My advice for guys is to pray that the GHSA doesn't put Camden in region 1AAAAA it really would be a 1AAAAA sweep think about it. Last year NS was probably the best team we faced all year, If on any other side of the bracket they would have gone farther, the same for this year if not for playing Lowndes they would to have gone farther, So if in the same region that would seperate us, and eliminate those second round games. And 1AAAAA could have a all 1AAAAA semi-finals and that would lead to a all 1AAAAA finals. Be cautious of what you ask for.

cougarfan!!!

I think Most in Grayson feel the same about Newnan. Newnan is a great team. All eight teams remaining are really good and any one of them could win and it wouldn't be surprising.

Guy's I forgot something Newnan will also be bringing a little Defense with us. Some people say they are The Best in the State. We look forward to testing them against such a polished program as Grayson.
Go Cougars!!!

The Newnan Fans respect the Grayson program the coaching staff, players, and fans. We have said all year to be the best you have to beat the best. At this time Grayson is ranked Number 1 so thats who we want to play. I can assure everyone that Coach McDonald will have the Cougars ready to play. Our Run Game will be strong and supported by an accurate deep threat Passing Game. I can also ensure everyone that win or loose the Newnan Cougar Program which includes our fans will be respectful to the host school and the talent on both teams. Go Cougars!!!

As far as Camdedn is concerned you can put us in the SEC. Newnan fan, Ian Days (you remember # 32) Had over 120 yards, scored two touchdowns and made your safety look like he was drunk. Heck who carses anyway. you believe what you want.

The AJC put up their idea at how the regions should be aligned anf they had Camden in 1AAAA. They claim they would actually travel less because of fewer region teams.

Here’s how we’d do Class AAAAA:

1-AAAAA (6 teams)
Camden County (moved from 3-AAAAA)
Coffee
Colquitt County
Lowndes
Tift County
Valdosta (playing up)

Going down: Houston County, Northside, Warner Robins

Notes: Four current 1-AAAAA schools were assigned to Class AAAA because of declining enrollment. Schools may choose to play in higher classes than the ones they’ve been assigned. We expect Valdosta to play up while the Houston County schools (Warner Robins, Northside, Houston County) play in AAAA. Do we think the GHSA is going to put Camden County in this region? We’ll believe it when we see it. But here’s the logic: The average road trip for Camden County in the new Region 1-AAAAA would be 121 miles. The average trip in Region 3-AAAAA would be 107 miles. But in 1-AAAAA, there are only five opponents. Let’s do the math: Five road trips times 121 miles is 606. Seven road trips times 107 miles is 749. In other words, Camden will travel less in a six-team Region 1-AAAAA than an eight-team Region 3-AAAAA. We realize that Camden pays many Savannah schools to give up their home football games and come to Camden, but that’s irrelevant because the travel for the region overall is the same whether Savannah comes to Camden County or vice-versa. GHSF Daily asked Camden County football coach and athletics director Jeff Herron about his school moving to Region 1. His answer: “I still don’t see how we could with the consideration we must give to the other sports. It would force all of our other sports to play all of their games on the weekends [because of long travel on week days]. But, with that few of schools [in Region 1], the region schedule might be easier to pull off. I guess we will just have to wait and see what happens

TCCHS JACKETS,

Yea I know when the polls come out, but I'm referring to those teams being ranked above us even before they lost. My contention is Marist, Hiram and Westside Macon should have never been ranked above us even before last friday night. Heck, I dont even think Sandy Creek should be ranked above us!! But anyway, I do understand that the rankings dont even matter right now...we just have to keep winning and the rest will take care of itself!! I do know that Sandy Creek will be better than Richmond so we gotta be ready to play and I hope and believe we will.

Hey Jacket, on another note....I would like to play golf friday in Thomasville...is the country oaks golf course in good shape?? Just checking to see if you know anything about that?? Thanks for your help and I can't' wait for friday night...I will be there with bells on and my headphones so I can hear Randy Young call the game!!

Yea I know when the polls come out, but I’m referring to those teams being ranked above us even before they lost. My contention is Marist, Hiram and Westside Macon should have never been ranked above us even before last friday night. Heck, I dont even think Sandy Creek should be ranked above us!! But anyway, I do understand that the rankings dont even matter right now…we just have to keep winning and the rest will take care of itself!!
The problem with Dekalb schools starts with the county robbing the good teams of the money that they bring in. The better teams need to get a lot bigger share of the pie than teams that never compete .There are not any lights onthe practice fields , no score clocks on the fields for the freshmen games. The weight rooms are mid 1980's or less. There are not any big business around that support the programs , all the Asians come into the community and make money but dont support the schools and then they go back to gwinnett or othe counties. With all of that being said that still does not make u win or lose the game it comes down to coaching and having good assistants who can demand to be heard from . The head coach cannot run the whole team you have to be open minded and listen when things continually dont work in the playoffs. These coaches at these schools are good coaches because it takes more than what you see on Fridays to make a team. They are good organizers of the off season work outs and setting up programs and the over all building of a football team. The the thing they must learn to do is to not take criticism personal, when the people in the stands can see the same problems week end and out somebody on the coaching has to be seeing the same thing. No one Knows every thing about any profession no matter how good they are at that job.I see a lot of stubborness in the coaches at these schools they seem to tighten up when they get in big game situations and forget all the different plays that they have in their play book. The head coach does not make a good play caller a lot of times because he's to concerned with what can go wrong on a given play and that makes him revert back to something simple and easily diagnosed by the defense or offense of the other team. They have got to open up and let their coaching staff introduce new ideas that they see while the game is going on because u can only think so fast and see so much while the game is being played. These coaches really work hard at their craft and do a very good job over all they just need to do a little tweaking to their style.

Go Camden, but would like to add, just remember any give friday, 11 on 11. Any team can be beat, does not mean the other team is better, just means you need to be prepared and play hard.

Good luck to everyone and Camden with ther 7 hour road trip. Man that sucks for anyone who has to travel that long, but we will be alright though.

yes it was
http://www.ajc.com/sports/high-school/six-metro-state-football-210277.html

Martin resigned last week after taking Windsor Forest to its fourth consecutive playoff appearance in AAAAA. The coach said Windsor Forest would have trouble improving on his record as long as the school is required to play in the highest classification despite AAA enrollment numbers.

"I think the kids are missing out on opportunities if we were in a different classification," Martin told Rich McGowan of the Savannah Morning News. "There's a lot of issues in Savannah that haven't been addressed and need to be addressed and I just don't see it changing much."

Martin was 29-25 in five years at Windsor Forest, a middle-sized school that plays in Region 3-AAAAA. Windsor Forest, with projected enrollment of 1,300 students for the 2010-11 academic year, lost to Union Grove 47-20 in the first round this season.

Hiram #56 Dad

I said that region3-AAA is the toughest region in the State in Class AAA. I still stand by that assessment. That does not mean that they could not be beaten. Put your team in Region 3-AAA and see where they go in the regular season.

Wildcat, it depends on what you want.

There are several motels/hotels at the Lawrenceville Suwanee Rd exit off of I 85. That is about 5 miles from the school. I believe there is a Days Inn, a Fairfiled, and a couple of others. There is also a variety of decent food along Lawrenceville Suwanee Rd.

I am pretty sure if you search the internet for accomodations in Suwanee you will find those and perhaps a few others scattered in the area. A little further away, there are more hotels near the Sugarloaf exit off I 85.

I would recommend not waiting to make a reservation since accomodations in the area may be taxed because of the holiday.

Happy Thanksgiving! Have a safe trip. This should be a very exciting game.

Ownz--I'm sure we would recognize each other. It is a good thing that Coach Sphires has closed the NG Highway to Buford. Believe me Buford is still trying though. The word is that they are after the QB of the Norcross team that beat Mill Creek in the 8th grade Div. 1 Championship.

Columbia Blue you said “At the Newnan game last year (Camden played at Newnan), they had a really big hostile crowd and we hung 27 on them and only gave up 7. They had only given up 33 points all season. Nothing in the past matters anyway.”
We did have a good crowd but hanging 27 on us you make it sound like it was domination it was not!! Camden played on our side of the field most of the first half becuse of 2 turnovers they did not have a drive greater than 35 yards all night 1 turnover was unforced they scored on their second possesion after another fumble on a flukish 4th down play… Newnan never recovered Newnan came out and scored a TD in the 3rd quarter (the game should have been tied at that point) the last TD Camden had was late after the Newnan squad turned it over on downs in their own territory… Bulldawg… My advice to the North Gwinnett team is to not to think to highly of this team they are a solid team who capitilizes on mistakes Play your game and take care of the ball… The Newnan Team looked like a deer in headlights and played the 1st half of football that way….They are just like any other football team in the state that is left.
Playoffs determine the best Team and they can only line up 11 not 111

inthatrenches

Did you really post this??? come on man!!! 27 to 7 on your field. You got whipped and there was a reason your team looked like a deer in headlights and gave up flukish turnovers!! Great defs overcome (camden gave lowndes the football on a muffed punt around our 40yard line and shut them down) thats what great defs do at home when the games on the line!! So quit making excuses you got beat soundly at home by a better team!!
Camdens playoff record against newnan
2008 27 to 7
2005 50 to 0
2003 20 to 10

To all Grayson fans get ready for the excuses when you BEAT newnan (its already started with coin toss)!!

Hehe. We might recognize each other, NG Dad. I coached a youth football team for a few years (among many other community activities). Just now I have kids I coached coming on to the teams for both North and P Ridge. It is very satisfying to see some of these kids do well at the next level.

Fortunately, none of our kids are going to Buford, anymore. If anything, it is great to see a talented kid like Scotty Hosch coming back to North where he belongs. I have little worry about the team if Uzomah gets hurt, with a kid like Scotty ready to run the offense. Hopefully, Scotty proved himself to the rest of the community when he drove the team for a touchdown late in the Centennial game. I never coached Scotty myself, but I know how talented he is. I was an avid fan of his brother, Twoey, when he led Buford to a State Championship a few years back. Too bad we let Twoey get away.

Suwanee Ownz-- I echo your sentiments. I have been involved with the athletic programs at North Gwinnett (both youth and High School) for some time and have never seen a situation where opposing teams and fans were treated rudely or unsportsmanlike. I'm sorry that the band member was hurt, but from your account of the events it sounds if it was an accident that happened in the stands and the emergency personnel on hand took steps to ensure the situation was handled. The fact that everyone on the track didn't take the time away from the game to inquire about the situation is just crazy. The only time I have witnessed any unsportsmanship or classless acts was in 2007 when after the game (NG Won), a PTR player sucker punched a NG player as the two teams were shaking hands. Now that is unsportsman like behavior.

The NG/PTR rivalry is a heated one that is between 2 of the best teams in the state. Both teams are well coached and the players are top notch. Let's hope we get to see you guys again in the dome.

I hope my comments are taken in the right context because calling for a man job isnt my style, but in the case of RON GARTRELL This is unbelievable how he waiste teams with the amount of talent he had this year. I have been following this team for years and we are talented every year and we always use the excuse about sending kids to school, sending kids to school is your job and with the talent you are given every year these kids are going to school on talent you get credit for putting kids in school when you are paying for it out of your pocket.Hell in 05 you had the whole sec on one defense, rilley shepard and cunningham and thats not including the player of the year MARCUS BALL.If a coach cant win a state tittle with a team like that team what makes us think he will ever win one.the community should be outraged because you have given your time, money and your chidren and you deserve better. RAYMOND SANDRS ,MICHEAL THORNTON,TYRON CONNELIUS,CHRIS SHARP ,JABARI ,KENNY LATTLIER, NATHAN BENFORD,DENZEL HARTLY, AND a host of others wait until the world see the type of players these are and believe me when these guys get on the college level you will be proud.THE sad part about all of this is as long as coach GARTRELL is the coach we wont be taken serious, example EAN PEMBERTON of grayson is 5-4 dont get me wrong is a great back but since his team is being taken serious and in contention he will get the notoriety thats needed to get to the next level. RAYMOND SANDERS should have been considered one of the top backs in the state but he was only talked about in games where he had to steal the show. I know your going to say stephenson was on ESPN no mack brown was on ESPN and RAYMOND stole the show.I know i said i dont call for a man job but in this situation i will .I didnt want to POST directly after the game because i didnt want to pile on because those kids was crushed and they worked so hard and they deserve better .If Gartrell is the coach next season you just lost another fan today.

Ridge Mom. Frankly, I have lived in Suwanee over 30 years, and I have always found the people to be helpful and friendly. Well, except maybe for a few folks from the Sugarloaf subdivision; although even Sugarloaf has some wonderful, warm hearted people. So I am surprised that someone thinks Suwanee people are rude, and I would like to understand what happened.

I met my neighbors right away. Whenever a new family moves in, existing residents go out of their way to introduce themselves and usually do something like bake a pie or present some other house-warming gift. When we go on vacation we tell the neighbors and I know they will watch the house for us; I might even have the lawn mowed by someone before I get back. I have no reservations about allowing my teenagers to attend a concert at Suwanee Town Square without an adult to supervise, because I know it will be safe with plenty of police. So I am surprised you consider Suwanee folks to be rude, and I would like to understand.

To recap what I think you said: you asked police for assistance and they were helpful. But there may be some sort of problem with loose metal boards in the stands. I am going to check those stands myself to see if there is anything that can be done to secure them. In the 15 years or so that I have attended events in those stands, I was not aware of any such issues. I believe you, but I never heard of a problem like that before. I’ll see what I can do. I am sure the administration is concerned about safety issues.

Next, you walked around the outside of the track holding a teenager's hand during the biggest game of the year, and nobody noticed, therefore Suwanee people are rude. OK, you got me. I guess I am rude by that definition. If I were in that part of the stadium, I probably would have been bent over the fence watching the game. If I happened to notice a mom holding a teenager's hand I would not have thought anything of it. My wife and daughter do that sort of thing all the time. If you said something, it might have depended on what was going on in the game as to whether I would take a huge interest. I probably would point you in the direction of emergency personnel, but I am not sure I would take you there myself, if P Ridge was "driving the ball" or something like that.

Alright – guilty. I guess I am rude in your world. You're from Sugarloaf, right? But I am not sure that I would announce to the world that Suwanee is a hostile environment full of rude people based upon that definition of rude. I think you do a disservice to your community with that sort of pronouncement.

By the way, your band is fantastic, and you have an outstanding music program at Peachtree Ridge. Thank you for allowing the County to use your facility for practices by the Kendall Honors Orchestra. Thank you for allowing the County to use your theater for performances by the Gwinnett County Youth Symphony. Those are programs that improve the quality of education in Gwinnett for many students, and we appreciate your gracious loan of the facility.

SWD Player the comments on this blog about your teams is not directed to your teammates or Coach.

You can blame your #1 Fan Marcus, just like you stated that jump on the bandwagon and has not made a comment yet unless he changed his name. He talked a million dollars worth of _ _ it.

Great season young man and good luck in the future.

HOWEVER, as in the movie Boomerang MARCUS MARCUS, where are you no comments? You were the ultimate SWD fan two weeks ago.

cane fan--Im sure Callaway will be ready, but win or lose, they wont lose by the 3-5 tds you claimed...are there any photos of the stadium anywhere online i can view?

Just returned back to Southern California from the Grayson/ Roswell game. A few comments. A very tough battle between 2 teams using ALL resources to advance. Special teams proved bg for grayson...but not as big as an unveiled running attack that had not been used of late. Roswell is the gritiest/stingiest team Grayson played to date this year. Very well coached! For Grayson to move with 10 stacked in the box was really something to watch! Field conditions will be a major factor in Fridays game! Whoever took the picture of the Grayson Longsnapper from AJC....nice photo of a true skill very much overlooked during these playoffs..my hats off to your shot! Injuries are healing pretty well overall considering! Maybe we'll have a Champaign Jam [ARS][band from Atlanta] song.. after this is all over! GO RAMS...wanna come back to the Dome and visit again...Love Georgia HS Football!!Lots of jet lag so sorry about spelling lol

I want to clarify a few things.
First, I am not upset that P'Ridge lost to NG. We didn't play the way we should have, I'm not making excuses, the best team won. I wish NG all of the luck, they have a few tough games ahead of them.
Second, I know that the kids from our school act out as well, as all teenagers will. I do think that it goes a long way in heading off trouble to try to keep the two schools somewhat seperated.
Third, we did see a lot of NG people around and when we (band chaperones) tried to point out somethings that we saw that didn't look right to us we got an "oh, well" and ignored. I was not trying to make a blanket statement. If you can not handle the fact that the experience we had at your field was a bad one, and I am sure that there are other P'Ridge adults that were there can tell you the same, then maybe you need to look at what is going on.
Fourth, the bleachers are metal looking boards and two of the boards slid out at was at the top of the stairs in the area where the band was. That was how the parent and the guard girl got hurt the metal edges. Suwannee police were there, and I did state that they did offer assistance. I had a problem with the fact that I was walking a young lady out around the track with how many NG folks around and I am holding pressure on her hand to keep it from bleeding and you all just stood there looking at me, no one even asked what had happened. Now just take a minute and put yourself in my spot. What if you had been trying to take care of one of your students and you were ignored. What kind of impression would that have made on you?
I did not say anything about the announcer or the game, please remember that. My concerns were how hard it was to get someone to mark the area so others would not get hurt and taking care of someone injured.
Safety in an event like these is first, and as the adults at these events we should be paying attention to that before we are anything else.
Sorry, about this being long. I knew if I posted the first time someone from NG would get offended that's why I waited.

I want to clarify a few things.
First, I am not upset that P’Ridge lost to NG. We didn’t play the way we should have, I’m not making excuses, the best team won. I wish NG all of the luck, they have a few tough games ahead of them.
Second, I know that the kids from our school act out as well, as all teenagers will. I do think that it goes a long way in heading off trouble to try to keep the two schools somewhat seperated.
Third, we did see a lot of NG people around and when we (band chaperones) tried to point out somethings that we saw that didn’t look right to us we got an “oh, well” and ignored. I was not trying to make a blanket statement. If you can not handle the fact that the experience we had at your field was a bad one, and I am sure that there are other P’Ridge adults that were there can tell you the same, then maybe you need to look at what is going on.

The Lowndes/Camden game was a chess match between Herron and McPhearson....Herron was ready for any and everything McPhearson brought to the table and he countered every attack...too bad Lowndes couldn't find a way to get the momentum back...Camdem ran the ball the whole second half...even on fourth down...you gotta get a stop!! The turnovers didn't help Lowndes either...I called that out earlier in the week...you gotta be focus and prepared for a stuggle on the road playing a team like Camden. All in all a good season...maybe next year will be better.

With all due respect, Senior, I do not think anyone should take Newnan, Lassiter or Camden lightly. Those are all very strong teams. Colquitt should at least expose whether Lassiter has any vulnerabilities. My fear about Lassiter is that football games with them take on more of a basketball strategy. Sounds like they trot down the field every 4 or 5 minutes and make another basket. And without any defense the opponents do the same. It may come down to ball management in the last 5 minutes if a team can even hang with them through the first 3 quarters. A team like Camden or Grayson may have the best luck against them by controlling the clock on long drives.

There is still plenty of exciting football left to play by the best teams in Georgia. Not one of those teams would have made it to this level without a very strong team.

And congratz to "title town" for such a strong showing. The rest of us are in awe of your football mastery.

The problem with that sort of trash talk, Senior, is that old dirty shoes just do not taste very good. The remaining teams are good teams that deserve considerable respect for making it to this level. For example, Newnan is a dangerous team and it will take a very good game by Grayson to notch a win against them. It may take a good game by North and a bad game by Camden for North to even have a chance against such a superior team.

I really feel sorry for dekalb schools not having their own stadiums, but it really isnt practical. Would you expect to see a high school in upper manhattan to have their own football stadium? no, football just isnt suitable as an urban sport. and SWD player, I'm pretty sure that Gwinnett has more high schools than dekalb (18 vs dekalb's 13) so it isnt a problem of players being spread out over multiple schools.

I would be willing to bet that the state champion is a gwinnett team. let's face it, Newnan, Lassiter, and Colquitt just arent quite good enough, which leaves P ridge, camden, N Gwinnett, Grayson, and NSWR. If I had to choose one right now, I would pick Grayson. They are just such a consistent team with a defense that always steps up to the plate.

Good luck to N Gwinnett on beating Camden. Give them another long ride home.

Wow, you talking about disrespect...that is major disrespect right there!!!! I understand that you have to earn respect and that is what we've done on the field. But still the state of ga continues to overlook TCC!!! Thats cool..we will just keep proving the doubters wrong!!! The YELLOW JACKET NATION is fired up and our team is ready to hit Sandy Creek in the mouth friday night!!! LET'S GO JACKETS!!!!

I think that since there are 3 Gwinnett teams left in the final 8 for 5A there is a pretty good chance that Gwinnett County will have at least 1 team in the dome.

For that matter with Buford, Wesleyan, Grayson, Peacthree Ridge, and North Gwinnett still left in the playoffs, there is almost zero chance that Gwinnett will not have a team in the dome. And I would say chances are pretty good that Gwinnett County will bring home at least 1 championship.

Go Gwinnett!!!

By the way, I just want to say that I have the utmost respect for Roswell, Marietta and all the teams we played during the year. I have seen some amzing football this year! I respect all of the teams that made it to the playoffs as they have shown that for this year, on these nights, they are the best. Good luck to all in the rest of the playoffs.

NG, I guess we will see you at the Dome! ;) Sorry I just couldn't resist! :) :) :)

Good Job RamsFan The two best defenses in the state will match up, I expect it to be a close game.. Both teams rely on their defenses to create field position and hold suit if the offenses do lapse, the difference may be special teams; a turnover can change momentum either way I expect alot of heart will be playing and that is something you cannot measure.... Good Luck to the Rams regardless of the outcome

WildcatFan, how goes it my friend? I've been trying to hear the replay of the game on K-Bay, but I'm not having much luck. I know JC Outlaw probably lost his voice calling the game.lol I'm not sure why everyone is talking about the long drive to NG, school is out this week for Camden so they will probably travel up there sometime Thursday evening. Just like we've talked about all season, as long as we play our game, we'll do just find. I'm sure you will be making that trip up there and I'll be depending on phone calls again to keep up with what's happening.

I've attended the last 26 games that Grayson has played- with a record of 25-1 btw. I've seen a lot of high school football in my time-- but there is something different about this program. These kids will chew their leg off before they will go down w/out a fight. The spirit of this team, this program-- it's just different. You've got two kids out there that literally have no ACL & their injuries are fresh! But they're playing, doing what they can to get it done. The person that commentted stating that if special teams doesn't score the Rams won't put points on the board. You don't have a clue. The Roswell game was unique in the fact that 2 scores came off special teams.

As far as Newnan is concerned- best defense wins this game. If high scoring games are the only way to impress this forum neither team will win that prize this week. It's going to be a war--

I know the atmosphere is going to be electric at the JACKETS NEST friday night!!! Sandy Creek we are awaiting your arrival and TCC will not be in a good mood...our defense has been stellar all season, giving up an avg of in the area of 7ppg...and boy will they hit you in the mouth!!!!! We have much respect for Sandy Creek and their program, but they will have to bring their "A" game if they're going to beat us at home!!!

Columbia Blue you said "At the Newnan game last year (Camden played at Newnan), they had a really big hostile crowd and we hung 27 on them and only gave up 7. They had only given up 33 points all season. Nothing in the past matters anyway."
We did have a good crowd but hanging 27 on us you make it sound like it was domination it was not!! Camden played on our side of the field most of the first half becuse of 2 turnovers they did not have a drive greater than 35 yards all night 1 turnover was unforced they scored on their second possesion after another fumble on a flukish 4th down play... Newnan never recovered Newnan came out and scored a TD in the 3rd quarter (the game should have been tied at that point) the last TD Camden had was late after the Newnan squad turned it over on downs in their own territory... Bulldawg... My advice to the North Gwinnett team is to not to think to highly of this team they are a solid team who capitilizes on mistakes Play your game and take care of the ball... The Newnan Team looked like a deer in headlights and played the 1st half of football that way....They are just like any other football team in the state that is left.
Playoffs determine the best Team and they can only line up 11 not 111 !!!

Two very good backs and which one is amazingly fast, with 3 or 4 good backs to come in and give breaks. Two very good recievers, if we choose to throw the ball. And a stronged arm QB. And a very capable tightend.

Man I can't wait to be in North Georgia this Friday. NG seems like a great team with great fans. There is nothing like a cold Friday night in a football stadium. It should be a great game, the size of NG's line worries me but that is what the playoffs are all about. We plan on leaving St Marys right after we clean up from Thanksgiving lunch. I always try to look on the bright side of everything, and being that I grew up in Atlanta the bright side is this....If we lose Friday night, we get to come home to the beautiful coastal waters of Camden County; and they are still stuck in north Atlanta.

Get at NG

Fot the Wildcats, I do not think it really matters if we play at home or on the road. We are not going to change anything anyway. Best of luck to you. Camden will always show class. Talking trash has never put points on the board. It seems like NG is also a real classy organization. Our fans are great. I am certain we will bring at leat 5 thousand to the game. At the State Championship game last year we had somewhere around 8 thousand fans. Heck the Lowndes game Friday night had people sitting in the isles. There were at least 17 thousand at the game. Last year we had to go to Newnan and then turn around the next Saturday and go to the dome. We have played in the dome so many times that the trip to NG will not be a factor.

We really do not have any big play makers. We just put on our blue collard shirts and play smash mouth football. I think they call that 4 yards and a really big clowd of dust.

To Get at NG

We look forward to all the hype. Heck, the hype makes us play a lot better. I wish NG the best of luck. It is just another game to us. At the Newnan game last year (Camden played at Newnan), they had a really big hostile crowd and we hung 27 on them and only gave up 7. They had only given up 33 points all season. Nothing in the past matters anyway. I am sure you guys are really good and I am sure we will be really ready to play.

A GHS Bear In Texas,

I remember the trips to Valdosta in '78 and '80, the nailbiters with Morrow, Fayette County, Newnan, and LaGrange. It seemed we played them forever, along with R.E. Lee in Thomaston until '77 or so. I was a band member in '80 when Lowndes shut us down in the title game, but we tied (beat) Valdosta in '78 down there. You guys had some great players on the field in those days. Griffin was a good place to grow up. I won't comment beyond that. I still have family there.

Good points fred, in the games that you do give up a lot of points (South Gwinnett, Parkview) the offense performs. Grayson is a winner. plain and simple it is almost never pretty lol but they find a way to get it done which is what counts. i have them losing the game this week but i may be wrong. i have newnan in the final and they are a top tier program. NG will need to bring their A game, but so will Camden. i think NG has a better chance of bringing their A game considering it is at home and camden will be traveling.

I'm sorry, I just did a little research and apparently ---

"3. Bands are not to play during live-ball situations.

NOTE: This includes the situation in which there is no timeout and the teams are in a huddle.

(a) If, during a football game, a team claims interference with communications due to band noise, the Referee shall give a warning to one or both head coaches and the bands must cease playing.

(b) If there is a second offense by the same school's band, an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty will be imposed against that school's team."

So it is up to the COACH to point it out to the ref's as an interference. If they don't then the ref's let it go.

Grayram - I played football for NG until last year when I obtained a injury which ultimately ended my football career. I got the information from our head coach Bob Sphire. As far as it being 100% true, I am not positive. I just assume if he says the rule changed, then it must've.

Just skimmed through - wanted to point a few things out.

1) The band playing mid-play is NO LONGER against GHSA rules. Although in your opinion you may see it as disrespect it was changed last year. I disagree with the change as well, but it's not our call to make.

2) I am a current senior at NGHS and as for our fan base, you can easily expect 7,000-8,000 fans of our own for the NG vs Camden game. Without a doubt, this is going to be the biggest game for NG up-to-date.

3) As for "class" and "sportsmanship" you cannot ACTUALLY expect a bunch of high school rebellious teenagers to be "cool" and "chill" at games versus big rivals, in big games. Of course you are going to have the ones trying to start stuff, that's something people need to learn and accept.

In my opinion, I don't see Camden getting more than 14 points. Our defense is in tip-top shape right now, I truly do not see them giving up more than 2 touchdowns -- IF THAT. As for our offense CJ's leg injury continues to haunt us in each game. It gets healthy throughout the week but then one wrong hit during the game puts it back to where it started. We can't afford to sit him out any in the game vs Camden. This game is one for the book, UNDOUBTEDLY! Expect to see one hell of a game friday ladies and gentlemen.

Sgt Chris:

Yes Grayson should be favored at home vs Newnan.
Believe it or not Grayson would also be favored against Lagrange.

I beleive Newnan will be the toughest team Grayson has faced. Camden was 1st game and they are much better now than when Grayson played them. For Newnan Grayson will have to play their best game to win, as it should be in a 3rd round playoff game.

North Gwinn over Camden?
I think so. Haven't seen North in person this year but I beleive they are a little stronger than the pridge team Camden beat by 7 last year and this Camden team maybe not quite as strong as last year. Since North is at home I will pick them. North may have the most overall balance of any team, strong defense, strong running, strong passing.

Peachtree Ridge played for the title last year and played well, losing to Camden by 7 on a late TD.
This year because of an early season loss on the road to a strong lowndes team many people here have wanted to laugh at them or say a team was "peachtree ridged" or even say they are soft.
Having had a few chances to see them play i believe they are more than capable of beating the Eagles at home.

Good luck to everyone

Go Gwinnett!!!

Callaway better bring their A game, special teams will be a factor in this game, callaway cant be all that bad, they made it this far...so fitzgerald will be up for the challenge, mike west will have his "D" ready, I hope callaway is ready for all of fitz weapons, multi-talented, I am sure some of our "O" players will play D this week, as for going probably not, I have a chimneyette outside and usually fire it up, relax and listen on the radio on my patio

BulldawgBite, I did my research. In most of the polls I checked, Rivals, Max Preps, Maxwell, AJC, Todd Holcomb's poll whose name escapes me, Grayson is ranked higher. But in the end, it doesn't matter. All that matters is W/L and making it to the Dome. Just as I don't know your program very well, you don't know Grayson. The Grayson team that is on the field now not is not the same team from earlier in the season. I would hope the NG team has progressed over the year as well. I attended all but two of the Grayson games and I can assure you that the scores and the media reports do *not* reflect the true games. We have not looked good several weeks and have looked great others. The reports on the Roswell game still don't capture the flavor of the game. Grayson controlled that game much better than the score might suggest. The Rams always do what they have to in order to win. Look at time of posession and total yards, etc, and you *might* get a better idea of who Grayson is. There have been several high powered offenses that thought they were going to walk all over us and got surprised. There have been strong defenses that thought they could shut the Rams down and they got surprised in the end as well.

Because Grayson is a relatively new program it has been very easy to take shots at us and our abilities this season and that is okay, it comes with being ranked number one in the state and in the top ten nationally. As I think one of the Lowndes, Valdosta or Camdem posters said earlier in the season, everyone has been watching Grayson to see how they handled going from being the hunter to the hunted this year. I'd say we have passed that test pretty good so far. It could end next Friday but I really expect us to be in the Dome this year.

At the end of the year the team with the trophy is the one with the bragging rights. I expect that to be us. If for some reason it is not, I will be here to congratulate the team that wins. After all, it is a game for kids played by kids and we don't need to lose sight of that.

Have a great week and good luck next Friday - you will need it.

Friday's game was certainly a nail-bitter and I spent most of it working the gates! I had also heard of the Marist coach showing some unsportsmanlike behavior, but I didn't have that trouble with the Marist fans that came through my gate.

Good job to both teams and a big congrats to our Chee boys who put everything on the line for this win. When it came time to decide whether to go for the two-point conversion, Coach Davis left the decision to the offensive coordinator and the players and everyone agreed to go for it. The Chee cats may not be the best team when it comes to offense or defense but when it comes to heart, they are in it to win it.

I'm also glad that the next game will be at Apalachee. Try not to get lost finding us, Griffin fans! And don't be ashamed if you do. The school has been tricky to find for other teams as well. It might be quicker going through the back roads than trying to get on to the highway. I'm speaking from personal experience as someone who sometimes visits friends in Zebulon. If you're worried about whether you'll find a place to eat when you visit, we've got McDonald's, pizza and Chinese food nearby. There's also Publix and Target as well.

I hope everyone has a happy Thanksgiving!

Suwanee 0wnz, thanks. I have been very impressed with the other running backs and te job they have done. Yes, if Ean Pemberton is not on the offense, we lose a little of the explosiveness but #7, #14 and #41 can get it done when they are asked. Santry has done a great job at QB and throws well enough to command respect from the opposing defense. That helps when they start stacking the line to slow the rush. In fact we had several good pass plays that contributed to the win Friday night.

I think the depth has been pretty good this year. I have also been impressed with the smaller kids! They might not be a Terry Williams size (6'+ 275lbs) but they make up for it with their speed and play.

Good luck against NSWR, Quinn. While that game was a tough loss for Brookwood, it accomplished exactly what I was hoping. That game restored the confidence of P Ridge players and coaches so that they will play at the level they can.

I think NSWR is going to have a very tough time scoring on the P Ridge defense. I would expect no more than 7 or 10 points from NSWR. In the mean time, I just do not think NSWR can stop Lombardo and Roby for a whole game. This game was tailor made to showcase the P Ridge talent. But KICK THE BALL on 4th down. Go get 'em Lions!

Fred i just said that your offense is ranked so high because of the terrible defenses you play all year. besides warner robins camden and roswell you havent played a good defense. when you get 50 points against teams like berkmar and meadowcreek that boosts your offense. grayson is simply not an offensive team as much as they are defensive. against good defensive teams they should not expect to score more than 14 but their defense has to hold teams to under that amount. i picked Grayson to lose this week against newnan. i just dont see where grayson will get points from besides special teams. and as far as you said grayson is higher than NG... it depends on which polls you decide to look at. you are ahead in rivals but not maxpreps. so if you are going to badmouth me at least check your sources

I don't think Grayson has to justify their program to anyone, Fred. You fought through injuries and adversity and still keep putting "W"s on the board. Way go go Rams! Happy Thanksgiving and good luck in the remainder of your games. If P Ridge does not take care of NSWR then I am sure that Grayson will.

Fans need to understand that it takes all 11 players to play winning football. Despite a couple of high profile injuries to the Rams the other players continue to do an outstanding job. Grayson will be the legitimate favorite in every game they play.

Everyone wants to place Stephenson's demise on the coaches. The coaches don't suit up. I see the players reading their won press. When you have that much talent on a team, the (Seniors) have to take control on the side lines. It seems that everyone, the fans the players were more impressed with the number of D-1 players than the other talent. You can have a team full of D-1 players and still get bounced from the playoffs if you have no heart. Seems like that is the issue. No one remembers how many D-1 players you have, there are no rings or championships given for this. Stephenson went to Camden a few years back with a number of D-1 players and it was nothing nice for them. Give me a team full of players who can work together on and off the field and we can do some things. These players are concerned about getting better. But a team "loaded" with D-1 prospects are only counting letters from schools, the focus is not as great. My advise would be to not concern yourselves with the number of D-1 prospects and learn how to develope the other players. As far as the players, stop reading your press clippings and get in the film room and weight room, that's where champions are made, not in the press.

10-7 Northside WR. think PRHS has finally come alive and our guys are confident and will play a good game, and I believe Northside is beatable, but it's hard for me to pick PRHS when playing at the MAC. Peachtree Ridge matches up well against Northside and can beat the Eagles, I think it's anyones game.

I always say its harder to beat a team twice in the same season. Having said that, I don't think Grayson wants to play Camden again. Ask McEachern after beating Brookwood in the dome!!

BulldawgBite said "WHOA! you held Grayson and their high powered offense to 14! Geez we might as well forfeit because grayson has such a great offense and all. they only have a high offensive average because they play terrible defenses the whole year. look at how theyve done in the playoffs 21 points each game against mediocre teams."

Let's see, we played Camdem County (the defending state champs), Warner Robins, Dacula, South Gwinnett, Parkview, Brookwood to mention a few. All but Parkview and Warner Robins made it to the playoffs and they could have had the ball bounced a little different. Yep, you got us, we played some weaker teams as well in our region. We have to lay who the GHSA says we have to play and some of those teams are having off years. We have nothing to do about that except to try to schedule strong teams for the out of region games - see above.

Playoffs, well you might want to play those teams before you call them mediocre. Don't forget style points don't count in the standings and we are 2-0 so far in the playoffs after a 10-0 season. I have lost track of who you are FOR but I think it is North Gwinnett. If you want to talk style points, check the rankings. Grayson is ranked higher than any other team in GA. If you are going to badmouth us, at least do it for something that counts!

BulldawgBite;

Suwanee 0wnz did a good job explaining the way Gwinnett builds stadiums. At the newer schools, I think they grade and sod the field and provide the lights; after that it is up to the boosters. I know at Grayson, the boosters have provided both sets of bleachers and press boothes, both concession stands, rest rooms, ticket house, the field house, the weight room building, etc. They too pay a pretty penny for the kids to play and the booster club provides uniforms, helmets, game day meals etc. I'm sure the south GA teams do as well. I grew up in DeKalb County (go Blue Devils!) and the county has never provided stadiums for all of the high schools. During the growth period in DeKalb, the older schools had stadiums and the new ones got to share those or special built multiple school stadiums such as Memorial Stadium - nominally Clarkston's home stadium but in reallity a schared facility. Different Times, different philosophies, different places.

Just as you guys are sick of hearing about the weak region of Camden, we are sick of hearing that everybody is jealous of Camden. Granted they have been one of the more dominant teams since 2000, but with only two titles AND that weak region, that hardly makes them the envy of anyone. Lowndes, LaGrange, Parkview, Charlton County, and Buford all won at LEAST 3 TITLES this decade. Those are programs that are worthy of jealousy if there are any!!! Let me guess, Im jealous of Camden too right lol!!!!

2 or 3 drives like the one at the end of the game against Lowndes and Camden wins easily!! Best defense against a spread is Ball control and a good running game!!! I think the Ogletree boys put a hurting on Pemberton

Camden 17 NG 14
Newnan 28 Grayson 20 UPSET SPECIAL Callaway 35 Fitz 31 DOUBLE UPSET SPECIAL Colquitt 35 Lassiter 31
