John- experience, experience, experience…when you have played at Northside, at Death Valley (Valdosta Wildcats)…not to mention that a lotta of these same players played at Lowndes and at Tift County last year. someone earlier this week made the comparison that this would be like UGA playing Hawaii in the Sugar Bowl a couple years ago…like Hawaii, Lassiter is just not use to seeing athletes this big AND fast. i told everyone that i like the matchup against Lassiter much better than our matchup last week against Stephenson and all their D1 studs

Looks like AJC scoreboard is predictably malfunctioning again. Even when it was up a few minutes ago, showed game at HT, but started at 7:30 and was only 7-0, should be in 4Q by now.

JB, I would love to see it! I went to Lowndes in the late 1970s when both Griffin and Clarke Central were monsters. One of my first football games was at Thomasville, seeing them play Valdosta the year after they won the 1974 mythical national championship. Valdosta won, but I came away really impressed by the T’ville football program and the strength of their fans.
So yeah – I’m all about old school. lol Let the traditional powers roll! (Except Valdosta – hey, what can I say? I’ll always be a Lowndes Plowboy.)

To clarify – it was Thomasville that won the 74 national championship – I think there was someone named Art Jolffs, or something like that, that selected it. When the Bulldogs would kick off, the band played the most powerful cadence I’ve ever heard, punctuated by the home crowd yelling “Go!” on cue. It sounded like a 12-gauge going off.
