I just dont see how people can say Stephenson is not well coached!…You have to be on the same page if you’re undefeated so far. Just give credit when credit is due…Their defense held two above .500 programs that were averaging over 30 points a game to 7 and 0 points(Union Grove and MLK who are in playoffs now!)…Colquitt will be facing the toughest defense so far(point blank!)

NSWR do not sleep on UG either. As i remembered you guys won 24-7 last year with their main back out(Not really a blow-out). It will be an interesting game.

I’ve heard enough, penalties and bad calls against us will not hurt us.We’ve not had any home cooking this season and don’t expect any Friday nite, which means more penalties and bad calls. We’ve had great Coaching…made some great adjustments … and put points on the board … this people is not luck or talent running wild … this my friends is COACHING at it’s BEST. Do you think (actually) that the Dive Raymond ran 40 yards for the score was point and run or the 80 yard punt return by Nate wasn’t by design? sf31313 you Atipical of south Ga.Give these kids thier props … NOT only are they talented, they ARE well coached MOST of these STARTERS are first year starters ….Takes some coaching to get these kids to play as a team (you think).SAVE your excuses we have none … we will play our game and we Will win …Start STRONG…Stay STRONG …Finish FAST GOOOOOOOOOOOJJAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGSSSSSSSSSSSS

Wow nomo, based on your comments, maybe Roswell should just not show up and turn in thier equipment on thursday morning. I think 10 to 15 point grayson win as some have posted is either overestimating Graysons ability or totally disrespecting Roswell’s ability to win a close game on the road. Sports Fan 31313, this is not from the heart, I really feel that Roswell will win by 3 in a mild upset. The Grayson players are likely taking this game lightly and also looking ahead in the bracket too. Just saying…

Well, roswellfan, I’m not sure where you got anything out of my comments that suggests you not show up – in fact I’m encouraging you to bring your best. Please understand, (and perhaps reread my post) there is no disrespect for Roswell AT ALL…just fans like you that really aren’t familiar with what you are talking about.

You made assumptions in your post that are not factual – and even stating today that Grayson players are taking Roswell lightly???? Give me a break. We are NOT a great team, but can you seriously think Grayson takes anyone likely – and wins 34 of it’s last 38 games? We win because we are disciplined and focused. Period.

Come off your self induced arrogant insecurity and realize there is absolutely no disrespect for your program – rather I believe it’s the other way around.

As much as it pains me to say, I really think Roswell has a good shot at beating the mighty Grayson. The only way teams have scored on Roswell is through the air and at last check Grayson runs that boring wing-t. That’s not fair to say that about the wing-t, not everyone one has a Hutson Mason at qb and can run an unstoppable offense like Lassiter.
Lassiter 49 South 32.

Both Can Lose?– Do you also put your proverbial * beside the 2008 AAAAA State Champs? I have to defend Camden on this one. They get it done in post-season play, so what does it matter what region they play in during regular season? That’s what the play-offs are for!!! I’m not even going to dignify your ignorant slam on Lowndes with a response.

Advisor,

What are you talking about now? You insinuate that I show favoritism for South Georgia Football (Well Hello?) That is where I am from. A lot of the winners come from South Georgia. Now as far as giving Stephenson their “props”, I have said it over and over and over and over again. I said congratulations to Stephenson on their victiory, and I also said that Stephenson is a very good football team. What more do you want from me? But I will also say this. They wont beat Colquitt County this Friday. Unless the Jags play penalty free, and no turnovers. They will have a good chance of beating Colquitt County. Other then that, they will lose.

North Gwinnett 21 Woodstock 7. Woodstock has not played anyone to really test them. This should be a really good game and will come down
to turn-overs and how much pressure Woodstock can bring on CJ.I hope Woodstock has a good back-up QB as North has been brutal on all the last 3 games QB.Woodstock needs be ahead in the 4TH quarter as that is when North plays best if they hope to win. It could happen but the odds are against Woodstock. Millcreek, Norcross, and North Forsyth would be a top team in Region 5.

well put NG18 just look at nick lombardo for ptree ridge he had to sit out a lot of the kell game. i heard he got a hurt left shoulder and a high ankle sprain because we had constant pressure. woodstock better have a lot of 3rd and shorts because they arent gonna be able to pass the ball on third and long

Wolverine – do you really, honestly think NG has not faced a good defense? Heaven forbid, look at who they’ve played!

roswellfan – same…do you really think Grayson hasn’t played against some of the best already? So all of a sudden we’re now gonna face the best defense ever?…and see our first forward pass, ever? Please.

Do ya’ll really think you have the inside track on great defense, and explosive offense? I’m all for pulling for your teams – I sure pull for mine – but c’mon, are you serious? It’s about matchups, not just schemes.

Last year, Grayson had “never been hit like the train” that was supposed to come from East paulding. They had “never seen speed” like they were gonna see from Lowndes. This year, we had “never been exposed to such an explosive offense” as South was going to bring…what the hell? Do you really think we play Meadowcreek 9 games out of ten every freakin year, and not practice to play against decent teams?

whoa! norcross! they are soooooooooo good ;)
now im worried. i like how people give the wolverines credit for being a playoff team when last year was the first year that yall have ever won a playoff game. walton was a terrible seed and norcross wasnt that great. your not gonna stop NG’s offense so much that it cant score more than 10 points. we have played better defenses than woodstock. prattville alabama and Ptree ridge have better defenses so im pretty sure your not gonna hit us in the mouth any harder than we have been already

i think this camden team is probably a lot better than people give them credit for. they lost to hoover and grayson. both early on, as we know camden always plays well at home and in the playoffs so lowndes better become prepared to play. ill be sold that lowndes is the real deal this year if they can beat camden.

Note- Lombardo was banged up for most of the second part of the season, he sat out at South Forsyth until we sent him in with like 1 minute to go. It wasn’t JUST the NG defense.

If the PRHS defense allowed 14 points for North Gwinnett, I don’t see Woodstock allowing fewer than ten.

Colquitt County Underdog

November 18th, 2009
2:58 pm

Colquitt County probably does not have as much physical talent as Stephenson but our best players always seem to make timely, clutch plays. The Packer defense has gotten better and better as the season rolls along and shutout Westlake and Warner Robins. Like the article mentions, the Westlake game was Colquitt’s worst game offensively all season. It was an aberration, not the usual output. Colquitt still had close to 300 total yards. The starting RB ran for over 140 yards and he hasnt been completely healthy the last 3 or 4 weeks. If the Colquitt QB plays his usual game and the offense is able to make a big play or two, then i like Packers’ chances. Colquitt can also make a big play on special teams…just ask Lassiter or any Region 1AAAAA fan about how team stopped kicking to our star WR.

Wolverine – nothing to do with being superior – in fact, I’ve said several times here that Roswell presents the best matchup we’ve seen all year. My point is all this talk about things other teams “haven’t seen.” It’s football for cryin out loud – nobody’s reinventing the wheel in HS football. If you’ve evaluated and determined that Woodstock creates mismatches in the matchups with NG, then more power to you. But to say they haven’t been hit? Really? They haven’t seen offensive firepower? Right. roswellfan had the same sentiments toward Grayson, and the Stephenson crowd believes because they are fast they can’t be beat. It all makes for fun chatter for fans, but it’s not really about football.

“Both can Lose” – PS Always put an * next to Camden’s won-loss record. What are looking at. It does not matter what region, they show up every year in the playoffs, make it to the dome 5 out of 7 years and the 2 other years were in the 3rd round. So to my calculations, they are a darn good football team that wins and have no problem playing great football teams out of region during the regular season just to shut people up like you that have no sense. Wake up next time before you say something stupid again.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, BUT really MLK has a great squad to defend against any team!! Yea we lost that 1 game to stephenson bcuz of simple mishaps like crazy fumbles, incorrect blitzes, etc but they didn jes SLAUGHTER us,they had to work for it.Same with anyteam there not goin to jus beat us down, there goin to have to work for it!! So i wish folks jes quit sayin were goin to lose like its jes such a DEFINITE! I cant wait to c the responses on next wk if we win against NEWNAN! “IF” the game between Stephenson and MLK was represenative of thier play and ability they will not last long in the remaining playoffs. They were sloppy, too many unexceptable penalities and both teams appeared inferior. Stephenson looked better only because MLK looked terrible. Thier claim to be the best team anyone has ever seen, is about as true as the claim of 10,000 at the game that appeared to be more like 2500 (maybe) . Both are done this week….

The ” * ” beside Camden should only refer to them being one of two or three teams you must beat every year to win a AAAAA state championship in Ga. They have outstanding coaching and they show up every week. I am pulling for Lowndes this week but I sure don’t consider Camden the underdog. Maybe in Martin stadium but not in Camden’s home. Greetings Advisor,

My goodness son, are you hooked on phonics? In response to your comment, and I hope I am responding correctly to what you are trying to say. But the 44-0 hammering of Bradwell Institute has absolutely nothing to do with the beating that Colquitt County is going to give to Srephenson. I don’t know where you have gotten your offensive schemes from that you think Colquitt County has, but I will say that things you did to Bradwell Institute, wont happen to Colquitt County. well, we would LOVE to beat NSWR here at the Grove, but I think most of us are realistic and know it would be quite an upset. We accumulate way too many penalties and can’t seem to get our offense to gel. Very frustrating to watch, especially when you consider the amount of talent on the team! Our boys mainly want to give them a good game and not get blown out. We stayed with Stephenson 7-7 ’til halftime–I think that was quite a surprise for them. We’ll see you all down in AAAA next season, though!

Wow nomo…..relax. It’s not that serious. I feel your anger coming out in your post. Not sure why you took the angle that you did. Anyway, While I have not seen Grayson play this year in person; I have seen all of Roswell games. Roswell stregnth are run defense and special teams. Thier passing game is much better because of the new quarterback now running the offense; however Roswell is still a run-first offense. Most kickoffs go thru the end zone resulting in an 80 yard drive required to score a td by the opposing offense. This has been a tremendous advantage to roswell this year. Our pass offense is better with #4 now starting at qb. Roswell has 2 really good wr’s and this appears to be a strength going into this game. I know nothing about grayson db’s but I fo know that Roswell has 2 D1 recievers. All things being equal, Grayson will win. But perhaps I am making an emotional pick but it appears to me that Roswell has rallied around it’s new quarterback and has an expanded offense. If Roswell can match the line play of Grayson, seems to me that Roswell has advantages in most other fundamental aspects of the game. I think that this game will break on perhaps a big play or breakdown. In the games that Roswell struggled this season, it was defensive breakdowns against the pass (walton which we won) and (Lassitter which we lost). Should be a great game.
