Let me add 1 more point to the issue of Camden county playing in our current region. Ask any one at Camden from fans, to players, coaches, parents, students, local business, it doesnt matter. We would all love to be in a tougher region. Its evident at the games we play. When we play tough compitition the fans are there weither its a home game or us going to Alabama or South Carolina to play. When Camden plays weak teams, the fan interest drops off and there are not as many fans. Think about it, Would you travel 100 miles to watch your team play someone that you know they are going to beat by 50 points or would you go knowing that it will be a toss up? The best 2 games I saw this year were the first 3 games. All won or lost by a small point margin. But a tree games played against very tough opponents.

I see your point I drove 225 miles to watch union grove-windsor forest and man that was tough to watch I wish there was a way to change it .I realise if they put camden in different region it wouldn’t make since with all the travel I guess were kinda stuck

Let’s bury Camdens region’s dead horse. Enough is enough. Let’s talk football friday in AAAAA. Power football teams: Lowndes, Northside,Grayson,Brookwood,Colquitt, Newnan, Woodstock, P-Ridge, ML King, Union Grove, Camden
Spread: Lassiter, N/S Gwinnett,Roswell, Stephenson.
True dual threat(PASS/RUN)Northside, Grayson, Stephenson, ML King, P-Ridge, Brookwood.
All teams have 1 thing in common: Big Time Defensive play makers. The team who controls field position and special teams will move on friday. With the exception of P-ridge, Northside, Grayson, Lowndes, Camden,Stephenson, Brookwood, Woodstock and Newnan, I did not get to see the other teams. Plus these teams are mainstays in the playoffs. Good luck to all teams, be safe and injury free. Maintain good sportsmanship.

fitzgerald will key in on swainsboro’s QB and that will totally shut them down, that is all they have, fitzgerald has to many weapons, special teams will play a big part in this game.

Well said wardawg one thing a little different about union grove offence is its run from a pistol formation. You are completly correct about the defences of all these schools a lot of talent turnovers will be huge as well as field position lookin forward to friday win or lose just can’t wait to see good football after last friday

Win or Lose this week the Colquitt County Packers are one of the, if not the, most improved team this year. They went from 4-6 in 2008 to currently 9-2 and in the second round of the playoffs in 2009. Went from one of the worst defense to a damn good one in only one season. The Packers while currently 9-2 have yet to play at their full potential. But the really good part is wait until you see the 2010 Packer Team!

Lowndes County will play for the state title and likely win it. This team will run over every currently undefeated team in the state. Don’t let the NR lose fool you. Camden will be crushed this week.

Hey slalom1…
If what you say is true (about Carver’s substandard test scores) that would mean that all the people that have been telling me those football players that are transferring there for academic reasons are probably being deceptive. Unless, the academic reason IS the lower standards.
But I bet the bench press test scores and the 40-yd dash test scores are really impressive.

This is my thought process. The rankings I look at is the Massey ratings. Lowndes is ranked #1 and North Gwinnet #2 and I agree with that. Points I am not so concerned with, Lowndes obviously has better JV than North to finish weak teams, equates to more points. My point is Lowndes has (Massey) ranking of the #1 offense #12 defense in the state and North Gwinnett has #4 defense and #9 offense. NSWR ranked #7 defense and #21 offense and they beat Lowndes when Lowndes traveled up to the Mac. Lowndes also lost when they traveled up to Grayson. With the extra long travel to North Gwinnett which is even further north than Grayson, Wing T is not a come from behind offense, and finally the emotional fight with Camden will weaken Lowndes is why I pick North Gwinnet over Lowndes *IF* they beat Camden, which I think they will. I think it is a horrible bracket to have the best teams in the state to play for semis, but it is what it is and who ever wins this game between Lowndes and North Gwinnett will be in the dome in my very humble opinion.

Slalom1–Looking around west georgia, it only makes sense for us to join a region with the Carrollton schools. After that, its Macon area AAA schools. After that, who knows!

TJ – I understand your theory about Lowndes traveling all the way to North Gwinnett and possibly being “flat” because of the long bus ride. Maybe they’ll do like they did this week. I heard they went down to Jacksonville Tuesday, checked into a riverfront hotel near the Landing, will practice in the Gator Bowl (Alltel Stadium) Wed and Thursday, go to the beach Friday morning, and make the short trip up to Camden Friday afternoon in time for a pregame steak. When your Touchdwon Club raises over $250,000 per year you can do those things. When we went to Grayson last year it was the day after Thanksgiving so we couldn’t travel early, it wasn’t fair to the players and coaches to be away from family on such a Holiday.
Just saying………(But hey, don’t believe everything your read on these blogs!).

I see a certain individual keeps complaining about Camden getting a #1 seed every year cause of the region. Understand your issue, but it would be one thing if we kept getting the #1 seed and losing every year, but the matter of the fact we keep on winning, and it is not being wasted. So until then, good luck in the playoffs and go Wildcats.

“Regardless of what you may have read or heard in the rumor mills, we have plenty of tickets for Viking fans. If we can sell them, the entire visitor side will be Vikings. However, if we cannot sell our side, then we must return them to Camden County, and they will sell them.”

Trojan94–Anytime, anywhere, 4 am in the street in Whitesburg. Doesn’t matter.
Newnan is in a 10 team region and only have one slot for an out of region game. We have been rotating your Trojans and LaGrange. We hope to have Carrollton on the slate for 2010-11.
Just ask yourself the question, “Would Newnan beat Ridgeland?”

1-AAAAA Sweep, if what you say is true about the Lowndes team going to Jacksonville, I’m sorry but to me, that is an example of what can be wrong with high school football! I have to assume they are having some sort of classes during the week. If not, that makes it worse! AAARRRGGGHHH!!! I have to go find some type of chill pill now. I hope you are just rattling our cages.

That was only this year. Bradwell Institute have dominated ALL of the Savannah Teams. No Doubt about it. Check the history. I will PROMISE that no Savannah team will beat Bradwell Institute next year in football.

I have a lot to say about that. But now is not the time. After the season is over, I will speak out about it. I will tell you this, if you could check the history of the Savannah Teams vs Bradwell Institute, you will see differently and understand what I am saying. Bradwell Institute should have been at the very least 8-2 this year, and even with a lost to Stephenson, it should not been such a wide margin of victory. Bradwell Institute got hammered, and the fans of Liberty County / Bradwell Institute has to live with that for an entire year. There is a lot discussion about this among the fans and the powers that be. but i wont go into it right now. There have been a lot of Coaching vacancies this year hasn’t it?

Sportsfan, big j – Region 3AAAAA does need Bradwell to get better next year, which I believe they will. Bradwell is normally a good team and plays decent against Camden. That is why Camden and Bradwell usually plays the last game of the year to get geared up for the playoffs. They will be back.

Grayram will be the first we notify if and when the “Lowndes folks” EVER get worried about our Vikings! We support them win or lose. It sure is fun to be winning right now though (2004, 2005, 2007 AND ….. 2009)! Thanks, Grayram! I’m not sure what prompted that post on the Vikings website. I know rumors swarmed down here that tickets were sold out for a couple of away games when they actually were NOT sold out. I figure that is what happened this time also. We DO have several games during the year that sell out during the week before the night of the game. I’m guessing someone was afraid this one would sell out also and so they started mass pandomonium. Good luck against Roswell (don’t think you’ll need it though)!

Fred – That was a good one! You are definitely right about the parking (even though ya’ll made us park down in the woods and walk half a mile to the stadium)! The stadium was pretty nice (home side anyway). You better pray that it doesn’t flood though because it feels like you’re going down into a pit. Good luck to you this Friday!
