You have got to love football! Man, the upsets across all classications. Even my beloved Eagles came within a whisker of losing. Peachtree Ridge made a believer of me. They are a great team and well coached. Three overtimes came only after NSWR was down for the count with about 3-minutes left in the game. As forture would have it, it took a DB that moved to receiver and a backup QB to rescue the team. Shaq, our starting RB could play limited time because he broke a finger against Union Grove and our starting QB was injured in the second quarter. Hope these guys are back for the Newnan game..

Jaybo: I was sure TCC was going to win at the nest but that is football at this time of year. I am just glad to see South Georgia do so well especially at the AAAAA level. Camden, Colquitt County, and NSWR. We really could include Newnan. Great season to all teams.

Great game tonight at the MAC……The Lions are one hard hitting football team. The best defense the Eagles face this year…Pridge should be in Region 1 ..shout to the Lions Coaches and Players on a hard fought game……just as I expected , could have gone either way…..should have gone the Lions way ,but Brison Williams had other things in mind ,He was all over the field tonight on offense and defense fighting off a clearly dominating Pridge team……Couldn’t believe the Camden score …Congrats to the Cats…….The Newnan/Grayson game was what I expected…..Congrats to Newnan…….I knew that the Pack would be too much for Lassiter , They play flag football in Region 6 …not Packer football……congrats to the Packers…….This years semi finals teams make a good argument why the Championship games shouldn’t be play at the Dome… For example (only). What sense would it be for Camden/Northside matchup in Atlanta? or Colquitt /Northside or Newnan /Camden..

Continued from 11:24 post. QB and the 2 offensive tackles. Their Defense was under-sized from the front to the DB’s. The running was too much and wore them down. North Gwinnett went flat after Camden scored and made the score 21-0. Looked like they started to panic and press. They never got into a rhythm on offense. The Wing T will do it to you. Good season North, you have nothing to be ashamed of, Camden has a way of exposing teams.

cane fan—Congrats on the win…i told you it would be closer than what you predicted…Congrats to Callaway on a great season, best in their short history!!! for those of you who didnt see the massacre that was colquitt vs lassiter you can go to ghsa.tv and watch it….the only thing that may be saving the attendance at the dome this year is some possibly great championship games…this is shaping up to be one of the best years ever at the dome!!!

Yes LaGrange has always been considered “south ga” because for some odd reason, ghsa keeps putting us in the south bracket come playoff time

Congrats to all who move on, congrats to those whose seasons ended tonight
Now I will wait to see if Carver plays up or drops down after the loss tonight
how bout a region with Carrollton, LaGrange AND Carver???????

BEWILDERED, HOW CAN YOU SAY COLQUITT COUNTY IS A AVERAGE TEAM. LET ME BE THE ONE TO TELL YOU AND AVERAGE TEAM DON’T PUT UP 46 POINTS. AN AVERAGE TEAM DON’T TURN TURNOVERS INTO POINTS. AN AVERAGE TEAM DON’T TAKE CARE OF THE FOOTBALL. AN AVERAGE TEAM DON’T TRAVEL TO METRO ATLANTA 3 WEEK IN ROW AND TAKE CARE OF BUSINESS. THATS NOT AN AVERAGE TEAM THATS A WELL COACH TEAM THAT DON’T MAKE MISTAKES AND BEAT THEMSELVES.

Are there any more questions from the metro Atlanta football hype machine? Without one of our best programs, Lowndes County, due to an obvious bias against the South Georgia regions, we still swept every metro Atlanta program.

Make one excuse, North Gwinnett posters. I knew that Camden would beat a program like NG. Grayson, your inability to score finally caught up to you, just as Rivals.com predicted it would as they dropped you weekly in the national polls. As for Peachtree Ridge, I was at McConnell-Talbert tonight.

Our starting running back, Shaquille O’Neill was on the shelf and ineffective with two broken fingers. Our starting quarterback, Briar Van Brunt, was knocked out of the game with a concussion in the 2nd quarter. Still, our Eagles stood tall! :-) If there is a coach in this state close to Conrad Nix, I want to see him.

The AJC will not give you the full story. Todd Holcomb is not going to tell you the truth on GHSF Daily. I was there. Northside could not move the football and beat Peachtree Ridge with backup players. Coach Ballard and the Kittens of PRidge found a way to pull defeat from the jaws of victory. That is metro Atlanta football. No matter how you cut it.

It is great to be a Northside Eagle! :-)

And for your information IF every metro county had only 2 high schools, those schools would be at least 10 times larger than the south Ga. schools that Stephenson can never seem to beat! Why dont you admit the simple truth….the Dekalb schools suffer…
BIG TIME from POOR coaching and the lack of community support to pay what is needed to hire top notch coaches!

Earlier in the week, people had wrote off Rockdale Co. Once again the boys from the eastside stepped up their game and now they must face Clarke Central, a team that they’ve defeated in OT earlier in the year!!! 2 out of 3 for Region 8-AAAA!!! Its GUARANTEED that a team from Region 8-AAAA is going to be in the DOME!!! Clarke and Rockdale has both improved in alot of areas, so next week’s game is going to be HUGE!!!!

Rockdale DOMINATED once again a state ranked team in Westiside…..what else do these guys need to prove? Whatever happens from this point, Rockdale you guys have had a tremendous season: Congrats to you all!!!

WildcatFan, how goes it my friend? Well it sounds like the Wildcats put on another good showing up north. I was at work and was calling around trying to find out how things were going and when I heard we were up 14-0 at halftime I was pretty sure we would hold on for the win. Just like you and I talked about all season as long as our guys keep their focus and take the games one at a time and play our game we will be alright. Great game for the Cats and now they get to play at home one more time. It should be a good game as well, maybe a hard fought game like the one they played last week.

The HAWGS are out…..You just restated my last comment. Coaching has been a real challenge, other than the instance where extreme talent backed coaching. SWD’s 96′ state championship team. That was a well oiled machine with Quincy at QB and numerous other skill players (playing at Fla State, UTC, Ala, Tenn., Aub, Kenty, etc) Again, we will surely see more Dekalb county players playing ball on TV in SEC games next season and more to come in the near future. The Dekalb county school system pays our coaches bubba. Our coaches actually teach school.

Can anyone direct me to the girls’ basketball blogsite that the overwhelming majority of you metro Atlanta posters are going to flock to? It is officially girls’ basketball season for every program in metro Atlanta.

I need one person to name one big state in America with more mediocre high school football than Atlanta, GA. Admit Todd and Mark. Admit AJC. Metro Atlanta produces the worst results of any major city in America. Name one city that is worse than Atlanta in a state where kids play football.

Go to Miami, Dallas, Houston, Charlotte, Memphis, New Orleans, Los Angeles, Phoenix, Chicago…heck you name it. In those cities, you will be able to identify a perennial football power. Who is Atlanta’s perennial power? Stephenson? :-) Peachtree Ridge (who just lost to a team full of sophomores and backup players)? :-) :-) :-) Grayson? :-) Lassiter? :-)

It can’t get any worse in Atlanta.

Black is back, Sorry that all those slow, rich, cheating, sissies’s parents got together and somehow convinced the refs to steal the game from CC and give it to them so they wouldn’t wet their beds until they get their new porsches for Christmas. Please forgive my being facetious, but seriously, give us a break. You can tell by the size of our players that we don’t recruit, but like your players they give their best day in and day out all year. Continue representing all the good that Charlton County has shown to us metro schools for the last ten years I’ve been watching your school play Buford and GACS. My children don’t go to those schools, but I travel to watch great HS football and Charlton County has always been a first class program, including their band and fans. I remember joining with the GACS fans several years ago and giving your band a standing ovation for their half time performance which included an inspiring rendition of “The Old Rugged Cross”. I also remember going to the Dome specifically to see The Indians play Greene County and seeing the best high school game I had ever seen. You always bring a huge crowd to away games, just as Buford does. The stature your schools’ programs has is evident by the support they receive from your communities and is admired by all the smaller private schools. Whether CC plays up to stay in AA or plays in A, I am sure your school will continue to be one of the dominant teams in the state represented by some of the finest students, coaches and fans, and I certainly wish that for you and your beloved team. With every great team, there is always some room for improvement, and I do have one suggestion based on every game I’ve seen CC play. Find a strong-legged soccer player and tell him all he has to do is come to practice and kick 20 times a day, do his leg work in the weight room and stretch, maybe go to a camp or two. That’s it. By the way, all the other Lovett and Region 6 fans have the same admiration for Charlton County. If you want, there is a ga.prepcountry.com(I think) webcast program that several schools use to broadcast their games each week. Camden County and Dublin use it and so does Lovett, and a school like yours should consider starting their own. They have archives and the broadcast from tonight’s game shows Lovett’s announcers constantly bragging on the talented, tough, speedy and well-coached Indians. It’s almost like they were in awe of many of your stars. This year it’s our chance to advance, but there will be many more years for CC and hopefully for Lovett.

TRUE BLUE….After seeing number 4 return a kick 65 yards, I would squib kick all the rest. But as I said, in that game, Colquit had no offense. Our junior QB threw an interception on the 15 yard line where the Colquit LB walked into the endzone in the second quarter. That was a 6 pt giveaway. But it is neither here nor there. My team is at the house. The reality sucks. We will see you guys next year. Just reloading. There will be another hot Stephenson team, with a deadly passing attack, along with the run. I just watched a backup quarterback and a backup running back lead Northside past a team that opened the season ranked among the 10 best high school football programs in America.

I just watched Conrad Nix so thoroughly outcoach another metro Atlanta coach, that I almost feel sorry for the kids from Peachtree Ridge. Can anyone tell me why PRidge head coach Ballard sat on the lead, when the Kittens were so thoroughly dominating our poor Eagles. We could not move the ball. PRidge was getting fantastic field position and led 10-3. However, they just ran the ball up the middle and sat on their lead.

Northside fans saw this from another metro Atlanta team a couple of years ago at the Georgia Dome. Tucker did the same thing. It was the same result. Northside again.

How dare you come on here and not only tear down a team, but a family. EaglesNationFalling…..Again count how many schools there are in Metro Atlanta. Then look at the pop warner programs feeding these schools. The pop warner teams steam roll those little league teams from the more rural areas yearly. I have seen many good metro Atlanta area high school coaches take positions at the next level. We are a continuous work in progress. Athletes in Atlanta have a slightly different mind set than those in small towns. Nix would not make it as a coach in metro Atlanta, he knows it and you guys know it.

David, you obviously did not attempt the football game. Devon Pike is a two time All-State football player. If you attended Northside, as you say you did, in the 1990s, you have no idea what a two-time All-State football player at Northside HS looks like because Northside NEVER had a two time All-State football player in the 1990s.

If you graduated before 1995, that means that you were at Northside for 3 years (sophomore through senior years). Devon Pike was an All-State player as a sophomore and junior. He is a more accomplished player than any Eagle in the 1990s. The is a fact. I know it and you know it too.

If that is inaccurate, name one two-time All-State player at Northside when you walked the halls. I would hold my horses criticizing a high school football coach who has won more by himself than all other Northside coaches combined.

Cane Fan, Your “Hurricane Warning” was right on and Callaway certainly got blown away by your powerful force. Had they gotten the weather report, they may have chosen a different vacation spot. They had a very good team so obviously Fitzgerald’s #2 ranking was solid. You should at least be co-#1 with Calhoun since of the four remaining, only you two are undefeated. But before you two make your reservations, you still have to get by Buford whom you have, perhaps unwisely, taunted to come on down and face the Canes. Of course, they have lost a game, and to “Lovely” as you pointed out, so how good could they be? Be careful what you ask for. I’m not a Buford follower, but I am a Buford believer. You’ve had an outstanding season and have more left, but you have a major obstacle in getting to the Dome, and the scary howling you hear Friday may be coming from Wolves enjoying the hunt instead of the strong wind. We’ll all see soon. And then there were four, seeking to be only one.

Bewildered: I believe that you are a DeKalb County guy. You guys in DeKalb County would not know a top tier coach if it hit you in the face. Conrad Nix would be much more successful at a school like Stephenson, Martin Luther King, or Southwest DeKalb because he would have better players. Nix is not a choke artist, like the coaches who litter DeKalb County schools. Nix is more concerned about winning football games than chasing skirts.

You said that many have gone on to the next level. I am assuming that you are talking about college football. Name the metro Atlanta coaches who have moved on to the next level in the past decade. I have to call you on that because it is a flat out lie.

Pop Warner football? Did you just mention Pop Warner football??? Pop Warner football has become a organization of large metropolitan areas. It is big in metropolitan areas because there have been so many financial cutbacks and most City and State gov’t. are operating on deficits.

I cities like Warner Robins, Valdosta, and even Roswell and Alphareta kids play with the local recreation department because those cities are not broke like places in DeKalb County.

Name that coach! Please. You are lying and this entire board knows it. I know there is not a single DeKalb County coach that could make it in college football. DeKalb County coaches do not even know that you go for a two point conversion when you are leading by 5. God knows what would happen if any asked a DeKalb County kid to skib kick or kick to the up man to avoid kicking to an All-State kick return guy.

DeKalb County coaches moving up to the next level. :-) :-) That is really funny!

David, I will do this on a public message board. Name one Northside player when you were in school that was a two time All-State football player. It is a matter of fact that Devon Pike is a two-time All-State football player.

I know Northside football. This is a quick answer, partner. It is an easy one too. Name one (just one) Northside football player that was All-State twice while you attended Northside High School.

Perhaps, you can name one. I know why Conrad Nix turned to a kid who was All-State as a sophomore and a junior. Any coach would. We can have that discussion later. Just name the 2 time All-State Northside player when you went to school. Pull that name out of your hat in Wonderland.

My point is Pike is a highly accomplished football player. Nix correctly put his faith in a senior, who is a team co-captain, who came back from a broken arm, and has given his all to Northside. Northside was not going to move the ball against Peachtree Ridge in the red zone. PERIOD!

Name the 2 time All-State player that you know.
