I just watched the CC vs Lassiter game on the internet. Very solid team,#4,#22, and #23 are to me their best players. A lot of team spead. Not as fast as Camden as of overall team spead. They scored 29 points off of 5 TOs. Thats what you do with TOs is score points. Lassiter was probably the slowest team that i ever saw at any level. No defense at all 25.5 points allowed a game. CC has a solid offense, but the defense is the strength of the team. It should make for a very good game. Camden has seen the spread in three games so far this year. Hoover, First Coast Fla, and North Gwinnett. So they should be some what ready.

Re: cougarfan

it is disappointing to me to read that you think I cast Northside in a negative light. All I have done is been open about whoi am and defended my character when it has been impuned. I have nit responded with slander or vulgarity I answer questions when they are posed and I do so with civilty.

I make points about discussions and I try to support them without denegrating others who may disagree.

Colquitt Co fans….the stadium at Camden seats 8200 (5000 home and 3200vistors. This according to Athletic Director office. Very nice facility. Lowndes sent tickets back they did not sell and then those buying at the gate created over crowding. Many fans were sitting on steps. Plan on long delay leaving game.

Thanks Reeze. That means a lot. If though the result wasn’t what I wanted, that was an amazing game. If we played ten of those, they’d probably be 5/5 tie in results.

96 Bear, you are correct that Sandy Creek will need extra bleachers, however, Eric Berry played at Creekside not SC. That being said, Our Bears have been pretty successful in Tyrone so far, so the travel doesn’t worry me too much. I just want our boys to break the final 4 curse!! So let’s go Bears and take care of business and get us a state championship!!

North vs South…East vs West…The only people that really care are the ones that live and die with HS football. Probably the only thing that they can associate with because of the inferiority complex they have against the “north”.

The Region 1 folks SHOULD feel special because they’ve been in bed (figuratively) with the GHSA for YEARS. Look at the history. The phrase “the squeaky wheel gets the grease” is as real as the “gnat line” that the south likes to refer to. These guys get what they want from the GHSA. They’ll do anything they can to get and keep the upper hand with the assistance of the GHSA. The good ole boy network is in high gear when the GHSA and Region 1 hook up.

I have no misconceptions about the strength of HS football that comes out of the south, but that is the way it is. Whereas the north has gone through a population transformation which in turn has created many new schools to open, the south pretty much stays the course year in and year out. Less change and turnover should, in reality, help the south maintain consistency.

Congrats and good luck to all of the teams that are left. Whether north, east, south or west, the kids on the field are the ones who determine which adults get to thump their chests to claim region superiority. Get a life guys.. reliving your glory days through HS football is pitiful and embarrassing

CougarDan, RE: stadium in Newnan Go to the Macon Telegraph, news section, about the coin flip and read the post by “uahollem”. It is very disparaging and should be of concern by those of us planning on making the trip. Since he or she has been there, would their assessment be true or not? Your opinion please. Disparaging minds would like to know, before we go, for preparations sake. If anyone else there has an opinion, chime in please. Maybe someone from another team who has visited there this year.

This why they play the games

After the GHSA realigns I hope I don’t have to read comment after comment about how great Northside WR conquered AAAAA. Playing one classification up doesn’t make your school a man among boys. You can lose down there, too. If you do go down to AAAA as AAAAA champs, you’ll still have to prove it again next year.

Hey Ron here is the skinny on Lovett
Watch #22 in the flat. He’ll bait the QB alot, but make no mistake he reads the ball well. Gotta make quick reads on him. The whole team lacks any speed. #3 (he wore #11 in our game) and # 23 are their only real threat at speed they have. #6 will blitz 4 out of 5 plays, because #86 gets alot of double teams. Keep someone one #6 he is very agressive, should take advantage of their schemes. On most of the pass plays #14 will hold the receivers and use a sling shot effect to get the receiver clear from the ball. Every time we got past the D it was over. Unless their corners or saftey got a good angle and just enough to push us out after really long gains. Flags, drops and 2 turnovers inside our own 30 were the only things that slowed us down. Even then if we had a kicker we would be playing you instead of them. Good luck to you. I hope you kick some richie rich butt…..

Ron #86 is NG and #6 is a sort of hybrid DE, think Demarcus Ware of Dallas, but nowhere near that kind of talent. He is very agressive, but also well coached, so he rarely over shoots the play.

The last four left in each class did not get there because they are a bad team. SOme might have had better breaks some have better coaches, some have better players, but it’s suit up 22 and play with all your heart for 48 minutes that gets you there. Looks like some classics this weekend, Offense vs Defense; Defense vs Offence .. but it all comes down to one thing .. How bad do you want it.

Why they play the game … good point you have to prove it on the field each year. Many in the state believe the best overall team in the state is from AAA. But we’ll never know. Good luck to the 16 that remain.

inthatrenches: Doubtful for Friday night, but a strong possibility for the finals. As far as my wife, no way in h@$$ would she pull for NSWR. She got her satisfaction during the regular season.
That Guy: If Region 1 was “still in bed with the GHSA”, don’t you think the finals would still be at home sites? The influence of Jim Hughes, Nick Hyder & others for years kept the finals at home stadiums.

Loud fan, you are correct . We don’t need to brag or boast as Newnan has not won anything yet. We just have an opportunity. Personally I have been on this blog for a couple of years being battered and bruised by our south Ga folks and others who say we are a product of a weak region. I guess a strong team can come out of a weak region. Right?

TNGADAWG, you don’t to worry about security at Newnan’s Drake stadium. In 30 years of attending games there, never heard one incident. One of the nicest communities you could ever visit. If you get there early you will find plenty of free parking. Late arrivals may have to walk a bit but you will be safe.

Honestly, CougarDad, I do not want one day of Newnan. I would have preferred a metro Atlanta program. I am very, very happy that everyone from outside of the metro Atlanta area performed so well. It will be interesting to see if the programs remaining receive the attention that programs like North Gwinnett and Lassiter were receiving.

I am a little afraid of Newnan. The Cougars are scary good and we know it at Northside. We learn valuable lessons and the Cougars violated us at the MAC. I hope we can get healthy and make a game of it. It is going to be a tough week.

Go Eagles! :-)

AJC Sports: Sorry for the chaos last night. I went to bed just before 2 and it appears that David Grantham continued his chatter with some other former Northside alum that he knows. When we all get together at the State Championship game at the Georgia Dome, you will all see ENR and you will see David Grantham. I promise you if there is any other Northside alum there, they will tell you all about our athletic exploits. :-) I say that very confidently. Just wait.

Any person who graduated from Northside in 1993 who is on this blog pretended that he is a top level high school football player is nuts. Some of the aforementioned heros that these guys are naming (i.e. Jeremy Avery) is a very good friend of mine and did not even play college football.

You guys do not travel to McConnell-Talbert and listen to these yahoos screaming at Conrad Nix on every play. It is funny because the truth is out school was just a mediocre program through the 1990s. It really gets under my skin.

My hope is this people on this blog organize a social of some sort. I pray that David Grantham and some of these other Northside posters show up. Then, you will see first hand the look on their faces when I walk into the room. At that point, my Northside credentials will be more than confirmed.

As for the Nix bashers, I am a little lost. We won the game.

I knew once Lassiter played a team with speed that their QB would be neutralized. They play in slow athletic region so he should put up huge numbers. Ogletree is playing at a Marcus Ball level(vs Parkview 2005) that no one will deny him of victory. He literally willed that game for Newnan.

So LHS thinks that lacrosse is king at Lassiter. Lacrosse, while a great outlet for student participation, is but a bug on a windshield as far as high school sports is concerned. I do not, however, blame you for trying to divert attention from the over ranked assessment of the Trojan football program. “Just wait till next year.”, seems like the teams putting away the equipment always say that. HAVE A NICE WEEK WASHING LAUNDRY. HA HA HA

ENR – Sorry, man. I won’t be traveling to Georgia from Houston, Texas, to watch the GHSA staste championship game. It is not a priority in my life.

I will state it again. I probably have cheered for you. I probably will have a great deal of respect for your athletic ability past and present. Until I know who you are, it is difficult to give you any respect based on how you direct comments at people you don’t even know.

I don’t need a social for people to know who I am. It is real easy to type your name and own up to your comments. Please help us all understand you a little more and stop hiding behind a handle.

I went to see Buford play in a game this year. And the Buford team this year is probably the weakest Buford team that I have seen in 7 years. Fitzgerald will expose them (like Colquitt did Lassiter this week) next week and the rest of Georgia will know what I have known this year. Fitzgerald is on a whole another level and I feel that they will the State Championship. You all will see!!!

By the way Northside WR fans, Newnan has a very small visitor seating section but may they will add temp seats like they did last year.
