Grayson Student–Roswell may have had the smallest team in all of 5A this year. But our offense line cleared enough holes that our tailbacks had exceptional years. On defense, even your line, with all the beef you have didn’t have much success until that 8 1/2 minute drive in the 4th quarter when you used “William Perry Jr” in the backfield to convert a couple of 4th downs. It baffles me how Roswell keeps winning depite being so small on the line of scrimmage…..quickness and heart must still matter. BTW…be proud of your school, it’s a special place!

PROSKILLpat: Peachtree Ridge runs some shotgun, but primarily runs Paul Johnson’s offense. The QB is Nick Lombardo (#13) who is a dual threat. Their big playmaker is Brad Roby (#10) who goes both ways and is a threat on punt returns. However, they are fumble prone, fumbling 6 times vs Kell, losing 3. Defensively they put pressure on the QB & are stout against the run. I know some people think that because PTR got punished by Lowndes & NSWR beat Lowndes, therefore NSWR should punish PTR. Using that logic, since GT lost to Miami & VT beat Miami, then there is no way GT beats VT. GT 28 VT 23. Now, with that being said, NSWR should win.

White Trash, you didn’t really just state that Camden County has a strong swim team?
The 5A state swim meet is dominated by Gwinnett County, along with a few teams from Cobb, Cherokee, and North Fulton.
Colquitt County has a tradition of turning out champion divers. And Savannah Arts along with Glynn Academy sometimes make a good showing. I also see that Houston County put together 4 boys for a relay in 2009 to score 11th place.
But believe me, Camden County isn’t even on the radar for swimming in 5A.

Northside WR will not make it past Peachtree Ridge. They barely beat Lowndes and Valdosta. They held on for dear life against Colquitt and would have lost if not for a fumble in the last minute. The only time they’ve put anything together in the second half was against Union Grove and had UG had a QB that could pass Northside would have been beat. Not to mention the disaster against a Warner Robins team that had a less than explosive offense. At this point, a complete team will walk all over Northside. Sorry eagles but Peachtree Ridge will end your season. Better now than the embarrassment you’d have against Newnan/Grayson/Camden.

Regardless of money, it is only fair for Camden to play most of their games at home. At least 3-4 of the Savannah teams play in the same exact stadium. The only real “away” region games the Savannah teams ever play are in Bradwell and Camden. Camden’s one or two region “road” games per year are at least as many “road” region games any of the Savannah teams have ever played.

To overrateddd1aaaaa-I am a robins fan and will stick up for my team and northside. Robins did not make the playoffs but we only lost 10-0 at Grayson earlier this year. Futhermore, the other loses were to a one loss Lowndes, a one loss colquit team and a storied Valdosta program. Good luck eagles.

ROSWELL is/was very well coached!!! b4 I moved my son to GA he played on a FL team in The Villages FL. They were small as well, but well coached and very effective. Turnovers will decide this next game! I’m betting my tickets to the Dome on that [LOL!] would like to make 1 MORE trip back this season from SoCal. Roswell should be very Proud and I truly enjoyed conversing with their loyal fans!

Upon reflection about the garbage I’ve read here about a 2 loss Colquitt team as well as the way I’ve seen Lassiter’s offense score an unbelievable amount of TD’s from an obscene # of different receivers, I’m calling for Lassiter by atleast 14. I think we’ll be held to fewer points than 70, but a win by 14 nontheless. Good luck to all student athletes from both teams!

None of the teams in region 1AAAAA blew each other out the game! That just shows how tough Region 1AAAAA is! I think it will be a close game. May the best team win.

Oh Sportsfan 31313 you were hot out of the gate with a 15-1 first round; however you were 5-3 in the second looks like you are 20 – 4 in your picks so far….. I was on fire with my picks I only missed the Stephenson/Colquitt game…… I was dead on the Camden/Lowndes game…. heck you even missed that one and your a Region 3 guy???? Woodstock was never even close….. so your predictions are waning the closer to the dome we get….. My predictions are coming in at 22-2 Round three predictions are……….Northside WR over the Ridge in a tight one by 6 pts………… North Gwinnett by 7 over Camden……….Lassiter by 14 pts over Colquitt……….and finally my heart pick Newnan by 2 over Grayson…..of course the heart pick has got to be partial loyalty…..I have to say though much respect to the #1 Grayson team they have handled the bullseye with grace and their bloggers/fans are tremendous….

Well, this is our fourth straight year of making the playoffs (Our 7th year as a school). ‘07 was our only year that we exited before the quarter finals since our first playoff birth in ‘06. That year we beat North Cobb (Ranked 1st in state at the time) in the first round and lost in the second round to Roswell on a crappy call. I would say that’s not too bad considering how young we are as a school.

GO PACK GO just to inform you I also picked Stephenson last week so i hope for your sake I am wrong again on the Packers… I have had some good picks everyone had Lowndes last week even a few Camden fans thought they would lose… I was just looking at trends as a neutral observer three weeks to ATL for Colquit, the Holiday, a hot QB, I wonder if the Colquit offense can execute and have ball control after all the prior reasons I just gave??? I will tell you that Colquit is impressive but I also will tell you they may be the more tired team?? if it is close going into the 4th and Lassiter is under 30 points and Colquit within a TD… I give Colquit a good shot at winning they like Newnan are a second half team….

Quinn: I have respect for your program. I think what Blair Armstrong did & what Bill Ballard is still doing is very impressive. One of the most impressive HS players I have seen was Cameron Heyward, who was like watching a grown man play with children, when he was at the Ridge. Beating Warner Robins @ the Dome in 2006 was probably one of the top wins in school history. (BTW, my wife was really chapped that night-she being a Demon grad) The only reason I would pick NSWR is because they do not lose at the MAC. This is in no way disrespecting the Lions- I know winning streaks are made to be broken. You may want to direct the disrespect at the NSWR fans-especially after you lost to Lowndes. Previous comments about not bothering to show up at the MAC were tongue-in-cheek. Good luck to the Lions Friday night.

the newnan and grayson game is very tough game to guess. i mean with two great defenses a lot could be decided on field posistion and turnovers. as much as id like to see 3/4 teams from gwinnett, i think newnan is the best team on the left side this year. just barely. i have them by 3 points but in a game like this where its gonna be low scoring it can go either way.

Hey Go Pack Go…I was just having a little fun with you guys. The stadium seating is pathetic, but the complex feels BIG. I know CC is a great team and you Pack fans are great too. I, however will be surprised if your D will cause 8 TD’s when he’s only thrown 5, compared to his 54 TD’s. BTW…he’s got around 12 great receivers he throws to. He has an uncanny ability to find the open receiver. I’m sure CC has their own strengths and I’m admittedly a little afraid to find out what they are. 1 of the 2 wins.

i don’t really know that much about lassiter but it sounds to me that a game where the score is 70-49 is a game where neither team has much of a defense….colquitt county has a good defense so i expect lassiter’s offense to be slowed down….

I know Gwinnett is the center of the Georgia High school world but it would be nice to have neutral sites to play in for teams that carry that #1 seed maybe instead of a coin flip they could split the gate….. maybe beginning in round three and only if there is a seed tie..? another words NSWR v P ridge; Lassitter v Colquitt would remain the same… but the N Gwinnet Camden game could be played in Macon and the Newnan Grayson game could be played at Haliford stadium… this would allow teams that earned the #1 seed to have atleast part of the benefits of being the #1 seed …these kids fight hard to get the seeding but a simple coin flip decides they have to travel??? 7 hours for Camden is way to much….
