Colquitt County will probably be the 2 or 3 seed in 1-aaaaa.I expect them to beat NSWR on Friday. If they are 3, they probably get to the quarterfinals or better. If 2 they have to play Camden in round 2 and that game could be a toss-up. Of course, if they win this week and Lowndes loses, watch out at number 1 seed they could go the distance. I am a lowndes viking fan by the way.

Watch out for Parkview, their senior QB is back. Look at games before the Grayson game in which they broke his jaw….lots of points. Bad news for Brookwood this Friday. Only good thing going for Brookwood is home field advantage. Huge game this week for both teams. Winner is 4th seed and loser packs it up for the season. So McEachern should be concerned if Parkview comes back into early season form with their emotional and big play leader. Will be a tougher game than most will expect.

Throughdagrapevine its official:
Breaking news from Ga HS Football Daily
Lithonia, Stone Mountain assessed with forfeits
Lithonia and Stone Mountain must forfeit nine victories between them for using ineligible players this season, knocking both DeKalb County teams out of state-playoff contention in Region 6-AAAA, the Georgia High School Association announced today.

As a result, the winner of the game Friday night between Chamblee and Miller Grove will become the fourth and final playoff qualifier from the region. Southwest DeKalb, Marist and Tucker have clinched the first three playoff berths.

Stone Mountain, with had improved to 6-3 this season from 3-7 under first-year coach Dante Ferguson, was forced to forfeit victories over Miller Grove, Forsyth Central, Lakeside and North Springs. Stone Mountain’s victory over Lithonia has been declared a double forfeit because both teams used ineligible players. Stone Mountain record is now 1-8 overall, 0-8 in the region.

Lithonia, which had been 4-5, must forfeit victories over Forsyth Central, Chamblee, Miller Grove and Lakeside. Lithonia’s record now is 0-9.

The forfeits move Chamblee and Miller Grove (both 6-3 overall and 5-3 in the region) into a tie for fourth place in the region.

Chamblee would’ve earned the No. 4 seed in the playoffs anyway with a victory over Miller Grove unless Stone Mountain upset second-ranked Southwest DeKalb this week, but the forfeits are especially welcome news to Miller Grove, which picked up two unexpected victories.

The GHSA did not disclose why the players were ineligible. They typically involve violations of residency, transfer, age or academic requirements.

Sources tell GHSF Daily that Stone Mountain’s forfeits results from the use of a player who started the season at Lithonia and trasnferred to Stone Mountain.

Breaking news!!!!

Stone Mountain head coach is still on the job in spite of the forfeits. From an inside source, the coach and the school were given false information as to the residence of the player in question. When students register in schools, it is not the job of the school to physically check to see if registered students actually live at the addresses given during registration. They have to go on the word of the parents who register their children. GHSA did not fine Stone Mountain because the school and the coach did what they were supposed to do. It’s unfortunate that the first year coach had to go through this, but he and the program will be fine. I hear they will have a monster team returning next year!!

Keep your heads up, Pirates. They can take away your games through paperwork, but the victories on the field can’t be denied. You guys are on your way to the top!!!!

I’m always here, I just don’t get into the back and forth many folks start here. E.P. hasn’t had the best year to date but I think that has to do with problems between the team and head coach from what I’ve been hearing. When it comes down to it I just want to see a good showing from our region against the rest of the state. Looks like that job is going to rest on McEachern, Woodstock, and Etowah this year.

How has Coach McDonald from Newnan been excluded from the “best new coach” discussion? Despite the fact that Newnan went 13-1 last year, they lost their QB, #1 receiver, tailback, and strongest lineman. EP fans are still here…We are going to Woodstock tomorrow night to support our RAIDERS…

This was an EP team with a lot of promise going into the season but things for whatever reason didn’t gel this year. A mix of bad coaching calls (too many trys at running up the middle with an undersized
“O” line), not having enough seniors that stepped up and took charge on the field, bad clock management, not having a QB that could pass or for that matter that could run the team, and just a year with lots of juniors and underclassmen playing on the varsity squad that maybe will be a good lesson for them to bounce back next year from.

I agree with Hoya Chuck…it would be nice to play at least ONE MORE WEEK regardless who or where but realistically this is not an EP team that needs to go to GRAYSON and get a BUTT whipping. This is an EP team that IF they played like they did against McEachern could keep the game interesting but I am afraid it’s an EP team that will play like it did against Harrison, Cherokee and Etowah. If they went to Grayson and played like that…it would be an embarassment.

So it’s on to Woodstock and hopefully play a good game. The #4 seed in Region 5A is still a toss-up so it’s WAIT and SEE!!! I really don’t think Grayson cares who shows up from 5A they are ready and loaded over there this year again!

Its unfortunate about what happened at these two schools. I guess thats what happens when you try to 1) be competitive in our region and 2) keep up with the BIG THREE. We all know that parents want their kids playing for winners and would do anything to get their child with a group of winners. Those teams my not get a shot but…………………..
WE STILL HAVE TEAMS THAT CAN GET IT DONE IN THE POST SEASON.
Worry about yourselves.

Not sure of the playoff scenarios but I’m hoping losses by Harrison, East, and Cherokee combined with a Marietta win will get the Blue Devils the 4 seed. They deserve it after last week’s double OT win over the Hoya.
The only excitement at East these days is hope that next week’s realignment will put EP back in AAAA where they might at least be competitive. 6-AAAAA scenarios

November 6th, 2009
11:50 am

For anyone in north Fulton/east Cobb interested in the convoluted 6-AAAAA playoff chase for the final two spots, here are the possibilities:

(All scenarios are based on the likelihood that Centennial will beat Wheeler)

If both Walton & Kell win tonight, both are in, Walton as No. 3 seed, Kell as No. 4.

If Pope beats Walton & Milton beats Kell, there is a 5-way tie for 3rd. Centennial and Pope will be the 2 playoff teams based on points differential from the 4 games each team played against the other 4. Pope must beat Walton by 6 points or more to get the 3rd seed.

If Walton beats Pope and Milton beats Kell, Walton is 3rd and Milton is 4th. Milton beats Kell & Centennial in tiebreaker.

If Pope beats Walton and Kell beats Milton, Kell is 3rd and Centennial is 4th. Centennial beats Walton & Pope in tiebreaker.

Vincent , Nothing but respect for Lowndes and Colquitt…..I just don’t understand why the rest of the Region never show Northside any….No excuses Warner Robins got MO on their side and beat the hell out of the Eagles ,any Eagle fan will tell you that…….Lowndes is a class act , but Warner Robins is a team that could beat the Vikes ,especially if the Vikes don’t mix it up and throw the ball ,The Demons are have a very good run defense ,all that I am saying…………Aviking fan ill be there.(omni)…..I think it would be a good idea to play up , Football no problem , but Baseball ,softball ,basketball and other sports are the problem……..The region I think did a great job of scheduling the South Ga school matchups vs the Houston county schools and vice versa by schuduling them on Fridays for the most part , but the Tuesday matchups the region could not help…….Tift is an hour and half maybe from Warner Robins, and that is the closes of the region 1 schools , I think if we were maybe even an hour away ,the powers that be would be all for playing up..

North Gwinnett will turn the Grayson secondary inside-out and slap them silly. That little safety won’t know what’s coming at him.

Deekalb, you might be right, but North Gwinnett won’t play Grayson this year.

Reese, I HEAR you about the “other sports”. That’s also’s Camden’s problem for not joining Region 1-AAAAA. I heard we may get Thomasville Central. That’d be good for the region. They used to be in the region with us back when.

AVikingFan,

Well guess what? GHSA has added to Region 3-AAAAA another new school . Please welcome Savannah Arts Academy to the Region 3-AAAAA. Their current enrollment according to the web site is 696 students. :-) :-) :-) :-) :-)

The only Class AAAAA schools in Region 3-AAAAA are Bradwell Institute, and Camden County. The nearest Class Class AAAAA for Bradwell Institute and Camden County to play in would be Region 1-AAAAA for Camden County, and Bradwell Institute would have to move to Region 4-AAAAA. or Region 1-AAAAA. Bradwell Institute can’t drop down to Class because they are a Class AAAAA School. GHSA would not allow it. You can play up, but you can not play down in classification. So you are right Northside Observer.

To qualify my statement, below is where I got the information from.

Savannah Arts Academy: Best High Schools – USNews.com
Savannah Arts Academy. Chatham County School District Chatham County. 500 Washington Avenue … Disadvantaged Student Enrollment (% of total), 10.2% …

Sportsfan31313 – I LIKE your picks. I am also pulling for Bradwell Institute – for you my firend. (Otherwise we like Camden pretty good. Our coaches are friends with theirs.)

Deekalb: What are you hearing — I’d be surprised/impressed if the county took meaningful wins away from a team that actually had a chance to win a championship.
