Colquitt County will probably be the 2 or 3 seed in 1-aaaaa.I expect them to beat NSWR on Friday. If they are 3, they probably get to the quarterfinals or better. If 2 they have to play Camden in round 2 and that game could be a toss-up. Of course, if they win this week and Lowndes loses, watch out at number 1 seed they could go the distance. I am a lowndes viking fan by the way.

Watch out for Parkview, their senior QB is back. Look at games before the Grayson game in which they broke his jaw….lots of points. Bad news for Brookwood this Friday. Only good thing going for Brookwood is home field advantage. Huge game this week for both teams. Winner is 4th seed and loser packs it up for the season. So McEachern should be concerned if Parkview comes back into early season form with their emotional and big play leader. Will be a tougher game than most will expect.

Breaking news from Ga HS Football Daily
Lithonia, Stone Mountain assessed with forfeits
Lithonia and Stone Mountain must forfeit nine victories between them for using ineligible players this season, knocking both DeKalb County teams out of state-playoff contention in Region 6-AAAA, the Georgia High School Association announced today.
As a result, the winner of the game Friday night between Chamblee and Miller Grove will become the fourth and final playoff qualifier from the region. Southwest DeKalb, Marist and Tucker have clinched the first three playoff berths.
Stone Mountain, with had improved to 6-3 this season from 3-7 under first-year coach Dante Ferguson, was forced to forfeit victories over Miller Grove, Forsyth Central, Lakeside and North Springs. Stone Mountain’s victory over Lithonia has been declared a double forfeit because both teams used ineligible players. Stone Mountain record is now 1-8 overall, 0-8 in the region.
Lithonia, which had been 4-5, must forfeit victories over Forsyth Central, Chamblee, Miller Grove and Lakeside. Lithonia’s record now is 0-9.
The forfeits move Chamblee and Miller Grove (both 6-3 overall and 5-3 in the region) into a tie for fourth place in the region.
Chamblee would’ve earned the No. 4 seed in the playoffs anyway with a victory over Miller Grove unless Stone Mountain upset second-ranked Southwest DeKalb this week, but the forfeits are especially welcome news to Miller Grove, which picked up two unexpected victories.
The GHSA did not disclose why the players were ineligible. They typically involve violations of residency, transfer, age or academic requirements.
Sources tell GHSF Daily that Stone Mountain’s forfeits results from the use of a player who started the season at Lithonia and trasnferred to Stone Mountain.

Breaking news!!!!
Stone Mountain head coach is still on the job in spite of the forfeits. From an inside source, the coach and the school were given false information as to the residence of the player in question. When students register in schools, it is not the job of the school to physically check to see if registered students actually live at the addresses given during registration. They have to go on the word of the parents who register their children. GHSA did not fine Stone Mountain because the school and the coach did what they were supposed to do. It’s unfortunate that the first year coach had to go through this, but he and the program will be fine. I hear they will have a monster team returning next year!!
Keep your heads up, Pirates. They can take away your games through paperwork, but the victories on the field can’t be denied. You guys are on your way to the top!!!!

I’m always here, I just don’t get into the back and forth many folks start here. E.P. hasn’t had the best year to date but I think that has to do with problems between the team and head coach from what I’ve been hearing. When it comes down to it I just want to see a good showing from our region against the rest of the state. Looks like that job is going to rest on McEachern, Woodstock, and Etowah this year.

How has Coach McDonald from Newnan been excluded from the “best new coach” discussion? Despite the fact that Newnan went 13-1 last year, they lost their QB, #1 receiver, tailback, and strongest lineman. EP fans are still here…We are going to Woodstock tomorrow night to support our RAIDERS…
This was an EP team with a lot of promise going into the season but things for whatever reason didn’t gel this year. A mix of bad coaching calls (too many trys at running up the middle with an undersized
“O” line), not having enough seniors that stepped up and took charge on the field, bad clock management, not having a QB that could pass or for that matter that could run the team, and just a year with lots of juniors and underclassmen playing on the varsity squad that maybe will be a good lesson for them to bounce back next year from.
I agree with Hoya Chuck…it would be nice to play at least ONE MORE WEEK regardless who or where but realistically this is not an EP team that needs to go to GRAYSON and get a BUTT whipping. This is an EP team that IF they played like they did against McEachern could keep the game interesting but I am afraid it’s an EP team that will play like it did against Harrison, Cherokee and Etowah. If they went to Grayson and played like that…it would be an embarassment.
So it’s on to Woodstock and hopefully play a good game. The #4 seed in Region 5A is still a toss-up so it’s WAIT and SEE!!! I really don’t think Grayson cares who shows up from 5A they are ready and loaded over there this year again!

Its unfortunate about what happened at these two schools. I guess thats what happens when you try to 1) be competitive in our region and 2) keep up with the BIG THREE. We all know that parents want their kids playing for winners and would do anything to get their child with a group of winners. Those teams my not get a shot but…………………..
WE STILL HAVE TEAMS THAT CAN GET IT DONE IN THE POST SEASON.
Worry about yourselves.

Not sure of the playoff scenarios but I’m hoping losses by Harrison, East, and Cherokee combined with a Marietta win will get the Blue Devils the 4 seed. They deserve it after last week’s double OT win over the Hoya.
The only excitement at East these days is hope that next week’s realignment will put EP back in AAAA where they might at least be competitive. I’m pretty sure we led the region in most plays over 50 yards surrendered, the D was lit up more than Macy’s Xmas tree! Congratulations to McE, Woodstock, and Etowah and good luck in the playoffs.

6-AAAAA scenarios
November 6th, 2009
11:50 am
For anyone in north Fulton/east Cobb interested in the convoluted 6-AAAAA playoff chase for the final two spots, here are the possibilities:
(All scenarios are based on the likelihood that Centennial will beat Wheeler)
If both Walton & Kell win tonight, both are in, Walton as No. 3 seed, Kell as No. 4.
If Pope beats Walton & Milton beats Kell, there is a 5-way tie for 3rd. Centennial and Pope will be the 2 playoff teams based on points differential from the 4 games each team played against the other 4. Pope must beat Walton by 6 points or more to get the 3rd seed.
If Walton beats Pope and Milton beats Kell, Walton is 3rd and Milton is 4th. Milton beats Kell & Centennial in tiebreaker.
If Pope beats Walton and Kell beats Milton, Kell is 3rd and Centennial is 4th. Centennial beats Walton & Pope in tiebreaker.

Vincent , Nothing but respect for Lowndes and Colquitt…..I just don’t understand why the rest of the Region never show Northside any….No excuses Warner Robins got MO on their side and beat the hell out of the Eagles ,any Eagle fan will tell you that…….Lowndes is a class act , but Warner Robins is a team that could beat the Vikes ,especially if the Vikes don’t mix it up and throw the ball ,The Demons are have a very good run defense ,all that I am saying…………Aviking fan ill be there.(omni)…..I think it would be a good idea to play up , Football no problem , but Baseball ,softball ,basketball and other sports are the problem……..The region I think did a great job of scheduling the South Ga school matchups vs the Houston county schools and vice versa by schuduling them on Fridays for the most part , but the Tuesday matchups the region could not help…….Tift is an hour and half maybe from Warner Robins, and that is the closes of the region 1 schools , I think if we were maybe even an hour away ,the powers that be would be all for playing up..

AVikingFan,
Well guess what? GHSA has added to Region 3-AAAAA another new school . Please welcome Savannah Arts Academy to the Region 3-AAAAA. Their current enrollment according to the web site is 696 students.
The only Class AAAAA schools in Region 3-AAAAA are Bradwell Institute, and Camden County. The nearest Class Class AAAAA for Bradwell Institute and Camden County to play in would be Region 1-AAAAA for Camden County, and Bradwell Institute would have to move to Region 4-AAAAA. or Region 1-AAAAA. Bradwell Institute can’t drop down to Class because they are a Class AAAAA School. GHSA would not allow it. You can play up, but you can not play down in classification. So you are right Northside Observer.
To qualify my statement, below is where I got the information from.
Savannah Arts Academy: Best High Schools – USNews.com

Wow….the Lassitter fans are really getting worked up. No doubt that Hutson Mason will get his yards no matter who they are playing. I still think that Roswell has a balanced offense while lassitter has a poor defense. If roswell offensive line controls the line of scrimage as expected, then it will begin to show by the 4th quarter. Roswell does not have a come from behind offense so they can not spot lassitter 14 points like they did Walton and expect to win. I still think that defense wins championships……ironically, both teams put up about the same number of points per game against common oponents this season; but roswell has the number 1 ranked defense on the region. SportsFan 31313, I hope that your predction is right tonight ! First & 10 Hornets!!!!!!!!!!!!!

vikingsonamission, maybe in lowndes and a couple other places they are. but a lot of places just want to make it to the playoffs. Maybe i am wrong, but it feels different this year compared to prior years. Grayson doesn’t have decades of success, as the school is 10 years old. This is new around here and we realize that this might be the only time we have this good of a team for a LONG time. This is the best senior class Grayson has seen and probably wont be matched soon.

HeadEast…
You need to take a DEEP breath and CALM down…
1st…There is NO WAY EP is moving DOWN to AAAA with the realignment…they are in AAAAA to stay…EP has been MORE THAN competitive as you put it against the other 5A AAAAA teams, this years team just had issues they either could not or WOULD not overcome.
EAST had NO pass defense and NO passing offense as Coach insisted on sticking with our “Michael Vick ball hogging wanna-be SR QB” instead of developing our more talented JR QB who will be leading the team next year!
Coach tried to stay with too many runs up the middle that worked the last two years when we had the power running back and “O” line that could push open holes, this year they could not do that. Things will be OK with the JV kids moving up and a more balanced offense next year.
NO ONE wants to have the team move back down to AAAA, last year showed how EP can play at this level but you will have the off years (just look at Harrison this year) so enjoy the game tonight (win or lose) and lets look to next years EP team…
GO RAIDERS!!!!

Wolverine Fan…
Don’t know about your “Cookie Cutter” comment but after visiting as many stadiums as I have in the last few years the biggest difference is the ATMOSPHERE generated by the fans both Home side and Visitors…
EP fans have outnumbered the Home fans at many of the schools we have played over the last few years and that along with the noise we make has caused many of the negative comments you see posted about EP…but that’s OK we have been proud of the way these kids have played and it’s been a great run for the kids graduating this year as they have been part of the entire 4 year run.
I have heard that “THE WOODSHED” is a hard place to play and win in for the visiting team so this should be fun tonight. As far as “Cookie Cutter” the RAIDER BONEYARD is a simple designed facility but the atmosphere at the games, our “CANNON”, and the great loud fans make the place ROCK!!! With Woodstock’s record I am sure you folks will pack the Home side tonight…EP will bring a good visitors side showing even with this years record, at this point they are playing for pride.
This is what makes high school football so much fun!!!!

Long time south Ga. HS football fan here…..1AAAAA will have a team not going to playoffs that will be better than 1/2 of the AAAAA teams in the playoffs.
I have seen more football games in my life that i want to admit…ask my wife…I RARELY blame a win or loss of officiating…and i wont blame the loss by my colquitt county packers sole on the officiating….BUT the worse thing that can happen in a football game is when the officials have a direct influence on the outcome of the game…and i am not talking about a judgement call here…but near the end of the first half colquitt county came up a foot short on what the officials said was fourth and a yard….turns out it should have been third and a yard, which would have resulted in 4th and the length of a football instead of turning the ball over to NS on downs!!!
Not saying the Packers would have scored…but then again NOONE can say they would not have…..WE WILL NEVER KNOW!!!!!!

Peachtree Ridge’s Wing T put up a grand total of 7 points on North, even though Lowndes allowed them 17 points. P Ridge was 0 for 5 on 4th down attempts.
The Lions coach elected to go for it 3 separate times on 4th and goal, twice from the 1 and once from the 3.
Go ahead and bring your Wing T and your 17 points to Suwanee, and we’ll see how it works out for you.
North’s defense won this game because their offense funbled the ball twice, and threw an interception to give Peachtree Ridge at least 3 short field attempts to score. The Lion’s “Roby” is a threat but the speed of North’s DB’s ran him down every time he got loose.
Looking forward to seeing NSWR loose the coin toss for their trip to Suwanee in the quarter-finals.

We play ball over here nowadays, and trust me Camden Co. these kids have a lot of heart and wont be blown away like all the experts think. Congrats to Eastside, 8-AAA Region champs for the second consecutive year, I think you host Grady or Towers in the first round. Eastside was young this year and went undefeated in their region . Alcovy lost to Griffin 30-3, but still made the playoffs in just their 4th year of existence. They have a tough draw playing at Thomas Co. Central, but anything can happen when the lights come on. Great year for Newton County football 3 schools 3 playoff teams! Also congrats to Dutchtown 15-14 over N.Clayton huge win for them they finished 7-3 and MISSED THE PLAYOFFS, really shows you how strong 4-AAAA was this year.

Hats off to a very good Warner Robins team as many have said on here already. Man did I ever start getting a very uneasy feeling about this game tonight. First we (Lowndes) start the game without our leading rusher (Franklin), and then we fumble and lose our first 2 attempts at running the ball (both fumbles by Franklins replacements). 1 of which (Hunter) was hurt at the very beginning of the game and so now we are without 2 of our starters. It was a good test for our depth tonight.
With the score still tied 10-10 in the 3rd quarter we then lose one of our defensive lineman (Jordan Black) to a concussion and now we are without 3 of our (Div 1 prospect) starters.
The difference in the game was the defense sucked it up and our qback had an outstanding game throwing the ball. Along with our fullback up the middle that was our offense. Also hats off to the offensive line for Lowndes. Wingbacks had nothing for Lowndes tonight.
So to sum it up, we played the game without 3 starters, had 4 very costly fumbles giving the Demons good field position on each one and yet the boys sucked it up and came out on top pulling away in the end.
Proud of the Lowndes kids tonight in beating a very hungry, should be in the playoffs, Warner team. Hopefully we will be healthy a few weeks from now when we head to Camden.
Thank goodness for the depth we had to cover for the losses of some very good ball players.

P Ridge could have made this a completely different game, except that the coach chose to “go for it” 3 times with 4th and goal. Regardless of what the AJC article says the P Ridge coach was 0 for 5 on 4th down attempts. I shouted “Go for it” for 6 decisions, and the moron only thought better of it the 6th time when they finally missed a field goal from 35 yards. It would have been so much easier to make those 3 inside the 10.
Only 2 of the “4th and Goal” situations were in the first half.
Terrible coaching by P Ridge, the score at the half should have been 7 to 6. And P Ridge could have taken the lead in the second half by making their 3rd easy field goal.
Stupid Coach! Nonetheless, North actually stopped them. I believe North stopped P Ridge SEVEN times in the red zone. OK – no doubt about the bad coaching but still pretty darn good defense by North. If North allows one of those touchdowns, then maybe the coach looks brilliant?
North actually turned the ball over 5 times. Only one of those times led to a score, and P Ridge was stuffed when it mattered the other times. Kudo’s to P Ridge’s defense for causing those 5 turnovers. Kudo’s to North’s defense for making sure that only one of them led to a score.
Other than the 4th down attempts, it is hard to see what else P Ridge could have done differently. Lombardo was completely ineffective as a passer (except for a couple of times) and North’s defense repeatedly put pressure on him. P Ridge did well up the middle until North swapped in their “Jumbo” D line. The Jumbo line stuffed the Wing T every time it mattered. About the only play that worked well consistently for P Ridge was the off tackle play. And North mostly stuffed that in the second half also. So I am really not sure what else you would have had your coach do? He clearly just did not believe North could repeatedly stuff his 4th and short plays.
In the meantime, North’s spread can score from ANY time and ANY where on the field. The offense repeatedly sputtered tonight, but they did enough when they had to. At NO time did P Ridge lead in this game. It wasn’t a cake walk, but North’s defense made it obvious that 7 points wasn’t going to win this game.
Oh well. Hard fought battle. 2 good teams. Fortunately the refs did not influence the outcome of the game, despite a couple of questionable calls. Stupid coaching by P Ridge. Good defense by P Ridge. Great Defense by North.
I coached several players on both teams in little league football. It is fantastic to see them do well.

I still want to see how all the QBs do in the state playoffs. If I had to pick between Gainesville’s Blake Sims and Flowery Branch’s Connor Shaw, Sims would be my pick for that game. He was electrifying, and was a threat to score any time he touched the ball. Shaw looked fine, the Gainesville defense didn’t give him much time to throw in the first half, and he simply didn’t have as many offensive weapons around him at Flowery Branch.

Lowndes vs. McEachern

Lassiter vs. Colquitt
*Woodstock will upset North Gwinnett
You are assuming that Newnan will beat which ever one that they face Union Grove or MLK. That my friend will be the toughest game Newnan will have played so far this year.
You are really off base if you think for a minute that Lassiter or Colquitt will get past Stephenson. I watched some of the Lassiter game last night and they do have a good QB. Stephenson is so fast and big, therefore, Hutson Mason would be running for his life all night. Stephenson will bring so much pressure that he would have his absolute worst game of the year.

Newton Co., Please trust me no one at Camden is talking blow-outs. Yes this team is young but trust me Mr. hating A– dakotah Camden has gotten so much better but we will not go down without a fight, against Lowndes if we win against Newton. That goes for you also DavaoJeff. When people are hating for no unknown reason, its because of the success of the program. In the playoffs we play the same teams everyone else plays we go very deep into the play-offs every year.

I find it very funny that the EP fans are now throwing their head coach under the bus. These same fans over the past couple of seasons have placed the coach on a pedestal, a true football god to them, this is a coach who came in and totally turned a team around,a true worst to first.
My oldest daughter graduated from EP in 2002, during her 4 years at EP you could not pay the students to attend the game. And now over the past couple of years with some success the stands were full. And the first sign of trouble all the blame goes to the coach. Not sure of the things that have gone on at EP this year first hand anyway, but am hearing the coach is not playing the right players and running the wrong plays. First this is coming from the Bandwagon section, these same folks only started going when they had a winner in town.
Not playing the right players? Who knows what is really going on , disipline problems bad grades or not enough talent in key positions, or may the coach is truly looking to get out not real sure whats going on, but bashing your coach is not the right thing to do. After all where were you at before he came along, hold on I will tell you, AT THE BOTTOM.
This coach has had some real good talent over the past couple of years, a few players have even gone on to play college ball. Without this coach who know what would have happened? Me personaly not a coach Reid fan, but I do like what he has done at EP. Sure his teams had some talent, all teams have talent, and a good coach can get the talent out of the boys, a bad coach just looks good when he has talented players.
Moving to AAAAA is a big step for any program, made the playoffs the first year and just barely this year and they have the luxury of playing Grayson, a very good team. We all what should happen in this game but the game still has to be played. Should be a blow out, but stranger things have happened. Don’t really think it will be close though. Well anyway good luck to both teams after all these still are kids, young men. They all need direction, whether its on the football field or molding these students to into young men.
JUST DON’T START BASHING THE ONE YOU IS DOING THE DIRECTING. Not good for business EP FANS.

Region 5-AAAAA crowd – I have to believe that Marietta takes the #4 seed. GHSF was predicting them as the #4 seed anyway and last night played out just like every figured.

McEachern over Brookwood
Woodstock over Dacula
Etowah over South Gwinnett (upset special!)
Grayson over Marietta

I think the only way changes are made is if the big donors draw the line & start withholding donations to the school. BTW, Good luck tonight. A win makes the difference between hosting in the first round & taking a 4 to 5 hr bus trip to Savannah.

Wolverine Fan…
EP fans…looking at and knowing they were probably looking at a 5/5 season and no playoff games FILLED your visitors side stands at the start of the game. They were loud and VERY supportive of our RAIDERS!!!
Woodstock has a VERY good team, with lots of speed…this was a game even at the START of the season everyone knew would be a tough win. Our RAIDERS came to play and made a good game of it going into halftime down only 14/7.
Woodstock had the BENEFIT of BOTH first half scores coming on “SHORT FIELD” possesions as EAST went for a 4th down deep in its own territory and the Woodstock “D” held. EP then scored to tie the game but tried a low margin onside kick that Woodstock recoved and again with a short field scored fast.
The 2nd half was ALL Woodstock and yes by late 4th quarter our stands had emptied out a LOT…But I would be more concerned with YOUR HOME stands…At the START of the game your HOME side wasn’t even full, there were a lot of SEATS open…With a team like Woodstocks at 9/1 and the #2 seed in the region you should have had STANDING ROOM ONLY and folks lined up around the fences!!! Talk about lack of support for a team, I would grab my pants, turn around and look at your own backyard!!
I hope you have a better showing when Dacula comes to “THE WOOD” next week!
On another note…”The Wood” is a nice facility, VERY friendly folks at the gate & concessions and good close view of the field.

Newnan’s Coach McDonald not being mentioned is just a typical snub. 13-1 last year, the loss coming in the state AAAAA semifinals…then the entire starting Offense and most of the Defense graduated…he took over. Newnan, 10-0 again. How many new coaches can claim THAT? Tis ok, we know what we’ve got!

Speaking negative, about someone success, for no unknown reason and never giving any type of credit is hating and thats you my friend. You sound offended. I know the success of the school you represent, and no matter what i would never take anything away from that. When we were losing in the first or second round every year prior to 2002 no one said a thing, now with some success, its never no credit. We can do nothing about the Region, So the three non- region games we play we play very good football teams and our record against them is very good. If we were no good then beat us in the play-offs no matter where we play. Good teams find a way to win home or away. Please sir tell me the obivious. Please for me take a look at our non-region and play-off teams we have played no cup cakes there, then look at our record against them. And by the way the teams we’ve played in the play-offs none have been from region 3AAAAA so were have those victories come from. HINT THE OTHER REGIONS.

Lowndes would have no championships. Unless you consider Region 1AAAAA
another region that doesn’t beat up on each other.
Also, the question would then beg what is Newnan’s excuse? They don’t exactly beat up on each other in that region either.
The fact is Camden has been the best team in the state and only team left standing at the end of 2 seasons. Doesn’t matter how they got there. They got there.

Yes they be fresh but what if the game comes down to the fourth quarter and the starters are tired, the legs are not used to going entire games, my point is it can also hurt you as well, I truly understand your point my point is we can do nothing about it. We are damed if we do and damed if we dont. Thes kids can compete and win in any region, not saying by a long shot that we will win the region every year, but for sure a major force every single year. You sound like a good guy, its just seems you have a problem with Camden and yes i did read your post last year. Its all in fun i know but i’m a former player, and bloggers make it seems if it was’nt for the week region we could not compete. Call the GHSA and petition for them to change the rules. Camden did petition the GFHSA TO MOVE INTO REGION 1AAAAA, travel rules during weekly events was the reason, not cost like you once said,

I posted last night, but I do not think I made my point clear…and NHS 1AAAAA champs your response and explanation was TOTALLY wrong!
With appx. 3 minutes left in the first half Colquitt county had the ball inside NHS 20 yard line and it was 3rd and 1 for a first down….after the 3rd down play there was a measurement and the pack was the length of the football short…..AT WHICH THE OFFICIALS MOTIONED FIRST AND 10 NORTHSIDE…DENYING THE PACKERS WHAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN THEIR FOURTH DOWN PLAY! IF COLQUITT COUNTY PICKS UP THE FIRST DOWN AND SCORES A TD OR EVEN KICKS A FG…..THE GAME WOULD HAVE BEEN A TOTALLY DIFFERENT OUTCOME!!! PERIOD!
Not saying colquitt would have won….BUT i am saying any sane and logical football fan HAS to admit it sure as heck could have been the difference in winning and losing!
anyway it is done….1AAAAA is by far the best AAAAA region in the state and the playoffs will prove thus! Warner robins are better than 2/3 of the 5A teams headed to playoffs and they will be sitting at home!

IMO who will be moving on to Round 2 in AAAAA
Camden
Lowndes
McEachern
Peachtree Ridge
Newnan (but they better be careful)
MLK/Union Grove – Predicition MLK
Grayson
Roswell (Had to think on that one a little).
North Gwinnett
Woodstock
Northside WR
Union Grove/MLk my pick UG
Lassiter
South Gwinnett
Stephenson
Colquit County
Next Round
Lowndes
McEachern
Newnan
Grayson
North Gwinnett
Northside WR
Lassiter/South Gwinnett is a tough one. Take Lassiter with Home Field.
Stephenson/Colquit is a tough one. Take Stephenson with Home Field.
Next Round
Lowndes/McEachern Home field will not matter on this one…Lowndes
Newnan/Grayson whoever wins the coin toss for home field advantage.
North Gwinnett/Northside whoever wins the coin toss for home field.
Lassiter/Stephenson home field will not matter on this one..Stephenson
Championship Game
Lowndes vs. North Gwinnett/Northside will beat Stephenson (Home Field not important.
Champs
Lowndes
Yea I’m a homer, but if I didn’t think they were the best team in the state I wouldn’t pick em.
Besides you will not beat Lowndes in the Dome, so the best chance of gettin em will be before they ever get there.
Newnan/Grayson will have the best chance of taking Lowndes down.
Actually Newnan, because Lowndes owes Grayson.

But I think the Lowndes Offensive and Defensive lines will be too much for your wildcats. I also believe there is a good chance you will see 3 1-AAAAA teams in the semi-finals. Would like to see Valdosta there to make the 4th, but their draw is pretty brutal.
You heard it hear first. I believe Lownded, NSWR and Colquitt Co. all advance to semi finals. Then Lowndes vs Coin Toss for NSWR and Colquitt Co. for AAAAA championship
Valdosta might surprise just to give their outbound coach a boost.

I think Northside will pretty much coast and then handle North Gwinett they did not impress against a mediocre PRHS

Good call, Suwanee 0wnz. Bill Ballard and his staff beat Peachtree Ridge last night in front of Tennessee and Alabama scouts, I feel for the squad. Really I do. 0-5 on 4th downs, three of those times were at the goal line. The outcome of this game should have been much different. Biggest mistake was the continuous use of the running game. You’re playing against the most solid defense in the state, come on!! They were predictable just about every time. I haven’t seen Nick Lombardo have the opportunity to use his arm much this season, surely NG has been watching tape Coach Ballard! Those qb keepers will work against the likes of North Forsyth and Duluth, NOT North Gwinnett. I hope Bill Ballard slept real hard on this one. No cupcake teams down the line, they’ve got to run different play options if they’re going to venture back to the Dome. One thing working in their favor, P’Ridge was a 2-loss team when they went into the Dome to face Camden. They’ve got it in em, let’s just hope their coaches don’t screw it up for them.

Greetings UG,
It’s okay…. No excuses….. Camden County beat the day lights out of Bradwell Institute. Bradwell Institute did score first in the quarter and even the place Kicker could not get the PAT….. It was short lived for Bradwell Institute with that lead. The substitutions came in, and it was all over from there. They got their %#@ Kicked. Camden County had a lot of different offensive looks besides running the Wing T Offense. Camden County is down but let me tell you, they are still a very good football team.
Bradwell Institute will now enter the playoff post season as the number four seed.( Heck, in my opinion I’d rather them stay home, and regroup for next year) They will travel to Stone Mountain to pay against a very good Stephenson football team where the results will be one and done. I have so much to say about this but I will reserve my comments until after the season is completely over.

Everyone agrees that the refs blew it big time, but a grown man in a position of leadership over high school kids is supposed to be able to control himself. Propst has proven on at least two occasions that he can’t (he was ejected in last year’s Northside game in Moultrie). I don’t doubt his coaching ability, but there should be more to it than just football. I don’t think it’s a secret that he also had serious problems in Alabama. SportsFan and everyone else I can truly understand how a Coach can lose it during the heat of the moment during a game. I officiate basketball and I’ve heard it all from the Coaches, mostly they just want to be heard and get their point across. There comes a point when a Coach can cross the line, I wasn’t at the game so I can only go by what has been written on here of what happen. SportsFan, were you at the Bradwell game last night? Man it turned cold very quick last night. The QB for Bradwell was very quick and they had some very big players, number 56 comes to mind. YO and VikingFan don’t make your reservations to quick to come to Kingsland, they are in the perfect setup game to get beat by Newton. Everyone expects them to walk into the second round and face the Vikings (so do I) but if they’re not careful they could be one and done just like it almost happen last year after the big game against NSWR when they almost lost to Woodstock. With that said, good luck to all the teams who made the playoffs and GO WildCats

olesarge,
Yes I was there. Wilson Brown is quick on his feet. But those guys are young players and are injured. You can tell, but they were playing with their heart. The good thing is that they will be back next year, and with the experience they will get this year from playing Camden County, and playing against Stephenson, they will definitely will be a force to be reckoned with next season.
Camden County has an average quarter back that can execute very well in the Wing T Offense. # 32 Ean Days is a very good running back and he is very fast. They also use him on special teams, ie kick off returns and punt returns. They also have running back # 13 Andre Johnson who is just as good as Ean Days. Others to watch out for is defensive back #27 Steven Murphy who can really fast and he can really hit. (He hits like a Ronnie Lott) Also, you have # 90 Tight End, & Defensive End player Derrick ( “Steak”) Saulsberry whom I know will be a Division 1 prospect. Camden County will be doing a lot of substituting in and out of players.
Newton County will definitely have their hands full. I’m telling you that they probably don’t know what they are in for. “THEY HAD BETTER EAT THEIR WHEATIES”!!!!!!

Yo, Reeze, AVikingFan,
Question for you. Region 3-AAAAA Jenkins of Savannah and Bradwell Institute are tied in the Region with a 4-3 Region Record. However; Bradwell Institute has a 6-4 overall record and Jenkins has a 4-6 overall record. Jenkins beat Bradwell Institute in the regular season. Does Jenkins get the number three seed and Bradwell Institute get the number four seed because Jenkins beat Bradwell in the region game, or does Bradwell Institute get the number three seed, and Jenkins get the number four seed because Bradwell has the better overall record?
Anyone out there can tell me?

Camden County not only runs the Wing T offense, but Coach Herron does very well showing different offensive looks. They can and will confuse your defense with those looks. (schemes)

Woodstock is one the most underrated teams in the state…my opinion that they will upset North Gwinnett is solely my opinion…I saw Woodstock lose a undefeated McEachern team who they could’ve beat by 3 or 4 touchdowns and been undefeated…It won’t be a walk in the park for N Gwinnett…Woodstock has alot of talent and they have to iron out all the kinks and I think they can…they remind me of one of those old 90s Valdosta teams.

Stephenson Jaguars!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I saw some of their clips…. They are a very good team. Number 4 is pretty fast and he versatile….. They have size just as big as Bradwell Institute. And yes, Bradwell Institute does have size. (But they are inured) They (Bradwell Institute) had better do a lot of studying and look for key players. It seems like that entire offense has speed.

SportsFan31313 – Each region has their own formula to break ties for playoff positions. Usually when only two teams are tied, they go by the head to head game as the tie breaker. When three teams are tied, some regions count non region AAAAA wins. Other regions count both wins and losses in non region AAAAA games. Our region uses the fewest points allowed among the tied teams for their respective games and their games with any other playoff team. I have no idea how Region 3-AAAAA does it. Ask your head coach is the best advice I can give.
Sorry ’bout last night but glad you made the playoffs. Now just go up there and surprise Stephenson, who may be looking ahead!
I can’t believe what happened last night at Northside. Colquitt was driving, after a 3rd and 1 play, the ref’s called for a measurement, then sqaid 1st and 10 for Northside. Heck a field goal could have tied the game. A TD would/could have won it.
In our game we rec’d the opening kickoff and fumbled on our 1st offensive play (a sub wingback was in for a starter who was out for the whole game)and he fumbled. Warner Robions prompted scoired and kicked off and on our 1st offensive play we fumbled again ( a different sub wingback). Later we muffed a punt on our own 15 yd line. For the game we had 4 fumbles. But we still led 31-10 and put in our B team, which WR went down the field and scored on late to make it 31-17.
Glad the playoffs are here. Congrats to Northside. They tied Lowndes, each with one region loss, but are the first place team by our playoff rules. They should go far in the playoffs and would not surprise me to play is in the dome for the title.

By the way, have the large groups of Lowndes County Vikings fans (who shamelessly road the Colquitt County bandwagon all week) returned to their rightful place as Viking fans. It was frankly sad to imagine so many Viking fans riding the Packer bandwagon.
Of course, the football game was played at McConnell-Talbert Stadium in Warner Robins. Of course, Colquitt County was a visiting team. Of course, the game concluded the regular season. Like every other visiting team that has rolled through the MAC since early 1996, Colquitt County was defeated.
It is great to be a Northside Eagle. It is great to, once again, hoist a regional championship.

SportsFan, I hope (expect) Camden to win next weekend and make it into the second round which more than likely will be against Lowndes. Hopefully it will be just as good as the game the last time they both played here in Camden 7-6, now that was HS football at its best and we had a ball in the stands with the Lowndes fans as well, we all tailgated together, shared food in the stands and talked much smack. After the game we congratulated each other and moved on.
Yes Brandwell did look like a young team and should improve next year. As you know Camden has a young team as well and the QB last night will be back next year as well as alot of the running backs, Days #32 is a good runner and that move he put on that DB was something else. #90 is a big young man as well and should be getting alot of attention. Most of the defense that played from the mid 3rd qt on were underclassmen and will be back next year. This might not be the year for the Cats, but next year look out.

First of all, I tip my hat to Lassiter… I assume they played well, I couldn’t see anything because the bleachers were full when I got there. Do any of the Peachtree Ridge/North Gwinnett people have a scouting report on Collins Hill?
PR fans, Kell has a solid defense but a bad offense. If your D is anything like it was when I saw it in 06 & 07, you shouldn’t have much of a problem stopping them. I mean, we shut them out and you saw what just happened to our defense…
NG fans, Centennial is a fairly dangerous team. Their option has been very effective once they figured out that they need to stop passing the ball. Their 5-5 record is deceptive, they had to forfeit a 40-point win. They turned the ball over 7 times against Walton and still scored 31 points and won.
Let me point out that the last time we played Collins Hill in the first round, we won… and then we beat a supposedly invincible Region 8 team… and then we won State… I’m just saying.

North Gwinnett’s Coach Spire is a self centered jerk. Here is HIS quote…“I wasn’t here for the first 48 years of the program,” North Gwinnett coach Bob Sphire said. “I don’t want to put a damper on it, but I won a whole lot of regions in 21 years of coaching.” He coached my son there for two years and that was the feeling most of us had then.. Hornet Dave: Collins Hill is led by Charles Perkins, a GT commitment, who rushed for over 1500 yards. Peachtree Ridge & Dacula were only schools to hold him under 100 yards. Taylor Heinecke is the Eagles QB & is fairly competent unless they run Perkins to death & get too one dimensional.
Defense is competent, but had trouble with spread option offenses (except Mill Creek).

FootballFan. Well that is the second time you have trashed Coach Sphire. Hopefully you realize that Bob Sphire from Kentucky is different than the previous Coach Mark Spires from Alabama (I believe).
Regardless, Coach Sphire is exactly correct. In 50 years of football North never won a division championship despite having teams that could have done so. North had a monkey on their backs that Bob Sphire removed. His cool confidence is exactly what was needed to make sure the players played their game without losing their heads in tough game situations. I think any P Ridge fan will tell you that P Ridge was “out coached” this week. The fact that Bob Sphire has been there before, building teams, winning divisions, winning State Championships is one of the things that makes the North team so formidable this year.
I am sorry to hear some coach did not take as much notice of your son as you thought he deserved. Meddling moms and egotistical daddies trying to relive their youth is one of the toughest things about coaching. In my experience, every parent believes “the team” would be better if you would just give their kid a better position or more playing time. Unfortunately, coaches cannot just teach kids and win games. They also have to deal overreaching parents and it has driven many coaches to throw in the towel.
From what I can see, Bob Sphire is an excellent judge of talent. He moved several kids from prior positions to places where they could really shine. If it really was your team that turned him loose – thank you. Georgia football is better off with another outstanding coach.

We have good talent but Coach won’t play IT in the right place. #5 was offered a full ride to UGA but Coach Collins doesn’t THINK he is good enough to play QB. TJ Moon needs to be carrying the ball at lest 20 times per game. COACH COLLINS IT IS LONG PAST TO MAKE A CHANGE…..IT’S NOT WORKING. How much would it take to get Rick Tomberlien from Valdosta? Hey we will treat you right and won’t fire you after a loss. Yes Daddy Ball is alive and well in the Grove. You should never count out an opponent based on past performances in which you were not involved; yes you did score on Stephenson BUT your mistake was to conclude that since you were able to score in that game MLK would be your next victim. Take this advice, One Game At A Time; NEVER, NEVER UNDER ESTIMATE THE OTHER TEAM ON THE OPPOSITE END OF THE FIELD. Then and only then will you not end up looking foolish!

Let me 1st congratulate Lassitter. Hutson Mason is he real deal; that was the 1st time I saw him in person. He had command in the pocket; threw a nice spiral; had time to check off different receivers even when pressured; and ran out of the pocket for 1st downs at significant points in the game. Very impressive performance by Lassitter. Unfortunately, it was a tough night for the roswell starting quarterback. First possession he threw an interception that let to a touchdown; he later hrew another interception that was returned for a touchdown; and after the backup led the team to the lassitter 1 yard line and had to go in for 1 play due to an injury, he came in and fumbled the snap and kicked the ball which lassitter recovered; the game was over then. It was a great night for high school football and there was obvious electricity in the air. Lassitter recievers were very disciplined and ran good routes. It was like a 7 on 7 drill all night for lassitter. I feel a little bad for roswell starting quarterback, as I had warned earlier in the week that this was Roswell’s major weakness. When he was frustrated at not playing well, he quit the team after being criticized by some of his players in the 4th quarter. Hard to imagine a senior leading a 9-0 team into a region championship game would quit when things start to go poorly; not mentally tough at all. The backup qu (#4) actually rallied the team and gave them a chance. It appears that the backup qb gives the team more options in the playbook. THe backup who is a junior, has better arm stregnth and can make the throws when neccessary to roswell’s 2 very good wide-outs. It would have required a perfect game on that night to beat lassitter because they played very well. Can’t throw 2 interceptions for touchdowns and fumble at the 1 yard line going in for a score and expext to beat Lassitter. Now we have a brutal 1st round draw against Charles Perkins and Collins Hill. Good luck Lassitter and congrats on your region championship !

Newnan had a tight game against East Coweta although the the score did not reveal it #1 Tay Willis was exciting to watch but Newnan scored 29 in the fourth quarter to squash EC’s hopes of a Rivalry upset (it is like brothers fighting one another) Valdosta is coming to Drake stadium Newnan should be OK as long as they do not bring the Ghosts of Valdosta past!!!!! EC could give Lowndes a better game than people think if they look ahead to Camden my prediction it will be close..

Hey Yo, you are right about the ghosts of referees past. I think every team has some questionable calls and downright wrong calls made against them each year. The call made at the Mac against colquitt was definitely wrong. I would like to apologize for some of my posts that may have had the wrong tone, we are talking about high school kids. Good luck to everyone in the playoffs, it is a whole new season!

WOW Union Grove what happened? 20-0? I knew that was going to happen, MLK worst teams almost seem to be better than yall best team. MLK is high quality team, WHY I mean WHY did you all overlook them? The one UG poster said at least they scored on Stephenson, then MLK beats UG by the same 20-0 score. Hilarious. Question: if Im not mistaken, didn’t UG coach used to coach at Stockbridge? If this is true, I feel sorry for UG. Stockbridge has been one of the worst programs around for a minute, what did the coach do for such a kush job? He never won at Stockbridge. UG has a great school; one of the highest ranked school academically in GA and the nation as well. I know the area well, good talent in that area they are only like 10-15 miles from MLK/ Dekalb Co. I feel sorry for you guys, because before the season UG fans predicted coaching( daddyballl) would be the teams downfall. But yall were crazy to think you were going to just beat MLK, I just don’t understand it. On top of that, yall coach went to Newnan, and he’s proably been there a couple years and won like 90% of his games. Oh well UG, I expect yall to roll over WF this week, salvage your season and good luck.

GO UG! We tried to put the ball into the phenoms (#20) hands last night and he fumbled and dropped a pass where he was wide open. Also he takes it upon his self to change the plays on the last drive while he is playing quaterback. We need to give the ball to #4 and open up the passing game to someone other then #5. Our coaching is a major problem but also the lack of a “team” amotosphere is also a major problem. We had kids bad mouthing the coaches on the bus on the way home in front of the players and coaches. What we need is to get the bad apples out of the grove and play like a team again.

The ghosts and bad referees have definitely moved from Cleveland Field to the Concrete Palace and the Mac. It seems to be almost impossible for visiting teams to win at those locations even when they are evenly matched. Colquitt, sorry about the bad call but unfortunately it happens a lot in HS football. I agree those refs need to be santioned since that was not a blown judgement call that was a failure to follow backup procedures.

Talkin about size making a diffence in the trenches, MLK players being small and whatnot. I wasn’t at the game, all I can go by is the score. 20-0 is 20-0. We didn’t score an OFF TD on MLK either, I was at that game though and MLK is a good team. They basically shut us down. Just like they did yall.

Concerning the behavior of Colquitt’s coach, last year he was ejected for unsportsman like conduct and he should have been ejected again on Frday night. There is no doubt that he is a knowledgable football coach who has/will turn Colquitt into a football power again. But the question is, based on his past on the field/off the field behavior, has Colquitt sold its soul just to have a good football program? Should’nt a HS coach be a good role model as well as a good coach?

I can tell you for a fact there are students and were students playing in other counties that do not or DID NOT live in the county. The coaches did not know. So, to say you find it hard to believe…..LET ME TELL YOU. It’s not that HARD.
My father coached Louisiana football for MANY YEARS and he had a RELATIONSHIP with his players on and off the field. Unfortuantely, that may not ALWAYS be the case here.
And most IMPORTANTLY, IGNORANCE has nothing to do with it. I can tell you this FIRST hand.

Also regarding roswell / Lassitter, roswell had some players out due to injuries. They would have lost anyway with the performance of the starting qb; but the senior starting safety was also out. He is an agressive hitter and solid coverage guy but was out with a hip injury. In his place was a wr who had not played defense all year, and it showed; can’t really blame him though. His replacement looked confused most night and appeared to be affraid to tackle when lassitter runners reached the roswell secondary defense. Hopefully, Roswell can make the adjustments and beat Collins Hill. Roswell shpould be at full stregnth next week; I’m sure that Collins Hill offense will be a lesser challenge for Roswell defense than Lassitter with all due respect to Charles Perkins running ability. Sometimes, you never know how 16-17 year old kids are going to respond on friday nights when the lights go on. Go Roswell!!!!

Go on ga.prep county and really take a look at the whole region and their non region schedule( a lot AA ,AAA and even some A competition). UG Parent, I am just frustrated. We HAVE GREAT TALENT but we are not playing to potential. Hats off to the defense they did a fantastic job. Let me ask you, do you think #14 is the best kid on our team for QB? I am not saying anything about him personally just is he the best on our team for that spot? Our opening set of plays that we ran were terrible. Ok we have been running the same plays all year, at what point do we say hey this is not working let’s try something else? We need some serious work on our passing and pass blocking game. When I said give the ball to #20 I really meant him and #4. If we are going to run up the gut why not just try some lead blocking. Our special teams looked like they were just trotting down the field. When we punted MLK went all out rushing 6, 7, 8 guys trying to block it. When they punted we were rushing what 3, 4 guys?
Newton County, we miss Mike McDonald but one of the reasons he left is because with the addition of Woodland they would not let him keep his entire staff together. Although the refs made a BAD, BAD, BAD, BAD call on the pass interference play in the end zone which resulted in an MLK TD they called a pretty good game and we would not have won anyway. After we stopped MLK on their opening drive, they stopped us and the bad snap on the punt which gave them the ball at the 20 started things in the wrong direction. Good job MLK and good luck to you guys.

This Friday might be a sweep by 1 AAAAA. Boy, can not wait to see blog light up if that happens. That would mean 4 AAAAA would be all knocked out. Only 3 AAAAA team that wins will be Camden.

Pull your head out of his crotch a read what I write and do not put words into my mouth to build your own pedestal to place him on. My problems with that coach is he will personally pick up a phone and call parents and ask where $50.00 is after they have already sent in close to $1000.00 to the booster club. But he will not take the time to call on one of his players that misses 2 weeks of school and 4 weeks of football due to a serious injury obtained on the football field. That program is about Sphire and his ego… not the players. I read where that coach from Atlanta that was fired this year had over 90% of his seniors out on scholarship…Check Bob’s record.. I don’t think Newnan will have any trouble with Valdosta or ML King. ML King will be a tougher contest than Valdosta but Newnan is to strong for them.
Stephenson will breeze thru Bradwell and be tested by Colquit.
North Gwinnett/ Woodstock is an exciting potential 2nd round game. one of those two will win that bracket. NSWR has an easy draw until the third round but they lose there.
Lassiter/South Gwinn may be the highest scoring game. If they both advance.
Grayson/Newnan i agree with an earlier post would probably be decided by whoever wins the coin toss for home field.

True, I’ll be pulling for Valdosta this week, heck they’re from my county. Their team is coming around and rallying around their coach, who may be coaching his last game for them. As close as they played Northside, Colquitt, and Warner Robins, I believe they have a chance to pull off the upset. That’s all I said. A chance. I never said they WOULD.
This week all of our supporters will be concentrated on doing everything we can to show the team we believe in’em, love’em. and will be there Friday night cheering for’em.

Now I am counting Branswell In. out and that will be a good game for the first half, untill Stephenson imposes there will on them, but until these teams meet, then I will give my opinion.. Anyway I will be cheering for Colqiutt to win because I want to you to make this drive to Stone Mountain DavaoJeff and cheer on Colqiutt, heck I will give you gas money for long trip home after your lose.
Heck why even play in this year Playoffs. It seem as though many of you all have Crowned Camden State Champions Already. I always thought the play is still played inbetween the hashes. TCCHS JACKETS, I’m a little worried now…a cracked clavicle sounds pretty serious!!! Eric Dotson has improved soo much as the season has progressed! He runs “the offense” with precision and has become a good passer as well. I don’t have a lot of confidence in our backup QB…not b/c he lacks ability, but b/c he dont have that many reps behind center. Oh well, lets just hope Eric is a fast healer and that the defense keeps playing lights out like they have all season!!

Go UG. #14 may not be a great option QB but you should no that #5 was asked in both the Stephenson and MLK games to go in at QB and refused to. Our problem is both in coaching and having some players with this “superstar” mentality.

Marietta’s rb #21 may be the best in the region or just behind McCeachern’s Bennet. He is though, about their only real weapon.
Marietta is basically the four seed in region 5 by default . Four teams finished tied for 4th, all but Marietta lost their final game.
A scrappy, but very average team. I have only seen them once, so take it for what it’s worth.

UGParent, I did wonder if #5 or his Dad did not want him in at QB so they would not risk injury before his baseball contract. One thing that is not fair to the Coaches is that fans are not privileged to all the information that might change our opinions. If a player refused to go where I told him, I would show him the bench I don’t care how good he might be. The Coaching staff MUST HAVE CONTROL AND DISIPLINE ON THE FIELD!!!!

CCS finally posted the Marist SWD game on television last night. I was kinda surprise at Godfrey’s comment at half time about penalties when all the penalties called were so apparent. I was also amazed that Chadwick did not go crazy over the numersous face maks that were missed. PLAYERS helmets just do not come off after every play. However, SWD played a good game, but I would like to see it on a dry field.

Big J. I haven’t heard on #14 yet. Let me say first that the kid I’m going to reference isn’t my kid. If you look at our o-line they haven’t been the same since they started rotating the center position. The kid that started the season there was doing a good job and we were putting up points and then they started rotating there and we haven’t been the same since. Also this we we didn’t start #53 who has been our best o-lineman to date. I don’t know what the coaching staff is doing but they need to fix it ASAP. I agree our superstars don’t block at all for each other. I would like to see #26 get the ball some. I watched him during the JV season and that kid is a baller. Maybe we can show our backs that someone else can carry the rock.

big j, I am with you, I for one would support setting an example with these kids even if it means we lose to Windsor Forest. Did you notice our special teams’ poor performance Saturday?

I agree. Union Grove special teams is suspect. We can blame #14 all we want, but if he has no o-line to block, he can only do so much. Our play calling still is more predictable than a Jerry Springer show. It’s almost like the plays are scripted, and there is no improvisation or thinking anywhere. I heard that players were yelling at the coach after the game. We need to be together as a team. This Friday’s game is not a guaranteed win, at least not with the way we have been playing. I hope we can pull together and win, but for now I am not holding my breath.

Greetings HomeFieldAdvantage,
What a very nice invitation, and this is the second time you have given me such a great offer. I very much would love to accept your offer, and attend but unfortunately the family is not hearing that. I can’t even part my lips and say that we are going to Valdosta to see Lowndes County play a school that be hammered by Lowndes County when we have our own team to support in the “A” “T” “L” area. I will never hear the end of that. So unfortuately i will be traveling to Stone Mountain and pull for Bradwell Institute. They will need all of the Fan support that they can get.
What I will say and I want Stephenson Fans to know is that while some of the Stephenson Fans are saying and thinking that Stephenson will just “BREEZE THROUGH” Bradwell Insttute in this first round had better think again. While I know that Bradwell Insitute may not win this game for obvious reasons that I have been mentioning weeks ago, I would not go as far as to say that it will be a “BREEZE THROUGH”.
You may want to know, no matter how bad Bradwell Insitute have played against some of these South Georgia teams, Bradwell Institute have never been a push over on a North Georgia or a Breeze Through to a North Georgia team. Although Bradwell Institute players are injured, and they are a very young team, I will say that they will come, and play with their hearts. While I do respect, and I know how good Stephenson have been over the years, and this year, I’m sure that Stephenson will not just breeze through Bradwell Institute. You can tell that to “grayram”, and the fans of Stephenson.

Just when I think GHSA is legit without showing favors for some schools, once again they prove me. It seems strnage that they realinged the brackets so that Griffin and South West Dekalb are not in the same bracket which moved Marist into the line where South West Dekalb was. Now we have Tucker, and Marist in line to play Griffin. HMMMMMMMMMMM.
I think the GHSA has purposed that Griffin and South West Dekalb is a Georgia Dome big Money Maker. All week-end I couldn’t get thought of the changing the brackets out of my mind, now I know why.
It a shame when kids work hard to play sports and are dedicated, only to have Money and those who never get enough of it, go in and purposely arrange things for themselves.
I said before that South West Dekalb and Griffin would only get past the first round if GHSA scheduled them against the lowest rating teams, and if you look close, we have a lot of No. 2 and No.3 teams playing each other, as well as No.1 playingh No.2, but then take a close look at South West Dekalb and Griffin, two teams No.1 in their regions and guess who they are playing.
I hope one day the sport of High School Football get’s better leadership as far as decision making.
I’m so disgusted, that the play-offs are absolutely of no concern to me in the 4AAAA devision.
I wonder has certain referee’s been selected for South West Dekalb and Griffin games to make sure they win.

To say 1AAAAA is top heavy is a crazy statement. Yes, Lowndes and Northside are very good and have been for several years. BUT I would have to say they have the best team not to mak ehte playoffs in the state, Warner Robins!! Colquitt and Valdosta will not get beat by more than 14 by anybody in the state with the exception for Lowndes!! There is noway 4AAAAA sweeps 1AAAAA. One win max by Newnan, maybe. Yes Tift County got crushed last year but I doubt that happens again. Don’t look at the fact that a few teams in 1AAAAA have to play A and AA teams early in the year. That is who will play them and that is the size of the teams that are close to them. You do realize that 1AAAAA goes from Warner Robins all the way to Valdosta because of a lack of schools in that classification in South GA.

GHS#22: You will have an opportunity to see the hype of Region 1-AAAAA up close and person in the playoffs which begin on Friday night. It is this simple, partner. Do not be surprised if the Region makes a major run through the State Playoffs this season. If teams from South of the Gnatline get homefield advantage in the quarterfinals, you guys in metro Atlanta can forget about it.
The youngest teams are at Northside and Camden County. If any team…any team, Grayson included, finds themselves in a game at Wildcats Stadium or McConnell-Talbert Stadium, you are not going to get out of there with your dignity. Someone is going to get hit. Someone is going to stop running hard. Someone is going to see what it is like to play before 15,000 fans united for one cause.
Grayson has NEVER beaten a top tier program outside of Grayson, Georgia. To do all of this chest beating is very interesting. I see Northside in a bracket that only has metropolitan Atlanta programs. With the exception of McEachern, who has one of the top coaches in the state and great athletes, it is smooth sailing for Northside through the State Championship game.
You heard it from me. McEachern High School is the only thing between Northside reaching the State Championship game playing with a starting 24 players of practically all sophomores and juniors. The assumption that McEachern or Grayson would stand a prayer at the MAC is absurd.
Call this “Operation: Reach the Dome With Sophomores” for our young Eagles from Northside! McEachern is the only team on that side capable of competing Northside. If I was at Grayson, I would focus less on Northside and Lowndes County and get my arms around my own bracket. Newnan, Valdosta, and an athletic Martin Luther King pose potential road bumps for Grayson.

For posters who are in Middle Georgia, what is going on at Houston County High School? How hired this coach there? Is he going to get fired? When I was home (in Warner Robins) this summer, I heard that Northside would be lucky to beat either Houston County or Warner Robins. I heard that Warner Robins was slightly better than HoCo and Northside was behind both of them.
This is the worst HoCo football team since the school opened without a junior or senior class. The Bears have to look to move on with Rick Tomberlin or a higher caliber coach than what they have right now. Does anyone have the scoop? Did winning the City Championship (upsetting our Northside Eagles) save Bryan Way’s job or was he always OK? Come on Big Red posters, tell the truth. If you guys create this love affair with Bryan Way, I know better. I know that failing to reach the playoffs in consecutive seasons at Warner Robins HS is a reason to contact a realtor for any football coach, especially with Robert Davis just playing golf.

Maybe the regular punter was on suspension but the guy they used (left footer) in the game with Houston could drop it no further than the 30/35 yard line. He didn’t need to with the wipe out of Houston but in the play-off this will be critical.

Sportsfan 31313, just wanted to give you some insight into the roswell quarterback situation that developed on Satirday night. There was a little bit of a “qb controversy” brewing all season. The backup is a better athlete, more arm stregnth, better pocket presence and can make all the throws required at this level. The starter had little confidence even when the team was on its 9-0 run and the coaches would obviously limit the playbook because he was very limited in ability. His main stregth unfortunately was that his father was one of the “community coaches” and was likely pressuring his son. I realize that this only high school football, but no varsity level athlete ( a senior) quits the team in the 2nd half of a region championship with both teams at 9-0 unless he never had the confidence to play from the start. I believe that the prior qb benefited from an agressive physical roswell defense that did not trail much during the season; once the qb was put in a position of having to perform under pressure he simply quit. The team appears to be rallying behind the backup as he played at least 1 quarter in all games this season anyway. On offense, Roswell has 1 running back with over 1000 yards (Duval Smith) and his backup with about 700 yards (Martez Sumler). Thier best player is actually a wide receiever (Cris Boyd) but thier poor starting qb play rarely allowed the offense to be more than a run-first style. My guess is that the team will play well on Friday vs Collins Hill mainly because they are built to stop the run 1st; the defensive secondary has been very suspect that last few weeks. Roswell is mainly built on defense; solid special teams; run first; then play action pass. The play action pass will likely be more effective this weekend against Collins Hill.

Does anyone know much about Collins Hill. I know that Charles Perkins is very good and is the real deal, but does anyone know anything about the rest of thier team; other offensive players; defensive line and corners; special teams play???

If you shut down the run with Collins Hill and force the throw, Roswell will do well. Keep the Eagles defense on the field, they tire out and eventually will make a mistake and give up big plays. Collins Hill depends on Perkins to keep offense on long drives, keeps their defense fresh.

Jaybo…
All I’m saying is NO ONE gave Hiram a chance against Hillgrove and Hiram came from behind to win that game (with a VERY strong Defensive performance ALSO)…then they went to Sprayberry in a game they were predicted to lose and BEAT Sprayberry in ANOTHER come from behind win…
THEN went ON THE ROAD AGAIN to play Dalton for the REGION championship and won yet a 3rd game they were predicted to lose!!! At some point you have to go HMMMMMMMMMM!!!! Maybe they should be where they are….
But there is a LOT of football for both your TCC guys and Hiram before we can really start thinking about who could do what to who…
Hiram has Chamblee coming in friday night…Good Luck to TCC in their game also!!!!
for now it’s gotta be GO HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOORNETS!!!!!!!
UNDEFEATED REGION CHAMPS!!!!!

Trouble at Union Grove??? Two of our top rb’s were kicked off the team this week. Our starting qb gets injured while being tackled in practice last night. Why in the world are hitting our qb in practice!!! #5 is our backup qb and he won’t be playing there either. So it looks like we may be starting a running back at qb? Could we be one and done?

Big J,
If Union Grove have speed, you don’t have anything to be concerned about. UG will have their way with Windsor Forest Trust Me.

Forget about the regular season, last season or seasons before that, let’s talk playoffs. Whoever want’s it more will make that run to the title. It could be a 1 seed or an 8 seed. Offense and defense, special teams and most of all the “HEART” will take the hardware home. Excuses don’t make champions. The real deal starts on friday. Let’s get out there and support our kid’s. Also tomorrow is veterans day, remember the one’s who are fighting under the flag today as well as in the past. They are part of the reason we can sit on the side lines on friday and saturday nights to watch football and enjoy the other freedoms we enjoy. As a veteran of 24 years in the Navy I have to give a shout out. God Bless America and America Bless God. Good luck to all teams this week. As has been said time and again “There Can Only Be One.”

I hope every body keeps sleeping on mlk because of the loss to Stephenson.the lions will be heard from in the playoffs. The game against Stephenson Mack brown was not healthy and our # 1 play maker #21 was out for his first game with an inury. That was also homecoming game with a lot of activities going on during the week. The defense is solid and getting better, offense play calling has to improve with some simple adjustments this team really has the potential to go a long way. Defense has only been scored on in two games. Look ouut!

Ok, so I heard a rumor that the Lassiter, Colquitt County game will be held at Colquitt because Lassiter doesn’t have enough stands or something. I looked and i cant find anything so far. But In the bracket it would have the Trojans at home. So…ya. Does anyone know where it will be played?
