success however without respect, class and heart it means nothing! You know, there are numbers and statistics and they can all be manipulated to say whatever you want them to. For some reason ENR is down on Grayson for something a NG supporter said. It made me start wondering about some of those numbers he talks about with such pride. I believe it has been said that until you win the title, you haven’t done anything. ENR presented these numbers in support of his argument that NSWR is so much better than Grayson. In 5A, NSWR went to the final one time and lost. Other than that one game, which by his own words doesn’t mean anything, Grayson has performed better over the same period of time in the 5A (top classification again by his own words) that has NSWR and again based on that history over the same period of time is progressing better than NSWR.

I am *NOT* down on NSWR as I think they are a very good team from what I read about them. I just find it interesting that someone that has never played our team is so vehement about how pathetic we are since we have performed almost identically the same over the same time period and have in fact performed better than NSWR over the first 10 years of our life as a school as compared to NSWR’s first ten years. I also have learned that in high school sports, it is not wise to attempt to guarantee outcomes.

It is also interesting that some folks appear to be unable to separate the suportors and their opinions from the football teams. What I think and how I feel is *not* how the team thinks and feels. This is just entertainment jawing with other people about a high school football game!

MY opinion is that the 8 best teams have made it this far. I will be shocked if any game is a blow-out although anything can happen. I am proud that Grayson is hanging in there and playing hard. I expect tonight’s game to be a hard fought game. I think Grayson will win against a strong Newnan team. I hope all of the games are good and no one is injured.

It may be late but I hope to see you all here later tonight!

Grayram. I really wish Grayson would play 4- AAAA so that you could face a typical statesboro team, or Ware County. Play Carver and see if it’s not the toughest game you’ve played. Just look at the Division 1 signees that they have had the past 3 years. Big time players come from Carver. Houston County just had a Defensive end sign at Purdue last year. They always have athletes just have had a lack of quality coaching.

Playing against Carver in Columbus is a much tougher game than playing against Dacula, Birkmar, or Meadowcreek. I would say the same for at typical Tift County team or Coffe County team that was just in the Round before the dome 3 years ago. Teams like Carver recruits players from around the county much like Buford or Greater Atlanta Christian(that stole Caleb King from another Gwinnett program).

And on me telling players that there is no pressure to win as a coach. I will always preach that. The pressure is at practice. The game is the easy part. If you practice perfection, the game has no choice but to be perfect. You win because what you practice becomes automatic and nobody can beat perfect practice unless they practice better than you. If you put the pressure on game day, you lose. Therefore there is no pressure to win. The game is therefore a cruise control version of what you do at practice. Practice perfection. Strive to do better at practice, and you will perform perfection easily in the game.

That is why Grayson lost in the title game against a team that practices perfection(Camden). You play(Grayson) in the second best region, in football, in the state. Don’t feel so bad about it. Don’t feel bad that Griffin, Westside, Baldwin County, Carver, or Peach County, and other teams would destroy atleast half of your region since you want to mention us playing 4-AAAA. Once again you only put up 10 against a rebuilding Warner Robins High School team that only gained 40 yrds on your defense. Lowndes put up 31, Colquit put up 17, we put up 20. One must assume that your region is worse than those three programs this year, because you only put up 10pts against a team that “didn’t even make the playoffs.” You might even assume that WRHS is better than half of your region because they matchup closer against you than they did.

Newnan, please do the dirty work so we can play a proven team. Tired of the Brookwoods wantabees Grayson (we go to title games and lose). Parkview is the only team that matters in that region. They win title games. Valdosta, Lowndes, Warner Robins, Tift, Northside all state champions. Your region has Parkview. Have a nice day, Grayram and lose to Newnan.

NHS vs. Newnan next week. It should be a good game.

Brickwall,

I think you have combined several Gwinnett teams into one somehow. Grayson lost to PTRidge in the semifinals last year. PTR then lost to Camdem in the finals. Grayson beat Camdem in the first game of this year.

I can’t speak for others, but at least some of us recognize that other classifications and areas produce both great teams and great players. I think if you go back and read blogs from all year, you will find that it is mostly middle and south GA bloggers that talk about 5A being the premier classification.

I think it is funny that mid/south GA bloggers don’t think the metro teans are any good. I think if we all walked a mile in our shoes/played a season on our teams, we would recognize that we all have issues to deal with. Lowndes/Valdosta and Warner Robbins schools have been talking about the possibility of new schoold and how the redistricting will affect them. Grayson has been open 10 years this year and is now in the 6th season of 5A. We have already been redistricted once and will lose more next year as the full effect of the plan takes hold. I’m not complaining just pointing out that metro schools go through this all the time. It is very difficult to build a program and sustain it when this goes on as much as it does.

Here’s a thought. How cool would it be to take the semi final participants from all classifications and put them into a tournament? Wow! Think about the football that would be played.

Stephenson marched up and down the field all night long agaiinst Colquit. The ONLY reason Colquit won was because of kickoff returns (75,80,80) by no. 4 on Colquit’s team and failure to make adjustments on Stephenson’s coach’s part.
