Ready to ramble: It’s region title week

Get ready to ramble edition as region title week is underway …

Only two teams can win AAAA. That’s Griffin and SWD. Just don’t so any other that’s worthy. …

In AAA, it’s almost as clear-cut: Gainesville or Carver, probably Carver. Peach has a shot. Nobody else. Carver jumped Peach and SPX to #2. Time to get real in the AAA rankings. …

Buford will win AA, but if not, it’s going to take a passing team to do it, like Calhoun. Tempted to say that Fitz and Thomasville are better than Calhoun, but Calhoun has the best shot head-to-head vs. Buford. No one-dimensional team will beat Buford. …

Lincoln County won’t win A, but news flash: This is a well-coached team. Only about a half-dozen starters returned, and the team’s best player is out for the season, and Lincoln finds ways to win. But the winner of Class A will have the letter ‘W’ in its name somewhere.

AAAAA is wide open. Lowndes is the best team, but won’t have the best draw. It’s one of those rare seasons when any team in the Top 10 could win it.

This is a better week of football than the first round, which will see very few upsets. Look at these games, all for the region title -

Lassiter vs. Roswell (6-AAAAA)
North Gwinnett vs. Peachtree Ridge (7-AAAAA)
Sandy Creek vs. Banneker (5-AAAA)

Packers beat northside and Warner Robins beats Lowndes. Wishful thinking but we weren’t supposed to even make the playoffs. Rush Propst has done his 3 a days Lowndes High Band. Please let us meet up again.

It will be very interesting this friday against thomasville, I give them props they are a very good team, I believe it will come down to coaching, there is no doubt fitz can score very fast, the defense will have to bow their backs, because they will try to controll the clock, either way both teams will go far into the playoffs fitzgerald 35-thomasville 14. special teams will play a big part in this game

Reese, when talking about Lowndes having a “bad game” last year against Grayson and then again this year against Northside. H-mmmm. I think NSWR has out done us. Ya’ll had a “bad game” at Lowndes High last year, another “bad game” against Camden last year, and last week a “bad game” against Warner Robins. So, that means over the last two years you have us 3 to 2. So what was your point in putting us down? I predict NSWR will have another “bad game” this week vs Colquitt.

How ’bout it YO. You like those stats? They’ve got us 3 to 2! I guess that means they’re the winner!

BTW, GOOOOOOOOOO PACKERS

Error on the region title list….the 7-AA region title is between Calhoun and Armuchee, not Pepperell.

viking lover, u cant take into account what rivals said. this is the same rankins that jumped us 4 spots after beating the worst team in the state. Northside is falling because they lost to a decent warner robins team (which we beat) soooo i dont really see your point. if you wanna base it solely on rankings then u should be dissapointed that a “stock falling” grayson is still far ahead of lowndes in the rivals 100

As far as Buford vs. Calhoun goes, if Buford’s illegal chop blocks & dirty play on the field actually gets them penalized (or even ejected from the game), then there’s no doubt these two teams will have a great game. But when Buford’s coaches and their player resort to cheating and playing dirty just to win, that’s pretty sad….but that also tells you they know their not as good of a team head-to-head.

WoW mommasboy I like how dissected Region 4 non-region schedule. I also like how you failed to prove me wrong about region 6-AAAA non- region schedule. Here we go: SWD( lost to MLK) Marist( lost to St. Pius) Tucker ( beat Brunswick) Stone Mountain ( beat Cedar Grove) Chamblee( beat Douglass). I see four playoff teams among those losses. GOOD. We have seen your total region record like I displayed earlier. We went UNDEFEATED non- region TOP 5 teams. You can’t say the same. And 6-AAAA OK we understand yall have a lot of state titles. But surely your able to conclude that a lot of titles have come from teams that are not in 6-AAAA no more. Mays, St. Pius , Columbia, boys and girls, six titles alone in Basketball the past 5 years. Marist come on dude they win state titles in just about everything, Lakeside has a lot of titles as well. We are talking 2009 football, people please lets limit it to that. Thats what this all about right.

Grayson deserves the ranking;however, rankings do not win rings. Camden lost to Grayson fair and square. Camden lost 15 starteres from the STATE CHAMPIONSHIP TEAM. Grayson retured a lot of quality players. Camden lost to Grayson by 4 points and lost to Hoover by 3. May the play-offs begin. Camden is rebuilding, but will tradition, coaching and hard work make the difference? Heck I think tradition makes the difference—–We will be ready. It is really hard to get it done if you have not done it. Been there done that. South Ga Rules.

one more thing if you seen or heard..when Gainesville played West Forsyth.. Gainesville made mistakes in the beginning.. they were only leading 7-0 in the half..thanks to the defense.gainesville is able to keep their confidence…gainesville later came back and beat them 27-0..wow what a defense.. trust me they have the best linebackers i’ve seen.. dbs are always on point play the pass first.. then come to ball if they run it…well will just see after a 2 more weeks of football.

Don’t shoot the messenger, Grayson Student. Rivals simply said that they thought that Grayson was playing an uneventful schedule for this time of the year. This is the time of the year when momentum should carry teams far into the playoffs. From what I gathered, Rivals doesn’t see it happening for Grayson.

TO–this is why you play the game……Just because you win the champioship, doesnt necessarily mean you are the best team….( just the one left standing) Remember, some of the best teams knock eachother out of the play-offs, and that gives the lesser teams a realistic chance to make the dance. Some brackets are weak, and others are strong. Just think…(the best team dont always win and the worst team dont always lose)….THAT IS WHY YOU PLAY THE GAME!

Who cares about rankings or the raise in popularity. All that matters is what happens between the lines in the play-offs. Lowndes and Grayson have great teams but if each team fumbles six times resulting in points for the other team, they will loose. In order to win a State championship you must have a little luck. All the teams are good. That is why they are in the play-offs. You never know what will happen. Go Camden

CJ, LaGrange Slayer and Carver-Col Fan, As I said before the game last Friday, “of course, Carver should win. They should beat anyone in GHS football considering the fact that they have the cream of the crop in all of Muscogee County.” Coach Dell McGee has no shame in taking advantage of the 11,000-12,000 high school kids who play outside of their districts in order to play for Carver. Speaking of which, where are all of the so called D-1 prospects from the past few years other than Jarmon Fortson and Deron Furr? Answer: “Nowhere”. Why? Because Carver Col does not meet the basic standards for college criteria. As for the officials from Columbus, they are legendary. Always have been. I will grant you this: Carver is the biggest, quickest HS football team I have seen in 2009. Maybe ever. But watch what happens to these poor kids once they leave high school.

While I may not know all the stats and all the players names, as a mom who has grown to LOVE high school football over the last few years my wish is that both teams stay healthy this week and that they bring good sportsmanship with them to the game.

Regarding the fans, I hope that Suwanee PD is breaking out that OT because if the NG fans are anything like they were the last time we played in their house, the extra law enforcement will be needed.

Hmmm… on that note… RIDGE, GO KICK SOME NG TAIL!

Thank you slalom1. Carver should be the best team when they can hand pick from about 6 or 7 different schools in Columbus. Most districts require you to change addresses before you can transfer and play right away, otherwise you have to sit out a year. Not so in Columbus. Anybody know why?

Because their defense will simply stop more drives than FB will. But I dont believe NH gave up. It just came down to running the football to exhaustion. Carver is a magnent school. I graduated from there. I have a four year degree. So for you to say that the kids from there don’t do well in life is crazy. How many players from Lagrange really go D-1, not counting Kentucky. If Carver was recruiting like you say, the GHSA would put a stop to it. This is sour grapes on your part. Why not take the butt whipping like a man, and not try to keep taking away from these kids. At first it was the refs, then it was the recruiting, what is it going to be next, the band plays too loud. You also mentioned that the kids don’t meet college standards, Jarvis jones is at USC, Deron is at Memphis, Leron is at OKS, Jarmon is at FSU, Chris Hubbard is at UAB, Colby Eason is at BYU, and Ryan Campbell is at Ole Miss. The list goes on. The score was 27-7. Just face it, you guys lost. As for real trojan56, only 2 high schools in Carrollton so dont even talk about recruiting it really happens there and everyone knows it. Every loser has an excuse.
