Observer, we had our starting RB AND our starting QB both go down before halftime. I don’t think anyone could have predicted that. And yet, we STILL won. I think that says more than if we would have beaten them by 30 with the starters healthy.

OH LASSITER FANS….WHERE ARE YOU??? HOW DOES THE CROW TASTE? 46-17???? What happened to the 50 pts. or the 40 or the 30 or the 20??? Maybe you ran into a little defense…OR they ran into you??? At best your team would be the 6th place team in Region 1AAAAA. Way to go Pack. Let’s finish this thing.

Just off the top of my head, I’d think that Buford would have more playoff wins than us, though I suspect it would be close, and it wouldn’t shock me if we had more, either.

ENR, since I feel the need to share with you that my blod runs True Blue.
A history lesson for you.
My dad moved to WR in 1943. Both grandparents retired as civil servants from RAFB. He was one of the original “Ziegler” kids. You can look that up. So was Gov. Perdue. My dad graduated from WRHS in 1961 at its original location known today as Rumble Academy. He used to hunt for squirrels in what we know today as “Demon Valley” when it was a thick forest.
We moved back to WR when I was 4 in 1979.
My sisters and brother graduated from Northside in 1984, 86, and 87 respectively. I went to alot of games. Oh yeah, my aunt was part of the 1st graduating class at Northside.
I have lived in Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, and Houston. There is only one high school team that I follow for now. That is Northside High School. I always promote Georgia HS football and constantly talk about the N v. WR game being equivalent to college football. Until my son, who is 18 months old, is placed into a feeder school system unto which I know what high school he will attend, I will continue to follow the Eagles.
I have consistently supported the Eagles on these blogs. What I don’t support is how you make me look. “Me” being a Northside Alumni. I don’t appreciate it. There are mch more civil ways to express your opinion on this board.

Good times and great memories.
I really wish ENR would email me.
ENR – What is your name?
ENR – When did you play football for Northside?
In case you are wondering, I will keep your identity confidential. I bet that I cheered you on when you were playing. And in that case, I most ceratinly am sure that I will have a great deal of respect for your time and talent that you gave to my alma mater.
It would be nice to know who you are.
Let’s be friends. (No sarcasm or cynicism implied) Sincerely.

ENR–I hope NEWNAN destory NSWR next week. PTR defense knocked out your QB and limited your RB yards when he was in the games and you still can’t give PTR any respect. You better hope your eagles play better than they did tonight. You will see another defense just as good as PTR’defense if not better next week. I can’t wait for you to eat CROW next week.

And if ENR checks the record books for Northside football located in the Program, he will find my name mentioned more than 5 times. If he did play, he would have had to have been really good to be better than me.lol Belive me when I say I know that both you and I know what a decorated high school football player looks like. David, your senior year was my sophomore year. I didn’t play baseball in ‘93 because I went to Windsor that spring semester to be selected to the Post 3 American Legion baseball team, which was not going to take Northside players that year. I came back to Northside after that. The AL team decided it would take Northside players the next year.

Catching up with the posts – ENR, David does not deserve the fire hose of spite and scorn you are showering him with, for no reason anybody but you can see. There’s more to life than constantly seeking confrontation and tearing other people down. Trash talk is for insecure 16-year-olds, it’s just incredibly unattractive in a grown-up.
One correction, I did not say I didn’t believe your statistic about playoff wins. I did say that I would like to see the figures for myself because it is unexpected. I’d like to see how the more obvious teams stack up.
For example, Lincoln County’s web site shows that they started playing football in 1922, and they have FOURTEEN state championships, including ELEVEN perfect seasons since 1960 (three perfect seasons before that, 1923, 1930, and 1933). That’s a record of performance far in excess of any other school except Valdosta – Valdosta would be the only school in any classification that clearly exceeds LC’s accomplishments. Northside certainly does not.
It is not unreasonable to think that a school with twice the history, and seven times the state titles, would have more overall playoff victories too.
Also, per the NSWR web site, Warner Robins leads the all-time series with NSWR, 33-19. It would be reasonable to assume that WR also has more state playoff wins, more state championships, and more of all the other markers of success in proportion to their commanding lead in the all-time series. (Not a certainty – just a reasonable assumption.)
That’s why I said that I would like to see the information for myself – both to see what anomaly allowed NSWR to have more playoff wins than schools with superior resumes, and also to see what other high schools in Georgia history have outstanding histories – not to knock NSWR down and crow, after your style, but because I’m curious.

Whether or not your opinions have merit does not depend on your pedigree, or whether you were all-state or not, or whether you played football or not.
I read once about a drama critic who was criticized because he reviewed plays even though he was not a playwright himself. “Sir,” he responded dryly, “I do not have to be a chicken to know if an egg is rotten!”
You should not have to pass someone else’s test in order to earn respect and civil treatment in a forum like this.

Re: John in Jacksonville
Thanks.
To ENR – I went back to the Georgia High School Football Historians Association page just to check things out one more time. It only has Devon Pike listed as an All-state Player his junior year, not hi sophomore years. So, if this page is correct, neither the AJC, AP, nor the GACA voted him as an All-State player his sophomore year. According to that particular website, your statement of “two-time all-state player” is wrong.
Please correct me and point me to where Devon Pike was an All-State player his sophomore year?

I didn’t think to check that, David. However, I do know that many GACA selections are left off of the GHSFHA website for some reason. Maybe he was selected by GACA his sophomore year, but I don’t know. The more recent years on the site are usually pretty accurate.

Congrats to Peach County High for an excellent game vs. Saint Pius X. Good luck in your quest for a THIRD AAA title in FIVE years.
From all the talk of schools from the North GA vs. South GA, you would think that there is a special anointing of talent and coaching ability given to one side of the other. Maybe there is and maybe there isn’t. However, I do know that Buford, Saint Pius X, Marist, Gainesville, and MANY, MANY, MANY other North GA schools actively recruit transfers into their school for the purpose of bolstering their athletic programs. If there was ever anything that degraded the respectability of high school athletics, recruiting players to build “Super Teams” would certainly be among the top of the list.
Either way, games are won on the field. Congrats to the “city” schools who win on the field with “transfer” talents and an equal congrats to the “rural” schools who win on the field with “home grown” talents.
Best of luck to you all!!!

Robert Davis would move kids into town, get them a house, and land their parents a job……..not to mention the fact that he had refs in his pockets. The Warner Robins-Northside rivalry has turned since he left WR, and it’s no coincidence.

Picks;
Camden over North Gwinnett – Home team eats too much turkey comes out lethargic!
Lassiter over Colquit County – Unstoppable!
Newnan over Grayson – Field goal game. Newnan gets one more defensive stop.
NSWR over “The Ridge” – Have to go with South GA Rules on this one. Too much home cookin’
I surely meant to say Colquit was unstoppable??? Otherwise pretty good picks.

North Gwinnet, when the Bulldogs came onto the field, your fans did not greet you well at all, when the Wildcats came onto the field it was utter chaos, the fans were crazy, it souded like a home game for Camden. It seems like the all of Camden was there,( I know they were not). The point is the players feed off of your emotion, it gives them the extra energy. I guess those tents on the sideline did not work for the defense, since they were on the field most of the night. You can’t keep your defense on the field all night. The most competitive quarter was the first, even though Camden gave up over 40 yards in penalties. NG could not penetrate into the red zone or past the 30. Both teams had turnovers. They are a part of the game. NG had the Defense in the 1st quarter, but after that, the O line of Camden started to assert itself, and Johnson and Days showed heart and drive during some dynamic running. NG had speed on the corners, and neutralized the outside runs, but Camden started to run up the middle and off tackle, so the O line started to get hats on the second level defenders, this cause matchup problems. Once the backs got into the second level, there was not enough speed to catchup. NG stayed with 9-10 in the box all night. Camden did what they do best, run, run and run some more. The hit on Camden this year was they were weak pass defenders, seems like NG wanted to run a little and throw a lot. Camden played about as good pass defense they have played all year. Colquitt visits Camden now, with the spread/run. They appear to be a lot more balanced than NG. Only saw them on line against Lassitter. Stout defense with stout Offense, similar to Lowdnes. Seems to have speed all over the field. Something has to give next friday. Safe travels Colquitt, look forward to seeing your team in person. Again North Gwinnett keep your heads up, CJ is back next year, you have a good future there. My only advise is for the fans, it’s ok to get a little crazy on friday nights.

Not trying to cry over spilled milk BUT–just watched the CSS Grayson/Newnan game. I know officals can change the course of the game, but Newnan fumbles the ball TWICE on their first scoring “drive” where they put up the field goal. Not only did it cost the Rams 3 points on the Newnan field goal but, BOTH times Grayson defenders are clear to the endzone for 6. That is a 9 to 10 point swing–It’s BAD!!! Both times the receivers make CLEAR football moves & have the football well w/in their control & fumble. I’m sorry- but that is just tough to stomach. Big plays by Newnan in the end, you can’t take that away from them. But those TWO missed calls in a close game like that—- it’s just wrong. If you have Comcast, pull up the game & watch the first quarter— WOW
