Camden is an awesome team. This year and in previous years. I think there close losses to Grayson and Hoover displayed how good they are, not that they had fallen from their perch. Games like that improve the team and Camden should be commended and respected for seeking out competition like that.

If North were going to Kingsland for this game, then there would be little chance that North would win. With Camden coming to Suwanee, at least North has a chance to win the game.

Anybody who thinks Camden should not be the favorite in this game is not paying attention to football in Georgia. Camden has an awesome team and perhaps the best coaching staff in the state.

I knew Lowndes would have a very tough time this playoff season going on the road to both Kingsland and Suwanee. And I said so. All in all, North’s chances would be much better against Lowndes than Camden.

Anybody who disses Camden is just jealous of their continuing success. This should be an outstanding game, and I think Camden has to be a slight favorite.

Yo not defending the Packers but Lowndes did NOT beat us. We beat ourselves. Your beloved Randy Hickpherson said so himself. Take a look at Colquitt County/Moultrie High Schools records since 1913. Then again look at Lowndes since they begin play. Count up the LOSING seasons. Then get back with me. GO PACK GO!!

North Gwinette has great football team. We (Camden) will have to play our best game to win; however, playing on the road is really not a concern for the Wildcats. Last year we had to go into a very hostile environment at Newnan. We probably played our best game against them. The following Saturday we drove another 6 hours and beat Pridge in the dome for the Stae Championship. Best of luck to North Gwinette. The Wildcats will always show class. I am sure we will be ready for the tough environment.

Go Pack Go- Yes, CC was in the redzone 3 times against Lowndes and turned it over…but thats what good teams do. they buckle down and force turnovers. Lowndes beat CC. no other way to say it. now you could certaintly say it should have been close than 31-6 because the stats obviously suggest that…but you cant say Lowndes didnt beat us. Im just glad the Packers are in the 3rd round. i actually like our chances against Lassiter more so than i did against Stephenson because we are more athletic than Lassiter. Stephenson’s talent is downright scary. we had to find ways to compensate for their outstanding defense. we used our own great defense and big time special teams play to get the win. i really believe Lassiter is a one man machine in Mason. our defense is probably the most athletic and physical defense he has seen all year.

Just as you guys are sick of hearing about the weak region of Camden, we are sick of hearing that everybody is jealous of Camden. Granted they have been one of the more dominant teams since 2000, but with only two titles AND that weak region, that hardly makes them the envy of anyone. Lowndes, LaGrange, Parkview, Charlton County, and Buford all won at LEAST 3 TITLES this decade. Those are programs that are worthy of jealousy if there are any!!! Let me guess, Im jealous of Camden too right lol!!!!

BulldawgBite;

Suwanee 0wnz did a good job explaining the way Gwinnett builds stadiums. At the newer schools, I think they grade and sod the field and provide the lights; after that it is up to the boosters. I know at Grayson, the boosters have provided both sets of bleachers and press boothes, both concession stands, rest rooms, ticket house, the field house, the weight room building, etc. They too pay a pretty penny for the kids to play and the booster club provides uniforms, helmets, game day meals etc. I’m sure the south GA teams do as well. I grew up in DeKalb County (go Blue Devils!) and the county has never provided stadiums for all of the high schools. During the growth period in DeKalb, the older schools had stadiums and the new ones got to share those or special built multiple school stadiums such as Memorial Stadium – nominally Clarkston’s home stadium but in reallity a schared facility. Different Times, different philosophies, different places.

BulldawgBite said “WHOA! you held Grayson and their high powered offense to 14! Geez we might as well forfeit because grayson has such a great offense and all. they only have a high offensive average because they play terrible defenses the whole year. look at how theyve done in the playoffs 21 points each game against mediocre teams.”

Let’s see, we played Camdem County (the defending state champs), Warner Robins, Dacula, South Gwinnett, Parkview, Brookwood to mention a few. All but Parkview and Warner Robins made it to the playoffs and they could have had the ball bounced a little different. Yep, you got us, we played some weaker teams as well in our region. We have to lay who the GHSA says we have to play and some of those teams are having off years. We have nothing to do about that except to try to schedule strong teams for the out of region games – see above.

Playoffs, well you might want to play those teams before you call them mediocre. Don’t forget style points don’t count in the standings and we are 2-0 so far in the playoffs after a 10-0 season. I have lost track of who you are FOR but I think it is North Gwinnett. If you want to talk style points, check the rankings. Grayson is ranked higher than any other team in GA. If you are going to badmouth us, at least do it for something that counts!

10-7 Northside WR. think PRHS has finally come alive and our guys are confident and will play a good game, and I believe Northside is beatable, but it’s hard for me to pick PRHS when playing at the MAC. Peachtree Ridge matches up well against Northside and can beat the Eagles, I think it’s anyones game.

Everyone wants to place Stephenson’s demise on the coaches. The coaches don’t suit up. I see the players reading their won press. When you have that much talent on a team, the (Seniors) have to take control on the side lines. It seems that everyone, the fans the players were more impressed with the number of D-1 players than the other talent. You can have a team full of D-1 players and still get bounced from the playoffs if you have no heart. Seems like that is the issue. No one remembers how many D-1 players you have, there are no rings or championships given for this. Stephenson went to Camden a few years back with a number of D-1 players and it was nothing nice for them. Give me a team full of players who can work together on and off the field and we can do some things. These players are concerned about getting better. But a team “loaded” with D-1 prospects are only counting letters from schools, the focus is not as great. My advise would be to not concern yourselves with the number of D-1 prospects and learn how to develope the other players. As far as the players, stop reading your press clippings and get in the film room and weight room, that’s where champions are made, not in the press.

I don’t think Grayson has to justify their program to anyone, Fred. You fought through injuries and adversity and still keep putting “W”s on the board. Way go go Rams! Happy Thanksgiving and good luck in the remainder of your games. If P Ridge does not take care of NSWR then I am sure that Grayson will.

Fans need to understand that it takes all 11 players to play winning football. Despite a couple of high profile injuries to the Rams the other players continue to do an outstanding job. Grayson will be the legitimate favorite in every game they play.

Fred i just said that your offense is ranked so high because of the terrible defenses you play all year. besides warner robins camden and roswell you havent played a good defense. when you get 50 points against teams like berkmar and meadowcreek that boosts your offense. grayson is simply not an offensive team as much as they are defensive. against good defensive teams they should not expect to score more than 14 but their defense has to hold teams to under that amount. i picked Grayson to lose this week against newnan. i just dont see where grayson will get points from besides special teams. and as far as you said grayson is higher than NG… it depends on which polls you decide to look at. you are ahead in rivals but not maxpreps. so if you are going to badmouth me at least check your sources

Good luck against NSWR, Quinn. While that game was a tough loss for Brookwood, it accomplished exactly what I was hoping. That game restored the confidence of P Ridge players and coaches so that they will play at the level they can.

I think NSWR is going to have a very tough time scoring on the P Ridge defense. I would expect no more than 7 or 10 points from NSWR. In the mean time, I just do not think NSWR can stop Lombardo and Roby for a whole game. This game was tailor made to showcase the P Ridge talent. But KICK THE BALL on 4th down. Go get ‘em Lions!

Suwanee 0wnz, thanks. I have been very impressed with the other running backs and te job they have done. Yes, if Ean Pemberton is not on the offense, we lose a little of the explosiveness but #7, #14 and #41 can get it done when they are asked. Santry has done a great job at QB and throws well enough to command respect from the opposing defense. That helps when they start stacking the line to slow the rush. In fact we had several good pass plays that contributed to the win Friday night.

I think the depth has been pretty good this year. I have also been impressed with the smaller kids! They might not be a Terry Williams size (6′+ 275lbs) but they make up for it with their speed and play.

Friday’s game was certainly a nail-bitter and I spent most of it working the gates! I had also heard of the Marist coach showing some unsportsmanlike behavior, but I didn’t have that trouble with the Marist fans that came through my gate.

Good job to both teams and a big congrats to our Chee boys who put everything on the line for this win. When it came time to decide whether to go for the two-point conversion, Coach Davis left the decision to the offensive coordinator and the players and everyone agreed to go for it. The Chee cats may not be the best team when it comes to offense or defense but when it comes to heart, they are in it to win it.

I’m also glad that the next game will be at Apalachee. Try not to get lost finding us, Griffin fans! And don’t be ashamed if you do. The school has been tricky to find for other teams as well. It might be quicker going through the back roads than trying to get on to the highway. I’m speaking from personal experience as someone who sometimes visits friends in Zebulon. If you’re worried about whether you’ll find a place to eat when you visit, we’ve got McDonald’s, pizza and Chinese food nearby. There’s also Publix and Target as well.

I hope everyone has a happy Thanksgiving!

BulldawgBite, I did my research. In most of the polls I checked, Rivals, Max Preps, Maxwell, AJC, Todd Holcomb’s poll whose name escapes me, Grayson is ranked higher. But in the end, it doesn’t matter. All that matters is W/L and making it to the Dome. Just as I don’t know your program very well, you don’t know Grayson. The Grayson team that is on the field now not is not the same team from earlier in the season. I would hope the NG team has progressed over the year as well. I attended all but two of the Grayson games and I can assure you that the scores and the media reports do *not* reflect the true games. We have not looked good several weeks and have looked great others. The reports on the Roswell game still don’t capture the flavor of the game. Grayson controlled that game much better than the score might suggest. The Rams always do what they have to in order to win. Look at time of posession and total yards, etc, and you *might* get a better idea of who Grayson is. There have been several high powered offenses that thought they were going to walk all over us and got surprised. There have been strong defenses that thought they could shut the Rams down and they got surprised in the end as well.

Because Grayson is a relatively new program it has been very easy to take shots at us and our abilities this season and that is okay, it comes with being ranked number one in the state and in the top ten nationally. As I think one of the Lowndes, Valdosta or Camdem posters said earlier in the season, everyone has been watching Grayson to see how they handled going from being the hunter to the hunted this year. I’d say we have passed that test pretty good so far. It could end next Friday but I really expect us to be in the Dome this year.

At the end of the year the team with the trophy is the one with the bragging rights. I expect that to be us. If for some reason it is not, I will be here to congratulate the team that wins. After all, it is a game for kids played by kids and we don’t need to lose sight of that.

Have a great week and good luck next Friday – you will need it.

Sgt Chris:

Yes Grayson should be favored at home vs Newnan.
Believe it or not Grayson would also be favored against Lagrange.

I beleive Newnan will be the toughest team Grayson has faced. Camden was 1st game and they are much better now than when Grayson played them. For Newnan Grayson will have to play their best game to win, as it should be in a 3rd round playoff game.

North Gwinn over Camden?
I think so. Haven’t seen North in person this year but I beleive they are a little stronger than the pridge team Camden beat by 7 last year and this Camden team maybe not quite as strong as last year. Since North is at home I will pick them. North may have the most overall balance of any team, strong defense, strong running, strong passing.

Peachtree Ridge played for the title last year and played well, losing to Camden by 7 on a late TD.
This year because of an early season loss on the road to a strong lowndes team many people here have wanted to laugh at them or say a team was “peachtree ridged” or even say they are soft.
Having had a few chances to see them play i believe they are more than capable of beating the Eagles at home.

Good luck to everyone

Go Gwinnett!!!

Just skimmed through – wanted to point a few things out.

1) The band playing mid-play is NO LONGER against GHSA rules. Although in your opinion you may see it as disrespect it was changed last year. I disagree with the change as well, but it’s not our call to make.

2) I am a current senior at NGHS and as for our fan base, you can easily expect 7,000-8,000 fans of our own for the NG vs Camden game. Without a doubt, this is going to be the biggest game for NG up-to-date.

3) As for “class” and “sportsmanship” you cannot ACTUALLY expect a bunch of high school rebellious teenagers to be “cool” and “chill” at games versus big rivals, in big games. Of course you are going to have the ones trying to start stuff, that’s something people need to learn and accept.

In my opinion, I don’t see Camden getting more than 14 points. Our defense is in tip-top shape right now, I truly do not see them giving up more than 2 touchdowns — IF THAT. As for our offense CJ’s leg injury continues to haunt us in each game. It gets healthy throughout the week but then one wrong hit during the game puts it back to where it started. We can’t afford to sit him out any in the game vs Camden. This game is one for the book, UNDOUBTEDLY! Expect to see one hell of a game friday ladies and gentlemen.

I’m sorry, I just did a little research and apparently —

“3. Bands are not to play during live-ball situations.

NOTE: This includes the situation in which there is no timeout and the teams are in a huddle.

(a) If, during a football game, a team claims interference with communications due to band noise, the Referee shall give a warning to one or both head coaches and the bands must cease playing.

(b) If there is a second offense by the same school’s band, an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty will be imposed against that school’s team.”

So it is up to the COACH to point it out to the ref’s as an interference. If they don’t then the ref’s let it go.

Good points fred, in the games that you do give up a lot of points (South Gwinnett, Parkview) the offense performs. Grayson is a winner. plain and simple it is almost never pretty lol but they find a way to get it done which is what counts. i have them losing the game this week but i may be wrong. i have newnan in the final and they are a top tier program. NG will need to bring their A game, but so will Camden. i think NG has a better chance of bringing their A game considering it is at home and camden will be traveling.

A GHS Bear In Texas,

I remember the trips to Valdosta in ‘78 and ‘80, the nailbiters with Morrow, Fayette County, Newnan, and LaGrange. It seemed we played them forever, along with R.E. Lee in Thomaston until ‘77 or so. I was a band member in ‘80 when Lowndes shut us down in the title game, but we tied (beat) Valdosta in ‘78 down there. You guys had some great players on the field in those days. We did have a good crowd but hanging 27 on us you make it sound like it was domination it was not!! Camden played on our side of the field most of the first half becuse of 2 turnovers they did not have a drive greater than 35 yards all night 1 turnover was unforced they scored on their second possesion after another fumble on a flukish 4th down play… Newnan never recovered Newnan came out and scored a TD in the 3rd quarter (the game should have been tied at that point) the last TD Camden had was late after the Newnan squad turned it over on downs in their own territory… Bulldawg… My advice to the North Gwinnett team is to not to think to highly of this team they are a solid team who capitilizes on mistakes Play your game and take care of the ball… The Newnan Team looked like a deer in headlights and played the 1st half of football that way….They are just like any other football team in the state that is left.
Playoffs determine the best Team and they can only line up 11 not 111 !!!

I’ve attended the last 26 games that Grayson has played- with a record of 25-1 btw. I’ve seen a lot of high school football in my time– but there is something different about this program. These kids will chew their leg off before they will go down w/out a fight. The spirit of this team, this program– it’s just different. You’ve got two kids out there that literally have no ACL & their injuries are fresh! But they’re playing, doing what they can to get it done. The person that commentted stating that if special teams doesn’t score the Rams won’t put points on the board. You don’t have a clue. The Roswell game was unique in the fact that 2 scores came off special teams.

As far as Newnan is concerned- best defense wins this game. If high scoring games are the only way to impress this forum neither team will win that prize this week. It’s going to be a war–

I’m sure you will be making that trip up there and I’ll be depending on phone calls again to keep up with what’s happening.

Good Job RamsFan The two best defenses in the state will match up, I expect it to be a close game.. Both teams rely on their defenses to create field position and hold suit if the offenses do lapse, the difference may be special teams; a turnover can change momentum either way I expect alot of heart will be playing and that is something you cannot measure…. Good Luck to the Rams regardless of the outcome
