hsfootball fan Newnan has 11 new starters on offense they have looked like it in the first halves of tough games the QB was actually not the original starter he started because of a ankle sprain to the starter and has never been dethroned he has improved and the offensive coordinator is not afraid to adjust I think they are “gelling” at the right time of course energy from the Ogletrees and Ransby playing on offense has helped….Newnan wins with their Defense and as long as turnovers from the offense and /or Special teams breakdowns don’t put them in bad positions they should go far….

tho answer the Newnan question. yes they can move the ball consistently. Also the miss match created when you line #39 up at receiver not to many 6-4 220 lb recievers

hsfootball fan, NG is allowing under 9 points a game. while lassiter is horrible on defense but they do score more points than NG. if they have an off night they could be in trouble though i.e. (McEachern). Also south gwinnett loves to pass the ball. i believe tomorrow night that south gwinnett beats lassiter by at least 1 touchdown.

hsfootball fan- Parkview was pretty balanced when they won 3 straight AAAAA titles. they had Jeff Francouer on those teams and he was a big time threat as a receiver and an outstanding safety on defense. unless you have overpowering o-lines like Lowndes or Camden, i think most teams that win championships in Georgia, regardless of classification, are balanced on offense

lowndes will do just fine, no matter where they play. The only one that could beat Lowndes, is Lowndes, case in point, NSWR, game, we had 5 chances to win, We simply beat our selves coach Mac will have the vikes ready to go. Good luck Camden Cates, but not enough to win LOL

And all you other pro Camden people. This travel talk for Camden will all be mute if the teams that are presently in 5-A stay in the lower classes they are assigned. Then Camden will have no other choice but to play in the region in what is now region 1 5-A with other 5-A school’s where they belong. I keep hearing about the hardship for Camden what about the poor school’s in their region they’ve been thrashing for the past 8 year’s?????????? Why do those kid’s have to suffer the humilation of getting beat by 40-50 point’s every game…….doesn’t seem decent or fair……… You people need to get a grip.

hsfootball fan: Lassiter is surely a passing team, moderate running success, not a strong defense. North Gwinnett is a very balanced team. The operate from the spread, but most of their O success comes from running the ball with #30, #2, and the QB #10. The NG defense has arguably been better than their offense this year. Toughest games have been a 14-11 win over Prattville and a 21-7 win over P-Ridge(with 7 points coming from an INT return.)
Woodstock defense is great, and should be a great game between WS and NG. I think that in the 3rd round whoever has homefield in the North/Woodstock vs Camden/Lowndes game will be favored. With all of the talk about how great Camden and Lowndes are, the winner will be met with an equally tough game in the next round.

Predictions for the 2nd round of playoffs:
Newnan over MLK Ogletree twins & #51 key a stingy defense
Grayson over Roswell Rams win on ball control & defense
Greenville over Wilcox County Coach Jeremy Williams
Lassiter over South Tough to pick. However, if South goes to the Mickey Conn school of ball control & is able to keep Lassiter offense off the field, South could pull the upset.
Stephenson over Colquitt Another tough pick. However, back to back metro Atlanta trips for the Packers & Stephenson with something to prove.
North Gwinnett over Woodstock North defense holds down Woodstock
Buford over Jefferson Losing to Lovett a blessing in disguise.
Brookwood over P’Tree Ridge Brookwood has improved over season, not sure if the Ridge has.
Tucker over Sandy Creek
SWD over Clarke Central
Apalachee over Marist
St Pius over North Hall
Flowery Branch over Grady
Lovett over East Jackson
Wesleyan over Bowdon Sets up a potential QF meeting with Greenville
Potential QF AAAAA games
Lowndes @ North Gwinnett
Newnan vs Grayson
Brookwood @ NSWR
Stephenson vs Lassiter
Good luck to all teams & safe travels for everyone.
Condolences to the Seiler family on the passing of UGA VII.

After week long deliberations with all parties involved with Union Grove athletics, it has been decided that the Wolverines will call it a season and not travel to Warner Robins to face Northside. With all the talk that has taken place on the various blogs and message boards, team officials convinced themselves that NSWR was too strong, too big, too fast and just too good. Members of the administration were overheard saying things like, “Why make the trip..Northside beat us last year”, or “I heard that Region 1 teams are just like the SEC” and finally this, “The BOE ought to be happy now, we’re budgeting wisely and killing extracurricular activities at the same time.” The telepathic powers of a ghost are quite incredible. Woof!
The diehard Region 1 bloggers can rest easy now. ENR can spend a little more time sitting behind the monitor watching YouTube videos of the ‘dancing bands’…not too much time though ENR, you know how that really gets you worked up.
Reeze–you can continue to prognosticate and thump your chest about the greatness that abounds in Region 1. One suggestion from a dumb stinking mutt, don’t try to use the results of one year to pre-determine the outcome of a current year….it tends to make one look foolish. Case in point – Dawg fans and our football team.
To the Camden haters — Jealous I say, just jealous. Personally I didn’t like them either because they’re cats.
Dosta followers — your program is dead, just like me. As a mutt, I just didn’t like cats.
LC brethren — the best team money can buy in Lowndes County, but then again what else is there to spend your money?
Colquitt County – Swine…what else can be said.
Brookwood Mom – I’ll be thinking of you when I’m in mutt heaven. The greatest thing during my short stint as the short, ugly nadlicking mascot was that my droopy eyes were always peeking up the cheerleader’s skirts. Call me a chauvinistic mutt, but what else did I have to look forward to. Oh, by the way…what do women know about football?
WIth that said, I’d like to leave each of you with these parting thoughts. As you all know by now, I died earlier today. The stated cause of death was due to a heart attack, however that report was a lie. I committed suicide in the face of an impending blowout by Georgia Tech.
You all will probably here a lot of rumors and innuendo regarding my death, but in the face of death I am hear to speak the truth. I was able to provide Ed Tolley, yes that Ed Tolley, with the following statement that will appear in all publications regarding my untimely demise. It has been confirmed that the cause of death was poisoning. Willie Martinez found Uga VII in a supply closet in Sanford Stadium, lapping up some industrial strength cleaner that had leaked out of a container onto the floor. “Stop! Stop!” Willie yelled. Unfortunately, Willie can’t get a dawg to stop anything.

Just for the record, Douglass (Atlanta) and Greenbrier (near Augusta)are 145 miles apart and are in the same AAAAA region. If Camden is put in Region 1, its situation would be similar to Greenbrier’s.

Camden has had some great teams but this simply is not one of them. No one can seriously think they have a chance against Lowndes except the most die hard Camden fans. Lowndes should have this game wrapped up by the third quarter at the latest. Lowndes plays smash mouth football and I dont think Camden has a team this year that can answer back. Maybe next year for Camden.

If Sandy Creek gets beat by Tucker and I suspect they will, their high rankings in the polls should always be suspect. They always seem to be ranked high in the polls and then get eliminated very early in the playoffs. This would say a lot about the level of competition in their region.

IMO, for what its worth, Here are my picks:
Peachtree Ridge over Brookwood (Sorry BROOKWOOD MOM)
Newnan over MLK (Should be a close, awesome game)
Woodstock over North Gwinnett (Slight upset)
Lowndes over Camden County (Lowndes will win it all)
Roswell over Grayson (Grayson not that impressive)
Union Grove over Northside WR (Union Grove peaking at the right time)
Lassiter over South Gwinnett (Lassiter “O” way too much for SG “D”)
Stephenson over Colquitt County (Speed, Speed, Speed!!)
I’m probably wrong on most picks!! But my picks are as good as any!!
Go Woodstock and most of all…GO HOYAS!! (NEXT YEAR!!)

We are pulling for the Comets to beat Lassiter. South can beat them if they take advantage of any mistakes from Lassiter. Their QB is really really good and he’s going to throw for alot of yards. South’s offense will have to keep answering and hopefully force a turnover or two.
Good luck

One of the best games in the area is being overlooked here – Marist at Apalachee tonight up 316 in the Greater Metropolitan Winder area. Marist, tons of respect for the War Eagles, but more love for my Wildcats! The ‘Chee, in a close one, goes to 12-0 and the quarterfinals. 24-17, Wildcats.

Hoya Chuck, no way does Woodstock get past North Gwinnett. The Bulldogs are as solid a team on both sides of the ball as I have seen in a long time. Not a lot of flash, but before you know it, you’re down 21 and wondering what hit you. Been that way all season.

Dennis: Bowdon over Wesleyan?? Look Boss, de plane, de plane!!! Wesleyan has not been seriously challenged all season, and could probably roll through AA as well. Wolves put it away in the third quarter on the way to repeating as Class A champions.

pity poor monroe area: Greater Metropolitan Winder area? Is that an oxymoron or tongue-in-cheek?
I know that area has built up with Target, Publix & Belk among others so the folks in Barrow County do not have to go to Athens or Lawrenceville, but that sounds strange to me.

pity poor monroe area: You might be stretching the probability of Wesleyan rolling thru AA a little bit. When they were in AA, they were a #4 seed at best & a first round playoff exit as well. I think Buford, Calhoun, Fitzgerald, Charlton among others would take them.
