Hey Camden fans. Just curious. What is the capacity of your stadium. We are sick of these tiny stadiums we’ve had to visit. We’d like to have a little room this week. I am sure your stadium is a true football stadium.

What a great game last night~Newnan vs. Grayson~could’ve went either way~glad my Cougars pulled it out! Grayson was the best we have played so far~not only the team but the fans as well!~And in response to a few earlier bloggers, there WERE a couple of bad calls but they were on BOTH SIDES of the field, not just one side~and of course luck is involved with the game, but it takes more than luck.~Congrats to the Cougars!! Great game Grayson!

Happy belated Thanksgiving everyone.
As I stated before: I told the North Georgia Fans that Colquitt County will beat Lassiter. In addition, I also said that the State Football Title will Go to Camden County for the 2nd Straight year thereby bringing it back to South Georgia for 2nd straight year in a row. Congrats goes out to all of the winners this week.

John in Jacksonville,
That’s exactly what I think. The trend that started decades ago to combine several small schools into one huge school was a mistake. Sure it allows for more foreign languages and cultural arts to be taught, and more impressive ahtletic and band programs. But it does so at the expense of taking the opportunities for starting(or even being on the teams), being first chair, being a cheerleader, having a starring role, being a student rep, being an officer in a club, etc. away from hundreds of students every year in just an average size county. What a loss! In my opinion, Floyd County is a good example of how the good still exists. Even without the City of Rome which is a separate school system, FC could have one AAAAA school(and with the Rome High student body added, one huge AAAAA school) and be in the championship mix every year. They have four AA schools – Armuchee, Coosa, Model and Pepperell – which are great and are the center and pride of their respective communities. If FC decided to combine and go to AAAAA, 66 football current starters would not get to do that, 30 basketball starters would not start, 27 baseball and 27 softball starters, 50 or more cheerleaders, etc. You can’t tell me that the kids and parents in Floyd County wish they were AAAAA even if they were guaranteed State Championships. Many people wish Rome High had not combined East and West Rome(where Nick Hyder was an assistant), but the city had the opportunity to make money by selling East Rome to KMart, Kroger and Home Depot, and West Rome to WalMart and Sam’s. All around our state and nation, school administrators and boards, and local elected officials sold out our kids a long time ago. Keep the faith Floyd County School Board; your students/future leaders, families and communities will be blessed, and maybe other counties will learn from your example.

Looks Like a potential rematch for the Northside Warner Robins Eagles to face Camden County Wildcats. If Northside wins, they will join others in this Class like Camden County, Lowndes, etc. to have State Titles in both AAAA and AAAAA Classes.

Grayson, you are oh so wrong my friend ! Just ask anyone from Newnan and you will find out they prefer being associated with South GA rather than Atlanta. They are so rural and countrified they fit right in with South GA. We claim them and they prefer that, so case closed. If Alan Jackson (he’s from there) says it’s South Ga then it is. Sorry, just the way it is. South GA sweep in the “Big Boy” category !!!!!

My good friend inthatrenches, there’s only one NHS. They reside in Newnan. MLK fan, you are displaying signs of a sore loser. A team consist of more than one player. Mack Jones is a great player but there wasn’t much he could have done against our defense. Stop crying.
For the Grayson fan that felt like the ref cheated them, they missed a couple of Pemberton fumbles even one during their td drive. It all evens out. Grayson has a great team but you have to develope a passing attack when you have third and long.

LHS, do you really think the Packers really care about lacrosse? Very few people do on this post do. Football pays the bills for all sports. Compare the size of the crowd at the next lacrosse game. No offense to the lacrosse team; several of which play football. I wish them all the best! But I don’t think anyone cares about your lacrosse smack talk on this board.
Also LHS, I’ve been reading your posts prior to the game; and your smack talk really made me nervous. Defense, does win championships and it showed last night. CCHS was just too big and too fast for us. I just wish you hadn’t smacked talked so much.
As far as the CCHS folks who are questioning Hutson’s ability, he did have a bad night. But, that was a result of the pressure. He was running for his life. He didn’t have the time and your defensive backs were sticking to our receivers. Also, how many passes did we drop. I think it could have been a different game had you not intercepted the pass for a 90+ yard touchdown in the first quarter. Griffin was just trying to make an extra effort and tipped it up to your defender for a touchdown. That was the beginning of the end. We never recovered. What if we had just kicked a field goal like we did the first posession? I’m not saying we would have won; but it could have be closer. Anyway, that interception was not Hutson’s fault.
As for as coaches go, both schools have great coaches and have really turned the football programs around in a very short period of time. For Lassiter, that was a miracle. However, I am so thankful that we have our coach. Propst is about as slimmy as they come. CCHS, keep you eye on him. Don’t let him get away with anything just because he’s brought back high school football to a great football community.
Congratulations CCHS, you definitely dominated. Congratulations Lassiter on a great and exciting season. We are very proud of you and look forward to great football for many years to come.

Jefferson, Russell, Ron,
If Lovett won the toss, they will have to be home away from home. Their stadium does not meet GHSA requirements for semi-round so they will pick another stadium to host the Jackets.

Grayson you are right. Except Newnan is put in the southern bracket for playoffs, I don’t consider them anything but another Atlanta area school.
But prove south dominance point? Lets see North started with 24 teams in AAAAA and south started with 8. 1 North team remains and 3 south.
I suppose you are right, that doesn’t really qualify as dominance does it?
Look at it another way….4.2% (thats almost zero) of Northern teams remain and 37.5% of southern teams remain.
Or we could look at it like this….95.8% of northern teams (100% Gwinnett) have been ELIMINATED and 62.5% of southern teams and only 50% of that overrated region called 1AAAAA.
Or we could look at it like this….No (o%) Gwinnett teams are left and 2 region 1AAAAA (50%) and Camden are left.
You know doesn’t matter how you look at it the results say something like this……The south is about to own yet 1 more state championship.
And that would mean 6 of the last 7 state championships are from 2 regions. And those 2 regions would be the “ONLY” 2 regions from the south out of 8 in the whole state of Georgia. The other 6 regions are in North Georgia. 2 of them are in Gwinnett.
That would mean during that time span the 2 Gwinnett regions would have
owned 1/2 of a championship and the 2 south regions will have owned 6.
That would mean during that time span that the 2 south regions would have won 12 times more state championships than the 2 Gwinnett regions.
For those who like to accuse Camden of getting a free ride into the playoffs….let see, there is now 1 Region 3AAAAA remaining and zero
7AAAAA and 8AAAAA teams in the playoffs (also no Region 2, 5, and 6 remaining).
Starting to look to me like the free ride has been happening in the northern parts of the state.
It should be noted that Newnan beat a #1 seed from just another northern region. Who didn’t even have to travel to lose.

DEFENSE VS OFFENSE POSTERS
Concerning all the MANY discussions about whether defense or offense wins games, isn’t it amazing that in every game, the winners had both the best defense and offense! It’s wierd but it seems to always work out that the team which scores the most points, thereby having both a better offense and defense than their opponent, wins.

Thanks AA 6 Region. You are quite correct. Just found out 30 minutes ago that Lovett’s seating does not meet GHSA rules for playoff games and even though Calhoun did lose the coin toss and will be considered the visitors on the scoreboard. That helps a lot but I think we(Calhoun) can not afford to make three turnovers less than opposition’s goal line all of which resulted in scores.against Lovett. I’d rather Calhoun had got to play Buford instead of Lovett or even Charlton Co. if Lovett had not put them out 35-32 last night. Anyone know of any weaknesses in Lovett’s armor???

YO,
As the show Highlander says, in the end there can only be one! Props to all of the South GA teams that have done so well and have taken home the championships. They fought hard for them.
As I said in response to another poster that touts statistics (and I don’t consider you the same way!), numbers can be made to say most anything you want them to. You can look at it from the other way as well. North GA teams and Gwinnett in particular because of the concentration of 5A schools, play themselves in many rounds of the playoffs and put themselves out. There were comments earlier this playoff season about Lowndes and Camden Co having to play so early in the rounds assuring that one of them would not progress. Welcome to our world! That happens every year in our neck of the woods. This North/South stuff is just that – stuff. I think all of the teams that make it to the playoffs and go deep can hold their head high and know that they fought to get there. I could be wrong and admit that I am somewhat biased but I think Newnan fans and players will tell you that Grayson played as well as anyone in the state last night and that that game was a title quality game. I also believe that there were other games last light that can have the same thing said about them at all levels of competition. It would be interesting to see numbers from all classifications and see how it breaks out. Just because your program is not 5A doesn’t mean that it doesn’t play quality ball.
In any event, crongratulations to my Grayson Rams for a great season and a great game last night! Congrats as well to Newnan and good luck as you move on.

Am I the only one getting sick and tired of ENR AND DAVID arguing about Northside WR. Guys yall have a great program but both of you are casting it in a negative light. Hey I have a good idea maybe at next weeks game in Newnan at half time instead of the bands we can have yall in the middle of the field in a boxing match, and if one of you dont show I will fill in for you. Something tells me ENR is more bark than bite. Well we may need to have one band ready because if I fill in during the boxing match it want take long for it to end.

Drake Stadium holds about 4,000, but can handle more. There’s always a possibility of putting in temporary end zone stands, too. Then, there’s a nice hillside for those that want to bring a blanket. Parking can be a premium, so carpool if at all possible. It’s not uncommon for fans to park a few blocks away.
NSWR fans, you can either take the Ga16 exit off I-75 and drive straight through Griffin and Senoia until it dead ends at Ga27 just past I-85, or turn off at Forsyth and travel through Barnesville until you hit US19/41, then go north to Ga16 and exit towards Newnan (left). As you come up 27 to Newnan, turn left at the first light (Water Works Road) shortly after you go over a bridge, which will take you directly to the stadium. Visitor seating is on the west side.

With all due respect to the other Grayson poster that was talking about the refs last night, to me the zebras do the best they can and it is just a part of the game. Sure, I thought there were a couple of calls that I did not agree with (a fumbled pass on a good hit that was called incomplete? Come on!!!
) but I was not down on the field. We were talking about it during a couple of the measurements last night that came down to literally an inch. How in the world do you expect someone to locate the forward progress of the ball that closely especially in a huge pileup? I think you just have to accept the calls/spots for what they are and go on. If one call really makes the difference in a game, can’t it be argued that there were many other plays that could have had different results so that the one possibly questionable call shouldn’t matter? And for that matter, if your team really is good enough to be the championship team, shouldn’t they be good enough to overcome a questionable call? Just food for thought and my $.02!
See you at the dome in 2010!

Hey Newnan is in that weak region that always starts with South Ga in the playoffs so are we South Ga hey if we play a South Ga team then we are grouped with the North Georgia teams YOU KNOW WHAT we are a WEST GA TEAM like Griffin,Lagrange,Carver of Col, Carrollton, Bowden, Bremen,East Coweta,We do play some football here in WestCentral Ga…. Right now we will focus on a solid Region 1 central GA team……Looking forward to that
