SouthGA Rules (or can I call you “South”? ;-) ) – true about Wesleyan when they were in targuably the toughest AA region in the state, having to get past Buford AND GAC. GAC was in its prime back then as well, and not the pathetic shadow of a program that it has been the past couple of years. I’ll grant you this one. Wesleyan could get to the quarters, MAYBE the semis in AA, but in the end, it’ll be Gwinnett’s OTHER Wolves taking it home again.

What is the highest amount of combined points in GA HS football history? I bet Lassiter and South Gwinnett will beat it. There will be a air show for sure. Neither defense is that great……they just try to out score the other teams. Would not be surprised to see over a 100 points combined. Whoever has the ball last will win.

Yup, Grayson games are boring and unimpressive. But they win and frustrates everybody that plays them. Might not run up scores or air it out much. They get 3 or 4 yards a carry and move the chains. Biggest thrill is when they hit on defense. Grayson would lead it. But the stat that Grayson really cares is the amount of W’s they have, especially at home. I do not think Grayson has ever lost a home playoff game. Is that true?

MLK all the pressure is on Newnan to live to these folks expectations; you just do you and we will see at the end of the fourth quarter tonight who’ll advance! Good Luck Lions…your fans are behind you ALL THE WAY!

SouthGA Rules – I can one-up you on Gwinnett roads. I recall riding up Hwy 78 going to the old Belevedere Shopping Center and it was two lanes all the way to the beginning of Memorial Drive, which was a massive four-laner (without medians)…..then Gwinnett was completely paved over….

MLK Band Mom – ought to be a hell of a game tonight with Newnan, but speaking as a former UGA Redcoat trumpet, I do know that the MLK band will RULE halftime!! Haven’t been able to see the Lions yet this year, but the band has never disappointed.Sharp marching, flat-out blow-the-paint-off-the-walls sound…..awesome!! SWD’s vaunted band is no match for the Lions.

TJ: Not in AAAAA, but in 2002 Grayson lost to Cedartown in the 2nd round in the AAA playoffs according to the ghsfha.com website. I’m with you on the Lassiter-South game. South’s best chance is ball control to keep Mason on the sidelines.

SouthGARules – right you are! The old shopping center that had a Sears on one and and a Davison’s on the other (with a killer candy counter…>drool< ) is now just another corner Wally World. The other shopping center is across Columbia on the left and is still there, albeit VERY different.

Kind of hard to look at past games–especially early to determine what may happen.Pridge scored 17 at Lowndes(the most there Def gave up only did that twice) 21 of the blow out points were off miscues so the score was a little misleading–no doubt Lowndes was superior.–But not 5 touchdowns better. Still a spanking—- good lesson early on.
North Gwinnett—If PRidge coaching doesn’t make 4 Bill Belichick play calls— NG would be a # 2 seed right now. I just don’t see NG as powerfull as the ranking. Pridge tried to give Kell the game last Friday for 3 qtrs and still did pull it out. a team that never gives up is very dangerous when there backs are against the wall.( Also starting QB was hurt) bad night but made it happen, Can’t do that or it will cost Pridge against Brookwood. IF they can play a complete game –should handle Brookwood easily . Will be fun as it is the first time these two have ever met.Mistakes-Mistakes can’t make them this time of year—even the most vaunted can go down if you are not at your best.
As far as the draw , Camden and Lowndes meeting in the second round—so what you have to meet sooner or later–take care of business–the draw doesn’t matter.
PS I doubt football bloggers are “haters”.because they don’t agree. Find another word.

Must just be cuz its a waste of time cuz a) they wont listen to anybody but their babbling selves and b) we’re going to win so it doesn’t really matter, they’ll be gone and unheard of next week. ;) Fear the double-double-u!!! Good luck to all teams tonight.

For all the Camden fans, this is not our year, our year is next year, we are ahead of schedule which is not bad, but don’t get your hope’s up. The Vikings are better this year and there only lose game due to them not showing up and this is coming from a Die hard Cat fan. Should be a good game first half with the Vikes passing game taking over. Good luck and pray for no injuries to all teams.

It’s hard to take your analysis serious because of your apparent South Georgia bias. I see a very real pattern in your predictions. What makes you think that Stephenson all of a sudden will fall apart at home and commit ‘penalties, penalties, penalties’???????????

Grayson has had some close calls–that will happen throughout a season–tough to go undefeated at ANY level. Question is how many more poundings can Pemberton take. Can Roswell score on that defense? This one is very close. If home field is worth anything–it will be in this one.

TJ i doubt that south gwinnett and lassiter will break the record. the highest amount ive heard of was south cobbs win over collins hill in either 2001 or 2002 1st round. 70-68! 6 overtimes! thats gonna be hard to beat. should still be a high scoring game though. NG is gettin ready to take woodstock behind the woodshed and beat them into a pulp. as good as their defense is, our offense is better. this game will be won by 2 touchdowns.

BulldawgBite: The game you are referencing was in 2004. However, Collins Hill won 70-68. I remember being there & thinking it would be the neverending game. With the exception of December 7th, 2001, the greatest win in Collins Hill history. I know that’s not saying much, but you have to take what you get.
Go UG!, UGfan, UG girl & the rest of the UG nation: To be honest, I would imagine you would garner a lot of support from the Brookwood & Peachtree Ridge fans. If you win, you would host Brookwood or travel to Suwanee for the quarters.

It’s going to be a GREAT game tonight. Thanks to top-tier coaching, the Trojans keep their heads in the game every play and are very mentally tough and mature. Lassiter just knows how to win. Go Trojans!

southgarules, # 51 that you talked about for newnans defense is middle linebacker adam strakose. he is also the defensive captain. he is also getting some good looks from d-1 and d-2 schools. gametime 7:30 tonight.

Wow – 6 overtimes and a total of 138 points will be hard to beat! South Gwinnett and Lassiter should get high in points, around a 100, but I am not sure about reaching 138. South does have a running game, wonder if they break out the Grayson philosophy of ball and clock control to keep other offense off field. The score would be a lot lower then. If either Lassiter or South Gwinnett could muster a defense, they would be heading to the dome.

What is the deal with Camden’s QB situation. The Junior take it over? Lowndes did not have to travel far so they should be ok for the game. Nothing like 2 Wing T teams duking it out. I bet total rushing yards combined will be sick from that game.

A lot of people seem to be doubting the validity of Grayson. I’m not going to lie, I’m slightly worried about this game with Roswell. We have an injury bug going around and I’m willing to bet we’d blow through the first few rounds with ease if we were fully healthy. I know to all lot of people, Grayson football is boring, but hey, whatever it takes to win. That’s all we care about. This game with Roswell will be a good test for us, but I see us putting them away in the thrid quarter for good. I say 31-17 Grayson and I’m liking an upset of MLK over Newnan.

Also, good luck to brookwood, despite how much I despise them. I picked Mcachern to go to the semis, but Brookwood took them out, and Peachtree Ridge doesn’t look all that great. I’m gonna say 14-13, Brookwood upsets.

cougarfan: Thanks for the info. I was at the Newnan-Valdosta game last week & was impressed with him & the Ogletree twins. I know Alec is a stud, but Zander is no slouch. Good luck tonight against MLK.
TJ: I could see a score like the last time they played, (45-42, in 1999).
Lassiter-South & Lowndes-Camden: Two extremes. One game, the only time the ball is in the air is when it’s kicked. The other: the ball in the air all night. Just wondering which will be greater: The number of running plays @ South-Lassiter or number of passes @ Lowndes-Camden?

NSWR Eagle 98

November 20th, 2009
12:53 pm

ok here is my take, NSWR always comes ready to play! We never take any team as a pushover. so Union Grove bring your A Game because we play every game like it’s a playoff game. It’s a reason we have not lost a home Game in the regular season since 1996, and a home playoff game since 2004(newnan you better hope we don’t play each other)it is because We play hard, We hit you hard, and at the End of the Night we Win Hard! i’ve seen our Team this Year and you can’t just single out one player and say he’s the Star. for NSWR has one motto,” if i don’t, WE Wont!” Union Grove We respect You, and the only thing we can say is we’ll see you tonight! You all have some great players, so do we! but Big Time Players make Big Plays in Big Games!!who’s gonna make a play 2nite for you all? Go Eagles!

Grayson Student: Anybody that doubts Grayson is definitely selling them short. I have seen them play 3 times (WR, South, Brookwood) this year & saw them versus Lowndes & P’Tree Ridge last year. Offensively, they may be boring, but defense wins championships. I did not see the Marietta game, but from the reports it sounded like the Camden game to open the season-a special teams breakdown that resulted in a score & not much allowed by the D.

grayram

November 20th, 2009
1:06 pm

Grayson dominated the time of poss and the rushing yardage. I think Marietta ended with 4 total first downs. They just didn’t put them away and gave up a kick return and a long pass play. Roswell should be a great game Graysons coach seems impressed with them

” They are very physical and very competitive,” Conn said.
“You can tell that they’re a program that’s won before. They’re disciplined. They play hard. They’re well-coached”

The big wide receiver good give Grayson alot of trouble

The Hornets feature a potent passing attack led by 6-foot-5 wide receiver Chris Boyd, a Vanderbilt commitment.

Should be a fun game to watch.

Ok I have got to say this, Everyone must play their “A” game now..it is the palyoffs if anyone takes a team too lightly..they will be going home for the year…luckily…the coaches keep these young athletes focused on the job at hand.Would everyone please stop jumping on Camden County about the region they should or shouldn’t be in..they don’t decide that issue the The Georgia High School Athletic Commission does..so lay off of Camden County..and learn what the rules are before you blame the school or the county. Just because they beat up on eveyone is not a reason to move them either…get better coaches and give them a better challenge if you don’t like losing to them then beat them…and then you can stop hearing from them ok…

I would like to thank all of the Lowndes and Camden fans for not bashing each other. We all know that this is going to be the best game played tonight and that both teams will be playing their hearts out. For all of the North GA teams if you look back on the past 6 years South GA has won 5 of the State Championship Games. Lowndes with 3 and Camden with 2. As a huge Camden fan I am not taking anything for granite tonight. This game could go either way. Lowndes and Camden both have alot of fan support. I just hope that I will have a voice tomorrow.
