Congrats to the Colquitt County Packers for defeating Westlake. I played for the 1994 Championship team and it makes me proud to see these guys scratch and claw their way to victory. See you next week at Stephenson.

Well AVikingFan, that’s just rude dude. I take Lowndes in this matchup, but the reason football is exciting is that anything can happen on any given night. No one would like football if teams just forfeited. And Give PRHS a little slack, we shot ourselves in that game (that seems to be a recurring theme for us this year),
I’ll one up you on Colquitt vs. Stephenson, I don’t think Stephenson is on upset “alert”, I think they WILL be beaten by the Packers. Coach Propst is a great coach, this no-huddle spread will be different I’m guessing than anything Stephenson’s seen, there is a lot of talent on the Packer side of the ball, and Stephenson historically can’t go anywhere in the playoffs. The only thing Stephenson has got going for them is homefield advantage, but that won’t be enough. I’M TAKING THE PACKERS!
*Note, yes there are some of us region 7-AAAAA PRHS people who do respect and root for some South Georgia teams.
*Bulldawg Bite- thanks for the compliments about PRHS, and I agree with you, we should be a top three team in the state (with Grayson and Lowndes) but for some reason we can’t pull it together this year. No offense, but I think you guys will likely be done in week 3 (along with PRHS), and there will be no Region 7 team in the semi’s. Camden will be hard to beat for you guys if you go there. Lowndes, unless they lose focus on the 4 hour bus ride to Suwanee, will be almost impossible to beat. I think Lowndes is the best team in the state, and no offense, find NG a bit overrated.

AVikingFan, I got a good laugh out of the two mules. Man I am excited and absolutely looking forward to NSWR. We might get beat but won’t the whole football and playoff environment be exciting and we aren’t Peachtree Ridge. I think someone forgot to tell the Windsor Forest fans that last night was a playoff game.
We are going to the dome even if we have to purchase tickets. Our defense played good last night but not up to their usual level. We made some changes on offense and well, I think the score speaks for itself.
I will disagree with you on your prediction for Stephenson. Colquitt will be hard pressed to score on Stephenson’s defense. There has been talk about some of the tough defenses in the state and I am telling you that Stephenson and MLK are right up there with them.

For all of you haters of region 8AAAA we went 3-1. This week will prove to be very interesting. Rockdale@ Hiram , Clarke Central @ SWD and Marist @ Apalachee. Rockdale upsets Hiram. Clarke Central gives SWD a close game, but SWD pulls it out. In OT Apalachee beats Marist 24-21. See you at the Chee Griffin after we win the coin toss. Go Wildcats and Region 8AAAA

For inthatrenches some thought on the Lowndes/East Coweta game.
East Coweta obviously came to win and left it all on the field.
They have a very good running back #1 who I would love to see running behind Lowndes offensive line out of the Wing position. He did not need much of a hole to make something happen. Qback play was also pretty good. Not a bad thrower and also good running the ball.
Lowndes first posession of the game I saw something I have never seen in all my years of watching football.
E. Coweta on both of the first 2 defensive plays of the game tried to defend Lowndes with only 10 men on the field. Also on the point after attempt. Somebody on the EC sidelines definitely did not have their heads in the game and for that matter it seems the defense would have noticed also. I’ve seen a one play mistake like that before but for 3 straight plays!
Not to take any thing from E.C. but Lowndes probably played the worst first half of football I have seen them play this year. Penalties on top of penalties. One turnover. Just a lack of intensity. A little like the first half of the Northside game, but worse.
The second half was a total different story as evidenced by the final score.
Lowndes must bring the intensity next week from the beginning of the game or it will be tough to beat Camden on the road.
Get off the bus ready to play guys….lets go!!!
This Lowndes team has the talent (as evidenced by many scores they have been putting up this year) to be Lowndes best team “ever”. They also seem to be able to underachieve at a drastic measure at times….that last part can be concerning.

Can someone explain this:
Why is Camden County playing the #2 seed from Region 1 in the second round 2 years in a row?
If the brackets were rotated properly they should be facing the # 3 seed from region 1.
This type of repeat matchup is not supposed to happen.
Camden has a right to be upset.

Quinn of the Ridge – Go back to last year when for 7 or 8 games I was the only poster on any of these blogs who spoke highly of PeaRidge. My remark to Union Grove was in jest. Some of their fans have been avid Lowndes boosters. Forget the region 1 thing, I hope UG pulls off an upset next week. But I don’t see it happening. I do see South Gwinnett beating Lassiter’s Hoover offense and give up a million points a game defense.
As far as the poster who said Colquitt hasn’t faced a defense like Stephenson has. I challenge that sincerely. Lowndes, Northside, and Warner Robins all have top notch defenses. Colquitt’s Meat Packers may make sausage out of Stephenson’s so-called athletes.
Woodstock with its 1-AAAAA flavored coaching staff might also pull off an upset against North Gwinnett.
And last but not least, lil ole Lowndes might just go ON THE ROAD and upset defending state champion and number one seed Camden.

Yo thanks for the run down and congrats to your Vikings you guys have a tough draw next week Camden at home is tough…. Wow you guys have a heck of a road ahead not being the # 1 seed…… Northside got an easier track with Mceachern losing atleast their home at the MAC for three rounds but I believe Newnan or Grayson have the defense to pull the upset!!!

saw some stats from grayson that i found impressing. they held marietta to NO first downs the enire first half, the score coming on a kickoff return. they only had 4 first dows the entire game, and only 135 yards of total offense, 53 of which coming on on one long pass with minutes left, realistically this game was never close

Thanks AVikingFan, I get a little sensitive about hearing about the Lowndes game almost three months later. It’s not a happy memory, I agree Woodstock is an underrated team coached by a great Mike O’Brien, and could very likely upset NG. I’ve got the Vikings over Camden, I honestly believe Lowndes is the best team in the state, and I’ve got them winning state this year, but who knows, the field is wide open this year. I took my 12 yr old son who started playing football this year to see Newnan vs Valdosta.I told him Valdosta was one of If not the best high school programs in history even If they have been down a little. It was great game Valdosta came to play hard.Last week all we read was how newnan would not only get beat, but blown out.Now that they won its we only beat region 1’s 4th seed.Last week we only had the twins on defense.Ask your QB and running backs about #51.I dont think it was Valdosta Fans talking smack.I think it was the so called south ga fans. For me Im not a south or north Ga fan.Im a GA fan………….. I think GA schools could play with anyone in the country. As far as who Newnan plays its who ever they put in front of them next week.

Yo, thanks for the update on what went on with Lowndes last night, we were wondering why the game was so tight the first half. That’s the mark of a good team and coaching staff to go in and adjust at halftime. There also could have been a little looking ahead by the players to a possible upcoming game with Camden. That’s what I was worried about at the Camden game, they might have been looking ahead to a possible matchup with Lowndes instead of focusing on Newton. Newton has a scrappy team and I give them credit they never backed down and played hard until the end. Next week game should be a good one and I don’t think anyone has to worry about either team not being ready to play this game, hopefully it will be like those two battles back in 03. It’s just a shame one of us will be done after Friday night.

Ware county gators defense gone crush the undefeated griffin bears football team they are nicknamed tha hit squad because they attack anybody that tries to get in their way.The offense is led by jimmy wilkins the speedy quarterback that looks a lot like philadelphia eagle’s michael vick.He is a good athlete that makes big plays for his team when they need them. The running back bernard robertson and fullback bryant hayman are the real truth they are two big backs that run with a lot of power to score touchdowns. The other teams usally have a hard time maintaining with these two backs. The Griffin bears maybe 11-0 now but when dem gators come in town the record is going to be 11-1 at the end. Go Gators

Well Camden County is the defending AAAAA State Champions and I know Lowndes will be the underdog going into this game especially on the road. But I really believe Lowndes has the better team. If they match the intensity that they came out with against Peachtree Ridge and Valdosta I really believe Lowndes can win this game despite playing on the road. As we all know playing on the road isn’t one of our better qualities but Lowndes has to get it done. I think this is possibly one one the best teams Lowndes has assembled on both sides of the ball. How we start the game will definately determine the outcome. Last night against East Coweta it just seems like it was just flat. Almost like everyone just automatically expected Lowndes to win. Just like at Grayson last year, all the Lowndes fans just assumed Lowndes would win because they were expected to. Me included. Now I respect every team regardless. But Coweta came to play. That #1 was really good. All the Viking Nation needs to be on the road next week and get behind our boys so we can get off to a great start. If Lowndes stays focused and go over there and play our game I really think we can win. This is a big challenge and I’m anxious to see how my Vikings will respond to the challenge. Let’s take it one game at a time and not worry about who plays who next if this team or that team wins. All we need to focus on is Camden! See ya in Kingsland! Go Vikings!

Ok I think we all get that Newnan won. But come on, we all know that Valdosta really wasn’t that good at all this year. They lost to all the top teams in our Region this year. They beat Coffee, Tift, Houston, and surprisingly Warner Robins all of which were horrible this year with the exception of Warner Robins. I really didn’t think they were going to make the playoffs at all. Warner Robins could of easily been that 4th team seed. Not saying Newnan isn’t a good team but to think beating Valdosta automatically gets you a pass to the dome is a bit premature.

Come on now. Clarke Central barely beat Mays. yal gave up a 21-7 lead to win 28-31. I still congratulate u on the win, but to say your going to give SWD a close one is pushing it. SWD is alot better than Mays this year. I cant say much about the Rockdale-Hiram game but I hope Hiram pulls it out. And Marist is going to win against apalachee, who also barely beat the #4 seed 24-27.

8AAAA 3-1…
You can forget your “Rockdale upsets Hiram” comment…WON’T HAPPEN!!!
I went to the Hiram/Chamblee game last night and the game wasn’t as close as the score makes it appear. Chamblee ran a sweep with #21 almost ALL night and once he was contained they had no other offense.
Hiram will go DEEP into this year’s playoffs, they have a good running attack, a kid with a CANNON for an arm (he threw accurate long passes from both the pocket and scrambling ALL NIGHT) and a VERY ball hungry defense that swarmed to the ball carrier. Hey “JAYBO” A great match-up would be Hiram/TCC in the dome!!!
A note to Rockdale fans…Time your trip and account for rush hour traffic on 1-20. At the 7:30 kick-off Chamblee’s BAND was still not at the stadium, they showed up mid 1st quarter. Many fans were still coming in during the 1st quarter also and for a PLAYOFF game Chamblee only had about 50% of the visitors section filled…VERY poor showing of support for their team. Also parking is a HUGE issue at Hiram so be prepared.
Hiram’s home side was rocking a full HOUR before the game started and they filled the stands staying LOUD, cheering for the HORNETS all night long! Bells, signs, horns and the FOX 5 “IN YOUR FACE HAND” made it a fun night of football!!
Next up Round 2 and Rockdale…GO HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOORNETS!!!!!!

Raider/Bear Fan,
What year did you graduate from Griffin? Class of ‘82 here. I remember the bear scoreboard that growled and blew smoke. And the bear paws painted on the road to the stadium. My frosh, soph, and jr. classes were some of the best teams Griffin ever had. NFL talent back then. They’ve apparently gotten that kind of talent again lately.

Viking Girl: You know that some people jump up and down seeking attention. The Newnan contingent of posters suggesting that Newnan would be a contender for the Region 1-AAAAA championship is a borderline joke. We all know it. Newnan dodges competition on a regular basis. Newnan has NEVER proven that they are a program that can play two back-toback HUGE games and win both of those games. Therefore, we know what would have to the Cougars in Region 1-AAAAA.
To Newnan’s defense, the Cougars play in a region that forces them to play 9 region games in their season. On the other hand, Newnan is one of the strongest programs in the state of Georgia. They have college athletes and could easily play a top tier non-region game. They play local powers. Perhaps, that is a bigger gate draw. I understand that athletic programs are run on money. Still, Newnan plays weak teams.
I am a little lost why Newnan posters a jumping around about a game that is not going to happen against one of a few Region 1-AAAAA teams. If I were a Newnan Cougar, my focus would be solely focused upon Martin Luther King. If not MLK, at least give the top ranked team in the state (Grayson) some respect.
What the Cougar contingent infactuation of Northside and Lowndes County shows me is it is probably going to be basketball season on LaGrange Street in Newnan, GA in about 6 days or surely in 13 days. Their scatter-brained fan base is more focused upon the fantasy of Newnan beating Lowndes County in a fictitious game. The truth is Newnan can fulfill their dreams by simply playing a strong program like Northside-Warner Robins, Lowndes County, Camden County, Grayson, McEachern, Roswell, or many others. Instead, Newnan plays dodge ball with top tier programs.
My guess is MLK puts that Cougar horse down Friday night. Lowndes County has a HUGE GAME Friday. Two standard bearing Georgia programs play Friday night in Kingsland, GA. I would like to see Viking posters focused upon what matters. That is representing Region 1-AAAAA and doing what our Northside Eagles could not do last season in the 2nd round. Newnan posters jumping around in the corner is not important. The Vikes at Wildcat Stadium is more than worth a conversation. Forget Newnan. They have a strong program over there. They beat Valdosta. Let’s give the Cougar posters a pat on the back and move on to some real football.

Close game last night for Hiram. They were the opposite of what they usually do. They came out in the first half and just dominated and at half time it was 21-7. But we came out in the second half and made some mistakes. But we didnt let Chamblee counter those mistakes. Great play by the defense and big plays from the offense are why Hiram is going to the second round. Rockdale county be ready. HHHHHHHHHOOOOOOOOOOORRRRRRRRRRRNNNNNNNNNEEEEEEEEEETTTTTTTTTSSSSSSSSSS

ENR you my friend are hillarious you do forget that all the 1-AAAAA chest thumpers were calling for the 1-AAAAA Sweep!! you must also forget the thumping from Newnan you took at the Mac in 03 (24-0) then Newnan went to Parkview and thumped them in the Orange Jungle…..back to back.. Did we win the Championship? No, we lost in the Dome in the semi’s to probably the best team in the country in 03′… Camden… we were the only team in 03 to even lead at the Half against Camden…….. but….. let us move forward to 09′ we look forward to a quality opponent in MLK or Jenkins Then Grayson or Roswell if we are so fortunate to get there You calling for the Jersey turn in for Chapell Hill was “low rent” Reeze respected that team in his comments You unfortunately are the big mouth bully who enjoys criticizing others…. I cannot speak for all the Newnan posters but I was on here giving credit to all teams regardless of the outcome Blogging is fun if it is respectful and Northside is a very good team and deserving of their seed and they have a proud heritage of winning football but I am glad you do not represent the majority of Northside’s posters. inthatrenches and all Newnan posters: Please accept my apologies. I was completely unaware that there were so many people calling for a Region 1-AAAAA sweep. I see where all of this comes from. I was out of town this week and returned yesterday evening.
As for Chapel Hill, it is time to turn in jerseys and uniforms. I certainly did not misarticulate the reality of the 2009 football season at Chapel Hill. The truth be told, Chapel Hill is more of a basketball school. I can pat them on the back for a good game. Nonetheless, it is time to turn the gear in over there.
The same is about to happen to Union Grove High School. The “Dancing Band Theory” is in full affect on Friday night. Northside does not lose to dancing band programs. If your band is dancing around the bleachers all game, if your band is taking up 15 minutes of the 20 minutes half, and if 14 year old girls in your band are dressed like strippers, Northside is going to destroy you. Therefore, let’s put Union Grove in the destroyed category.
The question is what will Newnan do to their dancing band opponent on Friday. It is nice that you said “or Jenkins.” Sir, let me assure you that Jenkins season was over before the playoffs started. MLK’s band will be dancing all night long tonight.

Hey Ware County #1: I don’t know where you get your advise, nor do we really care, but I will tell you this: You are suffering from some sort of delusions, there are medications for that and you need it in the worse way. You are in for a RUDE awakening if you think you can come to the Mighty Bears Den and Crush ANYTHING (except your own peanuts you dug up from your front yard). Our Defense is DEVASTATING. You will see. A NASTY BUNCH they are. I can’t wait to read how others on here who are familiar with the Bears talent this year respond to your ill advised utterings. Not only will you guys have a long tiring trip to get here, but it is twice as long going back to Waycross toting what’s left of your gator-tails with ya. You really don’t know what you are in for, believe me.
