Student: Bridges actually played a year or two with Minnesota and Stegall just ran into nothing but bad luck at Tech. He broke an arm one year and a leg the next and he wasn’t the same. Griffin was always a scary place to play back in the day. Those were dog fights from start to finish. Fighting on the field and in the stands.

Yo, AVikingFan, and all of the rest of the Viking posters, there is still room on the Northside Eagles bandwagon…a bandwagon that is lead by sophomores and juniors, which means you can get used to Northside advancing deep into the playoffs.
I have no doubts that the Vikings will be back as strong as ever next season. However, for all of the chatter about Northside joining Region 1-AAAAA, it certainly seems like the Eagles have performed better or as well as any other program in the region over the past two seasons.

I’ve yet to get an answer. Did you see a player run off the field before a Colquitt score in the fourth?

Again I just live here. I didn’t even go to high school in Georgia. Just hard not to follow high school football in Titletown. I am not a fan of Valdosta or Lowndes. I want them to win, but could really care less. No excuses from me for their loss. Lowndes is arguably one of the best programs in the state maybe even the country so it is easy to follow them. They had a tough draw and played a great team. Next week is when it counts not during the regular season. Just thought it was funny to hear Ptree Ridge running off after the pounding they got earlier in the year. Good luck to all teams left. I will be watching.

We beat Lassiter in a preseason scrimmage but they are obviously better now…i just want that tought Hawg defense to hold them under 30…if they can do that then we got a shot at beating them…i would like to say it will be a good old fashioned shootout but our offense is regressing the last few weeks. we need to take more shots down the field. our quick screens and dump offs to RBs in the flats can only take us so far…but i guess Coach Propst is leaning on his special teams and defense to win games at this point. thats why we pay him the big bucks!! Great Job Coach Propst and great job team…GO PACK!!!
This why they play the games

Thank you SGT CHRIS. Thanks for the scores for all classifications. Some shockers in their beside just Lowndes (I wasn’t shocked there, anyway). Lincoln Co. was in a track meet. Jackson proved something tonight. Clarke-Central was an upset to many, but I had a feeling on that one. I thought Marist would win; they scrimmaged Griffin and tied in preseason. Proud of St. Pius, alma mater of my nephew and niece.

dakotah—-i said it before and ill say it again…..when camden destroyed newnan’s “best team ever” in Newnan in the semis last year, they made a believer out of me…again, MY ONLY BEEF is that region they play in..I know they are a beast on the field..I tend to think my football IQ is pretty high and to say Camden is overrated or anything else is simply stupid

Can’t remember who they had at the time, but he was a better passer then Derrick. Derrick should have played in the NFL. He had incredible talent and insane speed.

I live in DeKalb. Was watching the game on the internet. For the life of me I can’t understand why Stephenson did not go for 2 pts. Any coach with just a little understanding of football strategy would understand the need to go for 2. One point does NOTHING! I was aghast as I watched Stephenson line up for the PAT.

I predicted that the Lassiter/South Gwinnett game would be air war and high score over a 100 points combined. Offenses are good for both but the defenses are swiss cheese on both too. Fortunate they can outscore everyone. North Gwinnett has defense to match offense. Here on out I think home teams have the edge.
Newnan/Grayson—-score will be 7 to 3..home team wins…..#1 and #2 defenses clash……….low scoring boring game.
Lowndes does not travel well at all this year. Congrats Camden.
When are all the coin flips?

Peachtree Ridge, North Gwinnett, Grayson, Buford, and Wesleyan all won, while Brookwood and South Gwinnett lost. Gwinnett went 5 and 2 and they were guaranteed 1 loss because 2 Gwinnett teams played each other. Way to go Gwinnett County!
In the mean time 2 of the 3 Hall County teams also advanced. Tough draw for North Hall, but Gainesville has a head of steam worked up now.
I am beginning to wonder whether defense makes any difference at all when playing Lassiter. I am not sure any team in Georgia can “out score” them regardless of how the defenses play.

fact- yes i definitely saw the play you were talking about. it should have been a penalty…but it wasnt called…might be due to the fact that we run a no-huddle offense so its hard to call that usual “12 men break the huddle” substitution penalty…but hey they didnt call it so good for us. i will take it considering that the refs gave CC 3 downs against Northside…im still PO’d about that. all the breaks fell CC’s way tonight. better luck next year Stephenson.

ENR: At least Randy McPherson has won state titles. Ron Gartrell is far and away the winner of the Underachiever of the Year (Buck Godfrey) award. I also happen to remember that Conrad Nix was up for that award until he won 2 state titles in AAAA.
Re tonights results: Picked NSWR, Newnan, North Gwinnett, Lassiter, Grayson (winners). Missed on Lowndes, Stephenson & Peachtree Ridge. Evidently travel did not affect Colquitt this week, but a third trip to Metro Atlanta awaits.
Early Predictions for Quarterfinals AAAAA.
NSWR over P’Tree Ridge NSWR doesn’t lose at the MAC
Lassiter over Colquitt County Pupil beats teacher
Grayson over Newnan Both teams have great defenses, but Grayson has a better offense.
Camden versus North Gwinnett-Take the home team (TBD by coin flip)

Wow, what a game between Camden and Lowdnes. I was at work here in Hawaii and was getting updates from friends and family back home. I was able to hear the crowd over the phone during the last drive and even though I wasn’t there I was tired just hearing all the background noise from the fans. I’m told it was a hard hitting game between both teams and after the game there was nothing but respect from the players and fans which is the way it’s suppose to be. There’s no need for trash talking from anyone, just two good teams playing at a very high level and leaving it all on the field. Good luck to the remaining teams from South GA from Olesarge on the beach here in Hawaii.lol

He was real close to those numbers when he left Newnan. By far and away the best High School tandem I have ever seen play. They carried Newnan and Max Bass was so old school that he wouldn’t throw the da*n ball unless we had to pick up 15 on third down.

SGT CHRIS,
We all have those stories. Clarke-Central attacked the BAND buses after getting beaten by Griffin in 1980. Griffin was tough on visitors, but Newnan got their licks in. Once Griffin was winning a crucial game and driving again when the lights just went off. They stayed off nearlty a half hour. Max Bass, he of the dark burnt orange jerseys the same color of the football, was widely suspected of seeing to that outage. They still lost, and our buses got rocked on the way out of the stadium. Just the kids being rowdy. No serious damage unless it messed with the buses’ shocks.
