Wow!! What a great game! To the Lowndes players and fans great time!!! I have nothing but respect for all of you you came out in full force and we all watched a heck of a hard hitting defensive game. As for everyone referring to the actions of the Lowndes teams last year at Grayson I saw nothing of the sort! I enjoyed talking to the Lowndes fans and can’t wait for next week!!!! Hope we win the coin toss!

Sorry about the results SWD. :-) I feel for your players but not for a lot of your fans who thought SWD were the best thing since the invention of face masks. I am really interested in reading what the EXCUSES will be this time???? Lets see, can’t use the weather excuse like last year when the Mighty Bears thumped ya….probably the refs…or maybe the bad coaching was the reason….oh wait…Clarke Central has more Caucasian players ..maybe you can pull THAT card??? I’m sure the ones who have the GUTS enough will step up and admit the truth which is they simply GOT BEAT by a SUPPOSEDLY inferior team. Congrats to the fine players of your team for making it as far as they did. I was an adamant supporter of how much talent was on SWD this year. It is sort of sad the playoffs are a one and done deal, because I really feel that Griffin and SWD were the two top teams in the state. And CONGRATS TO NORTH CLAYTON TOO! Region 4 is represented very well thank you very much and have a nice off season….

Lots of folks eating crow this morning. I won’t rub salt in the wounds, though ;-) Major kudos to the defending champs in their win over Lowndes. I think everyone outside of Kingsland had counted them out before the 1st q was ever played. Congrats, maybe we will see you all in the DOME again this year. PROPS to my Peachtree Ridge Lions for taking care of biz against Brookwood. Long road to Warner Robins, but we will be there with bells. Best of luck to all teams this week.

The Lowndes team and fans showed more class and sportmanship than I have seen in years in our stadium. I used to have a bad opinion of their program but all that has changed after last night. The game was awesome and could have gone either way. I really expected Lowndes to win last night, Jeff Herron and the Wildcats showed alot of heart and focus.Like others have posted after we lost 15 starters from last year, I thought this was a rebuilding year. I hope we win the coin toss!

Hey Yo Congrats to a great season to your Vikings the missed oppurtunities in the Northside game cost you the Number 1 seed…. if you ask me Lowndes at home may be the toughest place in Georgia to go in and win but their road record at opposing fields in the playoffs is 1 win this decade…. that is just a number I know, but it is beginning a trend…..?

I like to say if stephenson does not get a new coach they will have this fate every year…Stephenson play sloppy on offense..holding,cut blocking, the grounding call was BS he was outside the pocket and bad speacial teams but with that we still should have one the game and if you watch it you no it…we gave it away and colquitt was rite there to take it like a good team should…GARTRELL YOU ARE THE STUPIDEST COACH I HAVE SEEN…how in hell do keep kicking the ball to #4,and for the love of god WHY DIDN’T YOU GO FOR THE 2PT CONVERTION? also i just want to say to the defense great game played your ass off! the kids should not be mad at them self1-5Aould cam down cuz you should ask colquitt can we play in 1-5A and hold are own..i think can even with the lose to a well coached team..no excuses from me we lost like we do every year and things won’t change til are coaching staff changes…i mean in a min if we keep gartrell are kids will be moving to gwinnett to play ball if we don’to something now…agin great game colquitt your team beat a great group of kids last nite..

Yo kind want to hear your take on last nights game. I was very impressed by the Camden defense , Lowndes spent alot of time on the Camden side of the field and only gave up 7 hell of showing by our D as well as yours! That #29 for Lowndes is fast I thought he was gonna beat us by himself for a minute there! Be on notice state of Georgia this Camden team is for real and on top of that young! Coin toss time hope we win it can’t travel next week!

My friend Inthatrenches, have you heard anything about Newnan/Grayson coin toss? It’s a shame we have a Lowdnes/Camden game this early in the play off but we have is a Gwinnett controlled GHSA making sure their teams have a easier road to the Dome. Let the big boys from regions 1,2,3,and 4 eliminate themselves . We all know what’s going on. Let’s have a real playoff and rotate this thing where you don’t have the same teams playing each other in the opening rounds. What do you think?

Valdosta @10:18p 11/20: Gimme a break. That EXCUSE was not afforded to PRidge when they went to Lowndes and got pummeled. They LOST because Camden was the better team THAT NIGHT. You Viking fans got your comeuppance last night, Lowndes is definitely beatable. Accept it and look forward to next yr, if you can make it past the 2nd round. I said I wasn’t going to rub salt, but enough already. I yearn for the day that Lowndes makes another trip to North Ga.

I cannot understand why Stephenson principle will not tell Gartrell it is time to go. Stephenson is not the only school getting kids into college. The community will not keep supporting u if donot when a championship. The offense line stand up every play and donot hold there blocks on running play, why in the Hell are u running your quaterback back and back to the sideline to get a play. If u are putting players into colledge they cannot learn the no huddle, give me a dam break. And your quaterback is not a quaterback. Dekalb county what does it take to fire this coach.

This is truly the best time of the year. Newnan played yesterday like it was coming off a bye week. Very sloppy, unforced penalties. We must clean this up this week. These problems are fixable ,just need to start games focused. That being said, we are almost there and Grayson better be ready to play. Newnan’s defense is simply awesome.

Sanity I am with you the rotation of every region should be in effect You will have to travel eventually anyway The coin toss thing is OK if you are both undefeated but the coin flip should not be considered if you have an unequal amount of Losses??? Newnan Grayson should be a flip but Camden-NorthGwinnet should not….. your thoughts?

Lioness 30097, congratulations on your great victory last night but you need to be a gracious winner. Lowdnes did hang 51 points on you. Even if you raise the championship trophy at the dome ,it will be in the back of your mind that there is a team in Lowdnes county that beat the crap out of you and would probably do it again and again and again….

Sanith Rules

There never going to schedule 1st round games with great travel distances. Since there are only 4 teams down south, Lowndes, Colquitt, NSWR and Camden and three are still playing this seems to work more in the southern part of the states favor. I assure you Mceachern would have rather played Chapel Hill or Windsor Forest or Valdosta or Jenkins or Bradwell in the first round.

In the second round
Grayson v Roswell
Stephenson v Colquitt
Newnan v Ml King
NG Woodstock

These were all great matchups and tough games for all the treams involved.
You should face the facts that the strongest teams in the state this year just may not be in Valdosta.

Yes we are proud of our Wolverines even though we lost to North Gwinnett. I must say that I am appalled at how the people at North Gwinnett High School acted towards a visiting team. Learn some manners will you? The principal of NGHS should be ashamed and ban their band from future play off games. NGHS band continued to play each time the Wolverines had the ball which is very rude. The football team, although outplayed the Wolverines, were also guilty. Intentional hits that were against the rules, pushing and shoving after plays? The ref’s were horrible for the night as none of those things were called on NG. The ref’s should be the ones hanging their heads because they were horrific to allow such conduct and not to call penalties on the NG because of the band. I would gladly commend NGHS for their win but with the bad sportsmanship all around, how could I?

So if NSWR wins it all then Warner Robins was really the best team?
Or if Camden wins it all then Grayson was the best team?

Don’t be so sure Lowndes would beat Peachtree Ridge again.
Ask the boys from Camden if they just plan to forfeit if it comes down to Grayson/Camden.

The teams are laot different than the first 2 weeks of the season.

There are far fewer AAAAA teams south of Atlanta and they are spread out over much greater distances. Of course they are going to have more travel. Colquitt and Valdosta you mentioed were 3 and 4 seeds. A couple of years ago Grayson had to go all the way to Kingsland and next week PRidge has to go to Warner Robins, its no big conspiracy just the way it is.

Hey anybody know what time Union Grove and NSWR play tonight?

Stephenson, I will coach your team….how much does it pay? Furthermore, I know to go for two in the situation you were in last night. Why didn’t any of the assistants question Gartrell before the play? Maybe he was just confused and needed some guidance from his staff. Oh and by the way I won’t kick it to playmakers like #4.

Now that the Colquitt-Stevenson game is over, I have no “dawg” in the fight any longer re: the state of HS football in Dekalb county….BUT I have to say it is a shame that a group of outstanding young athletes at Stevenson do not get the opportunity to fulfill their true potential due to a total lack of coaching! It should be absolutely unacceptable!

What Stevenson football..and SWD for that matter over the last 10 or 15 years has been IN SPITE of the coaches…CERTAINLY not BECAUSE of the coaches!

Can you imagine Stevenson or SWD coached by Tomberline who was just fired by Valdosta! Look at what O’brian has done at Woodstock in a very short time frame! IT IS SCARY!

Grayram, believe me,I don’t drink the 1 AAAAA kool-aid but they are a strong region year in and year out. Newnan would have loved to played Brookwood in the first round. Valdosta was no joke. A very strong team. Mceachern was a fraud this year and it caught up with them. Yes it was a competitive second round but the same regions as the year before.
Inthatrenches, I haven’t heard of any injuries so we should be good to go. Our QB threw some nice passes last night and he seems to be putting it together . Bad news for Grayson.

jcwfalcon: Peachtree Ridge runs some shotgun, but predominately runs the Paul Johnson offense.
Nick Lombardo is the QB (#13) and he is a dual threat, running and passing. Brad Roby, (#10, a Vandy commit) is dangerous with the ball in his hands, be it as a runner, receiver or punt returner.
Defensively, they give up an average of 10.2 ppg (that includes 51 to Lowndes). They are stout against the run & are able to pressure the QB. I would pick NSWR to win, however do not sleep on the Ridge because they were punished by Lowndes.
Re coin flips: They are supposed to happen today.
pity poor monroe area: Good call on the Marist-Apalachee game. One of the best if not the best game in the state last night.
grayram: You are so right. You just have to look at Brookwood-McEachern to look at how teams change from the first 2 weeks.

It appears to put up or shut up with the long travel issue. If travel is such an issue, please start a petition to have the games played at a neutral site somewhere in the middle of the state if the games involve teams that have to travel more than 100 miles. It is done in other states (such as Texas), everyone gets a cut of the gate receipts, travel expenses are decreased, and the crowds from both schools are great.

Big Red Machine…

Speed isn’t what won the Hiram game last night…At the half it was Hiram 7 / Rockdale 0…the Rockdale’s “D” line pushed Hiram all over the field all night long. They were bigger and contained the Hiram offense from the start. Hiram’s QB was hurried on virtually every play and scrambled all over the backfield. Rockdale’s “D” had 2 or 3 guys on him almost every play and the kid panicked, running around refusing to get rid of the ball, losing 7…10…12…15+ yards continously!!! Hiram faced more 2nd and 15’s and 3rd and 20+ plays thatn I have EVER seen. Congrats to Rockdale they played hard ALL NIGHT!

Both teams scored TD’s on short yardage situations after turnovers but Rockdale drove from it’s own 2 once eating up clock to score a TD…They deserved this win!!!

A note to Hiram’s QB you need to control your temper…this kid lost his cool every time he got sacked (which granted was a LOT) but he threw the ball to the ground several times (could have been a delay of game call) and even threw the ball at (or in the direction of) the ref’s several other times. This is not how you win games and win the respect of your teammates!!!

So it’s RIP Paulding County football until next year!!!!

Jaybo…

I know this makes you VERY happy!!! I see TCC won…Congrats!!!

AVikingFan, 1AAAAA Sweep, AVikingGirl, 68Viking, Where are you guys and girl(lady) at this morning. I know you are up and wide awake, come on lets blog. Remeber this; that Camden will get Wildcated, it will get ugly early, Lowndes is just to strong up front on both sides of the ball for Camden. It was a very good game last night, but I’ve said all along this is not the same team that played Grayson. I think the difference was Camden was able to match you speed for speed. And did i or didn’t i say we could throw the ball if we had to. Just enough to be effective. Not rubbing nothing in, but not many people gave us a chance of winning. And think this team is young. One question on the serious side. After the game in the parking lot and at a local restaurant, your fans, was saying Lowndes gave the game away, they beat thier selves and was just full of what Lowndes did wrong. Both teams turned the ball over, that part of the game was even at 2. You had the ball on our side of the field all night and our defense stepped up. 3 fourth down conversions, i think we won the game and a hard fought game. Its as if the only way for Lowndes to lose is for Lowndes to beat themselves. Could the problem when you lose, be caused by the other teams play. Listening to the Tommy Palmer show after the game your radio play by play man, said and I quote Lowndes had numerous chances, but CAMDEN made the plays when they had to, and that he did not know, that Camden was that fast. End quote. I could be wrong I think we won this one, and Lowndes did not give us this. Your fans were great but the boasting it was going to over by the half, our weak schedule, that you guys strike on the first offensive play. So if you watched the same game i watched Camden earned that one. Oh my favorite one from last night was how dumb was the coach, Coach Mac has put Lowndes back on top so I don’t think he’s that dumb.(dumb was for what they called it was bad play calling)BUT GOOD LUCK TO ALL THE TEAMS LEFT GO COLQUITT CO. AND NORTHSIDE.
